Even as good as Marty Stewart was, when he was on the stage with one of the old greats he still got that look of wonderment on his face like he was thinking 'I can't believe I'm standing up here with this legend.'
Good ol Andy Griffith! He's a legend in both country and acting, and he's pure down home country gold. North Carolina boy born and raised just like myself.
He was never a good person. He cheated on his wife the whole time he filmed his tv show and turned out to be an extreme left obama funding/supporting communist. You never hear of him doing a good deed but there are countless stories of him being rude or mean to waitresses. He even punished his friend Don Knotts who wrote most of the tv show for leaving the show to pursue other work and further his career. He shut Don out he he asked to rejoin the show. There was no good in andy griffith, just a life of selfish meanness.
I really wish I could have met him. There's not alot of stars I want to meet, but he was definitely one of them. Do you live by Mayberry ? I have a a cousin that does. Yup I'm jealous lol.
I love Earl Shrugs! He has been a favorite of mine for many years. When he and Lester Flat played together, they were the best in country music! They are 2 country greats that will never be forgotten!
I used to watch Flatt & Scruggs on Saturday afternoons when I visited my grandmother's house when I was a kid in the 60's. It was a staple in her house, my 2 great aunts lived there as well, and we had a great time. ❤❤❤
Love Banjo music Best Banjo player ever 😊 My Grandpa courted my Grandma with a Banjo, music and dinner every Sunday on her parent's farm. Had a horseless carriage that he escorted my Grandma to church and social functions with.😊 They liked country music They were married for almost 66 years when he passed my grandma passed away the following year .
SO glad I found this video, so cool to see Andy present Earl the hall of fame award, long time coming if you ask me, who better to present it than Andy Griffith American Icon RIP ANDY AND EARL
I may very well have Andy Griffith and his show to thank for introducing me to bluegrass. I've had a wide influence in music, but as far as I can remember there was no bigger input for this wonderful genre in my formative years (the 70s) than my love for the Andy Griffith Show. Thanks you, Andy, for finding it so important to instill the love of music in your viewers. He wasn't without fault, but I think, at his core, he was an American first and foremost. I owe many of my morals to his show.
I was in Nashville that afternoon and had backstage clerance for the Opry, but decided to head back to Virginia. When I hear this on WSM, I was about sick. Andy was supposed to do the 2nd show, but was having problems with Guillain-Barre syndrome and missed the 2nd show. I listened all the way home, just like I did for so many times.....
Marty Stuart who was playing with Lester Flatt and the Nashville Grass when he was 14. Marty was responsible for Earl and Lester having a final meeting when Lester was on his death bed. Wow. Some history on that stage!
Unforgettable moments fans, get in action and organize the replay, who is willing to sing along, let only music rule the world & let it sound just this good ❤🎉❤
This is reminiscent of when Denver Pyle had with Andy the musicians in the Andy Griffith show. But this finally recognition given to Earl Scruggs is tops!
North Carolina? I thought MATLOCK was from Georgia! I knew Andy was a country music fan. He was featured in a Brad Paisley music video and had the likes of Randy Travis on his TV show. It's hard to believe he's been gone so long. Miss him!
Matlock , his character, IS from Georgia. Andy, the actor, was from Mt Airy NC. That is what Andy based Mayberry off of, his town in NC. I think you got his character from Matlock confused with the actual guy.
Sheriff Andy and Earl Scruggs! Amazing 👏
Even as good as Marty Stewart was, when he was on the stage with one of the old greats he still got that look of wonderment on his face like he was thinking 'I can't believe I'm standing up here with this legend.'
The better they are, the greater their capacity for humility. Ain't it always the way.
And, Marty first stood on stage with the "old greats" at age eight !
Good ol Andy Griffith! He's a legend in both country and acting, and he's pure down home country gold. North Carolina boy born and raised just like myself.
So explain why his special họmọsexụạl rights ?
He never liked mexican !
He was a very amazing man

