Update: TikTok resumed U.S. operations after a 14-hour blackout that began Saturday night due to a new law requiring its separation from ByteDance. While President-elect Trump's Truth Social post promising to pause the law allowed web hosts to restore service, TikTok's future remains uncertain. The app is still unavailable on Apple and Google app stores, preventing new downloads, updates, and in-app purchases.
TikTok was sold to Meta. Zuckerberg, Shou, Musk, Trump, Bezos and the rest have colluded together to sell America to the highest bidder. Welcome to the oligarchy. TikTok died on January 18th 2025, what you are using now is NOT TikTok, delete it now for your own safety. Their servers have been migrated to Meta.
Wealth inequality, stagnant wages, greedflation, school pew-pews, social safety nets being removed, tax cuts for the rich, insane investments in law enforcement & army, student debts, hiring external cheap labor instead of domestic, etc etc. Government: "Why do they hate us?"
If only someone could change this with elections. Whats that? People are too apathetic to give a shit? Whats that? Kamala and Trump are both equally bad? Whats that? Trump won 🙀😮😯🤯😱😲🫢
It's worth noting that Pelosi, Schumer, Romney, and Biden, as well as all the leadership on both sides, said images of the Gazan g_nocide were a Tik Tok conspiracy by China. Meanwhile, CNN lied about it for a year, the New York Times is still lying, and Rachel Maddow didn't even cover it for the first 13 months. 🫠 And Schumer said, "Maybe we should sell it to Meta!!!" Meta, by the way, who blocked Facebook and Instagram posts from inside of Palestine. I think we need to take a long look at this and realize our active complicity in the BS by whining over who gets to censor what. We did a g_nocide. In broad daylight. And we're going to, "But Tiananmen Square killed hundreds of people." I know. It's disgusting. And the US government just murdered between 40,000-180,000 civiliana. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands dead from the Iraq War. It's kind of delusional how broken we are as Americans, especially now that the centrist Democrats have made politics an inane team sport. You don't get to be the good guys by joining a team. You have to earn it. Democrats learned that the hard way and then seem actively trying to pretend they didn't.
While on paper we live in a representative democracy, the truth is we do live in an oligarchy which is bordering on a corporatocracy. Which is the result of late-stage capitalism
When you attempt to protect your religion by refusing to teach critical thinking skills, you become susceptible to all propaganda, not just the info you want people to believe. Teach young people HOW to think, not WHAT to think.

I just find it funny how one of the girls was talking about "learning Mandarin". Maybe they should learn how to read and get a basic grasp on the English language first...
There are multiple variations of Mandarin. Learning one doesn't allow you to understand any of the others. That's how delusional and low I.Q. these fools are.
they should have a better understanding of other countries as a whole... these kids are jumping on a China fad, but I bet they would be much more comfortable in Japan, South Korea, Singapore, even Thailand or Vietnam, not to mention all the places in Europe as long as they say they're Canadian...
Attempting to learn Mandarin will break them. Many American students don’t even want to learn Spanish, which has many, many cognates with English. By comparison, Mandarin is so different from English as to seem alien-and I mean “alien” in the sense of, “from another planet,” not “from another country.”
@stevensolomon9512 There are at least 6 variations of Mandarin and they are all like completely different languages. These people are just really stupid

American ex-Ticktockers learning Mandarin? Seriously? I was a German teacher for about 5 years, and I can tell you that many US students struggle with German-which is considered a “hard” language for English speakers. But German is actually closely related to English, and has similarities with English that can make learning easier. It’s a snap compared to Mandarin, which is from an entirely different language family, uses tones to distinguish otherwise identical words (in listening and speaking), has an enormously complex, character-based writing system rather than an alphabet, and operates according to an entirely different linguistic logic than European languages do. Take it from a language professional, learning Mandarin is going to be a rude awakening for those “Boston Tea Party” Ticktockers. I give most of them a couple weeks before they give up the attempt.
