a freaking desk lamp!!!! with warm and cold tones!
The most important things: being stress less and in a quite place
Two things I need......a glass of wine and music.
Sounds perfect!
LOL I was having issues with the colors I was using for a card. They were just off- until I realized I was dipping my brush in my wine! Some of us just need supervision.
Yes 🍷 🥰
Definitely music!
I’ll be over for a Moscato!
I love my rolling cart. It makes it easy to turn my kitchen table into a “studio”.
Same here!
You're awesome-don't ever change. You're so alive.
😘😘😘
Clip on book light. When I'm on the sofa sketching and other people want to watch a film or whatever I can clip the book light on, choose warm, cool or neutral light from it and the see what I'm doing without bothering anyone. I have them in every room now!
Gosh I love sofa sketching!
Oh Kristy you are speaking my language! I have the rolling cart, I went out to our guest room and brought it in my "studio"
I am still not used to that word because I never in a million years thought I'd learn to paint, I am thrilled that I now do just that, my organizing is evolving, thanks for all the good ideas. P.S. You look Mauv-alus! Lots of love Patti
Yay! And thanks!!
Paper cutters are the best. Use often in my scrapbooking.😊
Yes they are!
I hit a second hand store and scored a book of photography and a botanical book. I know you can't copy but it definitely inspires.😊
Oh that’s a perfect resource!
My stepfather always told me something along the line of "you have to have the right tools". Comfort and easy access to what you need does make a difference, and I see that it is also a tool. I've been stuck with the mindset that I must organize everything first, before I make something. Then I collect more supplies, in effect sabotaging myself. Upon that realization, I put everything out of sight that wasn't going to help me. I have a selection of themed prismacolors. I looked through coloring pages and found one that always spoke out to me; and I started. AND I got into it. I'm so relieved I can't even express. I am still working on it bit by bit. I can pick it up now, and still get into it. Color while listening/watching podcasts. I'm looking forward to seeing how I will do each section. It's like, it's working the way it is supposed to, and I'm getting something out of it.
I prefer books over google for images to use as inspiration or whatever. Also, I have a couple old books, dictionary with pictures to copy/use for collage. Just bought a book of labels and they are so gorgeous, no way will I be able to use them. Guess I'll have to draw or paint them. Books are made to be looked at, so the images are well done, well produced and visually superior to digital images. {Digital images are more boring, too after a while.} It is easy to go macro or micro with the detail.
When you brought out the wood boxes I knew that you are a woman after my own heart. I love wood boxes, wood drawer organizers, etc. This is what I plan to do. I think of them as like project boxes. Now that things are starting to open up, I shall explore more tools as I go along. Thank you for this video. It really helped me wrap my brain around it, and gives me hope. 🥰
Quick tip from a pet groomer-use your ring finger& thumb instead of index finger & thumb.much more control and more comfey when you get used to it,really.!i am all about a new chair & lots of books. You have such yummy ideas!
You are so right about having supplies organized for easy use. I had all mine sorted into 3 totes by what it is stored in the kitchen. Then I decided to put the most used stuff in one tote. Getting tired of lugging it back and forth, I put it in the family room where I've always done my art in front of the television (the holiday cooking shows are great) on the coffee table sitting on the floor. Then I decided to put what I'm using right now in a tote bag. No more hunting through stuff. I'm so much happier. Next move is to a cart. Thanks Kristy!
Wonderful!!
That tape looks like glue on tap!! ❤ A simple way to have adhesive! 👍 The dishes, while really cute, would be dangerous around me, lol!! 🤣 If it's able to be broken, yup, I'm good at that! 😅 I think the magazine Birds and Blooms is a visual inspiring magazine. To see real-life pictures of flowers and birds in vivid color really brighten a dreary day! 🐦🌺
The opener that helps those stubborn paint tube tops. Holbein tape for my paper-forever and ever. Left it on for 2 months. Came right off. Crisp line. Not a single tear.
I still need to try that Holbein tape!
For me having reference photos helps me when it comes to painting.
Yesss!!
The paper trimmer changed a lot for me. I like my palettes with custom sized swatch paper. I also use a cutter for the corners so they get round and nice.
Ohhhhh yas!!!
@@KristyRiceand the dude who❤😮ww96è8
Bingo! I'm autistic & ADHD so I have to have privacy, comfort & be able to put quirky inspiring stuff in my studio/lab.
👍🏻💃🏻👍🏻💃🏻👍🏻
I have a tape dispenser gun and I love it. I have never used it for watercolor I used it for card making. You just opened my eyes to a game changer. Bravo! Thank you!😊👍
You’re very welcome!!
That strait cutter is awesome. worth every cent.
