Really well made video. However, I can't help but feel extremely underwhelmed by this. It seems like any other daw ads double this amount of features in a single free patch these days... the fact that they have to dedicate a fifth of the runtime to a gain and panning tool as part of a FULL VERSION UPGRADE ANNOUNCEMENT feels borderline pathetic tbh.
It’s a beautiful thing that Reason has discovered the secret to advertising their products on RUclips. Whether it’s new software, a tutorial etc. they realize their message should not be hampered by sprinkling in ads for automobiles, insurance or some new body wash. They’re selling their product, and having no ads before or during their videos is something that all members of the pro audio industry should immediately adopt. And bravo on the new version! Can’t wait to get it.
Why has reason been ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED to acknowledge all the complaints about the sequencer not being updated?? You mention some of the new sequencer updates dead last in this video without really acknowledging that it's the MOST IMPORTANT THING YOUR USERS HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR. Just complete silence and lack of acknowledgement about your user's frustrations, and why it's taken so long to give them so little. It's so disrespectful you people REALLY need to release a statement, a video or an interview on what the hell is going on. No other company is behaving like this and that's NOT a good way to be different.

They have a bounce in place feature since I think versions 10 or 11 and you can highlight a region ( midi track lane ) in the edit window using the short keys Shift B to perform it 🤠
it would have been so cool, if they made the Reason Mixer Black and changed the curves and tone over to an SSL 4000 E and added a 5 Band Stereo EQ and Tape Machine on the Way out before the Audio goes to the G Comp Compressor, at that Point youd be able to master on the Mixer itself...you would get Compression, Saturation and Full Perimetric EQ on the Stereo Signal going to the Out channel
Reason used to be my favorite DAW, but man... this is just not enough for me to come back. Besides, I really don't like your obnoxious authentication methods - they don't really prevent software piracy, do they? While I can no longer use my R11 offline. What a shame...
The same thing happened to me. I have a USB ignition key which worked for many years but no longer works. Reason has become a novelty type thing for me but the new license authorization system was like the nail in the coffin
@@sixtyticketrecorder7276 I tried everything from Pro Tools to FL and Ableton, etc. I really liked Logic, but wanted to stay OS-agnostic, and Studio One quickly became my favorite (still use FL Studio every now and then, but only for sequencing)
I love that the sequencer got some updates, and I they're great! BUT were also hoping for things like folders, scale folding/snapping, alias clips, audio clip replace (all instances), marquee tool. So many functions/features that would enhance the workflow considerable.
i paid full price a while back for a perpetual licence to use the Reason plugin, in another daw. That doesn't even provide everything in the subscription, basic stuff that's free in all other DAWS. Nor does it load VST plug ins. Guys, I'm never going to use Reason as my daw. It's a plug in now. Reason as a DAW is a badly outdated joke. Why would i pay for an update, for less stuff that's in Ableton suite or even Reaper (lol)?
I tend to think of Reason as it's own thing and not really a DAW in any usual understanding of the term. Other than Helix Native I've found I don't really need any VSTs for Reason.
@@arthurdent1097 The perpetual licence does not even include all Reason's own Players, which I find unreasonable (pun intended). + £45 each for these basic modules. After paying £300, + £200 for Algo and Objekt, It's an insulting basic tier package for the price, that does not incentivise me to upgrade any of it.
I’m looking forward to a much more detailed bug fix list. There are oddities still in 12 I’d like to see addressed. They include: - Mute and solo buttons are not synced between the sequencer and the mixer/rack - No custom keyboard shortcuts - Bouncing a loop does not run the track through the full effects chain - Mixer channels do not have a peak view, making it extremely hard to mix drum tracks - There’s no straightforward way to set custom in and out points for your bounces - The audio formats on the export window are severely lacking Addressing issues like these are what I’m hoping for most.
They don't care. I'm not upgrading, and I'm no longer using Reason as either a Rack of a Sequencer. I picked up Bitwig Studio and I'm moving on. I am done with Reason Studios and their cultish user community who go out of their way to make excuses for them. This is probably the most useless - troll'ish - paid upgrade I have ever seen a DAW developer release for their flagship product, ever. I don't think I've ever seen any other company release a $199 paid upgrade that was this void of value. He basically says Monotone and Polytone basically offer no value. "Faster" is a subjective, relative term. The Browser Updates are what they are, but Reason Studio's first party content is so bad that most people would prefer to just ignore it altogether and use Komplete Kontrol 2.9 and Native Instruments' content almost exclusively, anyways (except those who can't afford Komplete Ultimate/Collector's). The Sequencer "update" is just a basic rearrangement of things. Nothing new that actually pushes the software forward. One FX and three redundant utility devices. Sorry, but this is a hard no and "gotta get you outta my life" from me.

