I have found many remnants of the original builders in the restorations I have been involved in over the decades. I appreciate your acknowledgement of the workers. It is something that passes through my mind as I try to understand what they might have been thinking as they made decisions on how to assemble the pieces. Great project you have.

Tim, Flick - The more you delve into the history of the Chateau the more we admire what you have both taken on, how many craftspeople would have been onsite when this was initially being constructed? The architecture around the detail and construction is amazing and it is a little easier to replace smaller sections that complete wooden beams. Your dedication to reviving the Chateau as truely amazing and we are so happy and proud of the work that two Aussie’s are doing for the better of French culture, you better both shoot off to see Denise and Brett for a a couple of days at their Chateau day spa to relax. You deserve it! 🤩 Thank you Legends for allowing us to be part of this amazing project. Be safe, take care and God Bless.

Very good that you do it in the same way with oak since it does not tend to rot for a long time. There is an old technique to help the wood that goes into the wall frames. If you burn the edges if the wood it will last longer. In Sweden they did like this at the castles centures ago.

That roofing system is Genius! I’m always astonished at the architectural genious of those who’ve passed. How many legacies have been lost to modern techniques that can’t even last half as long. Truly MARVELOUS!

The ancient Egyptians believed that uttering a person's name could facilitate their survival in the afterlife. They considered names integral to an individual's identity and essential for posthumous existence. This understanding led to the practice of inscribing names on monuments and tombs, ensuring their remembrance.
In the context of Château de Purnon, as you explore and discover the names inscribed on various surfaces from timber rafters within the intricate roofing, concealed behind wallpaper on the Hessian backing to engravings in the massive stonework you keep these people alive.
Recognizing and documenting these names preserves the legacies of these artisans and acknowledges the significant role they played in the craftsmen's heritage of both the château and France’s rich history.

french cathedral builders passed this custom to modern builders in France and as they influenced all around europe, european and middle east builders too, later free masons tried to, mimic "the ancient builders" with iconography and rites of those builders as kind of cult, and till now nevah succeed to build anything

I would want to purchase a historical house that needs some rescuing, but if ever I call for a new build, I’d want my top-floor ceilings to look like that. The features lost to history! I know sometimes it’s often for the sake of cutting costs. But there are some elaborate and expensive designs out there that people are willing to spend money on. So that’s why I feel like cost isn’t necessarily the issue here. This is one reason why I love history so much. You learn about certain things we should totally incorporate in today’s world.

Wow, what a simply stunning design. It's beautiful and quite amazing that Loudun's methods failed to catch on. Just imagine how architecture would have changed, if there was widespread adoption. Your outbuilding hints at what would have been possible. To preserve it return it to it's former glory is incredible. Thank you so much for researching this and sharing it. From UK.

I'll catch up more on the Patreon side... She really is a time traveler. But also a connector of dots in the very best possible ways... And well done to today's carpenters for that working model you're showing! As always, I'm studying every frame of video!
This time, I'm reminded of a TED talk from years ago... I'll try to find it and drop a link. That speaker studied how closely our minds are connected to our hands... almost literally that we learn with our hands first... I'll have to find it and refresh. My first toys, after disassembling most of my mom's kitchen and then my bicycle, was my dad's woodshop. (Waddaya mean there aren't supposed to be spare parts?!?! ;-D)
link below, when if I find it...

Thanks for your message and for supporting our project. We're thrilled that there is so much that strikes a chord for you. Our brains all work is such different ways... some people have to disassemble everything they encounter in order to understand how it works, while others recoil in horror at the thought of taking things apart, afraid they will never be able to put them back together! Vive la différence!
