I have watched this at least 7 times. This is so dead on it kinda brings tears to my eyes. The aircraft is ultra majestic in it's look and movements! It's like watching a gorgeous, thick, yet very agile woman dance. As a former Plane Captain if the tomcat it brings back so many epic memories of watching it fly and the old school cocky pilots that flew them. I will be happy to spend a few grand on a computer dedicated to flying a realistic sim of this aircraft! Thanks Heatblur and DCS! This puts a huge smile on my face!

So sick, really well flown demo profile. The sound to match, just awesome.
I love the roll-break with the wings swept back. Such a sexy looking maneuver and you always saw F-14 pilots do it at air shows, frequently too. Where instead of rolling 90 degrees left to perform a break, they instead go the extra distance by rolling right 270 degrees and then cranking left. 3:32 in the video, top right of the screen....good lord is that sexy. This aircraft is such a looker. Pretty much my childhood right here.

I've seen this Demo on the Heatblur channel lord knows how many times (don't judge, I'm a Tomcat fanboy). And it's just freaking awesome how well made this virtual Tomcat was made, and how faithful to the real shows this virtual show is. I've seen the Kitties perform a couple times at Airshows, and boy is their performance still stuck in my mind. The only thing that comes close is watching an Eagle dance in the sky.... sadly, the Tomcat is no longer with us, but it's still in our hearts. Sit down Persian Cats, you traitors don't get to take this from me.
Also, #Graywolf. Excellent flying, I'd hate to tangle with you in a dogfight.... assuming I even get close XD

This really was a fantastic display! I really enjoy it every time I watch it. I did however notice something in this video that I have never noticed before. That being the fact that the afterburners seem to be reflecting on the turtleback just behind the canopy. It is strange how DCS sometimes handles light in ways that defy physics. :)

How is it done actually? At least it doesn't sound like stepping on the brakes and spooling up the engines which would do this in pretty much any airplane with that gear configuration :)

you set the nose strut switch to "kneel" which causes the launch bar to lower as well. This prepares the cat for launch shuttle hook up on the carrier :)

It's a shame we don't have at least one real Tomcat flying in airshows across the country.

Every time I watch this I get chills. Graywo1f, are you a real pilot or just one hell of a sim pilot? I got a lot of work cut out for me. Can't wait to get the f14.
Haha Thank you @Ken Martin! got about 60 hours as a student pilot a few years ago but decided to buy a house so its on hold lol :D Been flying sims since I was six years old and spent a few years on the Virtual Blue Angels in recent years! Glad you like the vid!
I really wish Iran would to bring one of these birds to air tattoos! Just experience the beauty and noise these aircraft make!

Awesome video and some new light shed on how she's flown! Something I noticed: as the speed brake is deployed @5:05 one can see in the lower right screen that there are some "faces" missing (flipped normals ?) in the model and the beaver tail is transparent. Hope this gets fixed ;)
The landing at the end was very rough due to the very step angle of approach, you can see the airplane bounced of the rear wheels and headed nose first.

Looked like there was a static display one, and then one down at the end of the runway as a backup jet or something. Pretty neat.

May I ask how do you get that subtle camera shake in the external camera view.It's like holding a handheld camera and at time trying to get the subject in the middle of the shot.
I know how to use the F11 camera mode with pan in and pan out but how do I get that subtle shake effect?
Just wore my TrackIR recording externally and made some subtle movements to look like that 😁
