You can totally drive, especially in eastern Brazil (I would not recommend driving in the Norte states near the Amazon forest though, but the rest is pretty OK). Public transportation is usually like that: Bus for cities nearby one another and planes for cities in the other side of the state or states in other regions. You can actually take planes everywhere or nearby everywhere tourist interesting places. For longer trips I'd recommend divide the trip in regions and travel through each of these regions by car or bus and between these regions by plane.

Brazil is fairly safe outside of major metropolis like Sao Paulo or Rio. Crime is concentrated at the periphery of big cities. The countryside is usually peaceful. Roads are good to the South and bad going north. But you can fly everywhere. Transport is not an issue, unless you are going to jungle adventures.

    • @mattvideoeditor
      @mattvideoeditor 2 месяца назад +1

Even the places in the states in north near Amazon forest, you will find cities with good structure to host and make turism. Just had to interject 7min in. You are correct that Rio is possibly the city where most foreigners visit, followed by São Paulo and Salvador (in my opinion) I’m a South African gringo who has been to brazil quite a few times and always spend the longest time of my stay in Rio. (I also lived there for a year in 2018) “Tourist trap”, yes and no….yes coz many western foreigners who only visits Rio fail to experience the richness and beauty of every other state or city eg Florianapolis in the south, Curitiba, Recife, Búzios, Fortaleza etc That being said, it’s nothing like what’s meant in true sense of the phrase “tourist trap” such as Barcelona, New York, London, Rome or Venice for example. Most people you run into are locals, also known as Cariocas. The kind of tourists you do experience are usually from other parts of Brazil and neighbouring countries such as Argentina, Bolivia and Colombia (with the exception of carnival where there’s an influx of westerners) It’s true what they say in this video about the carnival difference but don’t write off one’s carnival experience in Rio either. Also keep in mind there’s the official carnival with floats and stuff seen in the arena and then there’sthe block parties that happens multiple times each day at different locations in the streets of Rio and it’s mostly locals that are present (more for single men looking to hook up with every second hot looking Brazilian). I personally prefer Rio outside of carnival - anytime of the year but especially Jan - Apr. If either of you boys never been, I highly recommend Rio and Salvador. If time is limited, spend all your time in Rio and try staying in Ipanema, Leblon or Arpoador…Copacabana is okay as well. If you don’t mind the language barrier and get by with google translate and the universal sign and body language, then go. If not, perhaps Brazil is not for you then.

There are numerous cities in the state of São Paulo that were founded by immigrants from different countries. Holambra, which was founded and colonized by Dutch immigrants. Paranapiacaba, which received English immigrants. Americana and Santa Bárbara d'Oeste, which received American immigrants. São Paulo (city), Bastos and Pereira Barreto, which received Japanese immigrants. I know it’s relatively easy to travel with bus from one city to another and in some cases, some of the most scenic train rides eg train ride leaving Curitiba to the coast. I personally always take a domestic flight from city to city (top notch airlines like Azul, GOL and LATAM airlines. Wrt getting around within cities, I’m always using Uber and these days when I’m in Rio, I find myself using the train a lot more than Uber coz it’s that convenient and safe. If you have time and enough money…your first trip should be 6-8 days in Salvador…live half in the old district called Pelourinho and the other half along the famous beach Porto da Barra. (Be sure to visit the two big islands as well as Praia do Forte…you’ll be able to do so with the various day tours on offer) Then spend the longest time in Rio (2-3 weeks) with 3 days in São Paulo before flying out. That will give you a good first time experience of Brazil. Then come back another time and do Iguazu falls etc if you feel you missed out on your first trip. Ps: I can’t stress enough that Rio is a lot more than what the media portrays. You could literally live there for a year and not get bored despite your interest.

There’s so much more that I’m yet to explore but I’d like to think that I know Rio pretty well. After all I lived there for a year. The trick is to go on plenty of dates and have some of the hottest Carioca woman introduce you to all the hotspots that most foreigners don’t usually get to experience. Also it’s important to make connections in general with the locals (both male and female). The other city I know fairly well is Salvador. I think my next challenge is getting to know São Paulo the way I know Rio (that city is massive)

About the countryside and travelling between states, i would say bus is the cheaper option just have in mind that Brazil is huge so you gonna pass a good time inside one , airplanes is common and can be cheap as well if you choose correctly. Im general roads are really good in the country (idn why people think it dont). If you come to my state i would recommend the good beach's and some really nice buffes that you can eat a lot. Our state dosent have so much to do but its a safe and good option. The country in general is safe if you choose the good places.