I spent four years trying to learn Spanish, which is basically easy English, and never became fluent, though my brother did by being a foreign exchange student in Spain for three weeks, where he stayed out in the sticks with a family where the parents couldn’t speak English. Apparently, he ended up with a “Catalan” accent, which my understanding is would be like a Southern drawl or something; basically, a “hillbilly” accent! 🤣 Oh, well, at least he became fluent! I can pretty much figure out someone is speaking Spanish, but no way I could have a conversation! 😅
The girl whipping her phone around sounds gawd awfully dumb. Uggg tictoc has "slayed" peoples intelligence. 😂😂😂 Might as well sign up to the chinese communist party and get werkin'
It’s interesting the American perspective on freedom of speech. I live in the UK so our speech isn’t quite as free here, you know living under a monarchy and all that. Apparently in america it’s ok to shut down TikTok as the propaganda on that platform is dangerous, but everyone and I mean anyone can own a gun because you know to protect themselves from authoritarian government. So it’s ok to let an adolescent boy with murderous inclinations have access to military grade weapons in the name of freedom but it’s not ok to have TikTok spouting ideas, sorry I mean propaganda? My personal view is that public safety is a government concern and restricting access to guns is an obvious first step. After that, if you are at liberty to say anything then people will say anything. If you say some shit, then you should be prepared to back that up in court.
It is funny that TikTokers don't know how terrible working conditions are in China. They don't allow you to say 'suicide' on TikTok, but that's not because it's offensive. That's what is said but that is probably not true. When the Foxxcon company in China was making smart phones they worked their employes for 60+ hours a week and made them stay in housing adjacent to the factory. The employees were driven so made they threatened a suicide strike. At least 130 employees at the top of their housing threatened to jump. Most accounts say they were deadly serious. It was only then that working conditions improved slightly or just enough so they didn't go insane. They then installed nets on all Foxxcon buildings. That's why suicide isn't allowed on TikTok, because it's a labor organizing term in China.
I don't like tiktok nor do I use it, but unless there were some factual "threats of national security" then banning the app is just dumb. Data mining happens more frequently than not...
Yes, this is a tough point for non-cyber-security people to get. Here’s a simple example: apps are normally constrained to minimal access to the system they run on. That’s to keep them from stealing things like network credentials. TikTok breaks those constraints and reports back vastly more data than it’s even supposed to access. This effectively provides network back doors on millions of systems. Just for starters.
@@SchoolforHackers You’re right that TikTok overreaches, but let’s not ignore that Google and Meta built their empires on mass data mining. For over a decade, they’ve tracked users across apps, scanned messages, and used workarounds to bypass privacy restrictions-scaling back only when forced by Apple and regulators. TikTok may be even more aggressive, reportedly bypassing system constraints, but the real problem is the surveillance-based business model that all these companies rely on.

Some real facts about China, part 2: Shall we anal-ize China's "miracle" economy growth? According to statista here are the Imports (Is) and exports (Ex) to and from China, by foreign enterprises. In 1986 Is were 5.6 and Ex were 1.9 By 2006 Is were 59.7 and Ex were 58.2 By 2016 Is were 48'5 and Ex were 43.7 By 2023 Is were 32.4 Ex were 28.6 That plainly shows that the "miracle" was in no small part a product of foreign enterprises and at the cost of economies worldwide for those enterprises were attracted by cheap labor and government provided benefits. In the C-919 the plane that China hails as "homegrown" all avionics are imported. The bullet trains are based on Japanese technology dating back to the 1960's. China does produce signal and train controllers, but the reliable ones are imported. As a side note there have been zero passenger fatalities on the Shinkansen, Japanese bullet trains, since its inauguration 1964, while in China in just a single incident, the 2011 Wenzhou in a fast train collision killed 40 people and injured over 190. China no longer publishes railway deaths. Solar panels were invented in Europe and even the early machines to produce them were imported from Europe. Electric Vehicles parts like electric motors and controllers are mainly imported and the chips are 90% imported. Chips for vehicles have to withstand vibration, large temperature swings, dust, and moisture among other issues. China hasn't been able to produce such chips in the quantity required. Batteries possibly got much help from companies like Panasonic and Samsung. Also and in no small part, foreign enterprises are required to share technology, which is then passed on to SOE'S. state owned enterprises, which are heavily subsidized, subsidies that foreign companies may not get. Conclusion if China was left on its own, it, probably, would still be in the dark ages of technology
Good post. Speaking of bullet trains, look into how the Chinese buried one after it went off the tracks. The Chinese have been cooking the books for years. The economy could be up to 20% smaller than it really is.
