A slow walk through the Parc Ferme with all the atmosphere and sounds. Senior Classic Manx Grand Prix.
Different course now that year. to what it is now. I prefer the new one. Much faster.
The road surfaces looked a lot better in them times too.
Thankyou for uploading this brilliant film of the West. Awesome.
They sound like a bunch of Lion's, wanting to be let loose. I suppose in many respects they were, and still are!
Shite music
Thank you, Tourism Board!
Incredible ! Thankyou for sharing.
No rider protection whatsoever that are heroes and legends definitely braver than todays racers
Love that music, you can just feel the wind in your hair!
Wish they still used the front at Portstewart today! Bet no one imagined nearly 210mph would be reached out on the open road away back then?
My favourite UK circuit, love the place.
The year I was born, thanks for sharing this wonderful history
10 years before I was born ,,! 23rd May 1968, from bushmills, grew up , lived in Portstewart now for 22 years,! So good to see that old coase, ! That go's on the prom, ! God Bless, great upload,,! 🤝🇬🇧
Would love to see them crowds back fir this year. Go Michael dunlop
I was out at Glen Helen for this race. I remember calling my mate back in Morecambe from the call box in the pub car park, (no mobiles then!) and sticking the phone out the door so he could hear the 'bikes!
and not a bloody Paton in sight! how dire has classic racing become over the last 30 years?
Great racing ,my hero Bob Mac
Thirty one years ago now, but the atmosphere is electric still. I first rode in 63.
TT 😥
Brilliant......
Tempo bom
So classic!! Thanks for posting 🏍
proper racing..... old school
What a wonderful look back at the men and machines they raced, thanks.👍
Plastic lids for helmets, no face protection, no armor in the leathers or boots going 100mph on those skinny bicycle tires! These men had IRON BALLS!!!
Thanks a Lot!!!
wow.. amazing footage.. great video.. thank you for letting all us see it ... :-)
Did he say Hailwood (as in Mike the Bike?) on a 250?
Bob McIntyre set first 100mph IOM TT lap year before and was killed in 1962 at Oulton Park, back when advertising hoarding etc was more important than rider`s lives.Forever 33.My father at 95 this year,a survivor of plane crashes and other serious incidents and risky situations, was born 5yrs earlier than BM. Dig Sammy Miller`s Bradley Ray hairdo, haha
I miss him so much. RIP old friend xxxx

Graham Walker commentary ! Father of Murray Walker.

JULIEBETH HUNT Did they, Mon Amour, ever 'flag off' the 250's first, then 350's, THEN ze 500's? Would 'ave spiced things up! My 1968, 650: i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa413/zuzulo56/BSAThunderbolt1968_zps892e38c3.jpg
@@amelierenoncule Yeah, but that's actually dangerous.
It's road racing and it's still the same
Looks nothing like how it does now!
Anybody have any idea what year they changed the route ?
Ian Wright Shorter route was introduced in 1973 (going up Mill Road rather than round the promenade) They started adding 'chicanes' in 1978 at the start/finish area, then added Juniper chicane in 1983. Can't remember when Magheraboy chicane was added...sometime in the middle 90's, then Mathers chicane was added in 2010. I can remember when they put in Juniper Hill chicane everyone was claiming that road racing was finished :-)
+Brian Bell Juniper chicane was added in 1983.
LOL, my knowledge says: 1968: Shorter course (120 deg York Corner appears) 1982: Juniper Hill Chicane 1986: Start/Finish Chicane 1996: Magheraboy Chicane (That's for 100%) 1998: Mill Road Chicane (That's for 100%) 2010: Mathers Cross Chicane (That's for 100%) Where's the thruth?
Fantastic peice of local motoring history. Congratulations !!!!
Still go every year. Would recommend this to anyone, biker or otherwise.

Hello Hughie, watched it again and spotted more familiar faces, my number is 104 - Ducati 450, standing next to me is Bill from Northern Ireland, he and Peter volunteered to pit for me, bless them, after someone I'd asked and for whom I'd pitted for previously found they were unable to help me as they had a 'subsequent engagement'. Thks for a great vid.(and not just because I'm in it!).
