I was advised to propagate lots of leaves because not all of them would grow roots. They all survived, so now I have 30 baby succulents and nowhere to put them...
Haha I was told the same thing, I am currently propagating about 10 leaves, a cutting, and a stump, so if they all survuve I will have no room lol
update: five are now dead
Update: after I posted my last comment, I went to Walmart and rescued some plants, so I took some leaves from each plant and now I have a ton of little babies from the first bunch and then the second batch of leaves I set out are rooting and im so excited
my kitten attacked the plants, so planting so many wasn't a mistake after all. The last seven babies are looking good though!
Love these updates
Wow, it took 6 months for the plant to start growing and stuff and I am here freaking out because nothing happened in one WEEK.
I know you posted this comment like a year ago, but i have had my cuttings on soil for the past month and now they are starting to grow some nice roots. How are yours doing? They are probably a full grown plant by now
I was freaking out because the ones I have had for a week weren't doing anything..This video has helped
Right hahahaha
@@97ana I have bunch of nice looking succulents grown from leaves
Omg I love you. None of my homies get as excited about my plants as I do and I feel like you understand plant motherhood and pride lolol 😭💞
+Eva do Couto hahahahahahaha yes!!!
Your echeverias are stretched out because these ones LOVE full sun. Outdoors only for those ones and they will look like beautiful roses :)
I LOVE your enthusiasm about the new growth! I get like that with my propagating as well! I got all excited with you! Lol
Yes!! Same here. 🌿🌱
Me too!! It's all I think about lol 😂 I think I have turned into a full on suc addict!!
yes, turned my college daughters bedroom into a greenhouse!. ha Even have sent pic to my kids and said, '
"Look at my GRAND BABIES ha
i love your enthusiasm. it's infectious! you remind me of Dory lol.
+tokyorockstar hahahahaha! Dory--- I love that!
She reminds me of Joy from Inside Out xD
Tanya P have you seen JoyUsGarden? She reminds me of Joy and I think the name is just a coincidence.
Also if you even leave 1 leaf on the stems they have a head start and will grow babies much faster! :) They need their energy from the leaves. Speeds things along, once a baby shows up you can pluck the leave and propagate that as the baby leaves will be the energy source now.
+teesha123 ok! Thanks :)
teesha123 great tip!
This happened to me by accident. My leaf was partially ditached from the stem. Now a baby plant has come out n the leaf has started to die.Is it safe to pluck n plant it?
your excitement and love for the succulent babies makes me so happy. i feel the same way about succulents and plant babies as you do
+Jamie Smith they're so fun! :)
Ok this inspired me a few moths ago... I trusted u to pluck the leaves n let me grow, n plant the stumps,,,, now I have sooo many baby plants,,, thanks
Waiting for part 7 on the edge of my seat
+Lauren Mattice part 7???! Part 3 hasn't even been posted? Lol
I love how happy you are! Succulents give me joy as well!
I love you! Yo have made my whole succulent YEAR! I thought I was doing everything wrong! But now I’m doing a happy dance over my little succulent baby roots! ❤️🤸♀️
I love your attitude for these plants! I'm so excited to get started on this journey!!
LOVE your attitude and giggly voice! About to see if i can propagate like a BOSS. Thanks for posting
This is so exciting to watch :) I’ve just propagated my first succulent and I’m very nervous and excited !
I freaking love your enthusiasm! Just makes me wanna plant more plants!
Beginner here. Your videos will sure help me. Thanks for this 👍🏻
You sound like a really cool and real person and for that reason i love watching your vids. So good and informational.
Gotta be honest, I gave up succulents because I’m terrible with all except Christmas cacti. Even my aloes are always touch and go. Love seeing others with them though and itching to try one of those angel wing begonias just terrified and it’s too cold to bring it home just yet. Loved the video!
I’ve just started growing and collecting Succulents and wanted to try propagating some of my plants and ur videos have really helped thank you ^_^
Thanks...Very informative and entertaining...I love propagating plants, and now succulents are a special interest of mine...You know you're hooked when you look at your plants every day for changes, even though you may not see anything for weeks or months after starting a new project...But when you do notice even some very small growth, it's very satisfying...
You're so excited!! I love it!!
Please keep the videos coming! I'm new to succulents and your excitement keeps me excited! You do a great job!
I have two succulent videos! did you see the other one? :)
I just love your videos, Jordan! I'm about to propagate my first 2 leaves that I took from a friend's plant.