@@CrapKerouac Y're right. The CCP at beginning of the year sets the growth rate for the year and everyone has to cook the books to match that growth, no matter floods, earthquakes, fires, any and all cataclysmic problems the goal has to be met.
I’m not going to debate on people’s opinions on what’s good or bad regarding China vs America. Both have flaws, both aren’t perfect. But before you assume I’m a useless centrist, understand that my beef with the US government is that it isn’t completely honest about its decision making. It’s my hypothesis that the real reason they moved so quickly to ban TikTok was not about data mining (because they already turn a blind eye away from American social media to doing it) but it was more difficult to control the narrative of topics like Gaza and the plight of the Palestine people the way they get the network news to all sing the same tune of Israel being the underdog in this situation.
Dude you are clueless. never mind data mining. china directly controls its citizens thoughts by controling the media, absolutely. chinese people are not allowed on tictok. tiktok is chinese propaganda made for the west. China *accommodates* to people’s salaries, so the cost of living is much less expensive. Amounting to making $47,000 a year in America! HOWEVER, the American government *MAKES NO ACCOMMODATIONS* to people’s salaries. Amounting to making $14,000 a year in China.
Let's not forget that their $20,000 salary is also what they get as part of their "996" culture. If you don't know what 996 is, look it up, then tell me you want to move to China.
4:19 The basic unit of Chinese currency is the yuan, not dollar. There's no such thing as a "Chinese dollar". It only clouds your argument to refer to it that way. Maybe lay off the tequila.
There's also another subtler answer to Dark Brandon's argument. Americans worship cars and countryside, two things that demonstrably pollute heavily and create tons of carbon emissions and destroy the environment and lower life expectancy compared to cities. Cities are better for people than rural living. They live longer and are exposed to less pollution and produce less emissions and emergency operators reach people faster. China propagandizing cities has the knock-on effect of lowering carbon emissions, cost of living, and increasing life expectancy. The panic around 15 minute cities in the west is specifically a panic around the feasibility and implementation of better infrastructure and living standards. It's a war for an inferior standard of living. So, yes, China is brainwashing people. But it's not like you can show an empty freeway and go, "America doesn't have that." Because we're Americans. We know our roads are empty and collapsing and we know rural living is a net negative on our quality of life. I think a lot of "I like it here well enough" people are more radically motivated by self-destructive nationalism than making lives better. Heck, the attack on Tik Tok was admittedly, according to Dems and Reps, an attack on images of g_nocide they can't convince people to hide or censor.
This is no different than people not understanding why California is more expensive than Kentucky or Iowa. Lmfao😅 It is not my job (or democrats) to fix stupid, if people can't see the truth about China let them move there. 🤷Lol

In 2017 President Donald Trump on Monday signed into law a controversial measure repealing online privacy protections established by the Federal Communications Commission under the Obama Administration. The rules, which would have taken effect in December, required internet service providers - including Comcast, Verizon and AT&T - to obtain permission from customers before sharing personal data like their web-browsing history. The rules were aimed at preventing internet providers from selling that data without permission. Critics of the rules argued they were an example of government overreach and were unfair because tech companies, like Google and Facebook, are not required to get such permission before tracking customers’ habits.