Earl Scruggs is one performer who belongs on the Grand Ole Opry stage !
Well, not anymore. LOL
So did the late five time world champion banjo player Raymond Fairchild but he preferred playing at his own opry house in Maggie Valley, NC
Love Earl.
He was the man on stage or off i new Earl good down home real man
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Has there EVER been a more humble man as Earl Scruggs.
If there is or was it would be a tough job to find one! Earl scruggs was the greatest but he never acted like he was!
Jesus
Came from the humblest of roots, rose to the top, and never hurt anyone
❤❤❤❤❤
That’s when country was country and one of the best guitar pickers that I think ever lived was Andy Griffith

God bless American music!!!
I first saw earl Scruggs when I was 18......im 64 now:) I love bluegrass because of him.
I enjoy real bluegrass because they don't use drums ❤
Grew up loving Andy Griffith! Loved his and Barney Fife on Andy's TV show!
Grew up listening to Earl Scruggs, love banjo music! My Uncle played! Love how all that moves is the fingers, not their hands!
Sure do miss these folks and their music. Simply the best.
Earl and his three sons are gone. We were blessed to have them !
RIP all of them.
25 years ago was a wonderful time to be alive. Cheers!
The joke Andy told reminds me of the jokes my granddaddy would tell. Two great men that are gone that I wish were still here.
I always like to hear the Sheriff speak I watch Matlock every morning on TV here.
Well rehearsed song by Andy Griffith and the award was awesome!!!!
Oh how I miss Johnny Russell, met him and was absolutely pleasure talking with.
This was a night to celebrate long time coming induction for Earl, and wonderful chance to be on the Opry for Andy
I know that when my daddy got to heaven he got to meet two people he enjoyed. 😊 This video is classic.
SO glad I found this video, so cool to see Andy present Earl the hall of fame award, long time coming if you ask me, who better to present it than Andy Griffith American Icon RIP ANDY AND EARL
A Face in the Crowd blew my mind watching Andy Griffith play, song and act like a BOSS!!!!!! 🏆🏆🏆💖
“I ain’t got time to kiss you now, my mule is running away.”

Oh gosh, and Randy and Gary Scruggs, too. Miss them.
I was in Nashville and the Grand Ole Opry I like the city and its American atmosphere. Id go back again and hangout downtown.

Priceless !! Marty Stewart my fav !!
Priceless enough said.
I was privileged to attend “The Earl Scruggs Review” at CSU (ca 1977). Amazing performance! 😊
as one that had grown up in the 80s this was great listening to these fine gentlemen! scruggs was so humble you can see it in his face!
Glad I got to see this!
Mister Banjo! Nothing could be plainer or clearer!!!
and, oddly enough, when he tells the joke, I'm suddenly in "Floyd's Barber Shop" with the delightful Howard McNear holding court....
TNN. Those were the days
(the late) Earl Scruggs was the "Eddie Van Halen" of blugrass, such that he re-wrote the book on how the banjo was played.
Very entertaining and enjoyable with perfect harmonies. Thanks for sharing your beautiful music. Following from Sydney Australia.
Love Andy Griffin❤
Marty Stuart with Lester all those years ago.
And Andy singing a song that's actually got 15,000 floating verses to it! LOL
This is reminiscent of when Denver Pyle had with Andy the musicians in the Andy Griffith show. But this finally recognition given to Earl Scruggs is tops!
That was The Dillards on that show.
I expected Mr Darling coming out with his jug and count them down and say grab something and hold on and away we go 1234
Amazing talent that God has created ❤❤❤❤❤
He did this song on his tv show with Clarence and Roland White and their band.

I love Old Country Music ❤
He was the master of the banjo.. he could make it talk
He could make it sing.
Earl was such a humble guy. Very proud of his banjo Pickin. Man of few words.
I just loved Andy so much. ❤❤great actor and singer. Him and Barney made a perfect pair for laughs on that show.
Wow, what an ironic moment. Andy Griffith inducting Earl Scruggs into the country music hall of fame at the Grand Ole Opry. Both are missed!
