      That would be disgusting. The vegan content and the sugary crap are the two reasons why I have unsubscribed from this channel. They call the channel tasty but it sure as hell isn't healthy.I'll be glad when you stupid vegans start dropping like flies because you starving yourselves to death. Maybe then you'll quit guilt-tripping everybody else.

      @JB JG plant protein is incomplete. The human body is extremely inefficient at metabolizing plant-based fatty acids into a usable form.that's why a lot of vegans starve themselves of the nutrients they need to make hormones and end up self-inflicting premature menopause. The most disgusting part of it is that they justify it by saying that it's just their bodies detoxing. If your hair is falling out and your teeth are translucent there's something wrong with your diet. Try eating some meat.

      In Australia there’s an awesome burger chain called Grill’d and they ran a trial of Meatless Monday’s this past Monday (i.e they only served vegan burgers across all their stores). Read some perfectly eye roll worthy accounts of customers complaining to the poor staff demanding their right to a meat burger. Literally go to the place next door, come back tomorrow or eat a perfectly good veggie burger!

    • @chrizzlybearlol
      @chrizzlybearlol 5 лет назад +39

      b0o0dlesn0o0dles where is this demanding culture coming from? As a European this is just absurd to me. In the french origins of a restaurant you are supposed to be a guest of the cook and you eat what he serves. As you said if you don’t like it go somewhere else. Nobody has the right to demand anything. You could ask politely but that’s it. This just sounds so American to me...

      @@chrizzlybearlol I mean in Capitalism it is the consumer who has the power to vote with their wallet. The store is supposed to meet their fans' needs. I imagine they did a piss poor job of informing people of what was gonna happen. Telling people to just eat somewhere else is also not the same. It is a substitute for what you wanted.

    • @chrizzlybearlol
      @chrizzlybearlol 5 лет назад +7

      Dennis Pietrandrea yeah fuck this perverted version of capitalism. I know there aren’t any good alternatives at the moment but we don’t have be assholes to producers of goods and services. In the end every consumer is also a producer in this world. How dare they to be rude to other people for the market not meeting their expectations. These are the first to be offended if people are complaining about their job. Voting with your wallet means you go somewhere else but not threatening stores or making a scene. This is a cultural thing though. I’m not bashing America (and countries heavily influence by American culture) for this but you have to admit it’s not healthy. But I can understand where this is coming from. There are to many mega corporations being greedy. And People are angry but they forget there are people and a lot of skilled work behind products. (I kind of drifted away from the burger but the concept is the same).

      I feel like if everyone did this, it would contribute significantly to helping the environment tbh 'cause there'd be less demand for meat meaning that less cows are bred for slaughtering and livestock may even start getting treated better and more humanely. But it would take a lot of people doing this to make this possible, and unfortunately a lot of us don't even realize that we'd have to do this collectively or else nothing'll really change

    • @a.a.6318
      @a.a.6318 4 года назад +8

      Honestly and I feel like people forget this. In some areas versus others being vegan (specifically) can be more expensive/too expensive for people to do long term. Especially if you're being a full vegan, meaning your clothes, accessories, food, shoes, and everything else that's a part of your life is vegan as well. That can be hard. And we're not even talking about allergies and possible deficiencies for some people. Like what if you're allergic to soy? I notice a lot (not all ofc) vegan alternative recipes have soy in them

    • @ivegottaluvlikewoe
      @ivegottaluvlikewoe 4 года назад +10

      I'm vegan in an area that has no vegan restaurants, and it's not as difficult as you think. I dont eat organic food, bc I cant afford it. I can afford beans, legumes, rice, quinoa, pasta, and nonorganic produce. Beans are cheaper than meat. If you can prep meals you never have to worry about running out of food or buying too much and having it go to waste.
      Most restaurants will do a pasta with marinara or olive oil if they dont have any already vegan options on the menu. Most breakfast places that have omelets can make you a plate of potatoes topped with fajita veggies.
      Just call ahead and dont be a jerk and people are almost always willing to help you be comfortable and happy!

      In my country people in lower economy condition basically vegan. Dairy or meat products not expensive. But to save money being vegan is a way to go.