Are you really trying to say we don’t live it in oligarchy? Are you not paying attention? Been in China, lived there, worked there... in fact, will go back to work in China in the near future... But omg, this is not about weather China does it better than the USA, but rather about people literally spread wrong information about China in both directions. I am from Europe and the quality of life in China is only better, if you really only account for the absolute bare minimum and even then you have to be a bit picky, because the tabwater in China is not drinkable. But you will absolutely get good food over there for little money - dont let channels like 'inside china' tell you otherwhise. If you dont buy garbage, you wont get garbage, it is as simple as that for literally any place in the world... Now, if you say there is no social score, that is technically right, but the social judgement in China is harsh... ultra harsh. You will not go to jail or be prevented from doing stuff. But other people will absolutely treat you like a moron, if you act like one. Also, it is always funny, when Americans always pit 'freedom' against 'safety'... China imports a significant amount of agricultural products from the United States. They are actually not self sustaining when it comes to agriculture in support of their population’s needs.
It's the CPC, not the CCP. That was an incorrect acronym that spread around decades ago, and because casual racism against the Chinese is so normalised, nobody bothered to check it, and people actually get hostile and defensive when you point out it is incorrect. Like how "Sun Tzu" is an incorrect transliteration of Sunzi from the 19th century that is still used because racism.
Yep. I pointed out elsewhere that there are a bunch of countries at least on a par with, if not objectively better places to live, than America, some of which even have English as a primary language. China is not one of these places. 😬
Red Note is currently working to separate foreign IP addresses to a separate server. I've actually seen a Chinese American who was using Red Note to learn more about her culture she was separated from and is now concerned(honestly she was teary eyed) she will be separated out with the rest of the non Chinese residents. Now to some extent, it makes sense that they want the algorithm to cater to foreign interests, which they might believe is different than the average Chinese user. But that is a very benign interpretation of why that is occurring- control of what people see and over how they interact is far more likely. 🤷🏽♀️
What the government should have done is regulate social media in general to prevent data collection they don’t want TikTok to do. But that would have upset some big donors, so they banned TikTok instead and pissed a bunch of people off, driving them further in the direction the government doesn’t want them to go.
What an American thing to say that there were freeways without many cars on them and also see that as some type of measurement for the quality of life. In most other countries we use the excellent public transport system instead, it's just more convenient. Who wants to start every morning in a gridlock when you can read a book instead on your way to work?
So you've never heard of New York. It's a very American thing to say because you don't grasp the distances that are being talked about. There is no public transportation for many Americans to get to work because they do not live in the city where their employment is, therefore a car is necessary to get to work. The mean commuter time in America in 2023 was 26.8 minutes, with 8.9% of total commuters commuting 60 minutes of more. It's a matter of where your job is vs where you can afford and want to live, not how great the public transport system may be.
@gnohms Wait...I don't grasp the distances, me coming from a country just as long as USA from north to south? USA isn't the only place on earth with vast distances you know. We still do it. And wow, you have ONE city with some sort of public transport, good for you. Ohh, you have areas with poor vs rich people. Unheard of in the rest of the world.../s

@@SchoolforHackers
You’re right that TikTok overreaches, but let’s not ignore that Google and Meta built their empires on mass data mining.

What has come across to me which I did not understand before, is that the American people are so easily lead and manipulated, it’s staggering.
Although I am not in complete disagreement with your analysis of the inaccurate info these people are accepting as fact, this is not brain washing.
Some real facts about China, part 2:
Shall we anal-ize China's "miracle" economy growth?
According to statista here are the Imports (Is) and exports (Ex) to and from China, by foreign enterprises.
In 1986 Is were 5.6 and Ex were 1.9
By 2006 Is were 59.7 and Ex were 58.2
By 2016 Is were 48'5 and Ex were 43.7
By 2023 Is were 32.4 Ex were 28.6
That plainly shows that the "miracle" was in no small part a product of foreign enterprises and at the cost of economies worldwide for those enterprises were attracted by cheap labor and government provided benefits.

