For anyone researching this task, I highly recommend just re-booting your original axles. I drove mine a dozen times or so after the boots split, but there was still grease inside and when I got the axles out and clean they looked absolutely brand new. Toyota sells complete kits with everything you need. Re-booting is the easy part compared to all the work to get the axles out. Just messy, that's it. OEM's are far superior to anything you'll find at your local parts counters. My OEM axles had 170k miles and looked brand new.
there has been a 5 months backOrder on OEM full boot kits, at least for the Gen1 tacoma... ordered in early October and arriving NOW in mid March... 500+ nationWide backorder is what the parts dealer told I.. it is totally FKN ridiculous to wait this damn long
Thanks, Kelly. Appreciate you showing different options for those of us without power tools. Always enjoy these, short and to the point, but enough detail to be able to follow and do it myself. Thanks!
Thanks, that the point in all my videos. I assume nobody has the use of a shop and doing in the home garage or driveway. Growing up me and my buds spent a lot of time in driveways wrenching, look back those were the good ole days.
very informative, thanks a lot! same as other tutorial videos it saves us money for those are a bit mechanically inclined because we aren't certified mechanics, just a bunch of people with enough tools to do the job! rock on Sir!
A trick I do (if the wheel is already off, and hub is spinning freely) is wedge a screw driver in between the vanes on the brake rotor. The screw driver will stop the hub from moving when it touches the brake caliper. Then you can loosen the axle nut.
Love the video. Having an issue with seating the axle. I assume it's the c clip. I was hesitant to beat on it with a mallet, didn't know if it'll mar the end or damage the bearings?
Keep pulling it out and reinserting it in different positions. Also be sure the c clips isnt damaged or knicked. Needs to be smooth. Its quite strong and would take a lot power to damage it with a rubber mallet. Feel free to hit it pretty good
I have a 3inch lift with 35s AND diff drop I would break cv axles every 3-4 months with the oem ones I bought these high angle cvs and they’ve held up great for over 50k miles of daily driving do some research on them many companies sell them I bought mine from oreileys
I snapped by drivers side cv axel so part is still in the diff. It completely sheared off. I can not get it out. I welded a bar on it and made a slife hammer to bang it out, but it will not come out. Is something locked in there?
Currently 285 75 17 Toyo At3's but i plan to take those off for 295 70 17 Toyo Mt's soon. I will put 4.88 gears and plan to run 35s eventually. I want to slighlty tub the front font clearance etc..
I just subscribed. Thanks for your video's. I have a 99 limited 4x4 with leaking boots. Where did you purchase the Complete assembly? Part # 43430-35030-84 (I did a search and some are saying they are backordered, others are saying discontinued)

It can be difficult to properly seat them and having the right tool to add the retaining clamp on the outside - did you struggle with that at all?

I love how you would also explain the “How To” for the peasants like us 😂who doesn’t have all the tools, lift, etc. Great work!!!

Just the snap ring or something similar to that. It just needs more force to pull it out of there because that’s the same way it goes in.
What’s the name of the brand ?
Great video! Thanks
Thank you for the video.
How often have you had to change your cv axles with your current lift and tires? Are you replacing with oem?
Cvj axles are a great alternative to OEM. Great prices too.
What's best way to clean CV joints before adding new grease if replacing boots and don't have a cleaning sink/tub?
Fantastic tutorial too!
Thats a tough one. Solvent tank is obviously the best way..maybe get a bucket and 1 gallon of solvent and make a smaller version to clean the ends.
Thank you sir!
What tire size you have and what gear you're going to choose for those tires ?

what size cotter pin do i order?
Man, how the heck did you manage to find OEM remans in stock.
Hey Kelly, see you switched out for different wheels, I was wondering if you are planning on letting go of the KMC's ?
Sorry, those sold very quickly. I did post them on my Instagram.
@@Beacon_Offroad Ah darn it ! I thought I followed you on there but i guess not, will do that now. It was worth the shoot tho !