I have these massive track counts and it's literally impossible to work without being able to directly see which track is muted or soloed from the window I'm working in. I'm glad they made reason a VST so I can use an actual DAW for arranging and still get all the fun synths of reason.
You have to separate updates into DAW updates and Instruments and tools updates. I am interested only in DAW updates. From year to year my involvement into Reason DAW is decreasing. I use only Reason instruments but in another DAW. And it is really disappointing, I used to use Reason all the time, but now it has a lack of so many many features that already exist in almost every modern DAW!

@@HOLLASOUNDS 100%. The issue is that these devices offer no value. The synth and utilities are redundant. The only thing of value is the Delay, and there are enough delays on the market at much lower prices. You can get Cherry Audio's Tape Delay off Humble Bundle for $20 right now, and it's actually a pretty good delay. Arturia FX Collection 2 can be had for $60 right now... with multiple A+ Tier Delays in it. As a DAW, Reason is getting ratio'd hard by everything from Cubase, to Live, to Bitwig... even Samplitude Pro X and Pro Tools are putting more work into their sequencers and delivering more value in updates than Reason Studios. I'm starting to wonder if they read ANY user feedback, at all.

Looking good. Some great improvements there. I'm probably alone, but I'd love a modeled winds instrument (like Friktion is for strings), something to quickly make airy, brassy, reedy, and vocal sounds. I love Objekt, but it's very tricky to get these kinds of sounds.
@@HOLLASOUNDS True, but my point is I'd like to be able to quickly create and customise wind, brass, reed, vocal, formant sounds... like how Friktion works, but for winds. And, as I said, Objekt is awesome, but the interface is a bit abstract. I love Reason because of how it is intuitive for musicians: all the knobs, cables, etc. Interfaces and controls that relate to real equipment and instruments just fit the way I conceptualise sound and music.

I've never wanted a update this bad before. I read you can even tag and categorise your vsts too. Even little things like the velocity ramp button, sidechaining in band mode. I need this yesterday man. I hope they add a strum feature for midi clips too.

ok so i am beyond hyped to know the reason has been thriving this whole time. i used the reason 3.0 way back in the day and loved it. fell in love so fast. though i ended up losing my pc somewhere between moving (it wasnt that good anyways lol) and had lost the reason copy as well. Fast forward to yesterday going threw my old things at my moms i found it... the reason 3.0. my eyes lit the heck up and the first thing i did was hop online to see if it would still be compatible with my pc only to find out yall are on THIRTEEN! im so beyond hyped. i actually stopped playing around with music production because all the other stuff i tried was lacking and somehow i had forgot about your existence. today is a great day for me and i am so excited to give it a shot in june! Thanks for reawakening my music creativity!!
There's tons of new things for "user". They've always had a Midi out to VSTS. They're called "Players". You obviously don't like Reason and are here to bash it because it's easier to do so than actually make music.

