TL'DR - Napkin Math - 21-23% overall nerfs. Still going to be around above-average performance. Still somewhat OK.
I don't like how they made Lava Surge be able to proc every every 5-10 secs, sucks on ST. The rest are just number tunning.
EDIT #2 - It was 3% buff to Lighting Bolt , not 3% Nerf. Notes are wrong?
took out back and shot, just as expected like every other ptr when ele is doing very good... oh well
They nerfed Elemental mastery/remake ; they removed Primordial Surge/every 3 sec lava burst for 12 sec ......+ 10% chance :( to Lava Surge /removed
Lighting Bolt it's like chain lighting / it doesn't fly ( it's not projectile) and etc . ....
I swear good shaman builds never make it from beta to retail, every time
its because pally complain they are not in the top 5 dps so they nerf us so others dont complain as well lol
It's not dooming if it happens every f* beta!
The only fun time we get on Ele is on beta, we get put down in every expansion launch.

Btw Lightning Bolt was NOT nerfed. Blizzard had a typo in the Blue Post and fixed it soon after, but WoWhead has not updated it on their end. It was actually BUFFED by 3%. You can check the forums for yourself to see.

Doesn't make any difference anyway .. they should have buffed it by 15% at least and revert the stormbringer nerfs for ele....
Well good! A 3% buff to a spell that does 0.5% of my damage. Should be great :D

All along i've been saying to people that we don't need to be top of dmg meters, it's not about the tuning. It's about the fundamentals of the class. We wanted changes to our kit, our rotation, our gameplay loop etc. We wanted new visuals and removal of prim wave and we didn't want to be stuck spamming 1 button like lava burst to build with and 1 spender like earthquake. And time and time again people have just been focussed drooling over the numbers, ignoring the fact that nothing changed. Our rotation is still trash, and we're still stuck spamming LvB with 2010 visuals.
So good job. Cos now we've been nerfed and the numbers aren't there, we're back to being the worst spec in the game.
In the notes, some non fire spells/abilities got buffed and totem cd reduc is nice. Looks like they're making changes to push us away from lb spam and into weaving different elements.
We all knew it was coming unfortunately, just think people were hoping it wouldn't be so hard of a hit
As a pvper ele main, the thing I was hoping for the most was playing a lightning build in pvp. But with what's going on with stormbringer it seems it's not happening, at least for the first season.

People talking about mages are so ignorant. Fire and arcane are in the dumps right now lol.. frost is the only good spec and I mean out of 3 possible specs it makes sense one works at least.
They just repeat what their favorite streamer says. You're right. Arcane is half dead. Fire is literally more dead than dead. Frost is still going but it's just waiting for the sledgehammer to slam it to pieces. Frost doesn't excite anyone. After the death's chill nerf it's the same spec as DF.
@@Daimyo- okay so I'm not losing my mind. Because I'm reading these comments and these people are not up to date lol. Mages did get a LOT of buffs early on and changes, I agree with that, but they're not OP by any means right now
@@sketchyx8307fire is the best designed spec, the tuning is just awful. Beyond awful. So, after fire sucks for season 1 it'll probably be awesome for season 2. Looking forward to that.
I think the reason everyone thinks Mages are broken is simply because at least 10 known youtube WoW content creators kept hyping that Mage is the most fun+most powerful+most visual spec in all of TWW. Then Mage got crushed by nerfs but noone really made any videos of that, so the casuals are basically unaware.
24sec LMT could potentially bring back the Korean Ele build from season 4 Shadowlands. Primal Storm Ele, and Skybreaker's combined with Flash of Lightning gives a lot of CDR on Storm ele that let's you use it's tempest(eye of the storm) ability often. Being able to apply flame shocks with LMT more often frees up a lot of globals you would used to have to use to reapply flame shock manually with SoP. Potentially allowing you to take Aftershock too. Probably still play Farseer since the ancestors cast chain lightning when you EQ, but maybe but I'm not sure which hero talent would work better with this build.
That 961k number is pretty specific considering that the changes aren't live so you can't test them, and Ele currently doesn't have working sims.
We we're op and we knew it, so we knew that the nerf hammer was going to come eventually...
On the other side, some of the changes could be very useful with the stormbringer / hybrid talents because:
1. Less cd on magma totem making spreading fs more easily without surge of power (Also mentioning the high damage of this totem does).
2. The proc on tempest went from spending 400 maelstrom to 300. More tempests in general.
3. Flash of Lightning finally affects pw, meaning u can go with lightning builds and spamming a lot of pw, giving u more windows of (less than before) haste and more ancestors if u pick farseer.
4. Thunderstrike ward buff in stormbringer / hybrid farseer builds could be interesting, dunno.
I'm positive that blizz is trying to make hybrid builds functional to both hero talents. We'll see how it finally goes.
It’ll end up being like it usually is with Blizzard: they try to make everything work, but in the end, nothing works right.

