Thanks to your video sir, I FIRST TIME changed my 2 lawnmowers oil. I could not see any kind of bolt to let the oil out from under the mowers. I tipped them over and did it that way. Easy to do. I just tilt my mower over and drain out the 16 ounces tilting it to the extreme on its own weight will get almost all the oil out. Much easier than taking the drain bolt out which I used to do but it's a waste of time and much harder. Try tilting it on the left wheels. Works great. Small little container drains right into it no mess. Thanks for posting

Our Briggs & Stratton mower has no drain plug underneath. The only way to drain it is through the filler cap. However the manual warns you not to tip the mower while you have gas in it. So you're supposed to wait till it's out of gas and then change the oil. Personally I'd rather have the drain plug... but I'm sure there are trade-offs.

You want to read my comment and save time. Please like.
Not agood video not a bad video too long. Skip to 02:09 to get to relevant part and skip details of this mower (which is not relevant).
Questions I was looking for answers for:
    - Is there a oil filter - not addressed specifically but appears small motors don't have filter.
-tools and supplies list. This should have been the first 15 seconds. Go to 02:56
    - What is Capacity- about 20 0z 06:06 don't overfill. Stop short then check level. Add as necessary.
-Where is the drain plug? (Note - newer mowers may not have a drain plug per other pros)
We don't need to see entire oil change. This should have been a 1-2 minute video. Waste a lot of viewers time. I'd have done a tool list, supplies, had mower in posistion on flat support, pointed to drain plug. Made comment about differences if any between brands, then state it is a simple drain and fill procedure. I'd practice and outline to keep under 2 minutes.
This video is backwards - what should be shown/talk about first is last. Lots of talk that isn't relevant.
05:20 The spill mess is because you didn't raise the mower and keep it flat. I'd use sawhorses and keep mower flat at waist level. Taught I was to work comfortably. Helps to keeps it clean.
I'm not being mean- just trying to help the audience. But I am a little pissed at my time being wasted.

Briggs wants you to put the dipstick all the way in and twist shut for measurements. Easy way of draining go to farm store and get a galvanized chicken feed pan for those low to the ground changes. Briggs makes a great 4 stoke oil specially for their mowers. Doesn’t really cost that much more. Great review on how to change oil.

It's hard not to make a mess when draining the oil out of a mower when the plug is on the bottom. I've gotten around this problem by raising the mower up off of the ground using cement blocks stacked on each other with the wheels on the blocks raising the mower up for easier access to the drain plug. Then the pan catches all of the oil with little mess. A couple blocks high under each wheel should do it. There are other ways to raise the mower but the blocks work.

Do you recommend a solvent cleaner for 5-10 minute cleanser after oil change?

    • @ericnelson7320
      @ericnelson7320 Год назад

5 minutes running on solvent!?!?!? Bye bye Briggs!!!!
If you really think it's that filthy, add 10-20% as much transmission fluid as there is oil to the existing oil and run for 3-4 minutes. That should clean it out with no engine damage.

That lawn mower is much more convenient than mine... Mine don't have a drain plug underneath and the plug is located at the base of the engine (where the frame forms a bowl) as a result of that, everytime I change the oil, I make mess. Without forgetting how hard it is to screw the plug back on because it's under the tank and it's too narrow for my hands...

Wouldn't it be nice if the user manuals would tell us exactly how much oil our particular engine requires? Then we could just measure and put in the new oil and not have to keep guessing and doing trial and error. Maybe Briggs & Stratton should list the engine models and what amount of oil is required for each.
