I just grabbed an extra pair because I needed some other speakers and let me tell you - theses have come a longgg way since I've been a kid. The flatness is not what I was expecting - I'm extremely impressed with the new generation and this app just put the cherry on top. I use Yamaha's usually, I'm using these more now.
I have been searching for the pair of new monitors. Honestly KRK was on the bottom of the list. But with this price point it cannot be beaten. Amazing tools for analysis will help a lot.
Not sure how your setup is working, but something that might work which did for me is having a simple jack cable going to a 6.3 adapter into my microphone port of my audio interface tro then turn on direct monitor for this "microphone". Hope this might help Edit: just realized sound will be mono then, which has no use for the app
1. A Y-Splitter is literally $10 and can be found at any music/audio store. 2. Disconnecting a single input and and inserting another one in order to run this program takes all on 30 seconds-2 minutes depending how much shit you have piled around your desk. 3. Stop being so useless
FWIW, I ran my MacBook computer sound through my audio interface which controls my speakers. Once I was able to get sound from my computer through these monitors, I went to RUclips and pulled up a pink noise video and used it for my tests. Obviously no idea how close the two tests are, but I feel it's better than nothing. Since I'm not charging anyone for anything I'm doing in my home studio, I feel like I have a decent set up for the KRKs.
I really like the sound of these. They sound nothing like your previous versions which I didnt like at all. I wish these monitors had the most important thing, time alignment. I hope you guys add it one day.
Very helpful. Thank you very much. But can you please describe once exactly which cables are needed and where exactly they are connected? Directly to the speakers? As 3.4 Jack to 2x XLR. I have never seen such a cable :-(
@@notthefacefilms4822 yeah, I thought the same. But it's possible it needs to be played from the same source that's going to do the analysis. Still annoying how little they say about the need for cables in this video and others I've looked at. Most people don't have that kind of equipment around the house/studio.
It took me a while to find the right cable to calibrate but I ended up searching for the following cable and worked... "1.5m 3.5mm S-Jack to 2x XLR Male Audio Cable"
Not sure if anyone has asked this already but, Can you do an update for these processes for today's current phones? modern cell phones do not have headphone jacks...Thanks in advance.
Great app !!!. make sure that you are not connected to any Bluetooth device otherwise it will trigger a phone call disabling the app. Or just shut off the Bluetooth on your smart device.
I have looked online for USB C to a XLR 1/4 cable and I have yet to find one. The length after the Y is not long enough to reach both speakers. Can you add a link to a location to purchase please.
Great video mate, I have a question though. What if you have one of the speakers set against the corner of your bedroom, shouldn't you have different EQ presets for L and R speakers in this case? I don't see any one addressing this... I know Ideally you shouldn't set it up like this but I don't have a choice. Thanks in advance!
This was great. After using it for 1 day. Suddenly it start to make Al sorts of strange crack and pop's. I got so bad I could not use the delay tool no more. Because it made the same noises at the end of the run. And the sin sweep have the same problem. I have reinstalled the app 3 times. And it is the same. All was well. At first it was good, then it goes to useless. Like a curve drop. Hope this can be fixed.it is a very helpful tool.
I think the idea is great but if you have the money, go for Sonar Works... Cause eventhough it is agreat app, its still trusting your phones mic to do the measurements and determine whats "good" or "not good". And everyone knows phone microphones vary and are not the best overall.
Why isn't this app compatible with any of my devices? Keeps saying my version of Android is too new and I need an older version of Android in order to use it. How do I then calibrate my G4 monitors without the use of the app?
Just fyi folks, after a fair bit of messing around I finally found an apk of this that works fine on Android 11. Happy to share the file and the app you need to install it if anyone is interested.
When checking the polarity should I use a Y cable to both speakers? Or one cable at a time to each monitor? And since then... Should both speakers indicate a matching + or a matching -. Or only 2 + is accepted and nothing else? I cannot understand. This isn't explained and I am not an engineer. Finally... What happens if one speaker has the opposite polarity from the other? I haven't tested yet but how is that fixed? I mean I bought these monitors of yours and high quality and very expensive XLR to TRS cables with Neutrik connections. And the power cables directly to the wall. What else should I do to avoid reversed polarity and phase cancelation between the monitors? All I could do is being done. Your speakers doesn't have any switch to reverse manually polarity.... Thank you.
Where do you get the cable to connect 3.55mm to 6.35mm? I've tried several cables but the split section is too close to the monitors so it won't work. It would be great if the audio files could be played through a desktop app instead of having to search for a cable. Nice idea but poor execution from KRK.
