Captocorn Peak/Night ~ Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Cover

It may be my least favorite snow area in the Xenoblade series but that doesn't mean its music is anything short of spectacular.
I recently dislocated my pinky finger and while nothing is broken thankfully, I do need to let it rest more than usual, so I decided to take the injury as an opportunity to work on this simple cover of Captocorn Peak/Night that I'd wanted to for awhile. All of Xenoblade Chronicles 3's area themes are beautiful. Some are grand orchestrations scored by every instrument one could think of and others are relaxed pieces with little more than a standard rhythm section to drive them forward. Then there are tracks like this one and Alfeto Valley/Night which don't even have much of a rhythm section at all, carried only by a piano, some strings, and very sparingly-placed synths/other sound effects.
I decided to strip this song of practically all of its synths and non-essential sounds. I thought it would be cool to see how much emotion and weight I could pull from just the piano part and the song's melody and harmonies. I decided to record those parts using just my flute. I'm happy with the result, though playing multiple third octave flute lines in close harmony with each other proved to be quite a challenge in regards to intonation. I had a lot of fun working on a pretty stripped back cover, both in regards to arrangement and instrumentation, for once.
I actually have four Xeno-series arrangements currently well into production right now, including one from the recently remastered Xenoblade Chronicles X, so if you're a Xenoblade fan, there's much to look forward to!

This sounds so good man. Almost nobody makes as calm music as you do. The melancholic piano, together with the flute made up for a really good piece, even with the stripping of the other instruments in the original. Hope you recover from your injury and congrats on finishing this one still. Well done!
