Shang-Chi was one of the few bright spots of Phase 4. Great storytelling. The 10 rings retcon makes perfect sense in terms of the story and current MCU canon.

Honestly I was disappointed with Shang Chi on some front. Although it's decent, I wouldn't say it brought anything new to the table.
I think I see what Marvel comics is doing. It seems that the MCU’s idea of bracelet rings was such a great idea, that they are intending to make two separate types of 10 rings. The one that Shang Chi uses right now in this comic is a mystical ten rings, while the one from the Makluan’s is going to be considered different.
How are they going to do this, you ask? I think they are going to call Shang Chi’s rings “The Ten Rings” while they call the original ones, “The Makluan Rings”. I like this idea because just like how there is the Nega bands and the Quantum Bands, they are going to differentiate the rings based on name and function. In my opinion its not a bad idea because at least this way, those who preferred the original Makluan finger rings can still have it be canon while those who also loved the application of Shang Chi’s rings in the MCU get to keep this version.
Thank you for explaining that. I was like "WAIT!!! Where did the finger rings go?!! (And WHY doesn't Shang have them though??......Wait didn't Tony Stark and someone else kill The Mandarin??)
@@eternaldreamer37 Remember, this is just a theory I have. I think they might be trying to make both the rings from the MCU different from the 10 makluan rings that are worn on the finger. I just feel like this makes the most sense, but I didn’t say that this is what they have actually acknowledged as true.
It could still be true that they are taking the annoying path of changing the finger rings to the ones in the MCU.
However, if I were them, I would make them different as one is created by the Makluan aliens (the finger rings) while the other one (the ones worn on the wrist) is from Shang Chi’s mystical lore.
Hopefully, they actually separate them because we can definitely have both. They just gotta acknowledge it. 😁
As for your second question, here is what I think. I think IN THE MCU, Shang Chi’s wrist rings, will REPLACE the original finger rings in the MCU.
However, In the COMICS, they are introducing Shang chi’s wrist rings and I theorized that are they going to make BOTH the wrist rings and the finger rings different. If you need more clarity then just let me know, so I can restate what I said. 😁
I like this theory. It would make it less confusing for the comics. I still love how the MCU fixed the Mandarin mistake from Iron Man 3 and created Wen Wu's character to the real Mandarin. I heard the reason the MCU changed the rings to be like Hang Garr rings instead of using the original finger rings because they didn't want to confuse the audience from he infinity stones. Even though I like the design of the Ten Rings in the MCU, I still think they should keep the original rings from the comics. Though, I am satisfied that Shang Chi is getting more recognition now. He's one of my favorite superheroes, but I was a bit confused when they introduced the Ten rings in his new comic issues. Regardless, I like this theory of yours! 🙏🏽💪

I actually like this version. It draws upon Chinese legends like the Jade Emperor and Nizha in order to make them fit

Integrating the ten rings from the MCU to the comics could have been a really bad story of the usual "brand synergy gone wrong".....but man, they gave it to Gene Yang and that man does not miss.
Spiderman was taught by Shang chi in many martial arts but I want see more of this character in Video games and a sequel like Shang chi part two⛩️⛩️.
And that is how the MCU brings back Wen Wu..Time Travel!

Did we actually see Shang-Chi get along with his father even though that was a younger version of Zheng-Zu? It's a shame that he couldn't get him to prevent turning him into the tyrant he is in the present

Nice vid. I don’t think this is an ongoing series like you said though. Isn’t this “Master of the Ten Rings” issue just a one-shot? It was advertised to be a conclusion for Gene Luen Yang’s run on Shang-Chi. There are no solicitations for any succeeding issues for this title. Other articles described it as kind of an “annual” at first, but eventually established it as just a conclusion for Yang’s previous series “shang-chi” miniseries (2020) , “shang-chi “(2021-2022) , “shang-chi and the ten rings” (2022)

The live action Shang chi was freaking fantastic it's similar to the comic version of himself and he does look like the Video game character Ryu from Street fighter🎮🎮.

Was it all kinds of messed up that the cousin of Shang-Chi had to bleed into the bones of Zheng-Zu in order to open a time portal to get the younger version of Zheng-Zu?
How did Zheng-Zu get killed and why we those people trying to bring him back?
Wait, are these 10 rings supposed to be the Mandaring ones? Im guessing they invented a new 10 rings in the comics to mimic the movie but it's strange.

Really not a fan of the fact they chose to do the dumb movie version of using the rings. Unless those are completely separate from the rings The Mandarin had, that would lessen the dumbness a bit.

That's how MOST live-action portrayal of the characters are when they're well-recevied enough, they eventually change the source material in some way.
shang chi aka the man that everybody will know as iron fist while disney, marvel, and the mass majority of the marvel fan base eradicate danny rand's legacy to nonexistence and that is if they have even heard of him at all considering most of todays fans only know about the disney marvel
weak sauce. they blew it with this version of shang-chi. The Bruce Lee - Master of Kung Fu version was so much cooler. Can you imagine a bruce lee clone in the mcu? I just watched that new wakanda movie, what the hell was with the flying fish guy? Dude was some kinda Mayan, ate a plant and turned into an avatar/aqua man with bird wings on his feet. 😑 This was literally the dumbest movie villain I've ever seen.
