@@cowboy6993 I don't really like Wyver dedoction for this build, as It is meant for tanking dmg, but with wyvern decoction, the less dmg u tank, mode dmg u inflict. For me, It is quite contradictory

#QuenForPresident2016 No, seriously. Quen is the best sign, and should be praised for its glory. I can't even begin to count how many times Quen has saved my ass, due to how readily available it is and how reliable it is. Yrden is alright, but sometimes feels like a waste to set up if nothing walks into its radius, Axii is great for utility but isn't amazing in combat, Igni is ironically "cool" but not useful against shield-bearers or monsters with a resistance to fire, and Aard is also cool but I find myself using it the least, only to stagger an enemy when I need to like with the Shalemaar. The only time Quen isn't useful is during dialogue options, but Geralt's unlimited charisma easily handles those situations.
Elite Soul I admit, if you're specced for it then signs like Igni and Aard can become quite powerful on their own, but when I wrote that comment (and even now) I played with a mix of sword and signs, rather than purely signs, so Igni for me was not always the best use of my energy bar, but was useful against Water Hags, Leshens, those sorts of enemies, but I was almost always using Quen being that it was a near sure-fire way of absorbing the next hit, or restoring health with the alternate sign cast.
Know what's great, I've legitimately seen many builds that'll work well. Most games the community Finds the best build and you run that one unless you want to make everything hard on yourself. But this game seems so open as far as builds. You really can build different types of geralt. What a masterpiece.
This build saved my bacon! I made the mistake of using the Path of the Warrior glitch to get to Level 100 before I even started NG+ or the 2 DLC releases. B&W is making me crazy. EVERY enemy has a red ?? skull and 1-Hit kills me (sometimes i get lucky and it takes 2 hits) even on Just The Story mode. Needless to say, my right thumb was about to fall off dodging so damn much... THAT IS UNTIL NOW! The Bruxa at the top of the stairs (after Detlaff literally went batshit on Touissant) would 1-Hit me every time. I'd get her down to just a sliver of health left then WHOOSH. 1-Hit. Me cursing and flipping off the TV. Reloaded an earlier save. Followed this build to the letter. She was dead in less than a minute. Awesome man. Thanks for taking the time to test this out so extensively.

Apex of war, I'm speechless over your skills and overall knowledge of this game! My first RPG i've ever played and i'm now on my sixth playthrough. Two on ps4. One normal with dlcs and ng+. Four on xb1. One normal with dlcs and ng+. Both ng+ attempts started glitching near levels 73 to 77. So I bought GOTY and am now on level 98. This game is the most immersive and detailed game i've ever played. I'm addicted. Brilliant video. Thank you.
It...actually works! I thought I had OP builts having reached really high DPS but this! You can play it blindfolded! I gotta admit, it's the most impenetrable build I've ever seen. Doesn't have the highest DPS, even with Wyvern, rather than Succubus and Whirl doesn't hurt it at all. This is not even OP, it's invencibility mode, jees.
Again, I like the build. Just thought I'd engage in some discussion. I understand your intents better. I hope people see this video as this is a unique build, and, most importantly, uses the best-looking armor in the game! Definite thumbs up from me. Awesome, I appreciate intelligent conversation about the game. I may have overstepped claiming best build, but a build in which Geralt is impervious to enemy attacks is pretty darn good, especially if it is capable of decent DPS.

Made a few small changes to this to suit my looting needs and not wanting to kill succubus but this is still an epic build. Tested it against a enemy 26 levels higher than me and it couldn't get me past half health! (The enemy past the jade hunk in quality has its price) allowed me to unlock the merchant super early. Thank you so much!
I tried most other builds on RUclips and reddit and I have to say that initially this build didn’t work for me. I was getting quen broke on one hit and taking lots of damage from guards. The other builds worked at first but they don’t work against swarming guards that try to corner you. Once I found out the ‘trick’ to this build, it works beautifully. 4-6 hits before quen breaks and even then I BARELY take any damage even with no quen. Thanks for sharing the build, truly kicks ass! I don’t have a RUclips channel to host on but I was basically doing what you did in the video here. I must have merked 300 guards last night and came away COMPLETELY unscathed. EPIC!!
The point is to show that it's more powerful than you ever would need, and I still died using a very close copy of this in the B&W story so its not boringly powerful lol.
Olis Arinze it is pretty boring because it's all against NPC. this kind of leveling would be more useful if this was a pvp game. It otherwise is useless even on the hardest difficulty.

I think witcher 3 is best game ever but combat is not its strongest suit however mods that tone down these ridiculous builds like this one make this game perfect
on early new game, this combination build (gear set, skill perk, and decoction) it does work. even if you try it at new game+ around level 60-70-80. but when it starts goes above that, things it gets different with this soldier (if you test it on the monster it doesn't matter, they all gonna 1 hit) but since you not supposed to attack those black ones. they durability and attack power are damn annoying when you hit level 100 on new game+ you will be able to tank a few hits 4-6? depend on your combination of the gear set and perk skill as you can see the apex of war put some elementa resistance rune on his armor just to having fun, but I spend all quen sign rune on 9 slot armor. still, only a few hits that I can tank my point is if you try this build with level 100 on new game+ ?? you can't dance with those black ones. but all bandit and monster in lvl100 are nothing for you this type of gameplay does work with any gear sets, you only need gear set that has high resistance such as slashing, piercing resistance. well, you can tank! but the damage not so much. I tested undvik armor with this built, turns out pretty good. but the dmg proc of invigoration not that high ( i mean you can't start with high dmg as soon as you start combat, cuz with ursine armor it gives you a lot of adrenaline boost stat. but not with undvik armor) I tested tesham mutna armor sets also, it turns out pretty well too, the dmg output can keep up with an ursine set. cuz with tesham mutna vitality drain is good if you combine with ekkimara decoction. but since tesham mutna have low stats resistance compare to (undvik, and ursine armor), your quen sign will not give you any protection at all cuz of those arrows that coming at you ( that's why apex of war using deflect arrow enchantment ). but keep in mind that tesham mutna base total armor is pretty good. so it depends on your gameplay skill. ((I hope my English not confusing any of you, sorry))