Yesssss
Thank you lady 😻. You make me smile with all your helpful ideas not a bad legacy to have 💖.
I'm so glad!
Wait. What?!? I NEED that continuous spray bottle. Ordering it right now!
It’s awesome-sauce!
I will totally agree about comfortable seating. I also sew and need a comfortable chair when I’m on the sewing machine I splurged and spent what I thought was stupid money on an awesome task chair which is also what I use when I’m water coloring. It was the best $300 I have ever spent.
Love it!
I agree with you so much about the ATG gun and paper cutter…I could not have made all my cards without them and rely on these two items. It makes me want to finish my art so I can send out a card to my family and friends.
Yes girlfriend! I also just invested in n ergonomic chair! Life changing!
Wahooo!!
I use my scotch tape gun for last 20 yrs !!!! I love it
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I would love to have enough room to get organized. Unfortunately I live in a very small apartment and I actually paint and craft on my bed. Talk about uncomfortable! But, art helps my mental health, so being comfortable is going to have to wait for a later date. Thank you for sharing!!
Your obviously comfortable enough to keep going and that’s what’s important!
I'm in a studio apartment ~ but I've got a desk!! I bought a desk chair with wheels.... and it's pink! But not sure it's the best yet....
The book absolutely! And I love the idea of the ceramic dishes!
Love those dishes
That was awesome! And why am I the only one here? 😂But it's a weekday and the work day is just ending... ❤ Thanks for the inspiration, Kristy!!!!!!!!
You bet!!!
I get most of my inspiration books from thrift stores. For just a few dollars I have so much to work with. And if the net goes out I already have what I need to create 😅
That's a great idea!
I love art books, they are EVERYTHING ❤❤❤
Agree!!!
Thank you - I agree comfort & good variety of easy to find/grab auxiliary supplies makes painting/creating a lot more - lets you create, not fret. I have most of what you shared. Just opened Amazon & ordered a continuous sprayer, can’t wait to use it!
I have the paper cutter on my wish list. Mine is almost twenty years old and needs replacing
Nice!
YEAH!! I *NEED* THIS!!!! 😂
Its true, and the reason why I cant feel comfortable making art if I have a bunch of chores or errands hanging over my head.
So true! My shop is cold in winter! Hard to get out there and inspired. Inside warm and dry? Awesome.
Exactly!
love the energy!! ❤
I don't have a space yet. These are great ideas. Think I will start with a comfortable chair. Then, decide what my important/most used items are. That is, once I clear out a space to use.
Thank you for going beyond making art to help us.
You're welcome!
So i have had that Fiskars cutter for at least a year now... but I had no idea about that little fold-down ruler. 🤦 Thanks, Kristy!
Ha awesome!!
Not so much the Lazy Susan but I bought a rolling cart as part of the reorganization of my tiny craft room and it has changed my life. All my favourite tools, right next to my desk or anywhere else I want. It's definitely made me more productive.
Anything on wheels is good!
Love this!!
Being a SAHP, I have found that if I spend too many days in my comfy clothes (pj’s…. don’t judge) I will be far less productive and if I make it a point to shower and change into clothes that make me feel good as if I’m about to leave the house, I am far more productive and have an attitude more of “Let’s get this done!!” And it’s spilled over into my art making as well.
I leave scissors all over the house and stock up at back to school season sales because the kids take off with them all the time. We must have about 15 pairs in this house somewhere but keep a main stockpile in one convenient place!
I actually designed and built my own coffee table that opens up to store my supplies in as my in-the-house ‘studio’ space. I got a meditation cushion to sit on the floor on. It was my cozy space and got it ‘perfectly’ set up only to use it a few times and discovered that it’s not very comfortable working like that even with the space i designed for my legs and feet to go under. I spent hours on that table building it and designing it from scratch, right down to stain and sealing it and it was a huge disappointment that I can’t use it as much as I intended. It still holds all my stuff in it just fine when I’m done, but I have also discovered that when I DO actually put my stuff away even if all organized in their specific designated spaces to easily find later, I use it LESS, because then I have to pull it all out again and set it up, leaving me to have a mentality of it’s too much of a hassle to do so and convince myself that it’s not worth the effort and reeeeallllly have to drag my feet to do so. This is why I love your idea of leaving ‘magic cups’ in spots all around to have your supplies within reach and easy access. Idk why I never thought of that!
The lazy Susan idea would definitely be helpful! I was just painting the other day and thinking how useful it would be to have one for my supplies!
The spray bottle, OMG! I didn’t know this existed until my sister did my hair and I got so excited to know that was a thing and how useful it would be especially for spraying my palettes with!!
I have a paper trimmer and actually I own like 3 of them and use them ALLL the time! I even have a very old school, school guillotine one that’s probably as old as I am!