Of course, couldn't read anything as I don't speak Russian. The tour guide talked about the "new" middle class at that time. He felt it was a good thing. I agreed. You have to understand: the Chinese have a very different mind-set to the Western World. They believe there are starving children in America. There are!!! They live in a culture where if you screw up, you will get reported to the government. They are beautiful people, but very, very different. I talked with some students on the bus one day. They were very curious about American politics. I was very, very careful what I said. When they got off the bus, I asked the tour guild if they would get in trouble for talking with me. (Yes, that is a thing.) He said no, they were just curious. I was scared for them.
you are very funny , china is not north korea ok, china right now is almost nothing different from western , i mean the social stuff. please dont pretend you are kind to say chinese people are nice, but their country bad, how can nice people built a evil country????china has right not to be islamic, china has right not to be sperated, its the only reason why it has one party now!!!
"Learning Mandrin in 4 days..."
Is using a translation app considered "learning" these days? 😂
Wait until people realize the translations are going to be slightly flawed more often than not which can make communication frustrating.
I dont use Tik Tok, but do have some empathy for the people who did, especially people who have careers as you mentioned. Seeing some of these clips not helping me stay empathetic...
my Chinese born Brazilian citizen says he left China because of it communist ways, like he even said Chinese are very racist... but they have rural areas that are poor which will have very nice scenery, but it's very poor, whereas the city is rich and very expensive... as to which American don't understand that china prices are the same as US, it's the CURRENCY that's cheap, not the economy as it's very oligarchy over there, you look how big China is the city's are all clumped where's as our of the city if looks like its shacks, but it's just more rural because it's poor.
this is called Culture Shock! because again they're not being told the truth about both sides but they'll have little facts to give to you, either to scare you or make you think you're better off wherever you are. in reality you're not I'm afraid no where is
@@TheHiddeniteYour friend is mostly correct, but things are genuinely more affordable in China than in the US, it's not just a difference in currency. You can be relatively poor in China but still afford simple luxuries like eating out in a restaurant multiple times a week. It's one of the things the country has got right.
@Elcore yeah I mean I mostly know things china likes to keep hidden or just straight up censors, but I just didn't put the whole lot what he told me in, mainly because you get this type of stuff everywhere(even in UK with EDL, and neo n@z pages, it's just well hidden here) where as china it looks like they just allow anything that doesn't bully xi jinping I guess) it's mad but I'm just thinking if MAGA cares about freedom of speech thank god they're American I guess xD
but again the people in china are shocked that Americans and EU get paid a whole lot more then them for working and get two days off, but they can't do much about it, or the ccp are just that powerful?
Are they gonna move to China 😆 🤣 😂
“I’m moving to China.” PLEASE DO.
It doesn't matter how hard you try you can't help stupid
Hey American politicians blame yourself it’s not like you’re even trying to make life easier for us. Especially you gop and corporate dems.
100% why no tictok for meeee
all for people making choices like learning about other countries. Just like this country however you're not really helping yourself or the people of china by becoming a Chinastan.
Xi dont like winnie the pooh
In china you get your backpack and hnadbag scanned when you ride the underground. The govt will absolutely allways know where you are, because outside toilets there is no corner that is not on camera. I have yet to see news about public shootings in China or similar stuff...
Hey if you're a uyghur muslim you get to work for free. Might be why some produce is so dang cheap.
I disagree China is outpacing America and we are an Empire in decline. Please research from an economic standpoint. We are so so far in debt that we cannot keep this up and still be a competitive. China has a mix of capitalism and government ownership. The oligarchs have destroyed everything. Along with Reagan.
China is deep in an economic crisis right now, has enormous debt and is an oligarchy.
Glad to hear that banning Tik Tok and not X is doing the exact opposite of what was intended. This is what happens when you treat adults like children.
Bro, if people want to leave, let them leave, I don't get the problem and this video kinda feels like it's trying to dissuade people 🤔. It would be good for some Americans to get out there and actually see there's more to the world than just the US... 😏
And why do you suppose China wants people there? Could it be China wants to siphon off the best and brightest from America to set up businesses in China?
Passports are a good way to do that
I KNEW IT. When I started hearing all the praise over RedNote and our people finding out how "bad" we have it over here. Um, it isn't great over here, but I know living under communism is worse.