I came here from his channel :) While his build is crazy fun and melts faces, I do have a problem with survivability in some fights, like the Dettlaff one. This build solves that.
I think severance is the best enchantment for any combat build, there is multiple method to keep your critical damage high in the game including just using the Hanged Man oil against most human enemies & other superior oils depending on other enemies you might face.......why waste that enchantment when you could use to have a double reach rend & 10% extra reach whirl??? Also considering you are focusing on keeping damage on you low why not enchant the quen with no cost enchnantment?
+Kul Zaze this build doesn't need Quen. I use it here so I don't stagger so much with a dozen plus guys hitting me. Severance is a peeference and think it's excellent in a build not designed to take damage. but I can get up close and personal with this build which allows me to use Invigoration instead.

The bread and butter of this build is the synergy between the life steal and the rune enhancement, damn all you hear is the woosh sound instead of the slashing sounds. Also, you can try to put the enhancement that makes all your gear considered a light armor and get the Cat school ability with the fast attacks tree. All you need to do is whirl and you're basically a meat grinder. Dmg is a little bit less compared to wearing the Grandmaster legendary feline set, but you make up for it with how tough you are with a minimum of 10k vitality and 1k armor. Great job man!
I've tested several other builds with ursine armour, and it turned out...This one is indeed the best. The reason being, the damage output, there are others that promote more survival but honestly, the bonus for grandmaster ursine seems enough, that and some potions and decoctions... There's no reason to add exploding shield or the other rubish, I've already tested it and all it does is makes the fight take fuckin ages, Geralt will sooner die of old age till he finishes slaughtering redainia of it's witch hunters.
I wish i was just lvl 1 with 0 hours played, so this way i could experience this awsome game for the 1st time again, on my 5th playthrough now. I never get tired of this world, i enjoy every stunning visual simply just wandering around for hours on end.
You mad genius. Just wanted to say that it’s 2022 and this build works beautifully, I’m cruising through NG+, killing monsters easily 30 levels above me, it’s really fun. Some high level humans and non humans can still end you if you’re not careful and the Ofieri mage can one shot you, so I bolted from that fight, but the Toad Prince had no chance, so overall, pretty damn good build.

I think u lessen your resistance to elemental damage in trousers by socketing them with 2 elemental dmg reduction glyphs, what I remembered is for example, Grandmaster Ursine trousers got 16% elemental damage resistance, when u socket them with 2 elemental resistance glyphs it becomes 3% elem resistance dmg (plus 6% from the glyphs) which is equivalent total of 9% compared to 16% elemental resistance
To those that want a better experience than facerolling enemies. Check out Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition on Nexus. True, you have to avoid some ability upgrades, since they overpower things like Strong attacks etc. But if you go for it, you can have abilities that have specific and situational uses, which means that you will actually have fun.
Throw the runeword that changes all your armor to light in your chest (and change out your strong attack tallents to fast ofc). You now have to worry about arrows a bit but can whirl all over the place with pretty much the same set-up.
I got a DPS silver sword of 21,056 yesterday, my best ever, usually just about 4,000 to 6,000. I drastically changed my build. I re-alocated all my points. My steel sword was 7534 DPS. You critical hit damage is much higher than mine; mine was 8632 for silver sword but I had 970% critical hit chance with silver sword. I am using Euphoria. I was using Grandmaster Griffin armour. I have Grandmaster Ursine but have not tried it yet with this build. Thing is I was using the steel sword. I was fighting about 30 bandits and 8 dogs in one of the Knight quests in blood and wine. So plenty of action to build up the stats. I'm level 83. My sign intensity got to 479%.
Since You only have decoction toxicity You dont need to have Aquired/Hightened Tolerances nor Metabolic Control equipped after You drink. Your HP won't go down. There's one problem, however - if You get hit by kikimore your HP will start to degen until you rest. You can combine it with Superior Tawny Owl at night - wait until tox reaches 0 and then drink decoctions. Dunno if it's a glitch or intentional, hopefully the latter :)

Hell, sometimes it seems like I'm the only "veteran" who doesn't use potions very frequently, hasn't used oils at all(except for the first ciri's story quest) and hasn't played a single round of gwent.

This is why The witcher 3 is the best game of all times. The ways you can go trough the game, man, you can replay it 10 times just for different build ups.
i run a mix of a tank build and a max dmg build. haven't played ng+ yet, but ng was a breeze and i have completed it 100% with every quest and every marker at lvl54. i'm sporting the hen gaidth steel sword which is scaled to my lvl (toussaint steel sword is superior if at same level) and the usual aerondight, both with severance as it's a gameplay preference. my chest piece is grandmaster ursine for adrenaline and superior protection, while the rest is grandmaster feline for attack power and the 3 piece set bonus. with the arachas decoction being more effective with lighter armor and equip load i'm running the levity runeword in my bear school chest and cat school techniques, as this is basically more of a fast attack build due to the feline bonus. i'm still running all the heavy attack skills with all red mutagens to maximize ap and i use a heavy attack as an opener yo activate the feline bonus before transitioning into a whirl. with 306 toxicity due to all formulae in the game i can run 4 decoctions and a thunderbolt potion at the same time. my build is a great mix of good survivability and ridiculous damage. i was able to easily survive dettlaff phase 2 air strike on death march and basically whirled through each phase in 2 seconds. the game is retardedly easy this way. i'm guessing going through ng+ i could cap most damage resistances at 100% due to the better stats of the legendary gear, so it would be even more trivial. protective coating's 25% dr + arachas decoction's 20% dr get you to 100% once you're over 55% in any category, at which point enemies can't do a thing but scratch your surface. stamina recovery with levity also let's you run quen 100% of the time, as the shield can take a beating at high dr.
First of all, your build is freakin' awesome. So this next is nothing against you...My gripe is with the game. Geralt is an enhanced human, able to take on monsters that normal men cannot. He's faster, stronger, and has superior endurance. Where the hell do they find all these soldiers that are "red skull" to him?
Guards are strongest.. every guards can 1hko.. We are not supposed to fight the guards, its against the lore. Geralt is not a GTA character who can do whatever he wants. He cant hit Civilians npcs too.
@@khibaybeh93 Oh I get why CDPR had to do it...there are just too many exploiters out there that would take advantage of NPCs otherwise. But if you think about it, why would witchers even had to have been created in the first place if there were so many badass normal men running about? The only advantage Geralt would have is specialized knowledge of how to defeat monsters and curses. In reality, it should be just a bunch of lesser men fighting Geralt, just an overwhelming number of them that keeping coming until Geralt is dead.

