    I know the AI is coded to naturally advance toward player nations but the Ottos taking explo in 1530s is absolutely fucking insane.

      The AI is coded to advance toward players?!

    • @Moros311
      @Moros311 6 месяцев назад +10

      @@TheFyroPyro Among other things.
      If the following is true:
      - An AI can rival the player and has fewer than three rivals chosen,
      - The player is set as rival by less than three other nations (or the player has rivalled them),
      Then:
      - The AI WILL declare the player the rival out of all options, perhaps unless someone else has set them as a rival.
      This is absurdly blatant with Denmark and if you try it out, you'll notice immediately. Why? Because Denmark, due to its Personal Unions at game start, has a very wide range of who they can set as rival. This means that no matter who you choose in Europe you will almost always have Denmark as a game-start rival so long as you have more than 50 total Development. Even if you don't, then at some point the chance will happen and they'll declare you a rival. Denmark is literally coded (probably unintentionally) to be a early-game antagonist.

    26:05 having an Explorer or an Admiral is no different for when you're doing a battle, provided they have the same pips. It's the same as Conquistadors (vs. Generals) - the difference how many pips they get when they are originally rolled. For any given amount of Army/Naval Tradition, a Conquistador/Explorer will, on average, have 20% fewer pips than a General/Admiral.

    The difference between an explorer and an admiral is that the explorer always has a minimum of one pip less than the admiral upon recruiting, the same is true for conquistadors vs generals, which is why they tend to suck more, but hey, they make up for it by being able to explore terra incognita.
    How do i know this? Hover over the recruit explorer/admirals/general/conquistador button and read what it says.

    Got the achievement with this start (except the European part) and then forming Japan, getting EoC, and changing to Hindu. Not sure how many of those would be helpful, but I feel like they made expansion and wars easier for me.
    Couldn't complete some of the Japanese MT (-5% power cost) because some Aztec missions got in the way. Its was a comfy run.

    Would it be worth it to form Manchu before moving your capital to the new world for the ideas and busted ruler and missions?

    • @oroblock1782
      @oroblock1782 7 месяцев назад

      Probably not, ryuku's -25 ae is probably better for Europe than manchus stuff. And forming manchu would put you behind on getting to the new world.
      If your going through the effort to form manchu as ryuku (I've done it, it's really hard, lots of save scumming) it's probably better to do a qing emperor of china run.

    • @leifkjnny5424
      @leifkjnny5424 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@oroblock1782You can form Manchu after going to the New World though.
      If you tagswitch then you have to do a true one-tag. Going New World and later forming a tag that moves your capital is a problem since it csuses colonial nations to spawn. BUT if you form a post-colonial tag first then you will never get colonial nations no matter what. I recommend Alaska, it's easy to form and has -20% CCR and a spiffy map colour.

    • @oroblock1782
      @oroblock1782 7 месяцев назад

      @@leifkjnny5424 the other guy was asking if it was worth doing before before going to the new world, presumably as part of playmakers strategy.
      That strategy is go to the new world and get strong from bullying natives, and now the Aztec missions. Then go to Europe, do all the formables that give admin efficiency to hit the cap, and then wc from there.
      Forming manchu, and going to Manchuria in general is going to slow that strategy down significantly, and your not going to get anything that really helps that strategy.

    • @leifkjnny5424
      @leifkjnny5424 7 месяцев назад

      @@oroblock1782 Yeah, the Manchu path only makes sense if you are going in the opposite direction (natural progression being take Mandate and form Qing, etc.)
      Forming e.g. Alaska as an intermediate step makes sense either way though. Being able to freely move your capital without spawning colonial nations is the point there.

    • @oroblock1782
      @oroblock1782 7 месяцев назад

      @@leifkjnny5424 I can sort of see it, but it creates the opposite problem where it's slowing down you manchu gameplay significantly. I'd prefer to form qing, which has better ideas anyway, 25ccr and 5 admin efficiency, and just move capital after.