The criticism is justified in my opinion because the application stands out in a few respects from the competition and adding a few things that are available as RE plug-ins anyway is not good. Synth is redundant, he basically told you that himself. 4. The Utilities they added are redundant. One of them is literally redundant with a free Rack Extension that anyone can get for Reason 12 (or earlier) right now. Most people who are here talking about Reason - a DAW that really doesn't have much in terms of mindshare in the current era - are here because they use the DAW and actually want it to improve so that they can continue to justify investing further in it vs. going to Sweetwater and paying the same price as a Reason upgrade to crossgrade to something like Bitwig Studio. You do realize that these upgrades cost more than Bitwig 8-Track to Studio Upgrades or Live LIte to Standard Upgrades, right? Cubase just has a huge sale on Cubase Pro that was barely more expensive (esp. as a crossgrade) and most other DAWs have sales. Logic Pro just launched a major upgrade to v11 and is literally the same cost as a Reason upgrade, with no running upgrade costs. It's like you people are living in "Delulu Land." If all the people "complaining" leave and then Reason jacks your prices up 25% AFAIN to make up for them going elsewhere, you're probably going to be one of the first people here complaining about it - but you're contributing to the entire issue by signaling to them that literally ignoring user requests and doing the least amount of work possible to charge the highest possible price is "tons of value." It's not. Stop lying to yourself and attempting to gaslight people. Reason does not allow MIDI Routing from VST Plug-ins. You cannot use Scaler 2 to drive an Instrument Track they way you can in almost every other DAW except Grooveboxes like Maschine 2 and MPC 2. This is why most MIDI Processors list Reason as an INCOMPATIBLE DAW. Go and see, assuming you know how to read. Scaler 2: Reason (No MIDI Routing: Use Blue Cat Audio Patchwork for MIDI Routing) This is not an issue in Cubase, Live, Sonar, Bitwig, Logic, Studio One, Digital Performer, REAPER, Samplitude Pro X, Pro Tools, Mixcraft, Waveform, etc. People have been asking for this for YEARS. We are at the point where multiple DAWs are now implementing MIDI FX Support (Logic, Samplitude, Pro Tools, etc.) and Reason still doesn't allow you to do it the "old way" that has been possible elsewhere for A DECADE OR MORE. Scaler 2, Insta-Series, Kirnu, Cthulu, ChordJam, Chord Prism, PhraseBox, ReMIDI, Harvest, Melody Sauce, BLEASS Arp, EON-ARP, MIDIQ, etc. That's ignoring Synths like Pigments and Falcon that can export Sequencer/Script MIDI for use in driving other virtual instruments, etc. Tihs is a huge limitation. It does not exist, I'm not sure how you can come here and post that... Do you realize how many products are impractical (or are functionally limited) in Reason because they want to continue to maintain this limitation to sell their overpriced, basic Player Devices?