I came up with an idea for an inspiration jar a long time ago. You get a big jar with a lid and write random idea that come to you over time in small pieces of paper. It can have colors written on them, places (which reminds me that GoogleEarth/Maps street view is an awesome resource to get a direct view of certain places to use as a reference which is a whole new tip all in itself!!) or you can write down different animals, maybe different aspects of human anatomy like “hands” “eyes” etc, things you find in nature/see everyday like “coffee cup” “your breakfast” whatever it is, just write down these things individually on that paper, fold each one up, put them in your jar and mix them up and before you know it, you have a huge stock pile of ideas you can draw/paint when you’re bored. You can draw one or if you’re feeling bold, you can draw more than one from the jar! Maybe you pull out three different ones that say, for example, “Eiffel Tower” “”blue” and “butterfly” you can come up with whatever you want out of those cues. Maybe it’s a painting in all blues, with the Eiffel Tower and butterflies, maybe it’s the Eiffel Tower turned into a butterfly with a blue frame around it, maybe it’s just the Eiffel tower with blue butterflies or maybe even a giant butterfly as a statue and tiny blue Eiffel Towers fluttering about😂 who knows, but the idea is to get the creative juices flowing and not get stuck, just make the first thing that comes to mind no matter how silly it is and just remember to have fun with it! When you’re done, put your ‘ideas’ back into the jar and remember to keep adding to it over time to keep it fun! You’ll never run out of things to do!
I have a lazy susan with sides and found pottery containers on it to hold supplies right in front of me and 2 task lights on my table that make what I need at my fingertips!!🌹
Perfection!!
Great thoughts and ideas. Thank you so much.❤
You are so welcome!
Hey Kristy, I have turned my spare bedroom into my painting-craft room. Company can sleep on the couch. I have several of your suggestions in place already. I must be on the right track. Keep doing what you do....we love it. ❤❤❤❤
That is awesome!
I *want* that Hippo w/Flowers Cup!!! 😮
Bought that in a small shop in Utah!! Lol
Great video! I am actually looking for a chair which is funny because I was thinking that I didn't really need it, since it's "ok", but it's really not. I'm inspired to actually buy one now. I would've never thought of the tape dispenser, but using it for the paint pans sounds like reason enough to invest in one. Also, the ceramic dishes seem like a really good idea, especially since they stack up. Oh... and the lazy Susan! So many good ideas! (also I bought some of your swatching pages and can't wait for them to arrive!)
Yes the atg tape is pliable so you can build it up and make it thick to really grip and more dimensional item like a half pan :)
Don’t forget to look in sewing machine shops or fabric stores for comfortable chairs. I love mine!
The porcelin stack set in delph blue is amazing..so pretty too. Got it when I first spotted it in your videos. I really want your standing desk too that you've shown before. I think the Fiskars looks like the next option for me. Have a cheap version but think need a good quality one for my Arches paper.
Never heard of an ATG gun but I’m going to get one!!!
I am so glad you posted. I have been checking for a couple of days and NO KRISTY. I was getting worried.
Oh never worry I’m here!!
Omg, I have been looking for a tape dispenser; thank you! I am a stroke survivor, and have to do everything one hande. I need this to tape down my paper! Thank you for this info kristy❤❤
Oh this will be perfect for you!!
I love my ATG guns!! I have a 1/2” & 1/4”!! I have used them for art work and for mailing things off to family and friends!! Thanks for the stackable palette idea!! I’ve been using little plastic condiment cups!!
Oh yay!! Another ATG lover!
I just purchased the stackable pallet as well. So excited to try it.
Love!!!❤
😘😘😘
I love love your channel. I'm doing a Christmas gnome on wood. What is the best way to seal it? And paper book marks?
I would test a non-yellowing polyurethane :)
I’ve had the ATG gun for years. I bought the last refills from Amazon. I am not sure if they’re as sticky as the original refills I had previously
I have so been needing a new chair. lol
Too many people sittin’ on jenky chairs ‘round here!
@@KristyRice I know! I am so over the sawed off 1970s barstool
Can you make a video or a short about the ATG gun? I have never heard of it and it looks a bit scary, haha.
I can!!!