You can use enchanting to make all your armor light weight, and use cat school techniques. This will give you +100% crit. hit damage, with manticore gear you can make even higher tocixity point. With euphoria I got +240% with 5 decoctions. You might use any potion before the 5th decoction because toxicity won't allow you to use potion after 5th decoction. It is possible to use nilfgardian gauntlets for 50% crit damage, but those look ugly. I like Manticore for the appearance
He use the Enhanced Ursine Bear Armor for damage reduction. This build is not soley for the crit damage and DPS you see that he thakes almost no damage as well, the Bear Armor has the best damage reduction.
+dan Halo you might still use ursine armor, with cat school technique. reliever(if I'm not mistaken) decoction gives necessary defence bonus. Also stamina regenerates quickly, so you can use more quen sign. thunderbolt will give +35% power, so it will compensate strong attack bonus of from bear school techniques.
There are sets of armor that are better for damage resistance vs. humans , but against Monsters the Ursine is best. I would just keep two sets of armor in the inventory, and swap according to opponent. The Undvik and Tesham Mutna armor are both good options to consider as your human armor, and then the Ursine Mastercrafted for monsters. Just use the cat school technique and have runes for light armor effect cast on the armor and you get more critical damage bonus. Personally I really like the Manticore armor because of critical damage bonus. Upping critical damage and then doing a oil/potion build with whirl is a pretty beast combo for dealing with mobs. The reach of whirl allows hitting multiple enemies at once, and then with blizzard you are able to easily dance around mobs and strike down. With the right skill, I forget the name, but you can get critical damage bonus for every kill, so your damage keeps going up too. It's pretty good for mobs :)
Because the 4th Decoction depends on you situation , he was fighting multiple opponents so succubus Decoction was the best choice for that situation if your fighting a bunch of ghouls i'd go with black blood fighting one monster go for wayvrin Decoction.... if your in a cave you will need superior cat etc. - Those 3 Decoctions he mentioned are the must for this tanky build your welcome mate :D
Not sure if this is common knowledge or not, so sorry if everybody already knows this. There's a bug with the Euphoria mutation. When you exit combat for the first time, you lose the attack power and sign intensity bonuses granted by Euphoria. Your sword dps and sign intensity drop back down to your base. To fix it: 1. Mediate to clear all toxicity, then drink your decoctions again (this gets tedious very quickly) 2. If you're playing on PC, install this fix: www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1587/? 3. If you're playing on a console, there's a workaround: www.reddit.com/r/witcher/comments/4mbakq/psa_if_you_got_the_euphoria_mutagen_bug_heres_a/ I play on PC and installed the fix from nexus mods. So far, it's worked great except for one encounter. When I did the "Extreme Cosplay" side quest in Touissant, I lost my Euphoria bonuses as soon as combat began with the living statues. I had to fix number 1 above. But other than that one encounter the fix from nexus mods has been working great.
How do you think it would work with the Hen Gaidth armor? Its "vampiric" ability should synergize pretty well with Invigoration and the armor should provide better protection than Ursine, albeit at the cost of that spiffy Adrenaline bonuses.
I run the euphoria build with cat armor. I'm not super op but I'm not trying to be either because I'm already playing on death March and I fuck shit up pretty good. But it's still challenging. Once a game stops being a challenge I get bored. Like most people. I'm only level 46-47 though so my build isn't done.
It really shouldn’t be that hard if you know the strat for killing wraiths. Dodge it’s first attack, hit it twice, roll back to avoid other wraiths then use Igni to get all of them at once. Repeat this and it’s pretty easy.
Have you tried using the cat school technique instead of bear and adding the enchantment to your armour that makes all armor be treated as light instead of heavy? It might be worth the -20% health for the +100% crit damage since your going to be hitting crits so much while still getting the crazy absorption rates.

