- This lovely textured stitch is reversible and is incredibly easy to do. It gives the effect of the bobble stitch but with much less effort. It is an ideal stitch to use for baby blankets, throws, scarves, jackets, wraps etc. After much thought I have decided to call it the ~Faux Bobble Stitch 😊 I have an updated tutorial for this stitch at • EASY TEXTURED STITCH F... that answers a few questions from my subscribers 😉 Hope you enjoy.
This is the only video that mentions UK stitches that I’ve actually understood! Lol
Thank you for sharing!!! I am just starting a block by block super textured blanket, and I am using this stitch for my 2nd block! It's just beautiful!
My mum loved your tutorial. She is making a baby blanket using this stitch.
Wonderful! that is great to hear 😊
This looks really great and makes a thick sturdy blanket. I'm going to be using this a lot. Thank you!👍
Lovely to hear 😊
This stitch is very simple and beautiful (after a few rows), and I loved the tutorial - good job explaining and a nice, relaxing voice. I’m currently making a baby blanket for my granddaughter (in June). Thank you.
Glad it was helpful😊
I love this stitch. I'm always looking for patterns that have texture and look good in one or multiple colors. I did a sample with 2 colors as I was watching, and I love the effect of the different colors. I have a lot of boys and men in my family, and they want blankets. Fancy, lacy stitches/patterns won't do, but this would make very nice blankets for them. Thanks so much for the stitch and the excellent tutorial. God bless.
Thank you too so glad you like the stitch and can use it for the boys and men in your family. I am in the middle of making a dark grey scarf using this stitch for my son he really feels the cold. God bless and thank you again.
You are an AMAZING teacher. Thank you very much for sharing your video. AMAZING.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment😊
You make it so calm and relaxing 😌

Your “double crochet” is an extended double crochet. Lovely stitch!
Beautiful texture
Thank you😊
This is awesome. Can't wait to try this ❤
I luv that u do a close-up😀 I really luv this pattern too💯💯🥂 I’m going to try this with the chunky yarn to make a blanket👀🙃
That is lovely to hear😊
Very clear tutorial , love it
Thank you😊
Me encanta tu canal porque me enseñas muy despacio y fácil 🤩 y me gusta mucho que grabas más cerca el vídeo y podemos ver muchísimo más fácil
Saludos desde México 💋🤗
Thank you😊
Adorable
I absolutely love the way you described this pattern. Hands down the best tutorial I’ve seen for crochet. Thank you
Thank you for the lovely comment I am so glad you enjoyed the video😊
Very good thanks
God bless🙏🙏🙏
God bless 🙏🙏🙏
Gorgeous, thank you dear!
Thank you🤗
Excellent close ups! Like I'm there.
Thank you 😊
I adore the way you crochet!
Thank you so lovely of you to say that 🤗
You have a very nice voice that is easy to listen to... you could read me Bedtime Stories and I would go to sleep feeling comforted that somebody loves me. It's that kind of voice, like you care more about others than yourself, and that you're one of those lining up on God's right hand. Some ladies screech when they speak or whistle their esses, but I am blessed hearing your voice.
Thank you so much for your lovely, kind comments. 😊

Thank you for the wonderful tutorial, very well explained love the details you added. I have started a baby blanket for my little granddaughter coming soon 💕🌸. Such a beautiful stitch and cozy blanket :)
That's so lovely to hear🤗
Really love this stitch. It lovely and well tutored, Thanks for sharing.
So glad you like it and thank you for your lovely comment.😊
Love this
Thank you😊
Lovely stitch. Does it have a name? I’ve made a baby blanket with this stitch using Aran weight yarn and it turned out beautifully and am currently making another using DK and it looks equally as impressive. Such a versatile stitch. Thank you for sharing and making it so easy to follow.
I've named it the Faux Bobble Stitch, glad you like the stitch and your blanket turned out well 😊
I shall try this one for the oval shape
Lovely, it would be great to hear how you get on. I haven't tried this in any other shape.😊
Love this pattern and your explanation is so easy to follow. My only question is to finish do you do a row of single crochet for the last row?
