Loving your videos m8 I'm on the goldy and after 20yrs still yet to catch my nemesis the jack gahhhh... will keep trying now I've studied your stuff more .. thanks for all your info
I reckon the same Jacob, even though it’s been a while since I’ve hit it. I always think, why haven’t I been smashing it more once I’m out there hahah. Family life haha
Good to hear you got something from it Brooke. I was just watching your vid smashing a few fish off Fraser last week. I’ve gotta start fishing more offshore.
Love all you help mate I’m doing a lot better with your help bought your video and I’m running your sticker on the front of my kayak 👍I live on the Gold Coast opposite chevron island just near the bridge I’m alway fishing with my white boxer don’t be shy to hit my pontoon for jacks
Just came across this video and probably the best I've seen for this part of the state. Your casting is ridiculous. Just got back from a week at Airlie Beach and did well up there without catching a Jack. Definitely following you from now on. Cheers mate.
Hi mate bit unrelated but im looking for a electric motor for my tinny. Just wanted a transition mount one and was wondering on your opinion on what to go with. The tinny is about 4.5 metres and I think it would need at least 55lb thrust but not sure how to get the right shaft length. What do ya wreckon Thanks
Hi Christian. Yep a 55 would be a good start. If you’ve got a petty motor to take you to your spot then cruise round that’ll be sweet. Transom mount is sweet and I used to even switch the motor head round to face back and run it at the bow, steeering it with my foot on the tiller. Just a thought cause those bow mounts are crazy expensive. My suggestion would be minn kota and if you’re looking second hand on marketplace just give it a couple minutes of testing when u buy and should be ok. Esp. If it’s only been in the fresh. They’re pretty hardy I reckon.
You can cur the shafts down on the older models like I have for my kayaks. Generally the shafts are way too long. As long as the prop runs clear under your boat you’re good to go
Yeah ok thanks what are the older models called that you have got for your kyak with the really long shaft. And do they come with a footpedal for a bow mount transom motor
Sorry didn’t read the rest of your message. That’s sounds like a good idea. What are the models you recommend? And how to you know what the right shaft length will be because my boat is quite deep.
Hey mate. Get a measure from the bow to the waters surface add on the size of the prop plus 200mm clearance of water over the prop , then whatever extra the mount takes (maybe 200mm) as a guide. 54 inch is about standard I’ve seen
Cheers Mick. Really appreciate your following and feedback mate. Good to know it’s getting better. I’m trying to share a bit more above just reviews now so these longer formats are probably around to stay on my channel ;)
Bro I use Shimano curado 200 and raider rods. Marketplace for a reel and a $45 service from D$H repairs and you’ll be loving it. I see $150 curados all the time in there.
Another great video, its great to see your passion and excitement when catching those aggressive jacks and passing your knowledge and info onto us fishos, i really appreciate it as i would say we all do. Have you ever fished Lake Mulwala for the Murray cod on surface Lures ? Its an awesome experience, as i grew up on the Murray but have been Bris / sunny coast area for 25 years.Keep up the great videos John and your footage is great Cheers Muzza
Thanks Muzz. I haven’t chased Murray Cod a bunch but I know once I get a few on surface lures I’ll be trying to head out West a lot more and trekking down through some of that gorgeous country. I used to watch the videos on Lake Malwala Cod as a kid. Such a huge place to get after em
@@mylurebox Yep Mulwala is great we have a family home on the lake there and got 12 on shrimp and chicken over the xmas break just off the jetty all catch and release. I was thinking of fishing the cod classic in Nov this year (cod opening) and using those big swim baits and surface lures that seem to be catching alot of cod. Spinner baits working well too. Give Mulwala a thought john as i will be driving down with my top ender if your keen pretty sure its a weekend gig. cheers Muzza. accom will be free on the lake.
Great video John , I’ve been practicing and getting the hang of skip casting , thanks to your fantastic posts. What is the make of the gold fizzier lure you are using on the surface. Cheers, Dwayne.
Awesome video mate! What waterway are you fishing? Also what boat is that? Looking to get something small like that for going up rivers etc with my son. Keep up the great vids. Subbing now!
Gday Blake ;) thanks for your support. My tinny is a 3.7m Traveller by Quintrex. It’s fully carpet decked which is great for lure fishing. I mainly fish the rivers around the Goldy, NNSW and Sunny Coast. Around Bundy is also a favourite
@@mylurebox thanks for the info mate! Keep up the great work. Just been watching all your lure reviews and they are awesome. Super informative, no bullshit and great vids of the lures action.

such a good vid mate and jack sesh, yeeeew
Cheers mate. Memorable mornings for sure
That trolling motor looks good so what is it?
It’s a minn Kota I pilot 70lb cut down to be smaller so it doesn’t get in the road of casting
Great vid mate👍, system looks so good, nothing better than a surface jack shame you lost that big girl in the fallen tree
Mate I was so sure I was gonna get belted and even with that I had nothing. Hahaha
What was hanging on your neck and click the button like a remote...?
Yeah mate. It’s a remote for the front electric motor to steer the boat ;)
Yeeew Johnny Jacks for days.
Good times bro. Love a good session when they’re smashing the surface
Great video, I had a big smile on my face the whole time.
Good to hear mate :) that’s what it’s about
Hey mate, I'm just wondering where you get those fizzers because I buy similar one by Trollcraft but these look a little bit better quality
Hey mate. That’s cool to hear. These are made by Cotton Cordell. I have to send to the states for em
Thanks mate, legend
Nice video mate. I recon you should do a run through on your boat set up. Looks like mad little creek boat
I’ll do that for sure. Cheers for the tip
Love ya videos mate. Reckon you’ll ever come up the far north to make a vid chasing Barra, jacks ect?
Thanks Matt ;) it’s gotta happen at some stage mate. I’ll probably never leave once I see the place
mylurebox yeah it would be a good one to see mate! Can guarantee you won’t wanna leave haha
can you recommend a bait caster combo all rounder, without breaking the bank ($400)

Nice vid bloke where do you get the gold stick baits from .
Mate they’re tough to find. Rapala do a similar one. Otherwise I send to the States and hunt through google.
Awesome Video ... is this on the Sunshine Coast?
Cheers mate. I fish mostly on the Goldy. Sometime Sunny Coast and Wide bay

What length rod you using?
5’6 heavy action for the surface lure. A bit heavy for Topwater but great for the casting accuracy
hey mate where did you film this, its a great video
Great video John , I’ve been practicing and getting the hang of skip casting , thanks to your fantastic posts. What is the make of the gold fizzier lure you are using on the surface. Cheers, Dwayne.
Great video. can you show us how you rig ur plastic to skip please. What hooks and weights you use.
For sure mate. I’ll do a full video on it in the coming weeks. Thanks for the heads up