I just got this game and I am as lost as you have mastered it. =) Seriously, what is up with the immense amount of compenents and stuff, this game thinks I am smarter than I actually am. Watching this video is pretty awesome, if only I could ever get that good.
Yep works well. Similar to what I did last time. Only thing is even in New Game Plus I rarely ever get more than two extra slots filled out as I simply refuse to run about farming red mutagens..........they really need to fix that one so you can fill out the new mutagen tree without all that work farming. So I settle for the two I can get with normal game play. Bear gear, heavy attacks, run four decoctions, Ekidna, Ekimmara, Troll and Archgriffin and you have to play on at least hard difficulty to stay interested. I also put all Quen glyphs on my gear, that is a total of nine, and when you get the Grandmaster armor set, Quen outright kills many lower level enemies . Do not like the fur collar though, just like I do not like the hood on Cat gear. Could do without that fur collar. Having played the game many ways, Bear gear, alchemy is for sure the most powerful build in the game. You need no oils, nothing, you are simply so powerful just wade in and chop them down. Only problem in the game is the stupid cut scenes will take your decoctions away from you and leave you holding your butt............something else they need to fix. Sometimes you can meditate and get them back up, sometimes not. each time I play the game it acts differently. Last play through my decoctions stayed for the final battle , but took them away fighting that Bruxa when you are talking to the Duchess. No need to even try decoctions for the Battle of Kaer Morhen, they will be gone faster than you can get them, so best to use potions for that battle. Load up three of them all and you get three times to renew them. Other than those little problems, Bear gear and alchemy are so powerful I generally never even save, have no worry about dying. I get it. You're focusing a build around Invigoration, and protecting yourself against taking damage so you can keep Invigoration up via Quen. Yet, I think you sacrifice too much just to get that Quen refreshing. Ursine armor adds no offensive advantage other than safeguarding yourself to spam attacks constantly without thought of being hit, which you could also do by specifically focusing on more damage. You waste so much stamina on refreshing Quen when you could rip through all of them in an instant with the build you saw me craft (which it would be rude to link); not to mention that you're stamina regens so slow because you've focused everything around heavy armor/quen/invigoration. It's a very tanky and interesting build, but it's a very slow and weak build, comparatively. For the sake of 20% of having Quen refreshed, you're losing out on the following: roughly 200% critical damage and 8%+ critical hit chance, 20% more sword damage, and countless of amounts of damage by having more stamina regen and more stamina used towards offensive abilities instead of Quen upkeep. I do like the mutation choices somewhat, but I think the armor penetration choice of the Toussaint sword is so strange when you don't take a skill like Sunder Armor when you're using strong attacks; Sunder Armor is so much more valuable than armor penetration if you're using strong attacks, anyway. I would say this build is the best tank build I've seen, though, so props for that. However, I wouldn't say it's powerful. You could take a Rend build in the video I did with a Blizzard potion and severance (hitting multiple blocking enemies at once, negating armor) and have every one of these enemies dead very quickly without worrying about keeping Quen up and maximizing invigoration. Even a whirl variant could have all these enemies dead instantly. In Witcher 3, the more offensive the build, the better your defenses are.
I'd also add that pulling up your character stats mid-fight is arbitrary and misleading as your critical chance increases by 50% for each foe you've killed in that fight due to killing spree, and it stacks indefinitely, which inflates your sword dps to ridiculous levels. I've seen my sword dps up to 50,000 dps.
I show the progression of sword DPS before crit chance increases above 100% just so folks don't see an over inflated stats. It's about 12k DPS before the crit chance over inflates it. I don't need Quen in this build. You notice, without the shield up, they deal ~150 damage per hit. That's about a 99.9% damage reduction. You can't die in this build. The Quen shield is nice to have up so I don't have to worry about getting staggered and can use Succubus instead of Chort decoctions. And to touch on another comment, the best defense isn't a good offense. The best defense is 99%+ damage reduction. Sure you can dodge and roll. Anybody can. But what if you don't have to? That's my point.
+Apex of War Strangely the link does not work for me. Eventhough this is a "tank" build, I actually think that the Levity enchantment makes it even better. You are losing healt and damage on your strong attacks but the crit damage from cat school is insane. Also health does nit matter if you can take nearly infinite damage. Furthermore you could cut Hunter's Instinct (as it is still bugged) and add Tissue Transmutation if you need the HP.
im running almost the same build, but with toxic blades and im going for whirl and light hits. also i use the skill to get the benefits of the light armor while wearing heavy. the dlc steel sword at the end of hearts of stone is the way 2 go for me. i miss your frequent uploads apex!
sign builds are stronger, just need aard to max and you can knockdown everyone get armor and perks to increase sign intensity and adrenaline get the perk that lets you cast with full adrenaline bars. you don't need that much damage if you can just insta kill it on the ground, if you cant insta kill it on the ground then use igni and let it it burn out to death. this is a good build an all but its alot of work when signs are so much better.
I really like this new build and I will use it for ANOTHER new + run :D . Atm I'm having really much fun with your hybrid build because I still think that's the closes to a RP witcher :)
I think the hybrid build is the most fun. Crowd control with Igni or Aard and slice away. This build is fun for a little bit. But then it sets in...you can't die...there's no risk so the rewards feel less rewarding. But, if there's something that you just can't get past, this build will get you past it.
I'm useing this build, and I'mma tell you.. it works, you literally become immortal - stop what you're doing, and respec into this. Like.. Right now, quit everything and go to your game and do this. Now
Only two years late, but this is rad. Even though I'm a light armor guy by principle. Think ima deactivate my extra slots mod since you make making the actual builds look pretty fun.
I just used a sign build with Conductors of Magic, Igni does 1200~ damage, crowd controls everything it hits, and burning does about 1200/sec. Can drop a group of 20 humans in about 6 seconds while they are just flailing around doing absolutely nothing. That's my god mode. lol
Yea, but its totally not lore friendly build :) Geralt is an intoxicated frenzy warrior, not a mage. I can number on fingers of one hand times when Geralt used signs in the books.
this game is amazing i just hope if they do make a 4th one, and the movement is something a little more similar to assassins creed origins and the character bonuses can amp agility and speed
you see when you say the best build-up possible I tend to argue , you see you can only have this build after basically you finish the game and most of the blood and wine expansion where there is no longer use of it , I'm currently playing NG+ and still in the main story , where the mentioned build is not yet available due to the level difference , I think I'm at lvl.70 , any way the best build up for me is one you can start mid game and keep making it better through out the game and actually using it rather than attacking those poor soldiers whom families are going to miss dearly :P
If you focus on getting all places of power, you'll find this build opens up quicker than you think. Regardless, the tank aspect of the build is available at a much earlier level, all you'd be missing is some dps
I've got Aerondight, this is from my very first game with the DLC's, my character is 54 and my Aerondight like 49 or something, is there a way to improve the sword or I need to freakin do a NG+ do the quest again, and get all the blue prints for my armour again?
Holy shit! I just used it and it worked! I just defeated the Baron of Crows Perch men, after he left with his wife. I can’t stand those guys. The Sergent, especially...😒 The Baron should have left Geralt of Rivia in charge. That should have been an option. It damn sure would have been fun... I’m Level 80 on NG +. Death March Mode. Gonna have to tweak your build somewhat. Strong attacks are to slow. I prefer to use the fast ones. 💨
I donno how it works with DLC but main game poison + light attacks + DOT was OP. i was killing mobs 10 lvls higher then me ( fight was over 20 min) and once 11 lvl higher "wood relic" ( i think but donno english name). Build was so entartaining but ofc required lot of dodges cuz 1 hit from 10 lvl higher took like 70% hp. and same lvl mob took like 1/4 i think. I love that build.
I agree, sadly the author is working alongside the show runner but because he's a salty old man who cant grasp the idea that the games far exceeded his expectations he wants the show to be purely based of his books, he just chooses to ignore that without the games his books wouldn't nearly be as popular as they are today.

