Hey everyone! Make sure you watch the intro to this video for a big announcement! Thanks for watching and I’ll see you on Friday for monsters university!
Interesting Fact: the VA for Boo is actually the directors daughter and because they couldn’t get her to stay still in the booth, they actually followed her around the studio with recording equipment.
Rewatching sully’s goodbye to boo hits a lot harder as an adult because it’s basically a dad saying goodbye to his daughter knowing that they’ll never see each other again 🥺
I can relate to that a little, I dated someone for a few years and I got to spend a lot of time with her daughter who was about a year old when we started dating. After we broke up, telling her goodbye tore my heart out after getting to spend so many years and making so many memories with her
Mike is one of the most underrated sidekicks. He was given no choice about being involved in Sully’s troubles but he still stayed beside him and Boo through it all and did everything in his power to help them.
Mike: 🎵 PUT THAT THING BACK WHERE IT CAME FROM OR SO HELP ME 🎵 Sulley: 🎵 BOM-BOM, BOM-BOM, BOM-BOM... 🎵 Mike: 🎵 SO HELP ME, SO HELP ME. 🎵 AND CUT! 😅😅😅😅😅
There's more to the song(Note: This is at least what I heard): Put that kid back where it came from or so help me (So help me) Goodbye Put that kid back where it came from or so help me (So help me) I just wanna cry There's a child, there's a child There's a human child Running around the restaurant This is really wild This little thing will become a bust For us living here in Monstropolis She's out of our hair And just when I dare to care She says, "Oh contraire You're my pair Of friends. I love you" So they put that kid back where they came from And she helped us create A better tomorrow TODAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!
Though considering that 9/11 occurred 60 days before the movie came to theaters, it would make sense for kids to not fear monsters as much because the human world is scarier now.
It couldn't have been that long since Boo still sounded the same and recognized Sully. I feel like if it was several years, she might not have remembered him. I feel like it had to have been a few months at most.
Because it was really tough to keep a child still in a recording booth, the voice directors just followed Boo’s voice actor around the recording studio with a mic, throwing in whatever speech felt appropriate for the scene. Some of these voice clips were reused in Inside Out for toddler Riley
Waternoose: It's MY word against yours! Mike: Actually… *I'll kidnap a thousand children before I let this company die!* … it's your word against yours! Waternoose: Huh? Mike & Sulley: It's called a hustle, sweetheart. Boom! 😅😅😅😅
Someone wrote a short story to follow this about a little girl running to her mom about a scary monster, shows her a picture she drew and the camera pans up to an adult Boo and you'd see a tear and she just says kitty, and in comes a very elderly Sully
You know I never realized that the snow cones were yellow and after Mike had thrown them all the Abominable Snowman left to go outside and make "more" yikes...lmao
There were loads of abandoned early storylines for Monsters Inc. In one, Boo was going to be a 10-yo. whose brothers were always playing practical jokes on her, and when she finds her way into Monster World, she thinks it's their best "joke" yet, and tries to pull the "costume" off of Sully.
Fun fact: After the release of this film, It had a prequel called Monsters University released 11 years later, taking place before the events of this film. However, there was originally supposed to be a sequel called, "Monsters Inc, 2: Lost in Scaradise", taking place a year after this film. It was going to be about Mike and Sulley surprising Boo at her birthday, however she's not there and they realize she's has most likely moved somewhere, so they decide to travel to the open human world to go find her. The film was cancelled after Disney-owned sequel rights were moved to Pixar.
Furthermore with the sequel lost in Scaradise, Boo was also supposed to appear as an adult but she doesn’t remember Mike or Sully because kids lose belief of monsters when they grow up and she also finds them completely not funny and the only way they can get back home is by getting her to laugh
What is fun about the voice of Roz, is that it is Bob Peterson, who was the head of story for this movie/story supervisor. So when they would go through the storyboards and he would be reading it, he would be giving Roz her voice right then and there.
If you haven't already seen them, I highly recommend Coraline, Paranorman and Monster House! They're pretty much horror movies but for children (Coraline is especially creepy) Also Megamind, which is an amazing yet underrated Dreamworks movie!
If you think about it, Mike is a really good friend. He harms himself just to help Sully, he put all of his time to repair the door so Sully and Boo can meet again.
My two favorite parts in Monsters Inc are the scene where Boo overcomes her fear of Randall and beats him up. And the ending where Sully and Boo reunite
@@Fanproductions I do have a theory that Boo is Violet's daughter(The Incredibles). The scene where Sullivan was playing Hide and seek with her in the bathroom, I think she turned invisible.

@@TOMNICE The prequel is Monsters University that came out in 2013. Monsters At Work is gonna be a direct sequel tv series coming to Disney + on July 2nd
@DoraeArtDreams-Aspy I'm secretly hoping around the end of the series they address when Sora, Donald and Goofy from Kingdom Hearts 3 came to visit, since its roughly around the same timeframe. Pixar have gone on record during the ad campaign for KH3 saying that their levels are officially canon for both Toy Story (takes place between 2 and 3) and Monsters Inc.
