It always happens. Lions has a not so great player or coach. Fans are relieved that Lions cut ties with that guy. Then that guy comes back to face Lions and have the game of their lives, only to never repeat such performance again in NFL. It even happened last year with Matt Patricia.

Definitely. I grew up 20 mins south and went atleast 1 Phillies game a year as a kid in the 80/90s . Along with a few eagles games and a few temple games . The new stadiums have no character. And nobodyreally has any home field advantage anymore because every playing surface is identical!

This Lions team was stacked,and they were as hot as any team in the NFL coming into this game. Nationally it was assumed the Eagles were going to get destroyed, even locally the fan base had kinda accepted they were going to get smoked,and were just happy they made the playoffs. Well we all know how it played out, and the final score doesn't indicate how much of a one sided game this really was. Unfortunately, they got smoked a week later in Dallas, but at least they got this one.

He came close to achieving the super rare 1,000-1,000 yard season in 2002 with 968 rushing yards and 941 receiving yards for the Raiders. He somehow only made one pro-bowl and it wasn’t in 2002. He was undervalued and underrated his entire career. The Eagles had him for 5 years and never gave him a shot at being the featured running back. He killed it for 2 years in San Francisco but they let him walk in favor of Garrison Hearst. Then he killed it again for 2 years in Oakland before injuries and age finally got to him. He would’ve accumulated some really impressive career totals if he got the ball as much as he should have in Philadelphia.

We had no real passing game though we were a deadly rushing team, our defense was solid though. The difference was that Lomas Brown opened his big fat mouth and motivated us, Fontes was a bad coach frankly even though players liked him, and Scott Mitchell could absolutely not play in any game that mattered (or in any game played outdoors seemingly). Perriman getting hurt during the game did not help and since they were behind so quickly and by so much it took away Barry Sanders,

The Eagles D is what won this team. Did you watch the game? That's usually how teams win. D wins games--especially in playoffs.
If this game was played in Detroit then maybe the Lions win but the Lions didn't have a chance in that stadium in front of those fans that day

Then why did the Lions score 30 points after the Eagles took out their starters? Is a slippery field the reason the Lions STILL haven’t won a playoff game or a division title since before this game happened 25 years ago?