Hi Jordan. Great vids! Here's a tip... For the leaves that don't seem to grow roots or plants, but still stay green, pop them vertically, callus side down, into soil. However, with this method, they need at least 1.5" of soil not just a thin layer like in your propagation tray. I've used both shallow Tupperwares and regular pots. Stick anywhere from 1/4-1/3 of the leaf in the soil (your pref, but I usually put the bigger ones in deeper to hold them steady and the small ones more shallowly). For some reason, I've found this encourages roots to grow for stubborn leaves and eventually they'll sprout a plantlet, though these damn stubborn leaves do seem to take their time even once in the soil lol. But, it at least makes use of an otherwise useless leaf! Give it a try! (I honestly forgot how I figured that out but I tried it once and it's worked for me ever since.)
Also, despite being a succulent grower for the past couple years (and an avid orchid grower for the past 6-7) I learned some great tips behind the methodology regarding watering from you!
Hi qveenissac. I have some issues like your and I sensed I need to bury them in the soil :)) I started propagating my succs last month and I learned a lot from all of you guys! Thank you!
I tried this method aswell and does seem to work; but when should you take them out? Mine seem to be growing but unsure when to take them out :/
@@JoNextDoor54 I'd either pot them in an existing pot with larger succulents so they'll just blend in or pot a few leaves together in a container. You can transplant them but do so gently, trying not to disturb/stress the roots and do so when the plantlet isn't super fragile.
I am starting this tomorrow!!! THANK YOU! I love this videos! Hopefully i will grow lots suculents
I love your videos and your enthusiast :) I love succulents and I'm learning lots from you. Thanks and keep it up :)
You're so silly and enthusiastic about these succulents. I love it so much!!!! I had a succulent that my dog toppled over and I just left them in a pot cause I forgot about them and they started growing little babies :)
Cool. Learned some things. I brought my plants in for the winter a few weeks ago thinking they would hibernate for the winter, but then I noticed a second and then a third pup growing on an aloe. Breeding like rabbits, and it is very exciting I agree.
Thank you for making this video. Very well presented and interesting 😀
love your personality and your video. Thank you, Im new to succulents
Can't wait for part 3
Thank you for all the ideas on propagation! Yay ❤️
Really enjoyed your video! I'm new to the world of succulents, (other than Aloe & Jade, lol). And I had received about 8 different succulents from a wedding on Aug.4th,'17. They were tabletop decor and in small square glass planters. No one else wanted them but I did! So I brought them home. At that time I had noticed that a few leaves on some had roots so I took those off and planted them into dirt. They died almost right away. Today I transplanted all the succulents into larger pots and I noticed a few leaves again had roots. So I hit up the videos on RUclips. And I must say I watched quite a few vids before I clicked on yours and yours is by far the best for help in guiding a newbie such as myself. Now I know to just lay them upon the dirt and a new plant will grow from them.Thank you for sharing. I appreciate it! ~ A new subscriber and succulent lover
Love your videos and how excited you are about the succulents! Thanks for the tips! Currently propagating too!
+Lori Waters fun! :) good luck :)
I know it’s like 3 years later BUT!!! I’ve been getting sOoooO interesting in propagating my plants after experimenting with my 17 year old rubber tree, and I was like omg I should do this with my succulents CAUSE THEY WONT STOP GROWING and these videos make me so happy cause you’re so excited and IM SO EXCITED I just subscribed cause this is so amazing and I love it 😭😭💕💕💕💕
You sound so happy!
lol you are so passionate about your plants, I love it!
Love the videos! So cute! Just bought some more cute succulents and going to propagate too!!!
Thank you!!!! I have some correcting to do!!!! 😊
You're doing really well! It's great you're handling constructive criticism well :) Don't worry too much about the stretching of the succulents as all succulents are different and require differing amounts of sunlight! :)
I was given a few succulents as gifts but they didnt get enough sun so they all stretched and now, i have like 100 leaves and 6 stems that i just trimmed to propogate, your videos really inspire me to really take care of these. One plant was knocked over by our dogs and damaged a few leaves, when i just looked at them after a while, i saw that a few leaves already started growing a baby plant, and i didnt even know it. Thank you for your videos!
Thanks for making these awesome videos. I really enjoy them! ❤️
You are just too sweet! Your excitement is contagious! 💞
Thanks for the great videos!!!
This helps a lot, I'm gonna try to propagate some of my leaves😊

+tralamont thank for watching!
Awesome! Thanks!!
Loved your video so informative, thanks. I am going to do the rest on my leaves now.
Yah! fun!
The sunlight thing completely depends on what kind of plant you have because succulent is such an umbrella term some do well in the sun some don't
thank you ! so much jordan its very informative
I love your propagation vídeos! They're fun. Pelase do moré! Im Just getting started on succulents
+Alicia Olayvar thanks! I do have more coming :)
you are awesome!!!!!!! thank you so much for posting these videos!!! So much useful information!!!!!
