So which one is your fave? I’m torn between the poinsettia and the blue holly❤🤷🏻♀️
I love them all. I think they’re really nice. But my favorite is the tree and the holly. I think they all look good just the way they are, but it also would be interesting to add to them. I think you could do either. I think it would be nice to have copies of each one and leave one the same as it is and then add more to the other.
Snowflake!!!
Bluery - my new fave word!!!
Gasp! I do love that blue Holly, especially with the white lines in blue!!!❤
My favorite was honestly the tree before the additions
I would add gold and a glitter in the blue or silver just loads of fun.
Like the poinsettia but a gold pen instead. Love love love the wreath
Oooh ya gold and the liner brush!!
I love all of these but that blue holly!!! 💙💙💙
Thank you!!
Fun ❤fun❤fun ❤ thank you I like painting with you.😊😊😊🎉
Comfort viewing for watercolourists♥️🎨 I would have added some pearlescent or metallic effects
Thank you for the reminder to stretch out of my comfort zone. I have been looking at a Christmas card I made, feeling like it needs more… off I go.
💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Yay
Kristy these are cute 🥰! I think 🤔 that would have added some sparkle to the wreath & tree with some silver or gold shimmer, like glitter, metallic paint. Definitely some simple quick ideas for Christmas cards!! Thanks for sharing this with us!
Great idea!!
I’m soooo in love with the Blue Holly, and the snowflake and the tree! I did also love the freeness of the poinsettia! I’ve been practicing making poinsettias for days, so this DEFINITELY helps me free my mind space and makes it less intimidating!!! So glad you did this video!!! THANK YOU!!!
Yay! Thank you!

I think part of what is scary when asking to push yourself, is that if you don't have a style it is hard to add the flourishes. You were able to go in and add the amazing details that you are so good at! You have a foundation (this is my excuse). I can ask myself if it needs correction, did I push my lights and darks enough, but when I think about adding gold or something "extra" it just about takes my breath away. Basically, I am allowing myself to be bullied by a piece of paper.
You’re right :) But bully that paper back. The worst thing that happens is you ruin it and it’s not the end of the world!
I like the snowflake and the holly. They are lovely.
Thanks! Hope you try one!
I find that I need to just stop thinking and go! I get some of the best work done that way. It's hard for me because I am absolutely scared I'll just create garbage but honestly, besides me, who would know?🤷♀️ 😂
Exactly!
I just embarked on this journey and I’m so happy I found you! What joy you bring to these teaching moments! Love your style friend 😊
So glad you’re here!!
Kristy, I absolutely love your tutorials. Most of all your giving permission for us to just enjoy the joy. Was just notified your book will be here tomorrow! Yeaaa!
Wonderful!!
They are all beautiful, I love the choices you made on each one.
😘😘
I was Really hoping you did some holiday cards. I was born in 1970 so I am an 80s teen. 😊 Duran Duran, Culture Club... Looking forward to seeing your projects. 🎨
Yessss! To all of it!
1971 for me ;)
This may be inappropriate to comment on here, but… HOW did you lose weight? I’d love to know. You look fabulous ❤
I don’t mind :) Detox using Bright Line Eating for 9 months, then balanced eating with a focus on Whole foods and counting calories since then. Been maintaining for two years and recently started losing again :) It’s all about not depriving yourself but learning new habits, changing your palette and I didn’t even attempt exercise for the first year lol!
I do dirty keto. I'm 78 and have lost 50 lbs. My labs from cardiology were perfect. You got this.
fantastic work, this is a wonderful video ❤❤❤
Thank you :)
I'm in love with all of these. I ordered your paintbrushes and have been very satisfied with them. I tried to order your paint pallet but it is sold out and unavailable.....waaah! The colors are to die for! (and I booped you)
Thank you so much!! We do have a few palettes left here until January:) kristyrice.com/products/making-art-for-joys-sake-watercolor-palette/
@@KristyRice thank you for the reply and link to your website. unfortunately it says sold out. will you be getting more in the future?
