I remember Wintzell's as a kid in Mobile in the 60's-notably 1961-1969 and when I went back in 1980. I also went back for a wedding and this restaurant was on the weekend menu for the wedding. I sure do miss Mobile! My Dad had the "HAIMAN" building down on Airport Blvd. Is it still there? Tugs at my heartstrings!💗
I always look forward to visiting Mobile because they have so many great places to eat. Just reminding myself to lose a few more pounds before I visit. Beignets, popcorn roasted peanuts, fried oysters, hear I come.
64 years old born in New Orleans ans lived in Mobile since I was 2 so Mobile is my home and I love it but now I find myself selling out and moving to Arkansas to live by my daughter and grandaughter to live the last part of my life a sad and I hope happy time. Different anyway ❤
Mobile is a food desert. You would think being so close to New Orleans that food would be the focus, but now the only place to get good food is across the bay.
I must strongly disagree. There are lots of great options in downtown Mobile. Often, people who live across the bay drive to downtown Mobile to get great food. I do know however, there are some great places on the eastern shore, though. That is for sure.
@@livinginmobile This is encouraging. I will remain optimistic then. I've just had so many mediocre or disappointing meals in places that seem promising. I don't even know where to look for Italian food, for example.
Mobile has New Orleans to thank for the Ruby Slipper, Ruth's Chris (steak house) and Popeyes (fried chicken) restaurants and not to mention some of those elaborate mardi gras floats from Blaine Kern studios, Royal Artist float builders and the statues at mardi gras park, c'est tout! ⚜️⚜️⚜️
What is your favorite restaurant in downtown Mobile?
Dauphin's is my favorite! Amazing view!!!
Chuck's Fish or Roosters!
Spot of Tea
@@chestercalloway3812 Love their Strawberry tea!

Make this a series! I love learning about the city of Mobile.
I’m working on it!

Yes, I have to wear my elastic waist band pants when I go downtown, lol
There is also a Ruby Slipper in Pensacola. Will check out the candy shop and Squid Ink, they sound awesome 👍🏻
I did not realize that. Thank you for letting me know. I will have to check it out next time I am over there.
Great video, I plan to add the food tour to my activity list
me too!
What a great video, Jeff! So fun to hear about this food tour! Now I’ve got to do it!
Yes, my wife did it, and she loved it!
Love these! Some of our favorites also have sister restaurants on the coast which we love! Mo Bay, Moe’s, and Ruby Slipper!!
Yes, I learned a lot about these restaurants and their origin.
@@livinginmobile so cool!
Are you planning on doing any Mardi Gras videos?
I hope to, that’s the plan!

Great job in this!
Is there always a few people in the streets?
Sometimes it’s very crowded. I did this around 10 AM, so it wasn’t very busy.
Im aiming to move to Mobile this summer, and this is on my bucket list to do with my partner. Is it worth it?
I have a brother that lives in mobile, trys to get me to eat oysters sorry I don't eat snot

Best ny style pizza?
I’m gonna have to go with Nino’s on Hillcrest or Joe’s on Airport.
Mobile has nothing on New Orleans, especially when it comes down to food!
New Orleans is about four times the size of Mobile. I think it holds its own when comparing the size.

@@livinginmobile I don’t care if it was the same size. It’s not comparing the 2
