I can't believe somebody sat down and made this and did it in such a way that I would absolutely 100% believe that it was made by a major developer 20 years ago.
This puts a massive smile on my face. I wasn't around during the golden age of PS2 or PS1, but being broke for most of my childhood, all I had access to was a PS2 that my dad used to own, so this feels somewhat nostalgic with how old it looks.
I feel you, I used to only be able to play 4 games on my ps2 and most of them I saved up money just to buy the 3. Then for me I was lucky enough to buy a good Ps1 from a garage sale for 10 dollars. I remember playing on it and loved the feels and even seeing demakes like his makes me appreciate what I experienced more and cherish it.
I love how they changed aspects of the game to fit more with the era, like insight acting almost like stars in Mario 64 and the game feeling more segmented overall. I also can’t believe that free aim wasn’t in the original.
Yeah definitely. I liked the changes that matched how games were during that era. The loading times between locations, insight serving as power stars. It's exactly how a game would be during that time when platformers were huge. This game almost reminded me of Castlevania 64 but if it was actually good
@@omegawario7479 If that is what you mean I can tell you why it is not in the original. It does no damage. It's purpose is to parry for the most part. Some guns can do damage, but they take a lot of resources(I forgot what it was called). And free aim is pretty shitty when the moving target is extremely mobile. There is really no point to it.

Of all the demakes or "PS1-style" games I've seen out there, this is the best-looking one by far. The most "authentic" in graphics, sound, general aesthetics and presentation and game mechanics. The one also with the most effort put into it too. A lot of stuff I've seen on say the PS1 Horror Demo Disc stuff seems seem very one-note, overly simplistic, or doesn't resemble a PS1 game in any way whatsoever. A game like Dread Delusion for example, looks shaping up to be an awesome game but it doesn't look in ANY way like a PS1 title. And there's this one game, I don't remember what it's called, it's Left Wing "Mucho Texto" Meme the Game basically. It stars rats fighting a capitalist system run by cats or something. All the game is is moving around and interacting with characters and reading so much text that you could have spent the same time reading the entirety of In Search of Lost Time five times over. I don't think the creator knew how to cleverly incorporate his politics into the game. World run by "fat cats" and money is "chedda" and the rest is like a bad college essay on The Communist Manifesto longer than The Communist Manifesto itself.

During the Gascoigne fight, I imagined what it would've been like to play this game, if it had come out as an actual ps1 game back in the day, and how ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING it would have been to play.
You know... despite looking old af, this still looks incredibly good. I think graphics are not the only thing to have upgraded since the ps1 era. If this game actually excisted on the ps1 it would have likely been the best game of the ps1.
If a game can go back many years of graphics and still feel good you know it's a good game. Demakes are honestly a gem, I kind of like seeing stuff like that for pokemon games.
While I do appreciate being able to admire all the beatiful artwork in normal bloodborne with clearer lighting I really love how it's actually dark outside in this version. It really adds to the feel of the game here.

This is an amazing demake. Not sure if Charlie got to find it but this game also has Old Hunter Henryk and the crow cape lady if you travel back to Gascoigne’s place after re-lighting all the lanterns. You can get both of their sets, it’s great.
Never played Bloodborne, any Souls game, or even a PS1 game, but I can still appreciate the sheet amount of effort and love that went into something like this. Actually incredible work.

Excellent touch like the inclusion of the Winter Lantern and Gilbert as a boss, which were apparently super-early ideas for Central Yarnham that got cut at some point
Honestly one of the coolest fan made projects, bloodborne always felt like it was a game that would come out in the 90s considering how much passion and atmosphere was put into it.
We did it was called Nightmare Creatures, it was the original souls game and the game that inspired Bloodborne etc. Shame it got forgotten to time it was a damn masterpiece :(

