Shang Chi has the most satisfying fight scenes I've seen in a long time. No shaky cams, no rapid editing, no random slo mo; you can clearly see every punch and every spin and there's a wonderful rhythm to it as well. Absolutely gorgeous.
@@aberizal8022 The shaky cam isn't even really to hide the faces of stunt doubles - too many filmmakers think it's an immersive piece of cinematic language (student filmmakers are told to not use it under any circumstances for obvious reasons) Edit just to add: Shang-Chi DOES use shaky cam on occasion but that's purely to emphasise the force of movement (e.g. in the battle between Shang-Chi and Wenwu) - THAT is masterful and tasteful use of shaky cam, rather than "hee hoo gonna make the camera shake during combat and chase scenes for immersion"

I dont know if anyone else noticed, but the way he used the rings in comparison to his father is a very beautiful contrast of efficiency. And I thought it was that small detail that meant a lot, comparing the characters.

This could be due to her having the dragons magic as well as her mindset. When WenWu uses the rings the energy crackles and his fighting style is also more aggressive than hers.

I hope they Recast and reintroduce Ironfist with the Shang Chi Sequel. Ironfist definitely deserved better and would love to see him face off against Shang Chi. And who knows maybe Shang Chi might unlock more of the rings abilities (if they expand on the powers of the rings)
Yes!! I personally loved the Netflix series so I wouldn’t mind seeing Finn Jones reprise the role. Either way Danny Rand would be excellent alongside Shang Chi

Rapid and brutal attacks, using whips and blasts to extend his range. Shang-Chi uses them like it's an extension of his own body. The rings almost dance along to his movements, and he never lets them hover far away (unlike Wenwu, who throws them around)
The fighting was top notch and satisfying to watch. The martial arts combat is glorious and I absolutely love the rings. It’s cool to see a magical weapon that is just as strong melee range as it is long range. Their speed and animation was fun to watch
If the rings can float freely and Shang Chi can stand on them, could he theoretically just stand on them and float in the air or run across the air using them
It was nice to finally see marvel's 1st Asian superhero brought to the big screen as an Asian myself. And I honestly loved how much they showed us Shang Chi's skills before he got the rings to tell us that he's basically the best fighter in the marvel movies. Now by best fighter I mean that he's the best natural fighter meaning that he can fight the best without the need of powers (unlike Spider-man and Captain America who were physically weaker without their powers and unable to fight properly) or the need of weapons and fancy technology for the most part (unlike Black Widow and Iron Man who use their own weapons and armor regularly in the fights they have).
The mid air dagger at 3:02 was a move taken from a page of the Kakashi vs Obito fight. What a great move to reference and recreate IRL. I'm watching this movie again. Also excellent work to the choreograph and audio team responsible for the fights and the sound of the rings. They look and sound satisfying.
As a kid who have watched a lot of Shaw brothers, Wu Tang, Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Jet Li and Martial Club It's like revisiting my childhood but better
I'm biased for the color blue since it's my favorite color, but I loved Wenwu's fighting scenes. I also like how they didn't make him a mindless villain for the whole movie.
This is why I will always love marvel movies they gave the most bare bones overview to the director and said make a great martial arts movie and he freaking crushed it

Martial arts movies never fail to impress me, because the fight scenes are always so well choreographed, the messages are valuable, the stories are memorable, there’s just so little you can really hate in martial arts movied
It has so many possibilities. The writers for Shang-Chi sequels and any potential Marvel ensemble movies like Avengers will have a whole world of different set pieces & fight mechanics they can do with it. A myriad of different ways it could interact/combine with other heroes/villains' powers.

Can we appreciate how quick Shang-chi learned the things he did later in the movie, for the first time in his life he used the rings which his father had been for, what a couple thousand years?, and fought him directly with using them through something else he also had only learned a few days ago

I kind of wish Shang Chi had the rings glowing his father's blue on one arm and his mother's gold on the other. Would have been nice, considering the emphasis the movie placed on Shang Chi accepting that he is the legacy of both his parents.

I’ve watched Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan films and seeing Shang-Chi is a masterpiece when it comes to martial arts and fights scenes. it’s a 10/10.