Yes that's right. Please see this update ruclips.net/video/Pt8Ew_cS_ns/видео.html 😊
Greetings from Essex ( UK ) I have only just found your channel and I'm so glad I did as you have some lovely tutorials that are very easy to follow. Your video equipment is excellent, close-ups and sound are so clear! What a calm, soothing voice you have. I was looking for a textured blanket pattern and this one caught my eye, so I started it immediately in variegated yarn with colours of bright pink, yellow, turquoise, green, and dark purple, it's coming along nicely and I really like this stitch! Looking forward to watching many more of your videos, thank you so much for sharing, best wishes from a new subscriber ☺️
Thank you for your lovely comments, the blanket colours sound beautiful, I am so glad you love the stitch and that it is working well😊
I like the way it was explained. Thank. You. I would like to try this.
Thank you 😊
You have explained it so well that I'm a learner but I can do this stitch with my eyes closed, thank you for your tutorial 👍🙏
So glad you have mastered this stitch well 😊
I've just found your channel and subscribed. I love the simple way you instruct but can barely hear you even with my volume at maximum. Can you speak louder or increase volume on your end? I look forward to more of your tutorials. Thank you.
Thank you for subscribing. Sorry the volume isn't loud enough. I will definitely try to sort this out.😊
@@TiaraLaceCrochet thank you. 💛 I look forward to learning more from your tutorials.
Lovely pattern and fantastic tutorial. I am just wondering how you finish the blanket off?
Thank you 😁
Hi Vikki, thank you. I have done another tutorial for this stitch that may help with your query. This is the link ruclips.net/video/6kjhfankp4Q/видео.html if you just click on that it should take you to the video that explains how to get a nice finish😊
Thank you so much for this lovely tutorial! I'm a beginner but had no trouble following your instructions. I always struggle with identifying the stitches but you made it absolutely clear! Furthermore, the audio and video quality is impeccable!
Thank you so glad you found the video helpful🤗
You're a lifesaver. You make a good teacher.
That was a joy to watch and learn from. Such a pretty pattern, thank you so much 😊
Glad you enjoyed and thank you 🙂
💞
wonder how it would look with chunky yarn
It looks great 😊
I would use a hook one or two sizes larger than that recommended for the chunky yarn...this will help prevent it being too stiff 😊
I was looking at another video when your video started. I became curious and was just mesmerized! I am a beginner and I love to crochet! I watched your video twice and started to make a scarf with this pattern. It will be a Christmas gift for my 82 year old mom who lives in New Jersey, which is colder than in South Carolina (USA), where I live. Thank you so much for your patience in teaching this pattern! I love the way you teach and the smooth, calm nature in your voice. Thank you again!
So lovely to hear, my mum is 86 and loves this stitch. I made her a scarf too to keep out the cold weather where we live in North Wales UK. Happy crocheting and thank you for the lovely comment😊💗
Omg I absolutely LOVE this stitch. Thank you so much for telling us about it. I started making blankets during lockdown and only recently came across your video this is def going to be my go to stitch in future it is beautiful chunky and perfectly straight edges..... many many thanks xx
I love the faux bobble stitch
Would love it for a hat
How would I do this in the round
How would I do this on an increase round
Thank you
I will have a go at doing a hat and let you know 🤗
That would be great!
Thank you!
Hi Jeannine, I have been trying to do this stitch in the round but haven't managed to do increases I have however managed to do a bobble hat incorporating this stitch into the main body of the hat and will post the video soon. It makes a lovely warm hat and I made a wide ribbed edging that folds over so all in all it is super warm....ready for next winter. Best wishes Susan😊
Thank you thank you
I cant wait to try it!
🤗
I absolutely love this stitch! One of the most unique yet easy and beautiful! Love your teaching technique. Not too fast for beginners and not too slow for experienced crocheters like me. Thank you! New subscriber!