China imports a significant amount of agricultural products from the United States. They are actually not self sustaining when it comes to agriculture in support of their population’s needs.
Wow. Some GenZ are something special. If they had to live under the CCP, their tune would change quickly. All this deference for TikTok?
It's the CPC, not the CCP. That was an incorrect acronym that spread around decades ago, and because casual racism against the Chinese is so normalised, nobody bothered to check it, and people actually get hostile and defensive when you point out it is incorrect. Like how "Sun Tzu" is an incorrect transliteration of Sunzi from the 19th century that is still used because racism.
These Tik Tokers are hilarious.
I've lived in China. These people need to move to China. Not as a tourist, but for six months to a year. Very few of them will want to stay.
I don't think its so bad to have communication. The government invests in its' infrastructure. Maybe we need to do this..
Trying to become tiktok famous and make money off it is one of the dumbest things ever.
I hate TikTok, but as dumb as it is … you won’t starve if you’re decent at it.
"I'm a LITTLE buzzed" 😂
What the government should have done is regulate social media in general to prevent data collection they don’t want TikTok to do. But that would have upset some big donors, so they banned TikTok instead and pissed a bunch of people off, driving them further in the direction the government doesn’t want them to go.
media literacy and a solid foundation of understanding fallacies would do us some great now.
Finland teaches media literacy in grade school.
"Oh lord I've had to much tequila for this one."
The brainwashing was being administered on TikTok as well. Just more subtlety.
Start talking about Winney the Pooh on Red note.
@@MsAnpassad great petty argument you both had, any common ground found?
@PhillyDove Did I hurt your feelings? Poor thing. Maybe go to therapy after the shock of learning that USA aren't the best at much?
The law of unintended consequences is much like the iron law of prohibition.
The cure always makes the sickness worse
Is there no Europe-based social network?...
No, as a British person, I can tell you the Chinese are lying to you. Americans are free, and you don’t live in a corporation. The problem is that Americans don’t take advantage of the freedom democracy gives them- freedom to form political parties, freedom to stand in elections
All those kids in these clips should go and actually live in China for 2 years and then they can come back and say how great China is and how "free" the people there are.
9:52 FOXCON is a great employer. The workers get 6 hours off every day, no commute since they basically work from home. They put up safety nets around the building because too many employees were going to the roof to "clock out early"
They do have a larger selection of better cars at better prices than us. Electric vehicles, in particular.
They have free healthcare, no property tax, and their cars are much cheaper!
The Chinese character 紅 means "Communist Red party" in the 1950s, right?
Look up sewer oil videos and you'll never think of china the same
No attraction span, unwillingly to look deeper. Media has done a lot of damage.
How interesting that a commercial for Rednote popped up right when you brought up the topic of Rednote in your video.
They are all CORRECT! Bye, have fun with Winnie the Pooh as "president"! Don't come back
Social media seriously rots the brain.
I’m more concerned about US government accessing our private data than China.
Then you are an idiot.
The data thing is just an excuse. Our own companies are a way worse threat to American security than China ever will be.
Typical intelligence operative move. Try to shift back to an anti-American attitude.
Theres a guy named moon on youtube, and he does all kinds of videos spreading info and awareness on stuff like this. His video on tiktok scared tf outta me man. he covers how years ago it was talked about in congress how dangerous, and how they encouraged all members of the military to delete the app and to have any and all family members to do the same because it was a threat to national security. the meeting was like in 2018 or some shit. their data mining is considerably worse than FB or other apps, but eh whatever live and let live i guess.
I wouldn't hate TikTok if it wasn't all vertical video, every site is harvesting data
Ask em about Uighyrs.
Can we agree that authoritarianism is bad whether it comes from a socialist regime or a capitalist one?
As one with socialist leanings, I have problems with the PRC and their authoritarian policies, by the same token, the US’s slide towards fascism is troubling as well. But I’d rather go to Red Note to make my criticisms known than have my opinion censored on the low by Zuckerberg.