But it's still very good, I don't see how this is a problem brother. It was super overpowered I don't see the fun in playing a class that's just overpowered and I'm an ele main for years so it means a lot coming from me.

No. It is big. They weren't OP they were just comparable to lock or mage for once. In testing they were not the top performer. They could have hit 5-10% nerfs instead and they would have been perfectly balanced. They would be better than 60 to 80% of specs. That is not an outlier. 25% is huge with how close dps has been lately. It was a ridiculous change.
There is no chance any Liquid or Echo raider validated that doc. No one in either of those guilds would provide any information like this. Not to say the info in that doc is more or less accurate, but claiming echo or liquid validated it is just false.
I know you said don't lose hope, but this is the big shit. I hope you're right with the compensation buffs, hopefully a 10-15% buff on Ele blast and LvB
Well, first time playing shaman, during this last week and ele is fun and strong, OP in some cases, even if we stay in the midle of the pack, I'll problably will main it, I've always like the class and the lore behind, and I think that ele need some love, been playing since bfa, with some come and back, and all expansions that ele looks good in beta, they manage to bring ele back to the ground, I realy hope that they keep an eye and keep tuning...

not everything was a nerf, so its not all doom and gloom yet, I feel like this is not bad at all, it will help with build diversity, because for now, atleast on pre patch, your force to play the lava burst build which I dont hate at all, but I wish the rework would have helped with build diversity, but it didn’t, so i feel like this is a step on the right direction
So is the chain lightning/lightning rod with stormbringer hero talents build any better now?

This is why I leveled a mage and a Paladin in Remix. Putting my Shaman main on the bench, took him off my faves in warbands too, don't even wanna see him. I feel like Charlie Brown with they move the football everytime
@@Meauxfeaux4972 yeah... I wont bench Shaman as I deceided to main it before all the buffs and nerfs kicked in and my Raid still wants me as an Ele but I guess for M+ I'll prefer going for Resto - even though Blizz will probably also nerf it before the release as it looks to be quite strong.

Did you ever think that there is gonna be something equal or better than Mage in all content or Warlock,DK,BM in raids? The game is 20 years old and it's always the same story. Doesn't matter what we enjoy or like playing everyone should roll Mage, Warlock and DK, nothing else and let that indie company wonder why is it happening.
My first logged character was Tauren Shaman and ever since i wished to play it in Elemental...but was forced to play atleast Restoration .....cuz i liked to play World of Warcraft !!! ...not Avatar (Alliance) Craft and trying to bring The War Within.....it will have huge impact on new"" WoW ....it will be the end of story
right now tuning is a clown show and so many specs are doing too much or too little. ele was one doing tooo much in too many situations, it should not be a surprise to anyone it was nerfed when it was doing . if warlock was really buffed by that much expect it to be brought down.
the spreadsheet you showed "validated by echo and liquid raiders" is probably bogus, i dont see how it can be accurrate when its not accounting for talent and rotational changes according to these buffs or nerfs going through especially when sims are still being run on specs.
ele was doing significantly above avg in all situations, i really do wish they provided more context into the changes so people understood the reasoning but they just dont seem to have time to do that.
Trust me they gonna buff it again or balance it up again either before OR after release im 100% sure about it

@@peettko as in we shouldn't trust the SS? - given some of the changes I'm not sure how accurate the new sims are, it looks like we might be getting prim wave twice as much as we currently are with the CD reduction, which if it also works with ancestors would turn it into a machine gun - we should wait for the changes to actually hit i have a feeling this might just be a slight number distribution change rather than a nerf

I mean, they definitely needed to be toned down a bit, they performed way too good compared to everyone else, but these nerfs might be a bit too much, as per usual with blizzard
They did this to every spec not just ele. Fire was good too. It's a dead spec now. More dead than ele, dps wise. It does literally no damage and living bomb is a bad joke.