    • @jayl24548
      @jayl24548 4 года назад +2

      Animal products are extremely heavily subsidized in the USA. I think that it's a misconception that eating animal products is inherently less expensive because of how western countries have spent so much time and effort transforming something that is actually an extremely inefficient and wasteful industry into something that is somewhat sustainable (financially, not for the planet). Of course I won't judge someone for not going vegan if they actually can't afford it or live in an area that actually makes it impossible, but I do think that middle and upper class people in non-food-deserts should at least consider trying to cut animal products out of their diet rather than always saying that them making that decision is somehow unfair to people who can't. I actually see it the other way around: what we produce responds to what people buy, so the more people who can afford it buy this stuff, the more available healthy, animal-friendly, earth-friendly produce will be to those who currently can't. Btw this was more a response to the other replies, not to be hard on the original person from Alaska.

      Vegans are hypocrites. They completely ignore the science about what the human body is genetically programmed to metabolize as nutrition. If I had a dollar for every vegan who said it's not about the diet, it's about saving the animals, I would be rich. I am not going to ruin my physical health just to save some cow that no longer has the genes to survive in the wild due to selective breeding for agriculture. I've recently seen several RUclips videos of people who got sick on a vegan diet and immediately started getting healthy again when they started eating meat. I figure if it ain't broke don't fix it. Your vegan diet is bullshit that you've been brainwashed into believing in.

    • @XDfullmoonXD
      @XDfullmoonXD 5 лет назад +23

      @@rachelloverdog Actually it would make a huge difference in terms of health. Heart disease is an endemic around the world and if more people shift towards a plant based diet that can actually be prevented. For the environment, we produce enough food to feed the whole world currently but the distribution of it is terrible. Most crops are grown to feed livestock which in return does not give back a lot of meat. That also contributes to more greenhouse gasses. It's a human rights issue with certain people having to work in slaughterhouses ( bc they have no choice). Right now it's incredibly easy to be vegan bc not many people are hunting for food, we got supermarkets. I think what we should be looking torwards is lab grown meat because that's the only future I see of ethical meat consumption.

    I lived in Indonesia and this video makes me cringe.
    Because now I realized how tight Americans tied to meat-eating lifestyle. In Indonesia, it is so natural to not eating meat, and we have way a loooot more vegan food options than meat based ones. Moreover, we here got Tahu (tofu) and Tempeh, a nationspread all-favorite non-meat source of protein, that made out of fermented soy and tasted reaallyy good that you will forget to eat meat.
    Us Indonesians could live without meat for long periods of time, like a month, or even maybe a year, without keep thinking about going back to meat eating. Like, it is not that hard for us.
    That's why, this video is so cringey for me.
    But big applause for anyone out there trying to eat vegan in a daily basis like you guys. You are heroes for the world. And keep going. Keep increasing the awareness too. Lets hope people like this multiply and in future we could live in this world happily together without extremely tied to meat-eating lifestyle.

    I think it's easier to go vegetarian first and then vegan. I went vegetarian in 2007, and vegan in 2017 - I tried to go vegan before that but I was physically and mentally not in the right "space" if you know what I mean and there weren't a lot of options where I lived. But then I moved, and I tried it again two years ago and haven't had any problems since then! It was also more comfortable for me because I never really liked eggs and I'm lactose-intolerant, so there's that, lol.
    Some people can't go vegan, and that's completely fine. Some people don't wanna go vegan 100%, and that's also completely fine. My roommate, for example, is an omnivore but tries to eat as many vegetarian and vegan dishes as possible - like maybe one meat and one fish dish during the week, oat milk instead of cow's milk, and so on. They don't force themself, and I think that's really important. You have to do it with your whole heart and not just because someone told you to. But you should try to be aware of what you eat and how it impacts yourself and everything around you.

    This was incredible. The recommendation to reduce enviro impact has never been to get every human to go 100% plant based; it's to reduce animal-sourced consumption and production. This vid is so important because all of these folks have learned how and are now motivated to reduce meat and dairy and still feel satisfied and happy with their meals. Their behavior will in turn impact others and so on. This is the way to get people to consider a more plant-based diet--not with rigidity, but with positive and supportive experiences. Thanks for sharing this cool experiment!

    I eat plant-based more than not. Mostly due to my texture issues with meat. Meat kinda sketches me out. I'm not a huge fan of veggies either for similar reasons but I've found that I feel better with more energy after plant-based food and that vegetable recipes seem less messy and risk less contamination and just overall less effort. Undercooked veggies aren't as risky as undercooked meats.
    I think that once you can figure out ways to disguise certain veggies and add more flavors to your plant-based meals, you not only appreciate vegan food more but you learn how to appreciate all food more and step out of your comfort zone. You don't have to just eat chicken strips all the time if you eat meat and you also dont have to eat salad all the time of you're vegetarian/vegan. Cheers!

