I've heard a LOT of roots and PD blowers in my day, but always on American V8s that only rev to 6500. Hearing one go past 8k like this Audi 4.2L is an aural treat. Sounds like the blower is gonna crap itself at that high rpm... :-) Very cool. Thanks for posting!

@7angofragger - Yes, the DBW is holding the revs, and MTM installed a very light flywheel which made it even worse. The engine calibration wasn't final on this car, it was very difficult to drive smoothly.
i'm a volkswagen technician who usually tinkers with american muscle for fun, but that 4.2 litre fsi v-8 blown, running at 8000+ rpm, definently gives me a woody. awesome piece of machinery, i want one.
@AdrianosFidi - actually the Apollo uses a completely different engine. It's based of of the old RS6 engine which uses a totally different block (and timing belt vs timing chain) when compared to the RS4. No direct injection and 5 valves per cylinder too.

@Logistican518 - The tune was still a prototype. I actually received the fault for going over 170 mph/280 km/h on the highway before. The production version of the kit does not have that problem.
I own and like my A4, that is until today when I saw an Audi the same color as mine, I attempted to just pull up next to it and give a thumbs, when it grunted and took off! I got close at a stop light and could make out the RS4 badge. I got close, but it sunk it's rear to the ground and took off. Impressed and sad at the same time, I know my lil 4 banger had no chance. Trying to resist the modification bug.

I baught the Miltek exhaust and the sound is just unreal... the roaring is incredible, yet very smoth within the car... it does not sound like a farting 4 cylinder like the Golf GTR etc. This is by far the best sounding V8 ever built in this car class. I will never sell mine.
is there any other turbo or compresor posible to put on rs4 b7 ??? i mean from tuning houses ? that mtm thing is awsome but far to expansive tuning,thanx
@Zmxtilt I think the MTM supercharger kit is close to 15,000.... then the exhaust and any suspension work, this car has probably about 30-35000 put into it easily (i dont think it modifications end at a supercharger, exhaust and roll cage). MTM stuff isnt cheap at all, you could probably get the similar or same results for closer to 15,000 if you know how to do it yourself and shop around or buy used.

In retrospect, it all comes down to technique aswell, If you enter a bend at high speed, and input more than a certain amount of steer, inevitably traction will be lost, and you will ALWAYS break traction at the front first. (hence initial understeer) no matter what you drive. But, if you just momentarilly get on the breaks just before the bend, in order to shift the centre of gravity slightly onto the front wheels, and then enter the corner under slight positive throttle, no understeer.

In addition opening my rear toe to 0.05deg (per wheel) and slackening the rear camber to only 1'15deg on Audi transormed the corner entry and rotational mid corner characteristics of this front hevy quattro car. However its true that diving the RS4 really needs to be weight transfer oriented whereas with the M car you can easily take some esses w/o any throttle adjustment (however widening the front track also helped a lot). Now with Mchelin PS2s I get no understeer on both cars.
@gophop You're misinformed. B7 RS4 is the same engine as the B7 S4 but finely tuned which is naturally aspirated 4.2L V8. The twin turbo S4 you speak of is the B5 S4 2.7t.

It is not AUDI, it is AUDIJET. Amazing car. Since 1996 I did over 360000 km on my A4 and did not break yet. Will buy a new one when it breaks down.

I don't think RS4 has 4 exhaust pipes as std. At least not the ones I saw in the uk. Are they after market ones?
