  • Well, this got off to a great start with a nice lounge experience in the British Airways Galleries South lounge but the flight up to Manchester really was something else! I'll leave you to decide what you think of my experience. Did I overreact or would you feel the same way? Please let me know in the comments section.
    Either way, I hope you find this content useful, though things will hopefully improve in terms of Heathrow in any case!
    Thanks for watching and thank you for supporting this channel by subscribing and leaving your comments and likes. I really appreciate any feedback you have.
    Cheers for now!

    This flights sounds like my worse nightmare. I usually enjoy flying because it’s peace from the everyday life down below and you are usually disconnected from people being able to contact you during the flight. ✈️

      This is very true. Like I said in other comments, I should have moved seats really. Can you imagine though if this was a full, 3-4 hour flight without the option?

    I have experienced both ends of the spectrum with kids on aircrafts. I have had a woman with two kids in front of me and didn’t even know there was kids until we landed. On the opposite end I had a kid on a flight left to run up and down the aisle and try and tamper with a door mid flight while parents sat and drank beers and wine. Felt sorry for the crew as the parents just didn’t give a fuck, until quite a large gentleman accosted the dad and told him to get a grip of his kid. That was greeted with a rapture of applause from other passengers and I am sure secretly from the crew too.

    • @LetsMakeaTrip
      @LetsMakeaTrip  2 года назад

      Yep, totally agree! I’ve had exactly the same and it’s absolutely down to the parenting. I’ve got kids myself and took them on flights from a very early age. There’s no way I’d have had them running up and down the aisle but I see that on quite a few flights. Poor parenting is the problem. Cheers mate.

    On the upper deck of a BA 747 from Seattle - twins, about 1 year old, cried for 4 hours before they finally passed out. There was a brief respite of about 90minutes and then they started again. My first flight this year after 9 months was to Glasgow and there were 7 screaming babies on board. To be honest it was heavenly enjoying a G&T , cloud surfing so I didn’t mind the kids. I’ve been known to report it to the lounge staff if kids are unruly and to be honest lounge staff are quite proactive on this as a couple of years ago in Galleries First a toddler ran into a server carrying a vat of hot porridge to top up the buffet and a lot of it was spilt on the child causing quite nasty injuries. The observant will note that since this time pre covid all replenishment items for the buffet are wheeled out on trolleys and there’s rope barriers by the kitchen doors in lounges to try ad stop children running into staff. Pre covid a couple asked me if I wouldn’t mind moving as I’d ordered some ice cream as they didn’t want it eaten in front of their children. I said I did mind and I might have ordered a few more tubs ( they were small anyway). As an uncle to an autistic nephew I know that travelling can be a nightmare so I think I’ve learnt from my sister the difference between a kid playing up and a SEN kid stressed by the situation.

    • @LetsMakeaTrip
      @LetsMakeaTrip  3 года назад

      I’ll have to look at for that next time I’m in the lounge. Thing is it’s the parents not controlling their kids again, which I blame on this flight. Just inconsideration for others in either situation really. And asking you to move because you were eating ice cream well that’s just a bloody cheek if you ask me. Just came over to Riga with Wizz Air and there were kids running up and down the aisle. Cabin crew had to make an announcement to get them to stop it. Again, not kids fault.

    For many years before BOB we used to get crisps and a drink in economy on UK Dom. I wonder whether they’ll bring back BOB after the pandemic or stick with the crisps. Did they offer coffee and tea?

    • @LetsMakeaTrip
      @LetsMakeaTrip  3 года назад

      Hi Roger! They didn’t offer tea or coffee, although I heard somewhere that if you ask for it, they can provide it. I haven’t tried this tactic but maybe someone else knows? They must have it for business class even on this short flight. Personally, I think they need to bring bob back but maybe even as a pre-order via the app? I had the same crisps and water coming back from Pisa last year which is obviously a much longer flight and would have bought something more substantial if I could have. Cheers, Mark

    An enjoyable watch though sympathise about the children. I was on a flight from Liverpool to Nice when a very young child of less than 6 months old wasn’t the best behaved shall we say. I did try and assist my wife with our youngest daughter but to no avail, lol. Spent most of the flight avoiding the stares from other passengers.

    Thanks once again for a great video Mark. I feel it was a fair review of the situation. Funny about your MAN airport observations; at least you could spend quality time in the lounge.
    The best flight i took was to Newcastle with BA, great passenger banter on board, but similarly even the pilot was shocked we got remote gated, and then locked out of the airport until someone opened the doors for us.
    Did you fly or train down Heathrow for this one?

    • @LetsMakeaTrip
      @LetsMakeaTrip  3 года назад +1

      Hi Peter and thanks for the comment. Actually I’m flying up to NCL early July with BA from Manchester (via LHR obviously). I’ve never been to Newcastle airport before so I’m really looking forward to it. I’m going to do another trip report of that and the Newcastle to Carlisle railway line. Hopefully I’ll have as good a flight as you did and of course I have plenty of time back in the lounge at LHR now that alcohol is back on the menu!
      I do seem to have quite a lot of MAN flights booked at the moment: BA, EZY, TAP, Loganair in the next month or so. Tbh, I’d use BHX if I could (which I always think is really smooth and easier to get to for me) but there just isn’t the choice unfortunately. I will probably do Aer Lingus to Dublin though at some point after 19th July.
      For this trip, I took the train down to Euston (see my previous video on cheap train tickets) then underground from there to terminal 5. All the best, Mark

    • @LetsMakeaTrip
      @LetsMakeaTrip  2 года назад +1

      Hi Mike, good to see an Oswestrian commenting on the channel (I must get up to the CambrianRailway at some point). I’ve been looking at National Express for my next trip to Heathrow. There are several direct services from Birmingham at around £20 o/w when I was looking. Taking around 3 hours I reckon it’s a viable alternative to getting the train to Euston then the underground to LHR which would be around the same time and likely more expensive. It’s definitely worth a video so watch this space as they say!
