    The NBA went through the 3-pt revolution and overshot. Now that 3pt has led to much better spacing, it slowly corrects towards cutting basketball to find the open lanes. It is a normal cycle of overall improvement, we just witnessed the necessary experimentation period with bad basketball. In a few years we will be watching the next level of basketball with a lot of 3pt shooting that facilitates a ton of off-ball action for open-lane drives; it's gonna be beautiful!!

    • @gricius
      @gricius Месяц назад

      well, the 3pt shooting phase was because there were rules implemented to protect the shooters. You could literally not touch them at all. That's why James Harden was drawing these fouls so much in his MVP years. From what I know, the rules have been changed again to allow for a bit more contact against 3pt shooters

      @@acmuscravageur3627 Ataman had 3 perfect seasons with Efes (the first was interrupted due to covid), but choked in the 2022/23 season. Željko choked in 2021/22 and 2023/24 - the latter happened due to lateral strikes, such as sabotaging the agreed signing of Mirotić and the manager who convinced Madar to leave the club. It's the same snake that convinced Spanoulis to go to Oly behind Željko's back. But Željko should've won the EL in the 2022/23 season, when he was prevented due to the logistics of Madrid and the scandalous EL suspensions. Željko's score against Ataman in the previous 2 seasons is 3:1 and he should NEVER be underestimated. I will remind you that Željko was written off by many in 2005, and then he won 3 more Euroleagues in the next 6 years. Both he and Ataman are specific coaches where there's no middle ground - they either go all the way or choke and it takes time for the team to adopt ideas. Of course, it's easier when you have great players with big bbiq, but that's not a guarantee either, that's why sports are unpredictable.

      In which universe is Bartzokas the best European coach in the last 5 years? He won 0 Euroleagues in that period, and managed to lose Sloukas, who brought the Euroleague to the biggest rival. There's not enough time for practice in this format, everything comes down to the selection and scouting of players, good work and practice is not decisive anymore. Ataman is a good example. He was nowhere in the previous system, but Ataman knows a large pool of American players. It's a sad fact of European club basketball, EL is a league of veterans and American players.

    It is insane how tactically amateurish the NBA teams are. They are literally 30 years behind Europe. 12 year old Europeans play more mature than the NBA players. It is like no one in the NBA really understand that basketball is a team sport... It is insane that no NBA team has started to play like this until now considering what is at stake when it comes to money.
    But it is not just the NBA, looking at soccer and the MLS it is the same. The defence and overall movement of the players are like European junior teams. We also see this in hockey where the roaster superior teams of Canada and USA year after year struggle with objectively weaker teams like Sweden, Finland and Czechia in international championships because they seem to forget that they are competing in a team sport where the fluid movement of the team is at least 50% of the game. In all team sports, movement is the key to create space, moving just to create space for your team mates.
    I think its is about the mindset, the individualism in the US, it doesn't do well in team sports.

    That’s just one of the way Olympiacos generates so many easy points.
    Bartzokas is also masterfully implements stagger/Spain PnRs, that makes these empty side sets an even bigger headache.
    Additionally, he is not only a tactical magician, he is also incredible at maximizing and improving the talent on his roster, as well as identifying it.
    He is the best coach in Euroleague, and the reason they lost last season was that his roster was by far the worst of the final 4 teams, and that the opponent caught fire from 3 on an elimination game.

    Essentially the NBA is rediscovering basketball 🏀.... Before Bartzokas Giannakis was playing this and even before him Ioannides. And in the time of Ioannides NBA teams were doing this too, like Portland, Cavs, Hawks , Sonics even the Bulls. This is essentially what you have to do when you have a small forward that doesn't shoot threes. Dominique Wilkins made a career out of it by cutting into the basket being so fast and explosive that it was extremely difficult to guard him either off ball 🏀 or trying to stop him in the paint
