    Will this work with my existing keypad?

  • @chuckb4375
    @chuckb4375 5 дней назад

    At 05:30 this video says a multimeter reading of 0 Ohms means that the zone test failed, indicating there is no EOL resistor so not compatible.
    Retrofit Alarm Kit instructions contradict that, saying that resistance between 0 (i.e., no EOL resistor) and 5200 Ohms is OK and that it "supports a maximum resistance of up to 5200 ohms under all conditions of temperature, battery, etc, with or without end of line resistors". Maybe this video should be updated so as not to confuse people...

    • @lisashaner2892

      Each retrofit only does 8 zones. So you would need at least 3 for your first floor.

      Great question, NintenDad. Each Retrofit Kit supports up to 8 zones. With 20 zones, you will need to connect 3 total kits to your system. Does this only work off batteries or can I plug it into power, I have an outlet that has battery back up I'd like to use. Or can it use the existing 12 volt DC that is available in the security box. I am looking to avoid battery anything.

      Hey neighbor, we appreciate your interest in Ring! The Ring Alarm Retrofit Kit does need to have the supplied batteries installed - learn more here: support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360032456492-Welcome-to-the-Ring-Retrofit-Alarm-Kit. Rest assured, the average battery life for the 2 x 3V Lithium CR123A is 3 years. Let us know if you have any more questions.

    Sounds good but from what I'm gathering, it doesn't sound like it's compatible with existing wired motion sensors. A version which can connect to motion sensors too would be more ideal

    • @JerryOrantes
      @JerryOrantes 5 лет назад +1

      They Ring motion sensors are fairly inexpensive. Just replace and add the ring motion sensors. You should't have more than 4 in a home.

    • @nosirrahm
      @nosirrahm 5 лет назад

      You would need to have a power source for wired motion sensors. I know some folks that use their old alarm panel wiring to power the ring key panels too. I haven’t researched the entire setup though to see how they completed the job with the power and battery backup back in.

    Hi. I have an exiting ADT system and just purchased the Ring system to replace it. I'd like use the Retrofit Kit to use the hardwired sensors since the Gen 2 contact sensors won't work on our doors that open out. When we cancel our ADT will they remove all their equipment including the alarm panel?

      Depends on your contract. if you have a lease or lease to own. Mine It was 3 years. After 3 years you don't have to surrender your alarm since you PAID already for the installation. If you have for more than the time you signed for I would cancel and when they call saying they need to remove, tell them ok and let they know they need to patch and paint every hole they had made at your house. Just a note!. It will cost more to dispatch a technician and make them to remove all the alarm, sensors, cables then patch, paint and sound proof your windows, doors and holes they made. I hope that helps!

      @@ring Hey Ring. I would like to know if I can use the ADT rx-7c (just a siren. Positive and negative prones) to the ring alarm. Or will the retrofit be able to use it as a sensor. Unfortunately I dont like the siren sound on ring or any other Z-wave siren and I figure why not use the old one I have for my previous alarm system. Thanks!

    • @ring
      @ring  4 года назад

      Great question! Currently, the only additional siren that will work with the Ring Alarm system is the Dome Siren that is available in the US only. No news to share about further integrations at the moment, and the Retrofit Kit can only be used to monitor pre-existing wired contact sensors and will not allow you to trigger any alarms. We're happy to help if you have any other questions.
