    side note, lots of young boy characters in cartoons get voiced by women rather than actual young boys, because after a while of course, young boys will hit puberty and their voices will change. so that makes it harder to keep a character going long-term

    Its actually really common for women to voice young boys in animation because they can get their voices to the right pitch easier than most men and you dont have to worry about things like labor laws or voice changes like if you used an actual kid.

    • @strawberrysoulforever8336
      @strawberrysoulforever8336 3 года назад

      Hey Arnold was a very notable exception in both movies as well as the TV show. They kept replacing the boys as their voices broke. They only had adults for the movie a few years back because they got back most of the adults who played the girls when they were kid. They still sounded right. Most of the boys were replaced, though. In the show, there was one kid where his voice was changed in post-production after it broke because they kept auditioning people and they couldn't find anyone else right. And they replaced the lead three times during the show - some characters even had five voice actors!

    As I said before, a reaction to the show's golden age would also be good. It's a shame you don't want to. But if you like the movie, I'd give some of the 90s episodes a try. They're better than the movie.
    Even if you don't react to it, do give the show a watch. Season 4 is my advice, because it is packed with as many jokes as the movie. Try episodes like Marge Vs the Monorail, I Love Lisa, Treehouse of Horror III, and for more of Maggie, A Streetcar Named Marge. Season 6 is also good - one episode that really sums up where the show was then is Two Dozen and One Greyhounds, a funny 101 Dalmatians parody. Those are the two best seasons, although Season 5 probably has higher highs - it's just important to get the right episodes. However, I think one of the funniest there is The Last Temptation of Homer. People still bring up the Joey Jojo Jr Shabadoo line on Reddit, but I won't spoil the context here.

    "Homer caused it all! This is going to go badly because of him!!" - basically the premise of 35 years of the show...

    Oh, btw, here's a few fun facts i learned from the commentary: For a long, long time, they were going to have Marge do the rant at the start and be visited by the "things are going to happen" bit. They changed it to Grandpa late into the project because having Marge do it made the whole tone of the film a bit too dark. Test audiences were wondering if she'd do that again and Marge is the heart of the show, so it was a lot lighter when a character who was prone to having moments of dementia anyway was the one who got the visitation.
    Another point they made was that they have a lot of crowd shots in the movie, but unlike in the show where there's a bunch of unknowns, almost everyone is recognizable as an established Springfieldian.
    Also, about Green Day. The commentary said they would never return the calls from the show, but when The Simpsons finally got ahold of them, they were apparently the nicest guys. But they still had trouble returning calls after the first time the showrunners managed to contact them.
    Finally, they had a lot of different choices over the kind of boy Lisa would like. For a long time, they had Milhouse in there. The reason they scrapped that and had Colin instead was because they found out through test audiences that their fans weren't as familiar with Milhouse's long-standing crush on Lisa as they thought.

    Moral of The Simpsons Movie:
    Sure they made the lake idiot proof, yet they didn't make it Homer proof, the most out-landish and extreme idiot of them all!

    I still believe that this should've been the finale of Simpsons, cause after this, it never recovered.

      I heard this movie was suppose to be the finale, but Fox's constant season renewals and ratings prevented this from being a finale.
