    Hey mate really love your videos, I live in the uk and want to start skip casting for chub and perch on my local river. Just wanted your advice on skipping rods/reel. I’ve got a shimano scorpion dc101 teamed with a shimano zodias 166m (6’6”, 7-21g) , from watching your videos it looks like the rods your using have a softer action (load better) than the zodias, which feels quite stiff.
    What would be your advice for rod ?
    Thanks guy
    (My mum was from brisbane so some of these areas look quite familiar... I miss fishing over there, used to fly fish for Mac tuna in maloolaba )

    Can you tell me how i fish in a marina bay, I tried most ways possible and it doesn't seems to help , or maybe there aren't any fishes in there . I saw many juvenile fingermark and mangrove jacks at the edges of water , which are at the size of two fingers or less, and there's a lots of mullets , barracudas , estuary cods roaming around the areas too. There's one time i hook up a huge one with live shrimp , from the pulling force of it i assume it's somewhere between 3 ~ 5 kg , and it snap me off right at the oyster inhabited pillar, that's what keeps me going back to that place .

    • @mylurebox
      @mylurebox  5 лет назад

      Hey Mick, marinas can be really tricky because they’re often fish who see a lot of people and fisherman even. It’s usually super clear in em too which makes it a challenge. If you fish livies you can’t go wrong. Might be worth running some heavy fluorocarbon if ur not already. There’s some giants living in there no doubt, so it makes me nervous reading your post even thinking about wrestling a fish outa there. I would suggest super slow retrieve of big live mullet around the craziest cover you can find. Even big heavy baits can pull in a crowd of weary fish. Other than that, maybe some medium burnt retrieves with 4 inch paddle tails would be worth a shot right beside the boats and docks. ;) good luck mate

    • @mickl9567
      @mickl9567 5 лет назад

      @@mylurebox I'm fishing land based cause i don't own a boat so its sort of challenge for me, i had to be real stealthy n quiet all the time for not to spook them, I've been using 3.5 inch trigger x slop hopper and 4 inch zerek hot legs , I rarely use hard baits , they tends to get snagged a lot in these area , unless there are trevally around , they do come around for some occasion but not often . The water visibility is always at between 3 to 5ft , and the depth could go from 8 to as deep as 12ft , and the water temperature is 25 to 30 , rocky terrain with a lots of deep holes underneath where the coral & estuary cod inhabited, I was wondering why i hardly get any big ones lol . Anyways , thanks a lot really appreciated it , your videos are really awesome ... Amazing footage and inspirational, well done mate .

      @@mylurebox Hey , just wanted to tell you that it works ! But it was barracuda , multiple hits under one of the sneaky tree, it snaps me off right way cause i don't have wire leader . Thanks again mate, you're the best.

      mylurebox jacks are one thing but it’s that skip casting that blows the mind every time. I’ve had a crack a few times and seem to get one big skip close to me followed by two - three more then dead in the water. Practice makes perfect right 👌🏻