No, seriously. Quen is the best sign, and should be praised for its glory.
I can't even begin to count how many times Quen has saved my ass, due to how readily available it is and how reliable it is.
Yrden is alright, but sometimes feels like a waste to set up if nothing walks into its radius, Axii is great for utility but isn't amazing in combat, Igni is ironically "cool" but not useful against shield-bearers or monsters with a resistance to fire, and Aard is also cool but I find myself using it the least, only to stagger an enemy when I need to like with the Shalemaar. The only time Quen isn't useful is during dialogue options, but Geralt's unlimited charisma easily handles those situations.

Elite Soul I admit, if you're specced for it then signs like Igni and Aard can become quite powerful on their own, but when I wrote that comment (and even now) I played with a mix of sword and signs, rather than purely signs, so Igni for me was not always the best use of my energy bar, but was useful against Water Hags, Leshens, those sorts of enemies, but I was almost always using Quen being that it was a near sure-fire way of absorbing the next hit, or restoring health with the alternate sign cast.

Know what's great, I've legitimately seen many builds that'll work well. Most games the community Finds the best build and you run that one unless you want to make everything hard on yourself. But this game seems so open as far as builds. You really can build different types of geralt. What a masterpiece.
Nah I dont think this is true. I havent played an rpg where only 1 build is viable.
This build saved my bacon! I made the mistake of using the Path of the Warrior glitch to get to Level 100 before I even started NG+ or the 2 DLC releases. B&W is making me crazy. EVERY enemy has a red ?? skull and 1-Hit kills me (sometimes i get lucky and it takes 2 hits) even on Just The Story mode. Needless to say, my right thumb was about to fall off dodging so damn much... THAT IS UNTIL NOW!
The Bruxa at the top of the stairs (after Detlaff literally went batshit on Touissant) would 1-Hit me every time. I'd get her down to just a sliver of health left then WHOOSH. 1-Hit. Me cursing and flipping off the TV.
Reloaded an earlier save. Followed this build to the letter. She was dead in less than a minute. Awesome man. Thanks for taking the time to test this out so extensively.

Apex of war, I'm speechless over your skills and overall knowledge of this game! My first RPG i've ever played and i'm now on my sixth playthrough. Two on ps4. One normal with dlcs and ng+. Four on xb1. One normal with dlcs and ng+. Both ng+ attempts started glitching near levels 73 to 77. So I bought GOTY and am now on level 98. This game is the most immersive and detailed game i've ever played. I'm addicted. Brilliant video. Thank you.

It...actually works! I thought I had OP builts having reached really high DPS but this! You can play it blindfolded! I gotta admit, it's the most impenetrable build I've ever seen. Doesn't have the highest DPS, even with Wyvern, rather than Succubus and Whirl doesn't hurt it at all. This is not even OP, it's invencibility mode, jees.

Awesome, I appreciate intelligent conversation about the game. I may have overstepped claiming best build, but a build in which Geralt is impervious to enemy attacks is pretty darn good, especially if it is capable of decent DPS.

Made a few small changes to this to suit my looting needs and not wanting to kill succubus but this is still an epic build. Tested it against a enemy 26 levels higher than me and it couldn't get me past half health! (The enemy past the jade hunk in quality has its price) allowed me to unlock the merchant super early. Thank you so much!

I tried most other builds on RUclips and reddit and I have to say that initially this build didn’t work for me. I was getting quen broke on one hit and taking lots of damage from guards. The other builds worked at first but they don’t work against swarming guards that try to corner you. Once I found out the ‘trick’ to this build, it works beautifully. 4-6 hits before quen breaks and even then I BARELY take any damage even with no quen.

Olis Arinze it is pretty boring because it's all against NPC. this kind of leveling would be more useful if this was a pvp game. It otherwise is useless even on the hardest difficulty.
Well I have already beaten the game multiple times without mods or cheats. Sometimes it feels good to role play as a badass monster hunter.

I think witcher 3 is best game ever but combat is not its strongest suit however mods that tone down these ridiculous builds like this one make this game perfect
on early new game, this combination build (gear set, skill perk, and decoction) it does work. even if you try it at new game+ around level 60-70-80.
but when it starts goes above that, things it gets different with this soldier (if you test it on the monster it doesn't matter, they all gonna 1 hit) but since you not supposed to attack those black ones. they durability and attack power are damn annoying
when you hit level 100 on new game+ you will be able to tank a few hits 4-6? depend on your combination of the gear set and perk skill
as you can see the apex of war put some elementa resistance rune on his armor just to having fun, but I spend all quen sign rune on 9 slot armor. still, only a few hits that I can tank
my point is if you try this build with level 100 on new game+ ?? you can't dance with those black ones.
but all bandit and monster in lvl100 are nothing for you
this type of gameplay does work with any gear sets, you only need gear set that has high resistance such as slashing, piercing resistance. well, you can tank! but the damage not so much.
I tested undvik armor with this built, turns out pretty good. but the dmg proc of invigoration not that high ( i mean you can't start with high dmg as soon as you start combat, cuz with ursine armor it gives you a lot of adrenaline boost stat. but not with undvik armor)
I tested tesham mutna armor sets also, it turns out pretty well too, the dmg output can keep up with an ursine set. cuz with tesham mutna vitality drain is good if you combine with ekkimara decoction. but since tesham mutna have low stats resistance compare to (undvik, and ursine armor), your quen sign will not give you any protection at all cuz of those arrows that coming at you ( that's why apex of war using deflect arrow enchantment ). but keep in mind that tesham mutna base total armor is pretty good. so it depends on your gameplay skill.

