Best fishing channel on the tube!
I love how Richard captures the essence of traditional fishing; not forgetting God's beauty around him. It doesn't have to be complicated with $100,000 worth of gear. It's the same sport we enjoyed as kids.
Here in southeast Michigan we have bluegill and red ear or shellcracker. The shellcracker were planted here in some lakes years ago to have larger panfish. Last ten to fifteen years their numbers are going up because of the invasive zebra mussels. For once the invasives have helped some fish👍
Ran into Elmo the other day, I told him I saw ya down in the slew fishin around for somethin or other. He runned off, said somethin about the sale barn.
I had a blessed 2-hour morning of bank fishing for bass here in northern Kansas. Caught 4 all on a weightless senko. None bigger than 2 lbs but Im just pleased to have a bite and be out enjoying God's creation.
Water temp is still pretty cold, around 55-60 depending on the size of the water. They are getting in to a prespawn pattern but having a hard time making up their minds due to the fluctuating temps.
Hunting and fishing are very similar. You wouldnt go fishing and only cast once, that's like sitting in a tree stand and not blowing your call. Same with fishing, you wouldnt go hunting without trying to figure out how your game is moving.
Thanks for the video Mr Gene. Always glad to see ya.
This video is enough to get a man excited for some perch (bluegill) fishing!
Bluegill We’re not perch you must be from Oklahoma everybody down there thanks. Bluegills are perch morons
I appreciate your videos. Made me start panfish fishing in a whole different way. The world is a better place with Richard Gene the Fishing Machine in it 🎣🙂👍🏿
It’s always a good day when you post a video
@richard, I really appreciate you taking the time to talk through bait, lure, line, rod, reel and even down to your technique of retrieval. Those little lessons are worth so much to me, because so many other fishing hosts don't bother to share that info! It helps us all tremendously!
Love those Shellcracker!!!! They fight like a freight train!!!
Ive always told my kids, if you hook into a bluegill half the size of a decent largemouth you’re in for the fight of your life!
@@Handy86andy agreed 👍 🙌 👏
It’s so very entertaining to watch you having fun and really enjoying the sport of fishing!🎣

That's absolutely right Richard. I've been telling folks that fishin' is like huntin' deer for years. Doesn't matter what fish you're tracking for, big ol' bass or shellcracker or anything else 40 pound catfish or .... Great video!!!

I absolutely love this channel! Thank you Richard Gene The Fishing Machine!
Richard Gene, you're the man!
It’s been a slow start here in Michigan.
For a couple of weeks I’ve been catching pike, fishing streamers on an 8wt fly rod. No wall hangers, but a couple approached. 32”.
But just three days ago I finally put together a bluegill dinner, and it’s all because your words, “this time of year, it’s all about water temperature.”
Sunny days, shallow slow river slough, and an early season mayfly hatch, brought a dinner into three feet of water.
Everything is later in the north, and I know it’s “going to be all about water temperature” for the next couple weeks.
Thanks Richard.
I’m gonna have to start looking for pre-spawn crappies soon, and we got some real “toilet seats”.
God bless you and your family brother, you are loved by many. Keep'em coming on it........
Richard we need some Momma Sue videos fishing pulllleaase!!!! Y’all crack me up so hard I can’t catch my breath
Richard you know I love Mama Sue and I’m thankful for her “Redeemed” t shirt. It reminded me to share a group of 2 sets of brothers out of Goshen Indiana
called “Redeemed Quartet” one of the finest gospel quartets I’ve heard in my life. I think you all will enjoy them a lot.
NEVER a DULL Moment with you Sir. God Bless you two..
You’re so funny to watch, but you’re very knowledgeable I learned from you

WHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Nice panfish!!
Awesome as always Mr. Gene
So good. Thanks Richard Gene!
Richard Gene the fishing machine, thanks for sharing your knowledge and keep your videos coming please.
Richard have you done any cooking videos? I’d love to learn how to cook panfish well.
I was thinking about you today when I was antique shopping. Found a old rod and reel. The rods name was worn off but had a cork handle that was worn but still in pretty good shape. The reel was called a quick fire 300 by Shimano and worked like I think it should. So I thought to my self what would Richard do? Well I got both for 10 bucks. Not to shabby if I do say so my self.
I used to buy those reels, I think it was in the early 1990's. They had a "trigger" (lever) that you pulled to open the bail. They worked pretty well and only cost a little over $20 if I remember correctly.
Awesome video Sir.. WOOO! Some Goood Eatin’ .. Stay safe and Keep’em coming
Amazing fishing Richard! 🙏🎣👍💯
Great fishing! Great video! We call those large bluegills “CAPS”.
My older brother used to catch Shellcrackers out of a farm pond he used to be able to fish, that big of shellcracker and bigger, I’m talking 2-3 lbs and on night crawlers too, fishing on bottom. That out in Winchester Ky, he never got the chance to take me down there, the lord took him away. But that’s alright, I got plenty of good memories with him. I had a Ol buddy that worked at this farm, down in Georgetown Ky and it had a farm pond on it that had huge bluegill in it, me and him both caught probably state record bluegills out of there, 2 & 3 lbs, heck he caught one that was a little over 4 lbs.
My biggest redear last year was 13.5 ,Great video and KEEP ON FISHING
Love your explanations, and your enthusiasm! Woo!
You are a treasure! A fisherman second to none.woooo!

The best ever!!!
Awesome catch
Awesome technique I'm gonna try it this week up here in central Indiana
Great technique I'm going to try that Thanks For The Knowledge 👍
You the man ! But you also include the truth that you had to take time to find the fish. Not just the first cove to the right of the boat dock. You the Man !!!
Outstanding!
Woooo I mean woooo biggun ❤
If I was half the fisherman Richard, is, I’d still be the best fisherman, I know
Crappie size gills, truly impressive again Richard. Yes they are very good eating.
Good fishing 🎣
Here in nw Florida, love the shellcracker fishing here. 13 3/4 in. Is my best. Ya giving me the fever. Whoo!
Can’t tell you how much your videos help and inspire. When you’re hunting for panfish, are you mostly using sonar or trial and error based on past experience?
Ha...the pros thats got the "patches"....like Jimmy "salesman" Houston....who never won a single tournament....but loves the camera pointed at himself......thank God for Richard
Gene the G.o.a.t
you can't help but love this man ! ,..like a brother, let me clarify before the rumors start...

Watch out Mama Sue, He’s all jacked up on ADRELAGIN !!
You're the best
Yeah Richard I remember you saying that, and I agree I've caught many spellchecker here in Florida on Gass shrimp, many spellchecker over 2 pounds n is in the bypass canals in Tampa
THE BULL GILL DADDY LOL YOU'RE THE MAN
I'm going tomorrow lake wappapello if God willing and let's me hope to catch a mess thank you richard crappie are on up here so wish me luck 🤙🤙 God bless you and yours 🙏🙏
Holy cow! I'd bet an ounce of gold that shellcracker is a pound and a half. I caught a bullgill one time on Watts Bar on a _huge_ minnow. Those that look like brown goldfish. When I hooked it I thought, "That ain't a crappie." and I thought it was a largemouth. That bluegill was as big as both of my palms together and I was 6'4" and 215.
I never miss a chance to go fishing with you. Especially when you're fishing for mine and your favorite eating fish.
Stand back, Lisa. You're going to get hurt. 😉🤣🖖
I will try this. I usually find sunfish will peck a big worm to pieces. Red worms are more readily taken whole but are swallowed to deep before I realize I have a good bite. A lake near me is known for panfish staying deep & bottom feeding mostly.
Come on up to parksville lake here in south eat tn, it’s pretty common to find big red ear like that 👍🏼
My favorite fish anywhere blue lips and red ears hands down best eaters all around !!!! Whole and fillets love them so much !!! Thanks for the tips on how to put a few more in my ice box and love using night crawlers on them so fun a little messy but who cares that's why God made soap Lol have a blessed day and good fishing !!! ❤
That’s probably the biggest Shellcracker I’ve seen RG catch
Richard Richard Richard!
300th like 💪🏼 nice video Richard Gene
Hi Richard, I'm from up in Canada. Pretty cold up here this morning. I've heard sayings that when the leaves on a Lilac bush are the size of elephants ears it's time to go for Crappy. I was observing the size of leaves just busting out in your video. Take note! besides water temps.
That first fist “yeah” was funny to me😂
