Hi thanks for the videos these were really helpful! I’m about to order but keen to see how you connect the centre speaker. I’ve heard you have to tap on the rear speakers (I’m also on the base audio) but not sure how to go about it.
@@BestCarMods Yes easy enough replaced the same 4 speakers, with 4 Horns and tweeters. Just need to watch this video where to put the prying tool. Some clips where tighter the others! @@basholtman4103 hey, did you also replace the amplifier or other unit ? I have HIFI system and I find my speakers are distoting a bit and I was thinking to replace them with harman kardon or others but I am afraid that it will fry the amplifier
@@dragoss16 someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I think it’s impossible to fry an amplifier based on the connected speakers. You just hit max volume quicker based on the max output of the stock amplifier. I haven’t added a amplifier as I didn’t feel the need to go louder or clearer as it’s already a very good upgrade to just swap the stock speakers with the bo from ali.
@@basholtman4103 speakers have impedance or resistance, if the resistance is lower it will draw more current from the amp, putting more stress on the amp resulting in a sooner failure
Hey great video. Is this the same steps for a 2016 4 series gran coupe. - would any programming be needed / disconnect battery ? Or is it just straight swap and play
Hi awesome video... I also have a 'base' system - 4x mids, 2x subs, small screen head unit with only 4 channels. I have some questions: 1) I see that the tweeters run from a connection on the back of the mids, as there is no wiring for tweeters on the base system. How does this work without a crossover? How can it distribute the relevant frequencies (mid/high)? 2) I read that because the head unit only has 4 channels, front two channels power both the mids AND the subs, so the sounds in the front is diminished compared to the back. Can this only be rectified if you install an amp... and how would the subs be wired if the exiting wiring is for only two channels? I assume you would have to run new cables from the boot where the amp is located to the subs? And then how would you be able to adjust the subs if the head unit only has settings to adjust bass/treble and fade/balance? 3) Is it possible to swap out the base screen and/or head unit for the widescreen version, hence allowing two things: a) ability to have CarPlay b) facilitate more audio channels and hence have more audio adjustments I know very little about all this as you can tell, so I'm not sure what the limitations are. I just need to improve on the crappy base system that was ordered with my 525d urrrgghhh :( 4) What's the purpose of the centre speaker in the dashboard? Is it necessary? Does it not just muddy the stereo sounds? 5) Are you sure the the link you provided to AliExpress are for GENUINE Harman/Kardon speakers? If I was more of a sceptic, I might think that they paid you to make a review for them to legitimise the store LOL. 6) Is it worth getting just the 4x mids/tweeters (€245), or is it not good enough without the subs (which themselves cost €215). If you get subs, and add an amp (€550) it starts to get crazy... and you could install a BavSound plug and play kit from the US for less.
1. basic capacitor as filter for high frequencies added to the tweeter 2.yes front is not capable of outputing higher power ... aka if you sit in the back and have high level of sound, the back is doing a better job ... in the subwoofer upgrade you will place separate wires for the front subs. 3. yes 4. from a quality point of view it is not needed ... we just use it as an additional source of sound 5. I wish they would have paid me :)) they did not even give me a discount ... inspecting the parts they seem ok... it is just hard to think that someone can sell the originals at that price ... 6. you get subs only when you are willing to fit an amp

Great video, thanks for making I have a F10 with the base stereo. Do you know if i will have the wires to connect the tweeters? I can see you had the hifi system so you did but not sure if they're present with the base stereo.
Hi, my car was also base... those wires where one of my inventions that did not really work that good. In the kit from the Chinese you get all you need ... all plug and play.
in my case I got only some speakers from Aliexpress that seem to be very good quality. depends how much money you want to spend. Money not an issue for my base stereo I would buy audison speakers + amp + calibrate all the sound after with the audison software.

Dude! Thanks for the video. But you didn’t show how you connected the speaker at all! There are loads of videos about taking the door card off and the vapour tape replacement is good advice. But not enough detail on the connections. Argh!
connection is easy. plug and play. and I think that it is shown in the video. car cable goes in speaker , speaker has an second out port. tweeter goes in second plug and all is connected
@@BestCarMods thanks for clarifying and I did suspect after having bought the exact same kit as you (delivered yesterday) that the tweeter went in the second port on the speaker, but my point was, which side? The connectors are the same and you appear in the few frames of video to have NOT connected the tweeter to the speaker, looks like you have like an additional harness cable or something. @2.11 in the vid, there is a 2nd port to the left of the port where the cable is plugged in. Is that where the tweeter goes because it looks like you split the cable coming out the port you plugged into and connected the tweeter to that. Look, it’s easy for you because you know what to do. As someone who has no idea i’d have appreciated some explanation rather than some music. Just trying to offer some positive feedback. There was another video which, like yours, spent more time on how to remove the door panel than how the speakers were wired. @@MrHappyjolly :) you are very observant :) . regarding the speaker it does not matter which port, they are all in parallel. and yes my car has a separate harness because before buying this kit, I tried to make my own , used some other tweeters and had to splice some wires. for your install you just take wires from car, you plug them in the new speaker, plug tweeter also and you are good to go. if you have the time let me know what do you think about the quality of the sound. I’m fairly sure installing the HK (actually Harmon Becker) amp is needed for the full effect. It comes from factory with an amp and the headunit simply wasn’t designed to drive this many speakers on its own. I’d be interested to know since installing the tweeters yourself if you have the treble turned down in idrive. If so it’ll be because the headunit cannot do the crossover well enough, this is actually my largest concern you’ll just get lots of highs from the tweeter. I would just got ahead and get a used HK amp, but I’ve no idea whatsoever on how to wire it in other than it goes in the boot with a fibre cable to the headunit.