Some years ago, when I was running with the idea of making smash journals, I saw another Tuber using the double sided tape, they didn't put it into the ATG. Later in the description box, was the ATG. With that said, I saw I needed to get in on it and purchase one. The only thing I'll say is they're an expense. However, once you have one... You'll never regret making the purchase. Kristy, would you like to swap? Mine is pink. Pink... I would rather have yours!!! Lol!! However, the wife approved the purchase, so as I said before... Almost everything in the crafting world is now made female friendly. Which I know will push some manly men away. But as I always say, never knock a tool, if it works. Also if you can get your spouse in on it, the more fun and enjoyment you (men) will have! Now, let's go play Barbies... I'm kidding! Are ya crazy? My daughter won't let me play with hers! She's saving hers for her children! Lol. She's 23! Anyway, back to the ATG... It makes a perfect gift... Speaking of gifts, you can make seamless wrapping a thing with this tool! I agree with Kristy, the ATG has soooo many uses! The wife probably would like to use it on my lips sometimes!!! Soooo many uses!!!
Hahaha love this comment! Yes it’s awesome for wrapping gifts!!!
Would you please share the name of the floral art inspiration book? It looks perfect for me. Gracias!

Can I just say, how watching you all amped up at the beginning of this episode, makes me sick!?😄 I mean that in the most possible light! Ever since I freaking' broke my wrist, when I see my fellow Tubers just having their best life ever, I can't wait to get this cast off. Some kids want their two front teeth for Christmas. Some adults want their baby for Christmas. I just want this dang cast off for Christmas!!!
Oh dang I’m soooo sorry!! What a bummer :(
@@KristyRiceNo worries! It makes me so happy to see you❤. I'll just have to step up my game, as soon as this cast comes off!
My chair that I sit on to paint is hard as a rock 😢. I’m been considering changing it but obviously, I need to get it done ✔️
Yeah there will come a day when you’re just done with that chair!!
Which chair did you show in this vidéo ?
Do you sell your largest brush, that big dagger brush, separately? Or know of a close alternative? I really like it, and would like to have one. However, I can't justify buying a whole set of brushes. I have lots and lots of brushes (did I say LOTS?! 😳) to the point I have many back in storage (but should probably sell or give away), but I don't have one like that, and my Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS) has been fully set off by that brush, and a Tums won't fix it. I like the way it is curved, the thickness of it, etc. It looks fun! I have found a few elsewhere, but they tend to mostly be cut at an angle, not that nice curve your brush has. If you don't sell that one separately now, you should because it is not an easy brush to find on its own. And I want it like a toddler wants a rainbow colored giant lollipop. 😁
Kristy shush don’t tell them about the stacked ceramic palette. The prices will go up on Amazon 🤣
I'm actually designing my own coming soon!
@@KristyRice yesssssss 💃💃
ATG is a great took,,,however, it is not usable by left-handed people! when held in the left hand, it is not possible to see where tape is being dispensed as rollers and casing block view. I have attempted to contact Scotch, but no reply!
Aghhhh that is terrible! I didn’t even think of that!
I need to check out the ATG gun!!!
RIIIGHT??? 😃
Not gonna lie, yes you do lol!
Got a LINK, Kristy? 😃
Oh! Just took a bit for the links to upload! I found them! 🌟

Ok here’s the thing- I love your guts truly! BUT!!! Why say “ LAZY SUSAN” so many times!! lol it’s a long pet peeve of mine and my kids have teased me for years with gag gifts over it! … yes I’m a Susan and Lazy I am not! So very the years I’ve called those turny things a whirligig ,a turn about amount many others! I’m just kidding mostly but it hit me hard after watching my 2 yr old grandson band potty trying and just cleaned up dinner dishes to watch and relax a video of my buddy Kristy to hear “ lazy Susan” mentioned at least 5x!! - love you though and great advice on those wooden trays!! Paint me a “ BLACK EYED SUSAN! Xxoo😂
I've been trying to buy your watercolor paints and you're all sold out. So sad. However, glad it is selling so well for you.😊👍
Sold out on Amazon but not here:)

@KristyRice just purchased it. Thank you so much for that link.😊👍
So, I’m a writer who fools with watercolor, and I think what you’re saying here goes for all creative projects. And may I add, organization. Not NEATNESS, but you need to be able to find your stuff. (And I always told people, when I taught yarn spinning, that we need tools that work, not expensive or fancy tools.)
And if you’re happy with what you made and don’t burn the house down, you did it right.
ETA: Never mind the organization, shoulda watched the whole vid first. 🙄
Yesss nothing drives me nuts more than not being able to find my stuff!!
Boop
Thanks!

Your travel brushes are gone too.😒
They are but we have the stock. Sending to Amazon this week. Should be in kristyrice.com by tomorrow!

Really!? You want Cray Crays to come at you!? Saying that you love a debate!? That last one almost gave you a coronary!!!😂. Although that was more of an attack on your business. However asking for a debate might bring a crowd ya don't want. Just saying, friend!!!
Yeah that wasn’t really a debate lol! And she’s onto someone else now so it’s off my radar 🤦🏻♀️