However, if you do not have the finances and don't live in an area that has easy access to vegan options, you end up eating the same thing all the time and get bored QUICKLY, and if your lifestyle doesn't easily support switching, this CAN be incredibly difficult, though of course not impossible.

    I just realiced I've slowly done vegan stuff:
    Stopped eating eggs like 3 years ago.
    Stopped drinking milk 1 year ago.
    Been eating beans (and similar) once a week fro years.
    Also pasta.
    Might replace butter with olive oil.
    Been turning down on processed meat for half a year.
    If it wasn't for the raw meat I crave...
    Well, you do what you can do

    I hope this challenge catches on so that we can see other peoples struggles and perspectives, but ultimately to see if they would stick to this lifestyle. I think I'll try this challenge out myself, wish me luck.

    Despite enjoying the taste of meat and other animal products, the level of detriment that eating them causes to the planet and the environment wholly outweighs any enjoyment that i might get for a few seconds when eating them. The welfare of the planet is so much more important. I think many people need educating on a vegan diet and how successful they can be. You can get all nutrients from a plant based diet, and I appreciate tasty raising this and creating awareness. I'm glad the people at tasty were open to this, and that buzzfeed are actually using their platform to try and educate their viewers, both about the environmental benefits to being vegan, and that its not that hard to eliminate animal products from your diet. Cutting it out all together may not suit everyone, but actively reducing consumption is a fantastic first step.

    I promise that it's really easy when you forget what meat tastes like, and stop liking the smell of chicken, fish and cheese. And also, when you remember that you can still have pizza, lasanga, alternatives for burgers and hot dogs and nacho plates. There are vegan sandwish spreads, great tasting condiments. All the vegetables, all the fruits.

    I don't eat meat that much and I've never really thought it was my favorite to eat but when I did a challenge to go vegan for a week it was really hard. It might be that we don't have that many options for vegan meals in Poland (it's even hard to find tofu sometimes) but I was hungry all the time lmao

    i don't have any problem with eating veggie for a week even a month because meat is expensive here in indonesia. about Rp120.000,- ($8,42) per kg.

    There has to be a study somewhere about the effect of less or no meat consumption to actual farms and greenhouse gasses emissions. Because there is an actual cost to switching to a plant based diet given that it is still not affordable and sustainable for a lot of people, and I personally am not willing to make that choice if my decision in the end is negligible and the benefits to the environment is marginal while very costly for an individual.

    Honestly, I appreciate this so much!!! 💕💕 I attempted to go vegan and I quit after 2 weeks because idk if I was doing it wrong or what but the bloating I would feel after was to much for me. So this makes me want to stick with it and just try & let my body get through it and adjust it.

    I really love the message of this video but I think we have to take into account that they’re in NYC and that they have significantly more vegan options in restaurants and grocery stores compared to someone like me who is from rural ohio. Therefore they had a much easier time making the transition into going vegan for a week. Most of the time my grocery stores barely carry vegan cheese / meet substitutes. I also really wish they did a cost comparison.

    I tried being a vegan for a month ....while rest of my family was still eating non veg almost every other day .....it really tests your will power and control! Not as easy as it looks but I learned how to cook my own food in these 30 days! So I was happy 😅😅

    thank you for putting those stats at the beginning of the vid. education on why we should be choosing to consume more plants is key to staying on a vegan diet. 10 years vegan for me after understanding the health benefits, planet benefits and for the animals. compassion for the self, planet, and other beings

      There’s no harm in trying! A good idea I used when I started eating more plant based meals was googling recipes of my favourite meals were and putting vegan in front. So like ‘vegan minestrone recipe’, ‘vegan burrito recipe’, ‘vegan fried rice recipe’. Best of luck to you and thank you for being open to trying :)

    i am and have been vegan my whole life and sometimes i am curios about dairy products or different varieties of meat but i feel like its worth. did you know one cause of deforestation is farmers paying to clear land to graze cows that are later consumed? i think that a vegan diet is possible and actually delicious. i am glad this challenge was tried. :)