Christy you are my girl! I have watched probably 32 tutorials on Christmas cards and Christmas stuff. None of them have given me the inspiration that you do. I get so wrapped up in perfectionism. You give me freedom! Hippie Holly Daze! I love you.
Love love it! Thank you!!
Love the wreath. Leave as is but I loved the change you made. Encourages me.
Kristy, you must be reading my mind! I just tried out a “loose” watercolor wreath. I was not happy with the results. I’m going to try these some of these cards next. Is using all cotton paper important for this?
All cotton for these is not a must :)
Love your take on the snowflake! I was doing some yesterday... But Yours!! ❤ Great video, never disappointed .
Yay! Thank you!
Always giving boops!
I would use a silver paint or, better yet, a silver Posca marker to put accents on the blue hollies. I like the tree best, but they are all adorbs.
Always appreciate it!!
Ya brang it again!!! Just pulling it through from blah to... Eeeewwwwww! She said get jiggy with it!!! At least she didn't say it while working wet on wet... Just eeeeeeeewwwww!!!!😂
Hahahaa somebody caught that one!! I could t resist!!!
I loved everything except the wreath just I'm sorry it wasn't my style, I just couldn't get funky donut out of my head with it lol. I think that the poinsettia would benefit from the tiniest bit of gold leaf. Everything was so beautiful and beyond what I think I can do just yet being a pencil artist who is learning watercolor.
By the way I have looked everywhere every single day in the mail for those handmade watercolors that you made and I'm a little worried that they may have gotten lost with the postal service because well to be honest they're kind of stupid at this time of year. I hope that everything is okay and I really hope that you and your family are doing well.
Omg well I planted that donut imagery so it’s my fault! We’ve been so behind shipping orders but I haven’t forgotten I promise!
@@KristyRice I am so grateful sweetie you have no idea what it means to me to get something that you made to further my watercolor journey since my paints are so limited and I have so much respect for you and the way that you teach. I'm saving up to get your brush set and your palate but it's going to take me a while as we have grandchildren to deal with for Christmas and birthdays 😊. And it's no problem I was just worried that it was the postal service.
@@KristyRice I'm really hoping to get the Albrecht Durers for Christmas from my husband since I'm such a pencil nerd who wants more watercolor in my art
Your take on the snowflake blew my mind! I just love it! Snowflakes have always been scary for me… Perfection so not attainable. Now you have freed me to try your method.
They’ve been scary for me too!
My fav is the snowflake, will try it for sure, maybe add some creamy color to the background. Love the Holly as is. The poinsettia is fab, love the pencil. The wreath really became a wreath with the felt tip pen, before it was a frosted donut with sprinkles (sorry). Love your commentary and projects. You inspire me.
Don’t be sorry! I thought the same thing lol!!
I liked the challenge idea. The pencil and pen were good calls for adding. I think I would have used silver paint or pen on the snowflake and maybe the tree to make them shimmer. I may be crazy, but I wanted to see what some orange or peach (maybe even copper?) could look like on the blue monochromatic berries painting. Probably because of the nail color? 😅 Anyway, I think I would have given it a go and then done another if I didn't like the finished result. 😉 I appreciate your encouragement to experiment and make it a joyfilled adventure. Thanks.
Ooh copper on the blue holly would be cool!
I just received your palette and paint brushes. I can’t wait to try them tomorrow. I am looking forward to painting all day!
Oh wow sounds like a perfect day!! Let me know how it goes
Well Kristy i love to watch you because ypu tell it like it is. An therefore it lets every onre do what every they ip want 10-4 An you make it so easy for ones that or starting new . So you have helped so many ❤linda from Sherman Texas 😊
Yes! Thank you!
They all turned out wonderful. I think the blue one is my favorite, but also love the tree. Thanks so much Kristy, have a beautiful day.
Thank you! You too!
