Hi! I live on Lombok and just one correction. We have so many Gojek drivers here! So many men just sitting around waiting for business. Cheaper than taking a taxi is a personal driver. So many available and you can negotiate the price. We also have Grabfood if any tourists visiting want to use.

@@MD-wp5tv there are often licence checks, yes. The police station themselves in Senggigi (1 of the main tourist areas) on a regular basis, also the border from Central Lombok to East Lombok, on the road in front of the big police station in Mataram city and then various places throughout the island. You want to be careful as a tourist because they will demand a lot of money from you. You can usually get a heads up that police are up ahead on the road because you will see locals stop their motorbikes on the side of the road or quickly turn around and take off back in the direction they just came from.😅
When you do the waterfalls in the north, there are 3 more amazing waterfalls which you can take in a one day tour (5 waterfalls) ... the walk between the waterfalls is fun and an adventure for itself.
For surfing lovers, most tourists choose Mentawai Island which is in the west of Sumatra because there is one of the best surfing spots in the world and the late Paul Walker also once had a simple house there
I did solo in February. I’m going back this august. I went to malang Surabaya and Bali definitely recommend them all! Jakarta and Lombok is on my itinerary this time!
Love your videos but the 'regular Gilis' are far from overrun! We just came back from the 'regular Gilis' and I was actually suprised how calm and quiet they are (Gili Air and Meno). We also loved the Secret Gilis but just wanted to point out that regular Gilis are also worth visiting if you want a little more infrasturctur for your Island Trip.

It seems a good option for people who have a scooter license. Too isolated otherwise. The beaches look quite pretty, especially for people from countries without good beaches. I agree that Bali and the Gillis have become over-touristed, even Lembongan which used to be quiet.

I did think the Pink Beach was a bit overrated. Also did the main Gili Islands (Gili T, Gili Air and Gili Meno) and the Secret Gilis (Gili Kedis, Gili Sudak and Gili Nanggu). Visited a few mosques on the island especially Lombok Islamic Centre in Mataram and the big mosque in Kuta. Personally I just think Lombok much more nicer than Bali but that is just my opinion.
Where did you stay and how did you get to the 2 waterfalls (sendang gile and tiu kelep)? should I get a driver to go see the waterfalls? I'm likely staying in the south of Lombok.

Joel,, if you want to develop your surfing skills you should try many others empty spots in Indo, i recommend Tarimbang beach in sumba, beach are seriously superb, mostly empty Or Marosi beach (also in Sumba) and Rote island. And whenever you feel comfortable enough on the surf board, Mentawai islands is "The Place", surfer paradise.
There are too many beautiful places in Indonesia that have not been explored by foreigners and it feels like traveling around Indonesia is the same as traveling around the world. Even though the lost boy and Kristian Hansen, American and Danish RUclipsrs, tried to travel around Indonesia, only 45% of the spots they visited were impossible for them to explore.

Just interested if the horrible pollution we found on the few beaches we went to has got any better? It was about 5 years ago we were there, we we were shocked at the amount of rubbish in the water and on the beach?

@@andrewhayes213 In my opinion, I find Lombok nicer, but there's definitely less to do here than in Bali. Personally, I think a week in Lombok is enough, but if you're really looking for relaxation, Lombok is perfect. I'm 24 years old, so I do like to go out a bit, which makes Bali a lot more fun.