There was an absolute cuthroat bidding war and the development was super inspired, but then Activision and Sony (who both won the bidding war, just for different regions) couldn't decide on how to advertise it and it basically got released without even an announcement.
I've literally just started Bloodborne on PS4. What a game. Frustrating but awesome, and got to the Cleric Beast in just under 3 hours (seen it has taken some people 10 plus hours to do this), but can't beat him at the moment, however i managed to get half his life down on my 2nd go. I still have more to explore around this area so will do this first and hopefully upgrade more before I face him again. For me this is my first souls type game and my interpretation is that it's Hollow Knight (Metroidvania which I've completed) meets Hades (Roguelike - still playing and its also awesome), but in 3rd person. This game has got me hooked, even though you die and repeat alot, but it's fascinating and it will likely take me a long time to complete (family and work commitments plus other games), but I'm up for the challenge.
Oh it wasn't the _entire_ game de-made. I guess that would be a nigh impossible undertaking for one person realistically. HOWEVER, this is super impressive and the dedication to make sure the details match a game of its time from sound quality to controls to even having a setting to purposefully kneecap the framerate at points. It's super cool that someone made this and the passion really shows.
This made me nostalgic for games like the original Alone in the Dark and Nightmare Creatures games, still own them as part of my very small collection of PS1 games.

Oh my god it works so well - something about old games and graphics in games like Legacy of Cain or Medevil really work to sell a creepy atmosphere out of very little. Not only does this make Bloodborne feel Nostalgic somehow, but the actual feel of the game just works so dam well in low poly and res graphics.
The nostalgia this brings is amazing. This used to be my favourite ps1 game back in the day. Sometimes when my mother was not at home, my older brother would secretly let me play this.

Free aim? You mean not locking on? That's definitely in the original. I played it to platinum trophy. Some bosses are undoable with locking on.

We did it was called Nightmare Creatures, it was the original souls game and the game that inspired Bloodborne etc. Shame it got forgotten to time it was a damn masterpiece :(
@@FaelienInvader It's sad because NMC almost did really well. There was an absolute cuthroat bidding war and the development was super inspired, but then Activision and Sony (who both won the bidding war, just for different regions) couldn't decide on how to advertise it and it basically got released without even an announcement.
I've literally just started Bloodborne on PS4. What a game. Frustrating but awesome, and got to the Cleric Beast in just under 3 hours (seen it has taken some people 10 plus hours to do this), but can't beat him at the moment, however i managed to get half his life down on my 2nd go.
I still have more to explore around this area so will do this first and hopefully upgrade more before I face him again.
For me this is my first souls type game and my interpretation is that it's Hollow Knight (Metroidvania which I've completed) meets Hades (Roguelike - still playing and its also awesome), but in 3rd person.
This game has got me hooked, even though you die and repeat alot, but it's fascinating and it will likely take me a long time to complete (family and work commitments plus other games), but I'm up for the challenge.

Oh it wasn't the _entire_ game de-made. I guess that would be a nigh impossible undertaking for one person realistically. HOWEVER, this is super impressive and the dedication to make sure the details match a game of its time from sound quality to controls to even having a setting to purposefully kneecap the framerate at points. It's super cool that someone made this and the passion really shows.
Plus, I doubt an action game on ps1 would be that long realistically.
This made me nostalgic for games like the original Alone in the Dark and Nightmare Creatures games, still own them as part of my very small collection of PS1 games.

The Gothic atmosphere of Bloodborne fits so well with the PS1 aesthetic. Everything is dark and nostalgic and I absolutely love it.

Only being able to see 15 feet ahead of you adds an insane level of difficulty.

That's exactly what i thought! I also noticed the cutscene when opening one of the first gates looked exactly like something out of NC. It's almost like a spiritual successor lol
@@sslingo yes, as soon as I saw a bit of the gameplay, quickly Nightmare Creatures comes to mind. Makes you wonder, that underrated PS1 classic could have inspired many other gothic/horror stylised 3rd person action games.

Oh my god it works so well - something about old games and graphics in games like Legacy of Cain or Medevil really work to sell a creepy atmosphere out of very little. Not only does this make Bloodborne feel Nostalgic somehow, but the actual feel of the game just works so dam well in low poly and res graphics.
Been playing this on a 1988 CRT monitor and it's somethin special lmao.
This is definitely looks like a PS1 game, right down to the warping/wobbly 3d graphics.
The nostalgia this brings is amazing. This used to be my favourite ps1 game back in the day. Sometimes when my mother was not at home, my older brother would secretly let me play this.
