Mark's understanding of sport science, and body mechanics must be a huge contributor of his success in coaching bowling. Listening to him relate other sports and general body mechanics to the sport of bowling makes a ton of sense.
This guy is an absolute legend.. Thanks to The Clean Up Crew and Mark for bringing this content to us mere mortals. All of this advice for free is incredible

He's got such a fantastic EYE. Maybe he couldn't execute, and I love his humility on that topic, but you can't deny he can absolutely see what you NEED to do.

Thank you for answering another one of my questions! I had to ask because I had a coach analyze my form and told me my timing was too early. He went as far as referencing your two handed video showing the timing spot from Belmo. It didn’t seem right as I plant and felt my timing was late rather than early.
Your answer is reassuring as my timing spot is right when my heal lands on the floor! There’s lots to my game I still need to work on, but I’m glad that my timing spot is good.

I have really, really enjoyed this collab that The Clean Up Crew has done with Mark Baker. I have learned so much in this series which resulted in my purchasing one of Mark's Game Changer videos. I'm motivated to take it to the next step with a virtual lesson with him. I have so many questions for Mark, but for now...I would like to know more about Rich and The Clean Up Crew. Would you guys ever do a video explaining how this all came to be??? What's the background; what lies ahead??? But for now I look forward to the next video. Great job!!!

Do you recommend walking parallel to the lane or parallel to your target line? I walk parallel to the target line. For example, when I am playing 4th arrow I will walk straight or a couple boards right. When I am playing first arrow, I will walk a bit left.

I’m starting to believe I’m a better bowler in my head than I actually am and get frustrated when I have a bad day. I’ve been bowling for about 18 months and sometimes I shoot great scores in the 200’s and sometimes I struggle to score 100. Have you any tips on managing expectations and what is the timescale from starting to becoming a better bowler?
Thanks for your channel and videos, the knowledge contained within them is invaluable!

Mark (and a lot of other bowling channels) talks a lot about "using your legs", along with Mark's 70 30 rule. But my question is, how/what can we do to achieve that? What can we work on to do that?

My question this month will be does rotation on the ball come from throwing your hand up the back of it or by spinning your wrists slightly ? which is the better throw?

How do you get out of a rut? How do you mentally tell yourself to score better after starting a game badly?

Question on release: I know you prioritize release last compared to things like accuracy, consistency, and balance. But I feel like I've reached a point where I can hit my target consistently and I post well at the foul line but my release is all over the place. Any tips?

Right handed two finger no thumb here.
On house shot I average 215 or so, and got my first 300 last month after 4 299s. I decided to join a sport shot league this summer, and everyone says throw straight at 7 pins. I started doing this late in the fall league season, and am struggling with throwing straight at them. My % dropped from about 95% to less than 10 pins which is 85-90%.
Would you recommend continuing to practice throwing straight at them or go back to hooking it like you mentioned in this video? I had success in hooking it, but am afraid of being inconsistent on sport shot patterns.

So I have had this issue for YEARS. I get a straight line bruise across my thumb, my original coach had my switch my balls to forward pitch, but it never went away. Recently, I went to regular pitch, and it improved and I still have the same problem. I don't think I am grabbing the ball, I've had other people watch and don't think I am grabbing/dropping the ball. The proshop doesnt think changing the pitch more will help. Any thing else to consider?

I am a 1 hand 2 finer bowler. What are some bowling warmups or what should I do for a warm up? I’ve never had formal coaching. My whole first game is me trying to find some consistency in movements and releases for the rest of the night.

    • @neilfrank2198
      @neilfrank2198 4 месяца назад +2

One of my key warm-ups has always been a little bit of squats while at the lane. Just a few up and downs. As well as taking a ball from the rack that is about 4 to 5 pounds lighter and swinging with that for 5 min . Work on your hand getting under it . And stretch your backswing muscle out .

Do you have any advice on making the change from a 4 step approach to a 5-step with a pivot step as a two hander? I feel like the muscle memory I've built up is really hard to break out of, and everytime I try to switch, it's very difficult to get the timing right.

Just a thought for the one hand no thumb if you're going to have a plastic ball that you're trying to throw straight anyway why not just put a thumb in it?

I'm a medium rev lefty, 4 step delivery. I left bowling in 2000 and came back in 2020. I used to slide more than I do now. I stop like a foot and a half before the foul line. I've moved up on the approach to get me closer to the foul line but it's about the same. What can I do to get closer to the foul line?

How do you know when to adjust to the oil transition if you’re striking like the front 9 and feel the urge not to move??? Also how do you try to stay warm after practice but it takes like ten years between shots with multiple people?

For someone who is getting back into bowling after 12 years, I keep muscling the ball and keep hurting my short head bicep. How can I practice to stop muscling the ball and rely on my swing and hand?

  • @IyunToe

I'm a short two hander (5ft 3in), and I have an issue with increasing my foot speed to increase ball speed, I think it could be because I take too big of a step in my approach, when I watch Boog Krol bowl, he takes tiny but quick steps and he can bowl 18-ish miles per hour, how I do I get to that type of speed with a smaller size