I don't really give a fig about "Faster" in the context I'm hearing here. When I am composing/constructing a work of sonic art/music, I'm NOT in a big rush to complete it. For Me at least, the destination is the journey itself. I like Reason -But not super fond of the way it is marketed, nor many of the more recent innovations. The continuous obsolescence of their products so they can sell their "novel" plug-ins or some "spankin' new" gadget or effect or pack... -FASTER. ...Every 3 months it seems, there's some "hot new" make-over which a music producer MUST have, and they seem to be tossing these out... FASTER... I GUARANTEE You, that 80% of Reason users, actually know/utilize about 15-20% of the full potential of the software...At BEST. We are a culture obsessed with the "new". Many people subscribe to the notion that "grass is greener on the other side of the fence." However, the TRUTH is, that Grass is Greener, healthier, and more robust, wherever/when we Care for, and Water it.
We want the browser to be paired with the other soundbank and custom preset folder . Please, long time reason user here, been buying your suite product and a lot more. Please , why dont you just have release a free update for the sequencer that was outdated and give people the choice of wich browser they want, attach or detach. I'ts still the same software. Please , don't fall in the greedy way of doing thing.
@@MikeFavila You can do it with automation curves but not in the fades on each audio clip(As far as I know). When editing a lot of audio, using automation each time does not really make sense from a workflow standpoint. It's not a huge issue, but I'd like to see it.
New devices are always nice and a great addition… but it’s about time you put some work into improving and modernizing the sequencer, which looks like a bit of a turd and is waaay outdated compared to Logic’s or Pro Tools’ timelines/sequencers (10+ years stagnant). I still can’t choose to work in Reason over Logic simply because of the sequencer/timeline, even though I would want to make the switch.
Making a few additions or deletions to the new version will not solve the problems. This daw was left alone, untouched. If I had to give an example; When I open NI the computer crashes. However, I have no problems with Studio One. I have been using reason since version 5. Actually, I'm always waiting for this daw to get better.
zooming sounds great! but i hope were not being charged another $259cnd for that upgrade. Another 80's VST synth or a new compressor is the last thing we need.
Please tell me reason 13 will have automatic bpm detection/ auto time stretch for mimic so you can quickly browse loops with the tempos already matching the tracks bpm.
@@spesterwecial They haven't eased up on devices, and modern workflow efficiency Is something that has improved here, its not on the level of FL Studio who is there biggest rival right now DAW vs DAW.
The devices are Reason Studios usual high standards, The click drag down to zoom is good, finding position zooming with that bar at the bottom it 12 is annoying. I need independent zoom for the Rack or a fast zoom for the rack, like you zoom into the rack in this video, You should make it as fast and as easy for us to zoom into any rack device like that. You should also work on introducing Stem as soon as possible to stay competitive with what is now becoming standard among DAWs and plugin brands.
Devices look awesome, stoked. I use Echo in every production, the Ripley will likely get a lot of use in my work. Also the Monotone has gotten tons of bassline usage, the Polytone again looks like a very useful continuation. I use Pump RE in nearly every track also somewhere, so the tools also look like a useful advancement on great ideas. Even the cross-fader mode thing is a useful idea. No fluff. Very cool. Reason user since V1 and it's my only DAW now. My set up is hardware and Reason. Can't wait to upgrade! P.S. I recently bought Objekt and it's amazing unlike any other synth I've used. I have loved Propellerhead innovative ability since I played with Rebirth the first time. It is not my main DAW (Logic) but Reason always makes it fun! Fun, creative and playful. And for that a pay monthly gladly. Keep doing what you do! ❤

All these fancy new extensions don't really matter to me if anything listed below wasn't taken care of: - clip/midi grouping - custom keyboard shortcuts - complex but fast midi/clip manipulation with ctrl, shift, alt / left, right mouse combination like in FL Studio - horizontal window split (for panoramic monitors) - a favorite list that doesn't loose track of your samples after renaming/relocating them - players with actual ability to trigger patterns from your keyboard/launchpad - importing and exporting FLAC files.
I know this isnt what you want to hear, because reason users have usually gone DIY out of necessity and you've likely found a shortcut, but: x-mouse buttons for windows is great for rebinding the mouse (I use it for zoom and a hotkey-second layer for midi hotkeys). I use the back button (mouse 5) for 'play from start of selection' etc. I agree tho, would love custom shortcuts with standard import/export .json or something. Or at least a hidden way to change them in a file without having to code a new place in the setup for keys. The Reason preferences are notoriously simple compared to other DAWS and I feel like this is intentional... Maybe when something core like that is baked in for 10+ versions, it would be a bitch to rebuild. So it's like a LOE vs ROI and this is a very niche feature for a subset of folks. Not saying it wouldn't be amazing, but wondering if it will ever happen at all.
It's now. But tbh, I see the point with specialiced devices for faster results. But as a hobbyist, the upgrade is maybe not worth 20% of full reason 12 yet. Then maybe 1 VST instrument like serum is a better invest - for now. As far as I understood upgrade from any to newest version costs the same.
They won't let me run Reason 7 without internet authorisation anymore. Or download my Rack Extensions. :( Edit: updating here as I don't want to be libelous and my other comment got deleted: I was able to DL and use my Rack Extensions with the Internet Authorization mode.

