I bought the catch can D.I.Y. kit, I highly recommend this product it works like it should, No more oil burn smell that Harleys have from factory, runs better, smooth idiol, So go get your catch can kit today before it's too late, thanks have a good day.
I found that when I wash my bike some water can get into the can through the vent holes in top. Not realizing this after several washes my can filled and overflowed on a ride and made a bit of a mess. Now being aware of this I commented and DK responded that it is wise to wrap something around the can while washing, such as plastic wrap or a sandwich bag. I had already tried that and it worked very well. I'm having great success with your products and appreciate your timely response to customer needs. PS, that is one sweet looking ride you got there.
Thank you for the comment. Really good to hear you are enjoying the parts and the service. Thank you! 👍 You can see a bit more on that Sporty at this link- www.dkcustomproducts.com/acl/dk-sporty-winter-makeover.htm
Thank you! This resolves what happened to me today. Same thing, oil residue blowing out the catch can after a ride, and it's been on less than 3000 mi. But yes, I washed my bike about a week ago. Makes sense now.
I have this on my Slim S. Put it on with about 1,800 miles on her and I'm so glad I did. Works great. I also have their coil relocation kit and their lollipop baffles. Engine runs noticeably cooler and OMGOSH I feel the difference in torque. Lollipops are in V&H Short Shots and she sounds AWESOME. DK has quality products and their customer service is on point.
Thank you for the feedback and kind words. Your business is appreciated. Between the EBS, Thunder Torque Inserts, and cooler running from the coil relow, you are picking up a nice amount of power!
I have your catch can and it works great. I had it off after a thousand miles or so and cleaned it. Now a few thousand miles and I had to use two pair of channelock pliers to get it open as the center stud is all rusted. I was able to get it back on but I know it will not come off next time and it will be a throw away 😞Great product but it needs to be aluminum or stainless or something.

One thing I haven't heard you touch on or maybe you have and my ADD was keeping me from absorbing it. Detonation due to the oil burning killing your fuel octane when adding the oily mist back in through your intake.

Is it Ok to clean the internal catch can foam with a brake or parts cleaner spray rather than hot soapy water..... More because I want to clean it and put it right back together. Just wanted to make sure the spray cleaners won't dissolve the foam pieces..... Please Advise
It is not recommended to use anything other than dish soap and water. Parts cleaner can cause the foam to deteriorate faster. The foam is easy and quick to dry as it does not hold water like a cloth does. You can just press them dry with a paper towel like we did in the video! I had DK Custom's External Breather System and Catch Can installed at my HD Dealer last May. This is on a '21 Heritage 114. After 1200 miles I noticed some oil residue on a chrome side panel. I took it back to the dealer who said the Catch Can was full. They emptied it and cleared the line. Video says dump every 5 to 10 thousand miles. Seems odd mine filled so quickly.
Typically the Catch Can requires cleaning every 5k-10k miles. If your can is filling to capacity with engine oil within 1k miles, you have an excessive oil carry due to an underlying issue with the bike. The entire catch can body would be the absolute full capacity but is best to empty it when the level reaches the bottom plastic baffle. First, check your oil level to confirm it is not too high causing excessive crankcase pressure... If it is not, it likely isn't pure oil coming from the catch can but rather condensation building in the engine... The best way to prevent this is to allow the engine to fully heat up every time you crank the bike and especially before riding. This will give the engine adequate time to vaporize the condensation. There are ways to manage it as well if it can't be reduced... You can put a small piece of cloth or disposable shop towel in the bottom of the catch can, to absorb the liquid. The catch can internals are designed to contain actual oil carryover, not 'watery' oil... So the cloth will absorb the water much better than the porous foam inserts. Another possibility is to route the hose up and over the engine to the left side, up along the backbone of the frame to the rear of the bike, or behind the rear engine cylinder....Routing the hose up initially will allow much of the liquid to drain back to the heads and inevitably be vaporized from the heat. Please feel free to contact us for any questions or concerns: Support@DKCustomProducts.com 662-252-8828 Thank you for your business! 😎
@DKCustomProducts Thanks for the information. I checked back with The Harley Tech and he confirmed that it was indeed condensation. I will take the necessary steps you outlined. Thanks again!
I bought the catch can. Nice product, then decided to remove it and just run the hose thru the rocker arms and down in front and under the engine. No under bike or driveway spotting after 6 months. It is not as if it would be pouring out oil. No rear tire slippage fears.
I was getting oil on my right pant leg, and down the side of the bike, with a M8 w/stage 1. Did some research, found this product, and now no oil on pant leg, no oil down side of bike, and no oil back into my intake.
I have this external breather system and catch can and I have excessive condensation carryover and I ride for hours at a time I know the engine is getting up to operating temperature and staying there for long periods of time. I never take short rides but I still get a lot of condensation I have to empty it every couple of rides or it comes out of the holes in the top and spray’s back on my exhaust. what could be causing this?
Condensation happens in engines the same way it does in general (unless you have a twin-cooled that has a leak). Large variations in temperatures, especially w/ high ambient humidity. and more. You may have is a good amount of hose between your Catch-Can and your breathers. The heat from the engine is very much dissipated by the time it reaches the catch-can...so it does not vaporize the water.
@@DKCustomProducts thank you for the reply I have my catch can right below my air cleaner so very short hose from breathers to can but your explanation makes sense thanks again for your response I really enjoy and benefit from your channel
@@damianoriccardi1268 You're welcome, and yes, tuning is important for the M8's, but even more important is getting the temperatures to the optimum levels. We have an entire series on this subject that you can see at the link below. We also just did some testing last week on temps and how they affect power. We will be doing a video on it soon...but this is the key take away- When the Engine temperature on an M8 crosses 270 F the power drops off by over 10%.
