I'm feeling all of the cozy blanket vibes right now folks! And place your bets or get your beverage of choice ready for a sip and watch! How many times will Tayler use the word 'cozy' in just over 30 minutes? 😉 ❤

I really enjoyed hearing your take on knitted afghans. One reason I started crocheting was to do afghans thinking that weren't that many knitted options available. I've since been schooled on such a silly idea lol. Really enjoy how you word your descriptions. You make each project sound so much fun. You even have me attempting the Emotional Support Chicken which has been quite a challenge to say the least lol. Thank you for your time and efforts on the work you do for your videos. I thoroughly enjoy them. 😊

Blankets are the primary things I knit. I learned to knit about 50 years ago, but didn’t make many projects, and then didn’t knit at all for decades. I picked it up again about 6 years ago, but consider myself still more or less a beginner and haven’t really challenged myself. I’ve knit over a dozen blankets, all as gift knits, and have just begun knitting garments. 2024 I’m hoping to learn more and take on a bit more complex projects

I have the Chromataphore pattern, and I can confirm that it is a very well written and detailed pattern. Her Papillon (Butterfly) shawl is incredibly popular, and so she created poncho and blanket versions of it. I've knit the poncho version called Aflutter which came in a bundle and is basically the same as Chromataphore but in fingering weight and with a hole in the center for your head. Once you get in the rhythm the short row sections make a lot of sense, but they're a lot of lines of pattern when written out. It can be intimidating, but if you just follow the pattern and use plenty of stitch markers it will make sense. There are over 4k projects for Papillon listed on Ravelry, which uses the same motif!

I'm knitting a shaw-type blanket right now so I can wrap it around my shoulders while I'm writing or possibly knitting another blanket. The yarn is so soft and fluffy and I just want it to be finished so I snuggle with it and drink a cup of tea.

Thanks for the suggestions! I started cheering when you mentioned the Fall Cuddler Throw. I've knitted that about 11 times to date. It's my go to for gift. I usually Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick or Caron Tea Cakes. It always ends up stunning! It takes me about 40 hours with tassels on top and botton. 10/10 highly recommend!

honestly the stornaway throw works well in just about any color. I'd made one for my house in a light tan, and than sized up another to go over my brother's bed in a bright teal, and they both look spectacular.

I love these! I cannot do tassels because my dogs will try to eat them! BUT, the good news is, most blanket patterns tolerate leaving the tassels off. Excellent ideas, and as a travel nurse, I’ve long thought I ought to have a travel blanket, too. Some of my temporary housing has only scratchy polyester throws - it works, but nothing personal, nothing texturally or cozily interesting. Like I need another project!

Great suggestions! When my kids were little I asked them to pick colors for blankets I would make for them and they would have their own favorite. I also asked my husband. To this day, many years later, most of them still have their blankets. You’ve inspired me to put out blankets that I made recently. I tend to keep them stored away. Merry Christmas to you and your family ❤️

I’ve been thinking a lot about the Campfire Blanket, because that is something I could start now for each of my sons, daughter, and son in law. There is a stripe randomizer somewhere on google, and you can tell it colors and quantities (I used it before, and just used the number of skeins for the count), and you can have it redo the randomizer until you see one that you like. It made a gorgeous crochet V stitch blanket! It has about 10 colors. With the Campfire I will add an I-cord border all of the way around, for stability of shape. And I like I-cord borders.

for the purl soho pattern, both DROPS and knitpicks have much more affordable alpaca bouclé options though you might have to hold double or triple to meet the gauge. genuinely considering making one, ive been bit by the bouclé bug this winter

Thank you so much! I’ll have to give a think on the blankets using more than a US13! Beyond that, they are really hard on the hands. I did one for my DIL with a US17…sort of made up the pattern and recommended that she put it in a duvet cover since I wasn’t every knitting that size again. I’ll be interested to look at some of the Super Bulky and see how they can be ‘downsized’. Thank you again!😊

I love Purl Soho patterns. I made their Library Blanket 3 years ago now. It took forever to plan out the colours because it had to be perfect, I'm a bit of a yarn snob so I wasn't going to use cheap yarn... Someone made a colour picker/planner for it which was so helpful. I'm still very much in love with it and am sitting under it right now!
One of the yarns I picked is also a 100% alpaca and while it is super super soft, it also pills like nothing else. I keep pulling off fuzzies and a lot of them end up on the floor until I vacuum again. I wonder if that Purl Soho bouclé yarn wouldn't have the same issue.

I really enjoyed making a Starflanket this year. I made it entirely out of leftover yarn so it cost me nothing. It surprised me at how quickly it got done. I sat on it for less than a month start to finish as I was keen to get to the next stage at each stage and next colour as my colours ran out. I've been enjoying the odd shape too so have added a Slipstravanganza blanket to my Ravelry Q which will be one of the first projects I start next year (if not earlier if my current works are finished earlier than I expect). I do not have enough leftovers in stash to make another full blanket, and am reluctant to spend too much for a blanket as well, but I'm sure I can get it done and have it looking good if I buy just one colour in enough length that will border all the remaining scrap colours I can put into it.
    Blankets are great stash busters.
The Starflanket started with the same shapes as the Hvammsvík Blanket uses, which has inspired me to want to knit one of those too. I will however have to think about yarn colours for that one and possibly wait till I've done a few more other projects that can refill my oddments box.