While his build is crazy fun and melts faces, I do have a problem with survivability in some fights, like the Dettlaff one. This build solves that.
I think severance is the best enchantment for any combat build, there is multiple method to keep your critical damage high in the game including just using the Hanged Man oil against most human enemies & other superior oils depending on other enemies you might face.......why waste that enchantment when you could use to have a double reach rend & 10% extra reach whirl??? Also considering you are focusing on keeping damage on you low why not enchant the quen with no cost enchnantment?
+Kul Zaze this build doesn't need Quen. I use it here so I don't stagger so much with a dozen plus guys hitting me. Severance is a peeference and think it's excellent in a build not designed to take damage. but I can get up close and personal with this build which allows me to use Invigoration instead.

The bread and butter of this build is the synergy between the life steal and the rune enhancement, damn all you hear is the woosh sound instead of the slashing sounds. Also, you can try to put the enhancement that makes all your gear considered a light armor and get the Cat school ability with the fast attacks tree. All you need to do is whirl and you're basically a meat grinder. Dmg is a little bit less compared to wearing the Grandmaster legendary feline set, but you make up for it with how tough you are with a minimum of 10k vitality and 1k armor. Great job man!

I've tested several other builds with ursine armour, and it turned out...This one is indeed the best.
The reason being, the damage output, there are others that promote more survival but honestly, the bonus for grandmaster ursine seems enough, that and some potions and decoctions...
There's no reason to add exploding shield or the other rubish, I've already tested it and all it does is makes the fight take fuckin ages, Geralt will sooner die of old age till he finishes slaughtering redainia of it's witch hunters.
I wish i was just lvl 1 with 0 hours played, so this way i could experience this awsome game for the 1st time again, on my 5th playthrough now. I never get tired of this world, i enjoy every stunning visual simply just wandering around for hours on end.

You mad genius. Just wanted to say that it’s 2022 and this build works beautifully, I’m cruising through NG+, killing monsters easily 30 levels above me, it’s really fun. Some high level humans and non humans can still end you if you’re not careful and the Ofieri mage can one shot you, so I bolted from that fight, but the Toad Prince had no chance, so overall, pretty damn good build.
wow! some really passionate players out there. I finished the story with just swords and signs. Maybe it was on an easier level. I didnt even check the difficulty hehe.

Still have decent use of signs but on top of it I'm super tanky, loads of HP regen and awesome damage. Plus it's pretty fun to fight with my swords again. Thanks man

I think u lessen your resistance to elemental damage in trousers by socketing them with 2 elemental dmg reduction glyphs, what I remembered is for example, Grandmaster Ursine trousers got 16% elemental damage resistance, when u socket them with 2 elemental resistance glyphs it becomes 3% elem resistance dmg (plus 6% from the glyphs) which is equivalent total of 9% compared to 16% elemental resistance

To those that want a better experience than facerolling enemies. Check out Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition on Nexus. True, you have to avoid some ability upgrades, since they overpower things like Strong attacks etc. But if you go for it, you can have abilities that have specific and situational uses, which means that you will actually have fun.

Throw the runeword that changes all your armor to light in your chest (and change out your strong attack tallents to fast ofc). You now have to worry about arrows a bit but can whirl all over the place with pretty much the same set-up.

I got a DPS silver sword of 21,056 yesterday, my best ever, usually just about 4,000 to 6,000. I drastically changed my build. I re-alocated all my points. My steel sword was 7534 DPS.
You critical hit damage is much higher than mine; mine was 8632 for silver sword but I had 970% critical hit chance with silver sword.
I am using Euphoria. I was using Grandmaster Griffin armour. I have Grandmaster Ursine but have not tried it yet with this build.
Thing is I was using the steel sword. I was fighting about 30 bandits and 8 dogs in one of the Knight quests in blood and wine. So plenty of action to build up the stats. I'm level 83.
My sign intensity got to 479%.

Since You only have decoction toxicity You dont need to have Aquired/Hightened Tolerances nor Metabolic Control equipped after You drink. Your HP won't go down. There's one problem, however - if You get hit by kikimore your HP will start to degen until you rest.
You can combine it with Superior Tawny Owl at night - wait until tox reaches 0 and then drink decoctions.
Dunno if it's a glitch or intentional, hopefully the latter :)

i run a mix of a tank build and a max dmg build.
haven't played ng+ yet, but ng was a breeze and i have completed it 100% with every quest and every marker at lvl54.
i'm sporting the hen gaidth steel sword which is scaled to my lvl (toussaint steel sword is superior if at same level) and the usual aerondight, both with severance as it's a gameplay preference.
my chest piece is grandmaster ursine for adrenaline and superior protection, while the rest is grandmaster feline for attack power and the 3 piece set bonus. with the arachas decoction being more effective with lighter armor and equip load i'm running the levity runeword in my bear school chest and cat school techniques, as this is basically more of a fast attack build due to the feline bonus. i'm still running all the heavy attack skills with all red mutagens to maximize ap and i use a heavy attack as an opener yo activate the feline bonus before transitioning into a whirl. with 306 toxicity due to all formulae in the game i can run 4 decoctions and a thunderbolt potion at the same time. my build is a great mix of good survivability and ridiculous damage. i was able to easily survive dettlaff phase 2 air strike on death march and basically whirled through each phase in 2 seconds. the game is retardedly easy this way. i'm guessing going through ng+ i could cap most damage resistances at 100% due to the better stats of the legendary gear, so it would be even more trivial. protective coating's 25% dr + arachas decoction's 20% dr get you to 100% once you're over 55% in any category, at which point enemies can't do a thing but scratch your surface. stamina recovery with levity also let's you run quen 100% of the time, as the shield can take a beating at high dr.
First of all, your build is freakin' awesome. So this next is nothing against you...My gripe is with the game. Geralt is an enhanced human, able to take on monsters that normal men cannot. He's faster, stronger, and has superior endurance. Where the hell do they find all these soldiers that are "red skull" to him?
Guards are strongest.. every guards can 1hko..
We are not supposed to fight the guards, its against the lore.
Geralt is not a GTA character who can do whatever he wants.
He cant hit Civilians npcs too.
@@khibaybeh93 Oh I get why CDPR had to do it...there are just too many exploiters out there that would take advantage of NPCs otherwise. But if you think about it, why would witchers even had to have been created in the first place if there were so many badass normal men running about? The only advantage Geralt would have is specialized knowledge of how to defeat monsters and curses. In reality, it should be just a bunch of lesser men fighting Geralt, just an overwhelming number of them that keeping coming until Geralt is dead.