This can be just an update, not an upgrade. As always since Propellerhead is dead, Reason is just here to make money. Back in the day, update was very about quality improvements and adding devices... Now you need to subscribe or pay 199€ to have a new version with few improvements.
I am just really happy that A) Reason Studios is still playing the game and keeps supporting my favorite music production tool ... and B) they have not abandoned the sequencer. Will get the upgrade as soon as it's out.

VST midi out is something I'm surprised has not been done. I won't update without it. I have a few VSTs I like a lot that aren't usable in Reason.

Reason used to be my favorite DAW, but man... this is just not enough for me to come back. Besides, I really don't like your obnoxious authentication methods - they don't really prevent software piracy, do they? While I can no longer use my R11 offline. What a shame...
The same thing happened to me. I have a USB ignition key which worked for many years but no longer works. Reason has become a novelty type thing for me but the new license authorization system was like the nail in the coffin

@@sixtyticketrecorder7276 I tried everything from Pro Tools to FL and Ableton, etc. I really liked Logic, but wanted to stay OS-agnostic, and Studio One quickly became my favorite (still use FL Studio every now and then, but only for sequencing)
I'm pumped about the updated sequencer and the sidechain tool looks like it's gonna be a new "go to"!

I love that the sequencer got some updates, and I they're great! BUT were also hoping for things like folders, scale folding/snapping, alias clips, audio clip replace (all instances), marquee tool. So many functions/features that would enhance the workflow considerable.
They will do it in next update and expect you to pay another 200 dollar upgrade or continue with the subscription
Finally some workflow things we all needed since Reason 6.0!
KEEP IT COMING and many will come.
Although I've never used reason, I do really admire the user interface design. Everything looks so inviting.
Why not just incorporate Recycle to Reason
i paid full price a while back for a perpetual licence to use the Reason plugin, in another daw. That doesn't even provide everything in the subscription, basic stuff that's free in all other DAWS. Nor does it load VST plug ins. Guys, I'm never going to use Reason as my daw. It's a plug in now. Reason as a DAW is a badly outdated joke. Why would i pay for an update, for less stuff that's in Ableton suite or even Reaper (lol)?
I tend to think of Reason as it's own thing and not really a DAW in any usual understanding of the term. Other than Helix Native I've found I don't really need any VSTs for Reason.

After paying £300, + £200 for Algo and Objekt, It's an insulting basic tier package for the price, that does not incentivise me to upgrade any of it.
You guys still give skeuomorphism a good name, those UIs seem so great ! Just the exact right amount of physical and abstract.
Useless features, no fixes for long standing community requests but another HUGE marketing buzz. Not impressed.
I’m looking forward to a much more detailed bug fix list. There are oddities still in 12 I’d like to see addressed. They include:
- Mute and solo buttons are not synced between the sequencer and the mixer/rack
- No custom keyboard shortcuts
- Bouncing a loop does not run the track through the full effects chain
- Mixer channels do not have a peak view, making it extremely hard to mix drum tracks
- There’s no straightforward way to set custom in and out points for your bounces
- The audio formats on the export window are severely lacking
Addressing issues like these are what I’m hoping for most.
They don't care. I'm not upgrading, and I'm no longer using Reason as either a Rack of a Sequencer. I picked up Bitwig Studio and I'm moving on. I am done with Reason Studios and their cultish user community who go out of their way to make excuses for them. This is probably the most useless - troll'ish - paid upgrade I have ever seen a DAW developer release for their flagship product, ever. I don't think I've ever seen any other company release a $199 paid upgrade that was this void of value.
He basically says Monotone and Polytone basically offer no value. "Faster" is a subjective, relative term. The Browser Updates are what they are, but Reason Studio's first party content is so bad that most people would prefer to just ignore it altogether and use Komplete Kontrol 2.9 and Native Instruments' content almost exclusively, anyways (except those who can't afford Komplete Ultimate/Collector's). The Sequencer "update" is just a basic rearrangement of things. Nothing new that actually pushes the software forward.
One FX and three redundant utility devices. Sorry, but this is a hard no and "gotta get you outta my life" from me.
Except for the peak view in individual track and export formats all these are by design!! Wtf???

