We are officially at the halfway point of this series. Between Caterpie, Metapod, Kakuna and Magikarp NOT being able to beat the game and both Nidoran sharing a video, there are 146 possible solo runs (Weedle not withstanding) and we are at video 73.
@G.R.O.M413 Harden is Kakunas only move in a solo capacity, it can (and almost always does) have poison sting through weedle, but it doesn't technically learn it itself. So a solo run would have to evolve a weedle into a kakuna, and even then, it would need ungodly amounts of luck to beat even Sabrina, let alone Agatha or Lance, and even with the EASIEST possible rival I doubt you're getting past fival
Laughed out loud when you used the Carbos on the Spearow and didn't mention it at all in the narration, these runs are packed with interesting content I love it
@@김석재-e6k When I played gen 1 I tried to integrate all the HM moves into my team. Or rather, I did that. I didn't think as much about optimization back then (and having HM moves was definitely not the only way my team wasn't optimized!), but perhaps it was for the better since I had a good time and didn't fret so much over stuff. I still do think it's a reasonable conduct to try to include HM users in one's pokémon teams, though. It makes sense given the flavor context -- trainers get around using their pokémon, and they owe their experiences to their pokémon as much as the other way around. Even if it's just for "roleplaying" purposes, it makes sense to have an assortment of both battling moves and utility moves. Makes the game feel more fleshed out as a fictional setting.
The worst part about a Jrose video is that it ends. I've already almost rewatched his entire catalouge, but these videos help me relax and get to sleep, so I might be going for another full watch soon. Keep up the great work, Jrose.
I use them to sleep too. But mainly his older stuff because he started yelling at tense moments in the newer stuff and it wakes me up. It's less now but still happens a bit.

Hello from Ottawa Jrose! I have been watching you since this series has started. Well, since the Squirdle episode. I love tracking the best runs, I hope you do something similar for other generations.
@@SombreroPharoah Exactly, they were always meant to be a trio! They were the original users of the three elemental punch moves in RBY, they all got baby forms in GSC and then Jynx just gets forgotten about afterwards 😭

Can't believe we're halfway done. Been here for a while, and I absolutely love these videos. Whenever one pops up it's an instant watch (or asap, if instant isn't possible) :D Love this, and I'm glad you're here
Been watching these for a while they forever never get old or boring to me. It actually helps myself and others for strategy's and other ways to make the games more of a challenge or more of a way to blitz through the game. All I can say is thank you for making these even if it's not with said items people use on machamp etc again gaming with the pokemon and its original stat's with the occasional shopping for stat boosts. Again making the challenge fun yet fair too.

Every time I see a Jrose11 upload my eyes instantly widen and within seconds I click and know I everything will be alright. Sometimes I even have it on for background noise while doing work outside or cleaning. Something about pokemon and Jrose and being Nostalgia works perfectly together
Thank you Jrose for all the entertaining videos!! With all the laughs, you’re channel and videos have helped me through some of my worst times!!! I save your whole playlist to revisit just for that reason! Keep up the great work!

I love seeing these videos to death, one of the best series on YT rn. I wish we could see more middle forms of 3 stage lines. We got Poliwhirl, what about things like Kadabra, Machoke, Pidgeotto and Dragonair
I don't think electric types were shafted in Gen 1 as much as electric types just sucked but as a type being able to answer Water and Flying is often enough of a role on a team. It is just that Electabuzz is unfocused, Electrode is just speed and nothing else, Magneton doesn't have any movepool and doesn't take hits well or out speed much, Raichu is a middle evolution playing at being fully evolved but both Jolteon and Zapdos are meta defining, and their type is a huge reason why.
Found your channel at the first impossible Red/Blue Magikarp fun and have been hooked since! I feel like I win the Agatha lottery every time a Jrose video is uploaded!
I love this format because these are long videos that I can easily run in the background while doing something. One thing to note: You keep saying that you choose your Rival's starter depending on which one might give you the hardest time. This is neat at first sight for his "boss monster" but sometimes it might be a higher challenge if you looked at how the whole team would be altered when you choose a certain starter. This video is a great example: You chose Bulbasaur because the Grass Typing would give you a harder time compared to the other two that are weak against your type. On the other hand, you can use Psychic move that lets Venusaur struggle. If you instead chose Squirtle for your rival's starter, he would have had Blastoise instead of Gyarados, where Blastiose could at least survive a hit while Gya with its 4x weakness would fall no matter what and he would have Exeggutor which is a way bigger wall against your Electabuzz than Venusaur does.
i believe he talked about this before and that he chooses the starter that is strong against his pokemon if there is one to kinda mimic the way the game would do it if you could actually choose any given pokemon as your starter, and if none of the starters are clear picks he considers the rest of the team
I can't remember what my first one was, but I've been here for a year or two, and I do really enjoy your videos. I did inventory at work one evening, and while I didn't enjoy being up at 12 am scanning tags, your videos helped make the experience way more bearable.
Jrose, I came across your vids via RUclips suggestions when scrolling for something to watch and I have never looked back. It's interesting to see how a pokemon can perform doing a solo run and whenever I'm busy, it's also something good to listen to along the side too :) keep up the great work
Honestly started looking at your vids during the sun/moon days. Trying to get some of the trickier hidden abilities from those SOS chains, some of those tips were invaluable to me. I haven't really played pokemon since, but these solo challenge runs definitely scratch that nostalgic itch.
16:30 I'm doing exactly that. I have perfected the starter runs. Squirtle is the fastest, Charmander is a very close 2nd, but Bulbasaur is a far 3rd. I use the same no item & no save in Elite 4 rules. However, the ideal times REQUIRE that the NO run is a minimum battles run. Defeating the gym members is essential in minimizing the time and making the Elite 4 consistent in 1 go. Edit: But Pikachu in Yellow is even worse than Bulbasaur.
23:45 Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think the level curves are actually exponential. Aren't they polynomial curves. Like cubic or quintic or something like that. Well, come to think of it, they're definitely not exponential. Because how would that work with "medium slow" or "fast" and what not. Exponential would mean that the amount of experience points you'd need for a level is a multiplicative factor larger than the previous level. That's fine, people seem to use "exponential" for anything these days. The mathematically correct term for what you care about is monotonically increasing though. That's the property that makes it better to save rare candies.
