After watching this video in January 2024, I sprouted avocado seeds in March. Great video, thanks! ❤ I went back to see how to properly put it in the ground)))
Thank you so much! The moment I had the idea of growing an avocado tree, I immediately went to this video! I've already done the first two steps ( Peeling and placing in water) and fingers crossed it will sprout! 🤞🤞 This video was so easy to understand, best tutorial I've seen on how to grow one so far! 🥑🥑✨
CLIFF'S NOTES: How to grow an avocado from seed: Select an avocado, wait until it ripens, take seed out (makes no difference if it is large or small), plant seed into dirt with the belly button down without peeling it, water it and wait 2 or 3 months. Done. No silly sticks or water in cups necessary. That's just for noob entertainment. You also don't want to do the water silliness because the roots should go into dirt right off the bat so they are well arranged in there. If you do the water thing then you'll be screwing up the roots. There, straight from the avocado farmer.
@@lydiabrady9000 The soil around the seed needs to be damp so the root can find moisture. This isn't "my method". This is how avocado seeds are planted for grafting. No serious grower will ever use sticks and water like that. That's for entertaining.
Appreciate you. Seems like every year i have to look up how to start seed, more so, which way is up. Then i find i already knew that but reinforce ment is nice and u never know what u might learn from another individual. Again thankyou so much. I live in mississippi, during the winter, so far they've all died. Anyway I keep trying
Thank you! I had done this exactly as you showed but I hadn’t seen this video till today. I was concerned I did something wrong. It took months for the seed to crack and the root to start coming down. I didn’t replace the water every few days I just topped it off. That’s probably why. So I’m glad I found your video thanks again.
4 of the 5 I followed her directions with are showing life👏🏾👏🏾 I've planted the tallest one but will plant the rest as soon as I get more pots (the pots I have are too big).🤞🏾🤞🏾
I agree with you, plant them in soil when the tap root starts protruding from the bottom Leaving them it water for too long is a mistake in my opinion.
Thanks for this wonderful video that saved my day! Today is my 1st try to grow avocado tree. Watching this video made me realised that I made a mistake of bottom up the seed! I immediately paused video and swung into action for correction while apologies to the poor seed. Thank you again!
Use a 1 gallon nursery pot. Fill with sandy loam. Top with mulch. It needs heat, humidity, and sunlight. Water it for 1 year. Keep in mind that not every seed, from every fruit, is viable. A year could be wasted if you have a bad seed. That's why growers begin production with 1,000 seeds. If they lose a few hundred, it's okay. Then they have to graft them, where they could lose more trees that don't take the graft. If 2/3 of the seeds are successfully grafted within a year, it will be a success.
Thank you very much. I have two very tall avo trees. I now realize that I did not pinch the top ends when they were still growing and I have to struggle to reach them. Monkeys are only too glad because they benefit from my toil 😢. Will look after the next seedlings better. Thank you once again.
Hi Daisy, I have few questions.. - I planted 1 pit similar to your with small root at the bottom. I planted it in the same way as you did same container & soil, but it’s not sprouting any stem, it’s been 3-4 weeks - how long did that pit take for you to sprout a stem? - I planted 2nd pit similar to yours and it has stem, but it’s not producing any leaves. It’s stagnant at its growth - what should I do for the stem to produce leaves? - when should I put them outdoors ? Can these be grown under grow light? - How many hours of sunlight ? - how much to water the pit when it’s at starting stage?
I got the fattest avo seed I've ever seen so decided to try growing it. It's been around 2 months and haven't seen anything yet so I think it's a dud but I'll try a bit longer. I'd love an avo tree 🥰
@@skeletonjanitor very well actually thanks for asking! Not all of the seeds sprouted but some of them did and now I have a small “garden” on my balcony 🌱

Thanks so much , Madam . It looks easier to grow Avocados in this way. You are requested also to throw light about the weather conditions in which these grow up in better conditions. J Sidhu (Canada)
How long did it take for your Avocado to grow the stem? Mines is in the tap root stage and I don’t know where to go from here, should I place it in direct sunlight? I used to have it on the window sill but it never got any direct sunlight, I don’t want to dry it out or kill it before it even has a chance to grow. Any help would be appreciated
1:54 are you sure about the water oxygen? What if some roots are outside the water or it already have leafs? Wouldn't that give the plant give the oxygen it needs?
Have a question for anyone that can answering me: I used to grow avocados like you said for a period of time, most of them grow up just fine and some ones didn't make and throw them away as normal. I have one that grow roots but never grow branches or leaves. Anyhow I keept it in water because seems healthy even if not grow. Now after two years, I see that a litle bity branch it's coming out. My question now, it's that normal?

"Indirect light" is very important. When I first tried this method I took a plant outside for a couple of hours a day and it inhibited the growth. I discovered that outside early on was a bad idea.
So, my seed split in half, I tried to hold it back together with toothpicks and now I have a sprout that’s growing, but no roots are growing underneath lol. Help!
My avo tree took 2 months before i seen the plant first shoots . I stuck in a few steel nails when ot was about 30cm high..oh yes.. I started my plant in a large coffee tin..i will cut out the bottom of the tin in put in in the ground just like that (tin and all)

If you soak the seed for a few hours it makes it easier to peel.

I put my seed in the fridge and it was easy to peel the seed plus it also grow baby roots ! 😱

Im not criticizing. I just dont understand why people grow them because they dont produce avocados. Aesthetic purposes??