Love how much you love your plants
+aaron toh :)
Thank you
for me, i had leaves from a type of kalanchoe that i put in the soil and some grew plants very fast and others grew extensive root systems but with no plants at all. i even found a leaf on the floor and it had grown roots, on the carpet
I love your enthusiam. I have an echeveria(Perle von Nurnberg) that I bought a few weeks ago and and accidentlally overwatered. A few petals(leaves) fell off and I decided to see if I could propogate them. I set the leaves aside on top of the dirt of another plant and just about when I was going to give up and toss them, one of them sprouted a baby! I promptly removed it and put it in some new succulent soil in a small homemade planter(I cut off the top rim of a plastic cup and filled it with soil and voila, a new planter). I plan on moving the baby to a terra cotta pot when it grows a little larger. Anyway, I just cut the baby from the dehydrated leaf and planted the tiny roots downunderneath the soil, of course, lightlly watered it to seal it in the soil and set it out. I'm going to take your advise about putting the baby in full sun just yet. I'll keep in high indirect light for now. Wish me luck. Followiing your advice and instructions, I don't see how I could fail!
Great job on the video !!! Thanks !!!
We both get just as excited about plants! 💖💗
+Sachi Davis haha! Yes!
Part three? I just keep rewatching these. 😂❤
Hello Jordan!!!
I first saw your video I think around two years ago, the "bronzer for pale skin" and a few more of your makeup tutorials. They really helped me because I kind of have pale skin too.
I recently started watching a lot of RUclips videos again, and I remembered how I liked your videos so I searched for you and I've been watching a lot since.
Two years ago I didn't have an account so I couldn't comment.
I love your videos and I think you're so cute and a very beautiful person inside too.
And congratulations on your marriage ❤️❤️❤️
Sending love and support from Japan!!!

Jordan Rosendale - Awe thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it
love love love !!!!
Awesome videos, Jordan! I just started growing a lot of succulents (I've grown a few here and there in the past, but just got a bunch of new ones), and wondered how to propagate and care for them! This video series have definitely been helpful! I do have one suggestion; why not do a giveaway?! You should totally do a giveaway for your viewers, and the winners should get a cutting or two from your propagation farm! I would love that, and I'm sure others would too! Thanks again for your videos, and your consideration. Kindest Regards, Ashley
wow thank you for your information. it turns out I didn't really know how to water succulents
I fuckin love your videos, girl! Lol I get just as excited when my succs start growing lmao
The way how you talk is sooo cute
Love your succulent videos! So cute, my inspiration ^_^!
+Sheehan Gardiner :) :)
I had part of a cactus leaf sitting in my garage for three years and I decided to pot it. After 4 months it’s 4 feet tall and 3 feet wide
Thank you for the videos! I just got started with succulents and don't know anything! I watched all your videos and got so excited! I want to be able to propagate too. What kind of soil do you use and do you use fertilizer when you are propagating?
your succulents are streched out they need more sun light
+sydnie cruz Got it!
Jordan Rosendale how do you know when the succulents are ready to be propagated?
Any time when the plant is well established with a good amount of leaves, or if it is very stretched. If it is very stretched, cut off some of it and leave a couple of leaves on the stump of it. You can pluck some leaves off of the portion that was cut off and you can let the cut off portion callous and then do the same thing as you do with leaves.
Julia Cat actually when they start to look more 'stretched out' from the side view they can be propagated. Technically speaking, if you want to keep the parent plant, you can just remove the bottom leaves. This can prevent insects from inhabiting the rotted leaves there. Hope you find this useful. P.S good luck with your succulent!
Christine Kho thank you for the help
if you want to put your succulent into a container without a drainage hole you can either put one in or you can put a layer or rocks/ pebbles at the bottom and mix some small pebbles or perlite into the soils and do a deep water about once a month and mist it with a spray bottle 1-2 times a week
hey thanks for uploading these! i accidentally left my succulents out to freeze day after thanksgiving and ive been really worried on how to keep them going even tho a lot of the leaves are dying. I'm gonna go ahead and propagate the liveliest leaves and hope for the best!! Thanks again I had no idea so much went into succulent care :)
Good luck!!
Thank you so much for this. My succulent didn't survive the move to a new pot and I was so sad. I decided to try propagating, and I was really worried I was doing it wrong. This video has given me so much hope. Thank you!!
Great advice honestly , I've had similar experiences. But during the summer I highly recommend putting them all outside, you will be surprised with the shape and color improvement
+Regan Thompson ok! I will next year! :)
this is so helpful thank u!!!!
+ella penso welcome!!
Cool vids!
+Gary A thanks Gary!