I have these massive track counts and it's literally impossible to work without being able to directly see which track is muted or soloed from the window I'm working in. I'm glad they made reason a VST so I can use an actual DAW for arranging and still get all the fun synths of reason.

From year to year my involvement into Reason DAW is decreasing. I use only Reason instruments but in another DAW.
And it is really disappointing, I used to use Reason all the time, but now it has a lack of so many many features that already exist in almost every modern DAW!
They have always prioritised there devices over the DAW

@@HOLLASOUNDS 100%. The issue is that these devices offer no value. The synth and utilities are redundant. The only thing of value is the Delay, and there are enough delays on the market at much lower prices. You can get Cherry Audio's Tape Delay off Humble Bundle for $20 right now, and it's actually a pretty good delay. Arturia FX Collection 2 can be had for $60 right now... with multiple A+ Tier Delays in it.
As a DAW, Reason is getting ratio'd hard by everything from Cubase, to Live, to Bitwig... even Samplitude Pro X and Pro Tools are putting more work into their sequencers and delivering more value in updates than Reason Studios.
I'm starting to wonder if they read ANY user feedback, at all.

I'm probably alone, but I'd love a modeled winds instrument (like Friktion is for strings), something to quickly make airy, brassy, reedy, and vocal sounds. I love Objekt, but it's very tricky to get these kinds of sounds.
Maby the new search will allow you to find a good wind like sound thats already a preset.

And, as I said, Objekt is awesome, but the interface is a bit abstract. I love Reason because of how it is intuitive for musicians: all the knobs, cables, etc. Interfaces and controls that relate to real equipment and instruments just fit the way I conceptualise sound and music.

I hope you guys can work closely with Nektar CS12, I have been Midi mapping for years, but I would really love a streamlined experience to truly feel Reason, because, with all due respect, Reason's visuals and graphics BEG to be touched. lol I want to twist those knobs on that new Delay so bad. lol

I've never wanted a update this bad before. I read you can even tag and categorise your vsts too. Even little things like the velocity ramp button, sidechaining in band mode. I need this yesterday man. I hope they add a strum feature for midi clips too.

ok so i am beyond hyped to know the reason has been thriving this whole time.
i used the reason 3.0 way back in the day and loved it. fell in love so fast. though i ended up losing my pc somewhere between moving (it wasnt that good anyways lol) and had lost the reason copy as well. Fast forward to yesterday going threw my old things at my moms i found it... the reason 3.0. my eyes lit the heck up and the first thing i did was hop online to see if it would still be compatible with my pc only to find out yall are on THIRTEEN! im so beyond hyped. i actually stopped playing around with music production because all the other stuff i tried was lacking and somehow i had forgot about your existence.
today is a great day for me and i am so excited to give it a shot in june! Thanks for reawakening my music creativity!!

There's tons of new things for "user". They've always had a Midi out to VSTS. They're called "Players". You obviously don't like Reason and are here to bash it because it's easier to do so than actually make music.

