I have been to both Bali and Lombok, and I will say for sure that Lombok is much better than Bali. I just hope it doesn't suffer from pollution and mass tourism like Bali sadly has over the years. I am planning to go there again in July hopefully. I stayed in Sengiggi area, visited most of South Lombok beaches like Selong, Mawun, Kuta and Tanjung Aan. Check the waterfalls in North Lombok like Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep waterfalls. I loved the 3 Gilis but I think the Secret Gilis off SW Lombok are much better (Gili Sudak, Gili Kedis and Gili Nanggu). I think Mataram is a cool town to visit especially the temples and the huge mosque

God bless you 2 for giving Lombok some love. Not enough people know about it and how great it is. I was there March 2019 when they were still dealing with the after effects of the earthquake and countries travel advisories were still advising travelers not to go due to some potential disease (I forget which one - cholera?). I went anyway. Tourism was slow when I went but there were at least SOME people in Kuta (maybe 1/4 capacity). I went to most of the awesome beaches East & West of Kuta (just like you did) and I would have most of them to myself and a few others. The warung's I ate at said I was their only customer that day. And that was BEFORE Covid pandemic began. I can only imagine how bad things got once that started.

I’ve been going to Lombok for a few years and love it so much I now have a little warung in Bangsal Harbour! It’s been open for about a year and I’ve never been there! I’ve only seen pictures! Covid has me in locked up in Canada!! If you’re taking the fast boat to Gili or to Bali drop by and say Hi to Mul! He’ll treat you like family and say Teddy sent you please! He’ll give you a discount! It’s called HAPPY HARBOUR CAFE . Safe and happy travels to all! Cheers!

Lombok is different. I like it too. Will take a while to take over Bali. Sasak culture is interesting.

If younguys ever get a channce to come back to Lombok you should also check out the area of Sekotong in south west Lombok. Awesome b eaches, surfing, snorkelling.

lombok better..it is. and you pick very good spot at selong belanak beach where seven havens is there. those white sand beach iss for beginner surfer, next beach is for pro named serangan.
I checked that hotell and it's like 3-4000+ CAD per month.. Why did you say it was super cheap?