I made the Stornoway throw! I fell in love with it when I first found it. I love it! The blanket was not too hard to make. It took me a couple of months to complete it. The Corners Are a wrap and turn. When I casted on this pattern. I considered myself an intermediate beginner knitter, and it was not too bad. The cables are easier than they look (I had not done cables before). I Loved working on that blanket. I used the suggested yarn in the same color and I have also done the blanket in a smaller size. I think about casting on this blanket all the time.🥰

Blankets are one of my favorite things to knit. I've made seven so far, and I'm three skeins from finishing my eighth. I hope to start the ninth next month. I've never followed or created a pattern for them, though, though I may have to try out some of the ones you mentioned. Mine have all been garter stitch all the way though, though one was a patchwork of yarn scraps, and the rest were striped.

I'm already on the blanket train, working on two right now. One is the Coziest Memory by Kemper Wray, which is a FINGERING!!! weight blanket on 2.75 mm needles, meant to use up scraps. I'm breaking up the busy colors with plain white squares, and it should make a nice summer weight blanket for my bed in two or three years!
I was intimidated by brioche until Arne & Carlos made a tutorial and I realized how incredibly easy and fun it is to knit flat, especially for Continental knitters. Then I lost my mind and starting knitting a blanket in brioche with Alafosslopi on 8 mm needles, and finished it, and looked at it all summer folded up in the corner, and now I'm making it bigger so it will cover my whole bed. No pattern. Lots of fun.
Thanks for finding patterns for us. The one with the cables is like a dream, so beautiful. I wonder if I'm that ambitious!

Purl Soho often has yarn sales. So that fiddlehead yarn can be bought much cheaper if you're patient. I bought mine 25% off.

I gasped when I heard about the Orion blanket and its use of cellular automata! As a computer science nerd I've always loved the link between knitting and algorithms! I've always likened knitting pattern instructions to programming!

Have a wonderful Christmas! Love the coziness. I made a bunch of blankets for our vacation cabin, and I was very disappointed in the fabric. It was lion brand bulky yarn, and should have been knitted at a tighter gauge for a blanket-too stretchy at recommended gauge and that cut down on the coziness factor.

Thanks for the suggestions! Years ago I knit the Garter Squish blanket by Stephen West. I was a fairly new knitter and didn’t realize then that SW is a rock star in the knitting world. It’s a bulky weight blanket where you use two strands of worsted weight. I used multiple colors for one strand and a cream yarn for the continuous color. It’s super COZY (there’s that word again haha) and squishy, hence the name. It also has an i-cord border for a nice-looking edge. Oh, and it’s a free pattern on Ravelry.

Lovely cozy afghans! I knit the Gansey Afghan by Lena Skvagerson and enjoyed it immensely for it’s esthetic value and coziness. I have knit and crocheted $300 afghans and said I won’t do it again because all I could think was “I have to put this somewhere that the hubby won’t grab it or the animals will ruin it.” But that alpaca yarn!!! 😂😂😂

I'm working on the Incredible blanket by purl soho. Using Manos del Urugway yarns. So squishy and cozy.

I knit a blanket every winter. I will be curious to see if any of these will be ones I've knitted or need to knit in the future.

The Dustland by Stephen West and the Sweet Shop blanket by Laura Penrose are on my list. I have made the Reversible Afghan to Knit by Val Love three times - great pattern.

I've hesitated knitting a blanket but a small lap blanket could be doable. I've wanted to knit the tree of life blanket for years. I just love the look of it. Maybe I start that one in the new year?
Generally I think I'm more of a yarn over construction knitter though. Like color & feel are more important for me.

i wanted to knit a blanket for sooo long but yeah it doesn't seem as popular in the knitting community so i still havent. My current fav is probably old forge by stephen west. It is a round blanket so I am a little hesitant but at the same time the originality of it has it's appeal. And of course the design itself, it reminds me a bit of a sun, but i really like the dark blue with a light contrast colour.

Every loom knitter knows the classic 10 stitch blanket, where you start a back and forth of ten stitches, radiate out in a spiral, and join as you go. Be sure to check that out. There are variations of it available too!

Last year, I knitted 7 afghans with a matching 16" pillow cover. Need to finish the cotton pillow cover, sean the size of the pillow cover/sham. With a final of 4 buttons. The sad part is that the acrylic yarn pilled a bit in the knitting process. Think I have a favorite de-piller from your video.

Bonfire by TinCan Knits is a fast knit. Super bulky yarn, lap throw size, garter stitch with one simple cable panel so you aren't bored to death. I knit it in 8 days.
