      I know I'm very late but I'm actually a front end associate at Lowe's so I see first hand at what really goes and it really isnt just the garden associates being lazy or careless its mor for less just being under staffed and not being able to properly care for them. Right now we have our manger for our gardening center having to run both garden and seasonal and being the only one who actually knows to to care for the house plants we have. I'm a succulent lover and I'm always on the look out for clearance plants and our garden manager knows they arent well taken care of and will discount almost anything that isnt brand new (I'm talking like orchids that we've had for a month going down to like $5), also home depot takes better care of their plants so if anyone wants good succulents for a good price I would go there first.

  • @kathleenmurphy2379

    thank you for this amazing!I am fairly new to succulents. So you're video has shown me what to do with succulents that are reduced or struggling at the store. I was just at Home Depot and I think it was like July 11th and they had huge wire baskets with that coconut coir fiber in the pot. they were supposed to be $30 a basket and they have about 10 succulents in and they reduce them to 20. The one I bought had a handful of string of pearl strands that's the reason I bought it but there was no hole in the bottom of the plastic liner in this fiber liner. We had just gotten a lot of rain and I don't think the lady who was watering realized succulents need to be dry so you could bring out the soil it was so wet. I've taken them all out to try to get them to dry up and then I'll report it plus I put holes in the plastic so it can drain. I've been watching Maria on Maria's gardeningshould read Maria's Garden on RUclips. You might enjoy watching her because she has her own succulent nursery and everything she sells she has grown herself. she's amazing and I've learned so much from her. And she stepped specializes in desert roses. I have gotten brave enough to start my own RUclips channel. I couldn't change the name to something that had to do with plants so it's just Kathleen Murphy and my first couple post have to do with orchids and coleus so if you put orchids or coleus along with my name you'll find my channel. I just started with Orchids last November and I now have probably 40. Another lady and man on RUclips showed me how to take care of them and that was Rick of Rick's orchids this shows me how all the nutrients worked in orchids and he has a lot of different ones has a background in Hydroponics he's great. He has a sansevieria that he's had for years and it's blooming and he has a huge 200 lbstaghorn fern part of that weight is from the metal hanger that it has. He has to have people help him bring it in for the winter amazing plants over 20 years old I think. Also Caroline who lives in Canada she combined her name and her husband's name Jack and hers is Jacqueline's orchids but you have to spell Jacqueline j a c o l y n to get to her Channel. She's the reason I'm addicted to orchids besides all my other planet dictions.should say addictions plants. I'm using the microphone on my tablet and it's hard to go back and correct things. it's very easy to speak unless my tablet do the writing. I also use the microphone on my cell phone keyboard but I'm not on my cell phone right now. Caroline lives in Canada and has a greenhouse in our backyard and also overwinters a lot of her plants like geraniums and in the spring grows all her tomatoes and cucumbers and things like that for her vegetable garden. She's a wonderful person but please go to my channel Kathleen Murphy and add orchids or coleus 2 the search engine on RUclips. I would appreciate any technical help on how to make my channel better with my cell phone I don't use a computer. I'd also like any comments that could help me be a better plant caretaker how much does a plant mother there are like my children are my babies. I love my plants and if you go to Maria's Garden she loves her plants and is kissing them all the time. She also has flowers in her hair or branches of Bougainvillea or 4 Milly is hanging from her hair sometime so she's very entertaining to watch should say bromeliad not 4 Milly don't know how my microphone got that accept I guess I didn't enunciate the words correctly. Just found your station and I love it hope you don't mind I make loan comments take care of my new plants friend and thank you for all your information here

    Interesting video but not quite complete in its information. You said that you use alcohol and some oil that I couldn't catch the name. Please, what kind and percentage of the alcohol you sprayed? Exactly, help us to recognize the parasites, do they infest the root or the leaves? Include the oil's name as well, and please how, where, or when to use it? All that would help A LOT!

