    Loom Knitting Notes:
    Item is worked in flat panel to the left and right, not in the round. Use your basic or a favorite cast on, wrap or U knit stitch for odd rows and purl stitch for even rows. When you knit about 9" to 10", stop and measure the width of your knitting closer to the cast on edge. make a note of that number. knit until your work measures the same length as your width (you want to make it square). If you aren't sure if it really is that length (say it is too stretched or you knit tightly) then take work off the loom with some waste (extra yarn in contrasting color) yarn with a tapestry needle or use a stitch holder. Then measure your knitting length versus width. When you reach that number bind off (cast off) in basic bind off.
    Looms:
    Use a LG (Large Gauge) loom at 5/8" or 11/16" C2C spacing or your favorite loom for Super Bulky 6 weight yarn.
    Typical best looms are:
    5/8" Knifty Knitter Type 48 peg round looms (minimum 30 pegs)
    CinDWood 5/8" looms min 30 pegs
    3/4" Knifty Knitter type 36 peg or 31 peg loom
    Any KISS loom or other loom that will get you to the size needed.
    You can work with ANY gauge loom with appropriate yarn and just add stitches or take away stitches to get 12" width. Knit until it reaches 12" length. Use this video above to help with weaving in tails and connecting your squares.

    Super excited to try this! I always tried for making a HUGE blanket and I end up messing up and can't fix it. So excited to only make small squares at a time. Much easier!

    Love this! Someone else might have mentioned already that when sewing the squares you can use a stitch marker or scrap piece of yarn to temporarily hold the squares together; one at each end and one in the middle. It will help keep it even as you sew… just like pinning and basting with fabric.

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  4 года назад

      Hannah Sprague I’m so sorry I just saw your comment. If you are being consistent on your stitch count your work should even out when you stitch the squares together. You can also wet or steam block them to square them up afterward. The more you practice knitting the more consistent your knitting will become on tension and gauge

      Petra Ortega hi there! Like me you are probably just a tight Knitter; I was a bit tighter knitter like you when I started. Try going up to a size 15 OR don’t change and simply make another column of 10x10 squares. Since you are short on each square by 2” then across all four columns you’ll be short by 8”. So just add a column so your final blanket will be 50” wide. From top to bottom lay out your new column like the following: C (horizontal), B (vertical), A (horizontal), C (vertical), then at bottom B (horizontal). It is much like the 2nd column but the directions are reversed. On the ridges. I hope that helps!

    It’s a *great* idea to knit a blanket and send it to Australia. We are 5 days into 2020 and half of the country is burning down. Half a billion animals have tragically died, and blankets are being accepted for the animals that barely managed to escape but got sent to veterinary centres.

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  5 лет назад +1

      Yes I used circulars. The cable was actually too long for the project but really on a small project like this it doesn't matter. a 16"-24" length would work well. Thanks for asking! :-)

    wait, what do you do with the tail? Like the tail at the beginning? Also when you come to the end of attaching the two squares together, how to you finish? Do you just tie and knot and then weave the tail through?

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  3 года назад +1

      Minute 00:26:19 shows what to do with tails. Use for beginning or ending tails. After you come to the end of attaching you can weave in with the same technique. You don’t need to tie a knot. If you have a long enough tail to weave in then it should be secure enough when woven in well.

    Knitters; do you count the cast on as a row? 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m just lost. I’ve been trying to knit for sooo long and just keep coming up with questions

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  4 года назад +1

      Adam Paszti-Toth not generally. Most patterns will state a row or round 1. Also in some patterns will have a setup or foundation row/round. It really depends on the pattern maker how to word it.

    • @adampaszti-toth5023
      @adampaszti-toth5023 4 года назад

      GoodKnitKisses aw thanks for replying! I’m a bit thick, with this pattern, is the cast included in the rows?

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  4 года назад +2

      Adam Paszti-Toth no. The cast on is not included in the rows. Now if your pattern states to work until a measured length then you include the cast on in that measurement.

    What if I use 6mm needles?

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  5 лет назад +1

      You will need to cast on more stitches to get the squares the same size. You'll need to make at least a 4x4 swatch and count how many stitches per inch. Then estimate from there how many more you'll need.
      OR If you want to make with same cast on then you will need more squares to make your blanket. If that is the case you'll need likely one more column of C, B, A C, B plus across the bottom you'll need another row of C, A, B, C, followed by A to make up for the extra column. SO make at least 3 A's, 3 B's, and 4 more C's on top of the one's called for in the pattern.
