I reached out to Sigma South Africa to hear if they had an FP demo model. I’ve purchased the Sigma 20mm 1.4, the 85mm 1.4 and the 14-24 2.8 for the s5 Lmount s5 said they didn’t have one. About a month ago I decided that I will purchase the FP regardless of the fact that I haven’t tested it. Sigma just bluntly said that they will not bring this camera into the country. Will probably get rid of some Sigma stuff and go for the BlackMagic instead. What a pity though
The contemporary i-series lenses with aperture ring look awesome, well designed and well built. Will look good on the NIkon Z F. The L mount alliance is defining itself. Sigma is a camera maker as well. Sigma could focus on APSC and FF rangefinder style of cameras (like the A7c, Lumix GX9, GX85, Leuica CL but with grip). Hope the next "fp for photographers" will be revisited, EFV, IBIS, Tilting Screen,... For videographer the design looks ok since the camera will be rigged and other components added. But for photographers, it looks complicated (external evf to add). The L mount Alliance has so much to share between members.
1:23 FP models really need a smart-hot-shoe! Having the smallest camera yet requiring a chunky module on the side just for evf is kind if defeating the claim of the smallest cinema camera😢
HF ART ACADEMY -Sigma is leading in landcape capturing due to new lens architecture within the best Mirror less camera and Lens architecture at most sophisticated level ever
I’m very tempted by the FPL. Both for its high quality and compact design. What compact zoom lens would you recommend? I know there is a quality compromise with a compact lens, I figure I’ll use a prime lens when quality is most important. What prime lens would you recommend for photographing my paintings? Some are as large as 40x60 inches.
You want to do art reproduction? Get something like the Panasonic S1R. That'll give you 200MP when used in the high resolution mode. Mount a normal or mild tele prime; a macro lens would do nicely. That'll give you enough resolution to actually print back out at 60x40 without loss of detail. If you're truly serious about this, look into scanning backs for 4x5 (large format) technical cameras.
Weather sealing? Dust? Operation in extreme heat or cold? Battery life? Dependency on tripods for everything (also given the 61MP resolution)? IBIS? What can be done hand-held? I get the sales pitch here. But I think there's still a lot missing to sell a cinema camera brain as a landscape photography camera.
Thank you for your message! This video was a quick look at the SIGMA fp L for Landscapes. Full details can be found on the SIGMA Global website! www.sigma-global.com/en/special/fp-series/ Sigma UK
@@sigmauk Thanks for the response. I'll be waiting for Sigma's next Foveon based camera for landscape and architecture work. Very excited about that! Until then, I'll enjoy my DP2 Merrill.
I would have purchased an FP immediately ... if it wasn't for the lack of an anti-dust cleaning system for the sensor. It's quite bizarre that Sigma is the only manufacturer not offering this.
See FP are for people who want an ultimate compact camera, no matter the sacrifices, even if they do have anti dust cleaning system, you might just keep on complain about lack of stabilisation and other things
Can you advise if traditional holder filters can be used with the native lenses for the FP or FP-L, I currently use Nisi V6 with my Sigma crop sensor lens
Does the low ISO feature only work when using a tripod? As I understand it, the camera takes several shots to achieve the low ISO ... it certainly is one of the least mentioned unique features of the camera!
Reason 1. No better than A7R IV reason 2 No smaller then A7R Iv with the lens attached. reason 3. Smaller selection of lenses which also are no better than those available to A7R IV users. reason 4. Neutral density filter $90 aftermarket big deal. 5. Aspect ratio - every camara has these options. So the "highlights" are no better but everything from the plug in viewefinder, hotshoe, lack of mechanical shutter, lack of IBIS is worse - how does this make it "the best full frame mirrorless landscape camera" - let's be serious it's form over function big time - you like the design that's up to you but it's seriously lacking as an overall photographic tool.
The whole L mount ecosystem is so under rated. True gems that a lot of people are starting to catch onto.

The crop zoom feature looks really interesting, too
Amazing camera for nature photography!
My future camera
Great video and a great camera but what is taking so long to get one. ?

Crop zoom only for video?
Was this also filmed on a FP?
Looks like a great camera. How's it do taking macro shots of opal? Btw, great boots, dry feet!

Where are the photos with this camera?
Which Mount??
Hello!
The SIGMA FP L is compatible with L-Mount lenses. SIGMA, Leica and Panasonic lenses in L-Mount are available.

Just bought an fp - March 22.
More for stills for video - for now…
Gee, I wonder how unbiased they are to be able to make such a bold claim

£2k for a Camera is expensive..
Remove Video features & drop price to £1.500. Dynamic range at iso 100 is only 11.2 stops, inadequate.
Funny how actual nature looks nothing like nature photography
It’s the worse camera for me,
but the Sigma lenses are best for me.