    • @succulentlivingbymarija8872
      @succulentlivingbymarija8872  4 года назад +13

      TN1061 I use 70% alcohol from any grocery store. If it’s 90% alcohol it has to be mixed with water. I also use organic 100% neem oil. In this case I ended up using alcohol. I use either neem oil or alcohol. I haven’t seen any pests on roots but preventatively I sprayed the roots as well as the leaves. I have shown mealy bugs for a moment, they look like mini cotton balls. I saw no other pests. I do have other videos where I talk about aunts, mites or aphids. Hope this helps! Thank you for your questions! 😊❤️

Some plants I sprayed with one some with the other. When I see mealy bugs I usually use alcohol. Both are safe for top of the plant as well as roots and soil.

    His is the time of year I buy succulents for discount. I do my reporting and propagation. Them on Nov. 1st. I do this yearly. I learned from Martha Stewart that trimming your trees on November first was when to do it.
    M my trees and buses in my yard. Getting ready for winter and the upcoming spring 2921. I never have serious issues. Things that I’ve learned to understand and developed my routine. Sounds like you do to. It depends on our plant zone. I still do Order plants online from California. Used to live there and could buy all year round. But now that .i don’t live there my-schedule had to become a routine. My saying is “make not want not.....lol. I honestly have trained myself to follow the calendar and do accordingly depending on where I live. I don’t have Issues that I can’t get through them successfully. with not much dying if anything at all dying. Plants succulents and cacti are resilient as are we. This has been my routine for about 20 years. Good luck y’all make your detail Ed plans and journal them, follow them, you’ll be so happy you did. #allplantscansurvivewithpropercare.

    • @succulentlivingbymarija8872
      @succulentlivingbymarija8872  6 лет назад +5

      Kaklong Kaklong that’s a really good question! It all depends what succulent died from. If it’s fungus or mite (like aloe mite) or root mealy bugs I would throw the soil right away. But if it’s other issues I usually reuse it. For example if succulent dried up from lack of water or sometimes even from overwatering I reuse it. You can spray the soil with neem oil or you can sterilize soil in the oven or microwave or hot sun.

    • @succulentlivingbymarija8872

      nana jack What I meant is I will use either one. I have sprayed all my plants with neem oil before getting them inside this fall. Roots are also safe to spray. However, neem oil seems at times to be better at prevention. Usually when I see a lot of mealy bugs on leaves I use alcohol to remove them. So leaves on these plants I sprayed with alcohol because I saw mealy bugs. I ended up not using neem oil.

    • @succulentlivingbymarija8872

      nana jack you should be ok if you spray top with alcohol and rest with neem oil. I have done it before 😊

    Love the video! I've been getting clearance plants for awhile now but have never bothered with the glued-in-stones ones. How do you break it up and get the plant out safely? and clean the pot! Thanks and love your work!

    • @succulentlivingbymarija8872
      @succulentlivingbymarija8872  6 лет назад

      Jess Muskat just run it under water. water makes the glue soften and you can remove stones and clean the pot. It does take little bit more time to get it perfectly clean and it’s recommended to do it under strainer so stones don’t end up in your sink’s disposal 😬

      That is crazy. I never knew they put glue in there. Now I know what was I dealing with few days ago with this beautiful pot I got for a $1 with a dead plant in it. It was so confusing to me the way it looked and felt when I was trying to pull it out and clean it.

      catherine saulnier I recommend buying organic neem oil (I paid 16 dollars for a small container but that will last because you mix small amounts). There are directions it’s about 1 tablespoon on 1liter of water and teaspoon of dish soap. It works as insecticide and fungicide helping fight pests and prevent fungus on succulents. Great stuff!

    Hi Marija! I’m new to succulents and plants in general. I think my plant is a crested ghost from a wedding giveaway a year or two back. It was overwatered a few months ago and transferred to a different pot and soil twice with the hopes of making them better but they never really looked as good as when I got them. Not quite sure what to do with them now. The leaves have a yellowish hue to them and look like raisins now. I hope it’s not too late for me to care for them correctly.