You can use enchanting to make all your armor light weight, and use cat school techniques. This will give you +100% crit. hit damage, with manticore gear you can make even higher tocixity point. With euphoria I got +240% with 5 decoctions. You might use any potion before the 5th decoction because toxicity won't allow you to use potion after 5th decoction. It is possible to use nilfgardian gauntlets for 50% crit damage, but those look ugly. I like Manticore for the appearance
He use the Enhanced Ursine Bear Armor for damage reduction. This build is not soley for the crit damage and DPS you see that he thakes almost no damage as well, the Bear Armor has the best damage reduction.
+dan Halo you might still use ursine armor, with cat school technique. reliever(if I'm not mistaken) decoction gives necessary defence bonus. Also stamina regenerates quickly, so you can use more quen sign. thunderbolt will give +35% power, so it will compensate strong attack bonus of from bear school techniques.
+dan Halo undvik has best resistance to humans and ursine for monsters

There are sets of armor that are better for damage resistance vs. humans , but against Monsters the Ursine is best. I would just keep two sets of armor in the inventory, and swap according to opponent. The Undvik and Tesham Mutna armor are both good options to consider as your human armor, and then the Ursine Mastercrafted for monsters. Just use the cat school technique and have runes for light armor effect cast on the armor and you get more critical damage bonus. Personally I really like the Manticore armor because of critical damage bonus. Upping critical damage and then doing a oil/potion build with whirl is a pretty beast combo for dealing with mobs. The reach of whirl allows hitting multiple enemies at once, and then with blizzard you are able to easily dance around mobs and strike down. With the right skill, I forget the name, but you can get critical damage bonus for every kill, so your damage keeps going up too. It's pretty good for mobs :)

Because the 4th Decoction depends on you situation , he was fighting multiple opponents so succubus Decoction was the best choice for that situation if your fighting a bunch of ghouls i'd go with black blood fighting one monster go for wayvrin Decoction.... if your in a cave you will need superior cat etc. - Those 3 Decoctions he mentioned are the must for this tanky build your welcome mate :D

Not sure if this is common knowledge or not, so sorry if everybody already knows this. There's a bug with the Euphoria mutation. When you exit combat for the first time, you lose the attack power and sign intensity bonuses granted by Euphoria. Your sword dps and sign intensity drop back down to your base. To fix it:
1. Mediate to clear all toxicity, then drink your decoctions again (this gets tedious very quickly)
2. If you're playing on PC, install this fix: www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1587/?

I play on PC and installed the fix from nexus mods. So far, it's worked great except for one encounter. When I did the "Extreme Cosplay" side quest in Touissant, I lost my Euphoria bonuses as soon as combat began with the living statues. I had to fix number 1 above. But other than that one encounter the fix from nexus mods has been working great.
How do you think it would work with the Hen Gaidth armor? Its "vampiric" ability should synergize pretty well with Invigoration and the armor should provide better protection than Ursine, albeit at the cost of that spiffy Adrenaline bonuses.
I run the euphoria build with cat armor. I'm not super op but I'm not trying to be either because I'm already playing on death March and I fuck shit up pretty good. But it's still challenging. Once a game stops being a challenge I get bored. Like most people. I'm only level 46-47 though so my build isn't done.

The only thing you personally need to work on with this build is not throwing up your Quen barrier when your ursine set triggered the reapplication.

It really shouldn’t be that hard if you know the strat for killing wraiths. Dodge it’s first attack, hit it twice, roll back to avoid other wraiths then use Igni to get all of them at once. Repeat this and it’s pretty easy.
Have you tried using the cat school technique instead of bear and adding the enchantment to your armour that makes all armor be treated as light instead of heavy? It might be worth the -20% health for the +100% crit damage since your going to be hitting crits so much while still getting the crazy absorption rates.

I just got this game and I am as lost as you have mastered it. =) Seriously, what is up with the immense amount of compenents and stuff, this game thinks I am smarter than I actually am. Watching this video is pretty awesome, if only I could ever get that good.

Yep works well. Similar to what I did last time. Only thing is even in New Game Plus I rarely ever get more than two extra slots filled out as I simply refuse to run about farming red mutagens..........they really need to fix that one so you can fill out the new mutagen tree without all that work farming. So I settle for the two I can get with normal game play.
Bear gear, heavy attacks, run four decoctions, Ekidna, Ekimmara, Troll and Archgriffin and you have to play on at least hard difficulty to stay interested.
I also put all Quen glyphs on my gear, that is a total of nine, and when you get the Grandmaster armor set, Quen outright kills many lower level enemies .
Do not like the fur collar though, just like I do not like the hood on Cat gear. Could do without that fur collar.
Having played the game many ways, Bear gear, alchemy is for sure the most powerful build in the game. You need no oils, nothing, you are simply so powerful just wade in and chop them down.
Only problem in the game is the stupid cut scenes will take your decoctions away from you and leave you holding your butt............something else they need to fix. Sometimes you can meditate and get them back up, sometimes not. each time I play the game it acts differently. Last play through my decoctions stayed for the final battle , but took them away fighting that Bruxa when you are talking to the Duchess. No need to even try decoctions for the Battle of Kaer Morhen, they will be gone faster than you can get them, so best to use potions for that battle. Load up three of them all and you get three times to renew them.
Other than those little problems, Bear gear and alchemy are so powerful I generally never even save, have no worry about dying.