Interesting technique Will definitely try. Thank you
You’re welcome 😊
Sorry to bother you but might I have the link to your store?
www.kristyrice.com
Favorite is the blue holly!! So pretty
Mine too! Thanks for watching!
I just ordered your brush kit for a Christmas gift and I absolutely love them! The stiffness and flexibility of each brush is perfect, and the linen bag is pretty 😍. I’m going to order one for myself too! I hope in the future you might consider making a STIFF quill brush that functions like a sable round but with stiffer bristles. I’ve never been able to find one that can hold a lot of water/pigment but also stay stiff enough to handle small detail work. You are the woman for that job!
Okay now I really want to understand more about this quill brush!! Email me!!
I'll be looking for this as well, i can remember in art school oing a 9x13 gouache painting with toothpicks (The flat ones with a wider base that come to a tip at the opposite end), as I couldn't find a brush for the look I was going for! Of course it was an all nighter as I had left it late looking for brushes until the last moment XD
Love, love, love! Just as they were!😁
Thank you!!
I love this and what you say about joy!
Yay!
Thank you for another great video, Kristy! Happy Holidays! I love them all, but the blue holly might be my favorite. Your 00 and liner brush skills are so inspiring! I have such a hard time committing to the small details because I'm afraid I'll lose the freshness/looseness of things, but you never do!
Keep that wrist loose and let the movement come from your arm! And thank you!!
Ohhh the snow flake…
😘😘😘
I love these so much!!
Haha thank you!!
Shuut uup! I love it!!! I am feeling festive! Although I can't paint it myself, it'll make for a very busy Christmas week! As soon as this cast comes off in the 20th, Imma catch up on everything since November!!! I will be puting it all up on my other channel @the buzzybeehivestudios! I just pray my wrist doesn't give out, and my hand strength will be strong enough. If it's anything like my therapy, I don't hold much hope. But I'll take you along for the emotions, good and bad!!!❤
How about your other hand? Give that a go!
@@KristyRice I tried... My right hand is so dominant whenever I write, paint or lift left handed, the right hand tries to compensate, trying to twist in the cast. The wrist was broken and dislocated, they had to put a plate on my ulna. So, whenever the wrist involuntarily tries to twist, it's extremely painful...
💚❄💚🎄💚❄💚🎄💚
😘😘😘
LOVE this video! Your teaching skills are awesome Kristy, thank you and Merry Christmas!!
Thank you! You too!
so nice, ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you 🤗
Yes to graphite in poinsettia! I would've tried the graphite that comes in a tin & works like watercolor....so fun!
Ohhh hmmm now I need to paint another poinsettia and do that!
My daughter just gifted me a set of your brushes!!! I cannot wait to paint!! :) I love the sentiments printed on each brush. And the pouch is not only beautiful, but say what I need to hear ALL the time: "fear has no place here". Thank you for this gorgeous creation! 🥰
Wonderful!
Lately ive been playig with adding liner pens to my watercolour and gouache paintings, like looks sketchy lines and ive been loving it and totally reaching that ✨joy✨
Wonderful!
I love them all 💕🎄but the snowflake is my favorite. I was really hoping you would do some Christmas painting. Love your style and I’m enjoying using your brushes and paints. You always make me think out of the box. 🥰
Happy holidays!
I really love how these turned out. I’ve painted so many different cards this winter, trying to paint 1 for each teacher for my kids and 1 for all the family. I’ve spent hours on each card and while they are lovely I wish I had taken it more easy on myself because. Thank you for showing us how to make things less perfect and more flowy and joy filled!
Flowy joy is where it’s at!!
Hi, do you ship to Europe? 😊
Yes we do
@@KristyRice yoehoe!!!
I love all the addition you did on each painting…It add more dimension. You are always so interesting and the risk taking is the joy!
Indeed!
So, I think either that before the additions or after look great. I see the first iterations as softer and the second ones bolder. I’d be proud to send either one for a holiday card.
Appreciate that :)
The colour pallette of that snowflake is gorgeous!!
Thanks!
Too busy - liked wreath as if was
Nope