3. Synth is redundant, he basically told you that himself.
4. The Utilities they added are redundant. One of them is literally redundant with a free Rack Extension that anyone can get for Reason 12 (or earlier) right now.
Most people who are here talking about Reason - a DAW that really doesn't have much in terms of mindshare in the current era - are here because they use the DAW and actually want it to improve so that they can continue to justify investing further in it vs. going to Sweetwater and paying the same price as a Reason upgrade to crossgrade to something like Bitwig Studio. You do realize that these upgrades cost more than Bitwig 8-Track to Studio Upgrades or Live LIte to Standard Upgrades, right? Cubase just has a huge sale on Cubase Pro that was barely more expensive (esp. as a crossgrade) and most other DAWs have sales. Logic Pro just launched a major upgrade to v11 and is literally the same cost as a Reason upgrade, with no running upgrade costs.
It's like you people are living in "Delulu Land."
If all the people "complaining" leave and then Reason jacks your prices up 25% AFAIN to make up for them going elsewhere, you're probably going to be one of the first people here complaining about it - but you're contributing to the entire issue by signaling to them that literally ignoring user requests and doing the least amount of work possible to charge the highest possible price is "tons of value." It's not. Stop lying to yourself and attempting to gaslight people.
Reason does not allow MIDI Routing from VST Plug-ins. You cannot use Scaler 2 to drive an Instrument Track they way you can in almost every other DAW except Grooveboxes like Maschine 2 and MPC 2. This is why most MIDI Processors list Reason as an INCOMPATIBLE DAW. Go and see, assuming you know how to read.

This is not an issue in Cubase, Live, Sonar, Bitwig, Logic, Studio One, Digital Performer, REAPER, Samplitude Pro X, Pro Tools, Mixcraft, Waveform, etc. People have been asking for this for YEARS.
We are at the point where multiple DAWs are now implementing MIDI FX Support (Logic, Samplitude, Pro Tools, etc.) and Reason still doesn't allow you to do it the "old way" that has been possible elsewhere for A DECADE OR MORE.
Scaler 2, Insta-Series, Kirnu, Cthulu, ChordJam, Chord Prism, PhraseBox, ReMIDI, Harvest, Melody Sauce, BLEASS Arp, EON-ARP, MIDIQ, etc.
That's ignoring Synths like Pigments and Falcon that can export Sequencer/Script MIDI for use in driving other virtual instruments, etc. Tihs is a huge limitation. It does not exist, I'm not sure how you can come here and post that...
Do you realize how many products are impractical (or are functionally limited) in Reason because they want to continue to maintain this limitation to sell their overpriced, basic Player Devices?

I don't really give a fig about "Faster" in the context I'm hearing here. When I am composing/constructing a work of sonic art/music, I'm NOT in a big rush to complete it. For Me at least, the destination is the journey itself.
I like Reason -But not super fond of the way it is marketed, nor many of the more recent innovations. The continuous obsolescence of their products so they can sell their "novel" plug-ins or some "spankin' new" gadget or effect or pack... -FASTER. ...Every 3 months it seems, there's some "hot new" make-over which a music producer MUST have, and they seem to be tossing these out... FASTER... I GUARANTEE You, that 80% of Reason users, actually know/utilize about 15-20% of the full potential of the software...At BEST.
We are a culture obsessed with the "new". Many people subscribe to the notion that "grass is greener on the other side of the fence." However, the TRUTH is, that Grass is Greener, healthier, and more robust, wherever/when we Care for, and Water it.
We want the browser to be paired with the other soundbank and custom preset folder . Please, long time reason user here, been buying your suite product and a lot more.
Please , why dont you just have release a free update for the sequencer that was outdated and give people the choice of wich browser they want, attach or detach. I'ts still the same software. Please , don't fall in the greedy way of doing thing.

@@MikeFavila You can do it with automation curves but not in the fades on each audio clip(As far as I know). When editing a lot of audio, using automation each time does not really make sense from a workflow standpoint. It's not a huge issue, but I'd like to see it.

New devices are always nice and a great addition… but it’s about time you put some work into improving and modernizing the sequencer, which looks like a bit of a turd and is waaay outdated compared to Logic’s or Pro Tools’ timelines/sequencers (10+ years stagnant).
I still can’t choose to work in Reason over Logic simply because of the sequencer/timeline, even though I would want to make the switch.
Making a few additions or deletions to the new version will not solve the problems. This daw was left alone, untouched. If I had to give an example; When I open NI the computer crashes. However, I have no problems with Studio One. I have been using reason since version 5. Actually, I'm always waiting for this daw to get better.

zooming sounds great! but i hope were not being charged another $259cnd for that upgrade. Another 80's VST synth or a new compressor is the last thing we need.
Please tell me reason 13 will have automatic bpm detection/ auto time stretch for mimic so you can quickly browse loops with the tempos already matching the tracks bpm.