I get it. You're focusing a build around Invigoration, and protecting yourself against taking damage so you can keep Invigoration up via Quen. Yet, I think you sacrifice too much just to get that Quen refreshing. Ursine armor adds no offensive advantage other than safeguarding yourself to spam attacks constantly without thought of being hit, which you could also do by specifically focusing on more damage. You waste so much stamina on refreshing Quen when you could rip through all of them in an instant with the build you saw me craft (which it would be rude to link); not to mention that you're stamina regens so slow because you've focused everything around heavy armor/quen/invigoration. It's a very tanky and interesting build, but it's a very slow and weak build, comparatively.
For the sake of 20% of having Quen refreshed, you're losing out on the following: roughly 200% critical damage and 8%+ critical hit chance, 20% more sword damage, and countless of amounts of damage by having more stamina regen and more stamina used towards offensive abilities instead of Quen upkeep. I do like the mutation choices somewhat, but I think the armor penetration choice of the Toussaint sword is so strange when you don't take a skill like Sunder Armor when you're using strong attacks; Sunder Armor is so much more valuable than armor penetration if you're using strong attacks, anyway.
I would say this build is the best tank build I've seen, though, so props for that. However, I wouldn't say it's powerful. You could take a Rend build in the video I did with a Blizzard potion and severance (hitting multiple blocking enemies at once, negating armor) and have every one of these enemies dead very quickly without worrying about keeping Quen up and maximizing invigoration. Even a whirl variant could have all these enemies dead instantly. In Witcher 3, the more offensive the build, the better your defenses are.
I'd also add that pulling up your character stats mid-fight is arbitrary and misleading as your critical chance increases by 50% for each foe you've killed in that fight due to killing spree, and it stacks indefinitely, which inflates your sword dps to ridiculous levels. I've seen my sword dps up to 50,000 dps.
I show the progression of sword DPS before crit chance increases above 100% just so folks don't see an over inflated stats. It's about 12k DPS before the crit chance over inflates it.
I don't need Quen in this build. You notice, without the shield up, they deal ~150 damage per hit. That's about a 99.9% damage reduction. You can't die in this build. The Quen shield is nice to have up so I don't have to worry about getting staggered and can use Succubus instead of Chort decoctions.
And to touch on another comment, the best defense isn't a good offense. The best defense is 99%+ damage reduction. Sure you can dodge and roll. Anybody can. But what if you don't have to? That's my point.

+Apex of War Strangely the link does not work for me. Eventhough this is a "tank" build, I actually think that the Levity enchantment makes it even better. You are losing healt and damage on your strong attacks but the crit damage from cat school is insane.
Also health does nit matter if you can take nearly infinite damage. Furthermore you could cut Hunter's Instinct (as it is still bugged) and add Tissue Transmutation if you need the HP.

im running almost the same build, but with toxic blades and im going for whirl and light hits.
also i use the skill to get the benefits of the light armor while wearing heavy.
the dlc steel sword at the end of hearts of stone is the way 2 go for me.

sign builds are stronger, just need aard to max and you can knockdown everyone get armor and perks to increase sign intensity and adrenaline get the perk that lets you cast with full adrenaline bars. you don't need that much damage if you can just insta kill it on the ground, if you cant insta kill it on the ground then use igni and let it it burn out to death. this is a good build an all but its alot of work when signs are so much better.
The two extra slots in the middle of the skill tree I am assuming they come from one of the dlc?

I think the hybrid build is the most fun. Crowd control with Igni or Aard and slice away. This build is fun for a little bit. But then it sets in...you can't die...there's no risk so the rewards feel less rewarding. But, if there's something that you just can't get past, this build will get you past it.

I just used a sign build with Conductors of Magic, Igni does 1200~ damage, crowd controls everything it hits, and burning does about 1200/sec. Can drop a group of 20 humans in about 6 seconds while they are just flailing around doing absolutely nothing. That's my god mode. lol
Yea, but its totally not lore friendly build :) Geralt is an intoxicated frenzy warrior, not a mage. I can number on fingers of one hand times when Geralt used signs in the books.

you see when you say the best build-up possible I tend to argue , you see you can only have this build after basically you finish the game and most of the blood and wine expansion where there is no longer use of it , I'm currently playing NG+ and still in the main story , where the mentioned build is not yet available due to the level difference , I think I'm at lvl.70 , any way the best build up for me is one you can start mid game and keep making it better through out the game and actually using it rather than attacking those poor soldiers whom families are going to miss dearly :P
If you focus on getting all places of power, you'll find this build opens up quicker than you think. Regardless, the tank aspect of the build is available at a much earlier level, all you'd be missing is some dps
I've got Aerondight, this is from my very first game with the DLC's, my character is 54 and my Aerondight like 49 or something, is there a way to improve the sword or I need to freakin do a NG+ do the quest again, and get all the blue prints for my armour again?
Aerondight levels up with you. I'm on new game+ and that is the only thing that hasn't been outclassed yet because it keeps leveling up with me.
You might not have the real sword. I looked a fake one from a chest before ever meeting the lady of the lake.

I donno how it works with DLC but main game poison + light attacks + DOT was OP. i was killing mobs 10 lvls higher then me ( fight was over 20 min) and once 11 lvl higher "wood relic" ( i think but donno english name). Build was so entartaining but ofc required lot of dodges cuz 1 hit from 10 lvl higher took like 70% hp. and same lvl mob took like 1/4 i think. I love that build.