It's so big that when you are at the shore, it's like looking at a sea, you can't see the other side. We also have the Fortaleza of São José, one of the most well preserved portuguese fortresses in America, which are all things that we advertise a lot, so I was surprised he didn't find or didn't mention any of it

He kinda passed thru Rio Grande do Sul real fast, but there are some nice facts about here.
    1. We are literally more similar to Argentina and Uruguay both in climate as well as in culture than the rest of Brazil
    2. When we tried to secede one of the issues was slavery as well, making Rio Grande do Sul one of the first states to seek the abolition of slavery
    3. If we could make a parallel we have a lot of similarities with Texas, our flag still says “República Rio-grandense”, we have a lot of cattle ranches and we love our horses and rodeos
    4. It snows
    5. We make border with Argentina and Uruguay and at the “Praça Internacional” (International Square) you can be in two countries at once, there’s only a line on the ground to let you know which side is Brazil and which one is Uruguay

Actually, he really did ignore quite a bit. It’s not really possible to do better in a video without taking hours to talk about the culture and history of each state. Pernambuco, for example, is quite interesting. The State is called the "Lion of the North", while Recife (known today as both the Brazilian Venice and Florence of the Tropics, the latter sobriquet granted by the philosopher Albert Camus) was the capital of Dutch Brazil and was known then as Mauristadt, a name still widely used by local poets to refer to it. It has one of the largest Carnavals in the country and a friendly historical rivalry with Bahia going on for some good centuries. We currently have beef with them for two main reasons, even though the historical dispute dates back to when we were the two richest states in the country during the Colonial Era in the 17th century:
1.There is a dispute about whether Salvador or Recife's Carnaval is the better one, even if we all agree we are infinitely better than Rio's tourist trap.
2.They were granted administrative rights over a large part of our territory temporarily in 1820 (and kept it all to this day) after we tried to secede in 1817 (Pernambuco actually proclaimed itself one of the first republics in South America in 1824, in another attempt to give the portuguese the middle finger, even though the new Confederation was crushed with quite an active participation from Bahia against us. I'm quite sure we are the singular state with the most attempted secessions), and we are still bitter about it.

but in northeast and especially the north region roads are very bad and sometimes paved roads are inexistent, so a plane is more indicated
9:06 yes, unfortunatelly there is crime, a lot, but with some precautions you can go almost anywhere in the country without further problems
crimewise, road buses are pretty safe if you travel with a certified company, city buses are a bit more dangerous, there is a possibility to get robbed in them, but mostly in larger cities and is not something that "will" happen to you, but the better way to travel inside cities is with taxi or uber, not because of crime, is just because is better

Presenting the states in alphabetical order is the most incorrect and meaningless thing to do. The correct way would be to present them by region, in this way, the regional characteristics, which are common, would be better understood.
For example, if we do not include the northern region, we would talk about the states that make up the Amazon rainforest, which are sparsely populated and have little industrial development (but still have a lot of indigenous culture).
When we talk about the northeast region, we would talk about states with a drier climate, with beautiful beaches, among the most beautiful in the world, and Dutch colonization (in Pernambuco) and African colonization (in Bahia). The northeast is also one of the poorest regions in the country.
When we talk about the central-west region, we would talk about states where the Pantanal is located, a region very rich in vegetation and typical animals (I think it is the largest swamp in the world), and a region very rich in agribusiness, which produces a lot of agriculture and cattle. The central-west would be the great farm of Brazil.
When we talk about the southeast region, we would be talking about the richest and most developed states, the most densely populated and the most well-known worldwide. The southeast has the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, and together with Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, they have everything, agriculture, agribusiness, industries, and a wide variety of businesses. Only the state of São Paulo has a much stronger economy than Argentina.
When we talk about the south, we would be talking about states with a strong European influence, descendants of Germans, Dutch, French, Polish, etc. The south is where we find the whitest people in Brazil, with European influences, developed, with a very strong agriculture and a good level of industrialization as well.

That's it, why these prejudices with my Rio de Janeiro... the river has its problems, it does, but that's not what you think, just go with a guide who knows the river. I've lived in Rio for 27 years and I've never been robbed and here in Rio, drug dealers in the north and west zone prohibit robberies!! Crime in Bahia and the Northeast is among the first, Rio is not even in the top 20

This is one of the most ignorant videos I’ve seen of Brazil. Places that are hard to get to as if we didn’t have airports and roads, not knowing we have states (as far as I know, most countries are divided by states), and most of the places you said are the “locals” getaways are actually too expensive for locals due to international tourism. And we are all in America. We are not talking about the other side of the world. I appreciate the fact that you admit your ignorance, but it’s clear to me that you are after some Brazilian audience but have no interest whatsoever in who we are.