Best update since Reason 12! This one feels different in a major way!
The devices are Reason Studios usual high standards, The click drag down to zoom is good, finding position zooming with that bar at the bottom it 12 is annoying. I need independent zoom for the Rack or a fast zoom for the rack, like you zoom into the rack in this video, You should make it as fast and as easy for us to zoom into any rack device like that. You should also work on introducing Stem as soon as possible to stay competitive with what is now becoming standard among DAWs and plugin brands.
I use zoom in Win10 here with "win key" + "nunpad +" in a extra mouse button shortcut, its help a lot

Devices look awesome, stoked. I use Echo in every production, the Ripley will likely get a lot of use in my work. Also the Monotone has gotten tons of bassline usage, the Polytone again looks like a very useful continuation. I use Pump RE in nearly every track also somewhere, so the tools also look like a useful advancement on great ideas. Even the cross-fader mode thing is a useful idea. No fluff. Very cool. Reason user since V1 and it's my only DAW now. My set up is hardware and Reason. Can't wait to upgrade! P.S. I recently bought Objekt and it's amazing unlike any other synth I've used. I have loved Propellerhead innovative ability since I played with Rebirth the first time. It is not my main DAW (Logic) but Reason always makes it fun! Fun, creative and playful. And for that a pay monthly gladly.

All these fancy new extensions don't really matter to me if anything listed below wasn't taken care of:
- clip/midi grouping
- custom keyboard shortcuts
- complex but fast midi/clip manipulation with ctrl, shift, alt / left, right mouse combination like in FL Studio
- horizontal window split (for panoramic monitors)
- a favorite list that doesn't loose track of your samples after renaming/relocating them
- players with actual ability to trigger patterns from your keyboard/launchpad
- importing and exporting FLAC files.
I know this isnt what you want to hear, because reason users have usually gone DIY out of necessity and you've likely found a shortcut, but: x-mouse buttons for windows is great for rebinding the mouse (I use it for zoom and a hotkey-second layer for midi hotkeys). I use the back button (mouse 5) for 'play from start of selection' etc. I agree tho, would love custom shortcuts with standard import/export .json or something. Or at least a hidden way to change them in a file without having to code a new place in the setup for keys. The Reason preferences are notoriously simple compared to other DAWS and I feel like this is intentional... Maybe when something core like that is baked in for 10+ versions, it would be a bitch to rebuild. So it's like a LOE vs ROI and this is a very niche feature for a subset of folks. Not saying it wouldn't be amazing, but wondering if it will ever happen at all.
I'm waiting for a sale, $200 upgrade is cra-cra-crazy!
It's now. But tbh, I see the point with specialiced devices for faster results. But as a hobbyist, the upgrade is maybe not worth 20% of full reason 12 yet. Then maybe 1 VST instrument like serum is a better invest - for now. As far as I understood upgrade from any to newest version costs the same.
They won't let me run Reason 7 without internet authorisation anymore. Or download my Rack Extensions. :(

@@bristyla to much work comping 3-4 minutes of midi, that are not in tempo sync, and it requires one to have pushed the record button, which is not allways the case, when you just sit and jam

This can be just an update, not an upgrade. As always since Propellerhead is dead, Reason is just here to make money. Back in the day, update was very about quality improvements and adding devices... Now you need to subscribe or pay 199€ to have a new version with few improvements.
I am just really happy that A) Reason Studios is still playing the game and keeps supporting my favorite music production tool ... and B) they have not abandoned the sequencer. Will get the upgrade as soon as it's out.
