The problem is the world's economy revolves heavily around the US Dollar due to it's role as the world's reserve currency and therefore the US has some obligations to be responsible. Unfortunately, the US isn't a responsible player and it is really hurting the economies of the world nations. Only solution is to change the world reserve currency to a nation that is more responsible and stable.

      8. **Domino's Pizza** - Another major pizza delivery chain operating in Canada.
      9. **Starbucks** - While primarily known for coffee, Starbucks also offers a range of fast food items and has a large number of locations in Canada.
      10. **Dunkin' Donuts** - Known for its donuts and coffee, though its presence in Canada has fluctuated over the years.
      11. **Tim Hortons** - Although now owned by Restaurant Brands International (a Canadian-American company), it was originally a Canadian brand and has a massive presence in Canada.
      12. **Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen** - Known for its fried chicken and biscuits, Popeyes has been expanding its presence in Canada.
      13. **Chipotle Mexican Grill** - Known for its burritos and bowls, Chipotle has several locations in Canada.
      14. **Five Guys** - A burger chain that has been growing in popularity in Canada.
      15. **Arby's** - Known for its roast beef sandwiches, Arby's has a number of locations in Canada.
These are just a few examples, and there are many more American-owned fast food chains operating in Canada. The exact number can fluctuate as new chains enter the market and others potentially exit.

I believe this train-wreck became inevitable as soon as the US lost control of its spending, around the beginning of the War on Terror. An unsustainable cycle was set up where interest-rates stayed very low and the US ran growing trade deficits that it paid for by printing money, which the exporting countries pumped back into US government debt despite the low returns simply because there was nothing safer to store their wealth in. It’s been clear that if any alternative to the US dollar is allowed to exist the USD would not be able to compete with it. Each successive president makes trading with the US less and less attractive, by imposing sanctions and tariffs, and they will ultimately rely on their military to prop the dollar up when economic coercion fails.

Love watching your videos Sean, you're super smart and on the ball! I'm in Canada. We've tried to actually move away from depending on the U.S. as our main trade partner (we have made other trade arrangements over the last few years) but our problem is a lot of our trade is in oil and although we've tried to build pipelines to the coast to make selling to other countries possible, environmental protests and also the requirement to have indigenous consent on some of the plans ended up with them falling through. However, I do think things may have to change now... people are going to see the dire situation our "friend" has put us in even though we give them huge discounts on our resources.... It's pretty disgraceful for the U.S. to behave this way I'd have to say. There is little to no goodwill towards our neighbour right now even if we do love and appreciate many individual Americans as friends, colleagues and family members.

My business has heavily relied on USA for much of its supplies, most of it I could have gotten cheaper from China but chose to use American sources. That ended today. Considering that I export a lot to the usa I will need to do something to keep prices down, the most obvious solution is changing my supply lines from USA to China.
Im not sure how many American jobs I just deleted today but I suppose that the consequence of starting a trade war.
What I really want to see my country do is build pipelines to our ports and start selling our oil to the rest of the world. Energy hungry nations like China might want some Canadian oil. Europe might want some Canadian oil as well.

As an Australian, I don’t think I’ve ever bought a US made product. So it’s a bit irrelevant to me. But, I’m currently not too concerned about our dollar dropping. That will drive domestic production, e.g mining , agriculture, perhaps even manufacturing. We have a trade deficit with the US and it’s not huge relatively. We also don’t have tariffs on the US. So far Trump hasn’t mentioned Australia for tariffs. Our biggest trade partner is China, (I’ve bought many things from China 👍), We just want to fly under the radar and work both sides. Honestly, we need to join BRICS but it’ll never happen.

As a Latin American that isn't Mexican but follows Mexican politics very closely, I personally think the Government of President Sheinbaum is not going to roll back their economic ties with China. More can be said about this but I'll stick to two points.
Firstly, since the AMLO administration, Mexico has been making strides to become a manufacturing hub for the Americas, and especially for Latin America. And, of course, breaking off trade with China would push that goal much farther into the future, if it would even be possible at that point.
Secondly, part of what led to the resounding victory of Sheinbaum and the Morena party (which has a super-majority in the government) was the promise of protecting and deepening Mexico's sovereignty. Again, this has been an important theme since the AMLO government. It's an understatement to say that such a decision -- choosing to give the US a veto over Mexico's trade relations (while simultaneously stifling their industrial potential) in order to appease Trump and maintain access to the US market -- would be deeply unpopular. The talk about possibly invading Mexico makes this particularly sensitive as well.
The prospect of losing so much revenue is a scary one for sure, so we will have to see, but I think President Sheinbaum's reaction to this will be to explain to people the danger of staying overly dependent on a single market for exports, and try to negotiate with the US where it's possible.

These tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China aren’t just punitive in nature like the one threatened against Colombia, these are structural. Trump is laying the groundwork for a trade settlement system using tariffs to balance out trade deficits as much as possible before its full implementation.
Rebalancing trade relationships will require time and will initially focus on major trading partners as we are currently witnessing. Addressing trade imbalances would be the first logical step prior to transitioning to a new trade settlement system. As implementing a settlement system while significant trade deficits exist could rapidly deplete reserves.
This also explains the current geopolitical and economic pressures the U.S. is exerting on Europe. The U.S. is pushing for increased purchases of American oil and gas by European countries, and Trump confirming earlier today that tariffs are coming to the European Union as well. This strategy places Europe in a position reminiscent of the WW2 era, where it was heavily reliant on U.S. goods and resources. Such dynamics could lead to a drain on European reserves, thereby enhancing U.S. economic leverage and reinforcing its global influence.
Add to this to the large abnormalities we are currently seeing in the Gold market with Gold flying out of London vaults and into the U.S. and it all starts to make sense.
Time will tell, but the pieces are coming together.

You have a everything bubble. Your housing market is worse than in 2008 and the Mag 7 companies got completely destroyed by China unveiling DeepSeek and line of functional robots. The world is going to ditch the US dollar as the worlds principal reserve currency for BRICS new currency.

Both Canada and Mexico need to find new markets. Being too heavily dependent on the singular US market will always leave you in a weakened state of vulnerability when it comes to weaponized US trade policies.

Leaders all over the world fear they will be assasinated or the war will come if they do not obey Washington. The odds of a leader being deposed, dying or war are almost 100% since 1950 or so. The US has created 202 wars since 1950s and even more leader removals. Aligning with honest larger countries like China and Russia is really the only current way of not being controlled by 3 letter agencies in Washington. When leaders do really stupid things you can be sure that leader was visited by the CIA or other enforcers.

It will be interesting how long these tarriffs and tarrifs on other countries stay on, before we see a GFC.

Hi Sean, greetings from Australia. President Trump is digging a big hole very fast to bury the entire USA economy 6 feet underground. Meanwhile, China and Russia are sitting back and watch "Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake." 🤣🤣
