10 years before I was born ,,! 23rd May 1968, from bushmills, grew up , lived in Portstewart now for 22 years,! So good to see that old coase, ! That go's on the prom, ! God Bless, great upload,,! 🤝🇬🇧
Plastic lids for helmets, no face protection, no armor in the leathers or boots going 100mph on those skinny bicycle tires! These men had IRON BALLS!!!
JULIEBETH HUNT Did they, Mon Amour, ever 'flag off' the 250's first, then 350's, THEN ze 500's? Would 'ave spiced things up! My 1968, 650: i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa413/zuzulo56/BSAThunderbolt1968_zps892e38c3.jpg
Bob McIntyre set first 100mph IOM TT lap year before and was killed in 1962 at Oulton Park, back when advertising hoarding etc was more important than rider`s lives.Forever 33.My father at 95 this year,a survivor of plane crashes and other serious incidents and risky situations, was born 5yrs earlier than BM. Dig Sammy Miller`s Bradley Ray hairdo, haha
Ian Wright Shorter route was introduced in 1973 (going up Mill Road rather than round the promenade) They started adding 'chicanes' in 1978 at the start/finish area, then added Juniper chicane in 1983. Can't remember when Magheraboy chicane was added...sometime in the middle 90's, then Mathers chicane was added in 2010. I can remember when they put in Juniper Hill chicane everyone was claiming that road racing was finished :-)
Wish they still used the front at Portstewart today!
Bet no one imagined nearly 210mph would be reached out on the open road away back then?

+Brian Bell Juniper chicane was added in 1983.
LOL, my knowledge says:
1968: Shorter course (120 deg York Corner appears)
1982: Juniper Hill Chicane
1986: Start/Finish Chicane
1996: Magheraboy Chicane (That's for 100%)
1998: Mill Road Chicane (That's for 100%)
2010: Mathers Cross Chicane (That's for 100%)
Where's the thruth?
TT 😥