Hi, I live in the UK, and was born here and Im pretty sure that is a single and double not double and treblecrochet in the UK but a double iand treble n the USA
You are absolutely correct. I also live in the UK but I have started to use US terminology I am planning to do a video as to why I made the switch from UK terms to US terms soon😊
Thank you! You have a good camera!
Thank you😊
Loved. Tutorial
🥰Wow, reversible!! Love it! Thank you so much!😍
Beautiful pattern. I love your videos!! You are a wonderful teacher!! I recently discovered you and you are my favorite bc you have a soothing voice, zoom in with the camera and go slow making it easy to understand! I love your work!! Thank you so much!!
Thank you1😊
Amazing tutorial and a awesome teacher..so glad I found you.. thank you 🙏
Thank you 😊
What size hook would you suggest for a 4 weight yarn?
The reference chart I have suggests a 5mm or 5.5mm/ H-8/I-9 for a 4 weight yarn. I tend to look at the effect different hook sizes give and then choose. Hope this helps😊
@@TiaraLaceCrochet It does! Thank you so much! 💐
I have been searching for this! So happy to find it. I don't like the back of the bobble stitch and this is just what I wanted! Thank you❤
Your videos are the best. You really take the time to explain and show how to do the pattern. I find I learn better when I can follow along with the instructor. Thanks so much !
Thank you so much 😊
It's looking great except I may be messing up the end of some rows. Should it be bumpy edge or smooth?
Glad it's looking good. The edges can look a bit bumpy due to the chain at the end of the row. To get a neater edge omit the turning chain after the last sc, turn your work, don't have the loop too tight on your hook. Insert your hook into the first sc and do a sc. I will put a video on how to do this. Hope this helps. I often omit the ch I have no idea why I didn't this time.🙄😊
This is such beautiful stitch. I am using Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn in color Ivory with a 6.5 mm hook. It has a beautiful drape to it. My question is, how do you end the blanket? Just a row of single crochet? And what kind of border would you recommend?
Thank you. I find the sc row finishes the blanket off nicely .This border might work well ruclips.net/video/YlBzaE49BhQ/видео.html Best wishes Susan 😊😊
Beautiful blanket, I will make the blanket, for my bed, I have a queen size bed, do you think it will be ok? How many stitches should I start with? Thank you!!
I always find this a difficult question to answer as it depends on your hook size the type of yarn you use and your tension... this video may helpruclips.net/video/sj8RCBN_VSc/видео.html best wishes Susan 😊
Your attention to detail is tremendous. Thank you so much. Love your tutorials 💕🇮🇪☘️💚
Thank you so much😊
I want to make a wedding gift Afghan using this stitch. Using a 8.00mm hook how do I determine the amount of yarn I’ll need to make a large Afghan? Something between a full size and queen size bed throw.
One idea would be to just purchase one skein of the yarn you would like to use for your blanket. Use one complete skein of your chosen yarn to work the blanket then measure the length this gives. If it measures 4" with one skein and your blanket needs to be 80" long you divide 80 by 4 = 20. So you would need 20 skeins.
Hope this helps😊
Best wishes Susan x
wow, very happy to have found you. Your manner is wonderful, each tutorial is taught with a quiet reserve and are easy to follow along with.
Thank you for your lovely comments😊
This looks lovely.. not sure anyone will read this but I was wondering if anyone here may have recommendations for how much of what kind of yarn it would take to make a baby blanket using this pattern.
Hello Suzan, I am in the process of making a baby blanket using this stitch and will let you know when I release the video. Best wishes Susan
What a lovely tutorial. One of the best I have seen. Very easy to follow and understand. Thank you. 🙏🏽 x
Anybody know I can't see if it's a 6 or 8 her thumb blocking it lol. what size hook she is using please
It is an 8mm hook. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you😊
What size yarn and needle did you use?
A chunky yarn 5 weight and an 8mm hook. 😊
@@TiaraLaceCrochet thank you
Love this patternlooks ver nice and easy thankyou xxx
Thank you😊
Beautiful work !! Can you let me know what size hook you used .
Thank you. I used an 8mm hook with a chunky yarn 😊
Whats the number of chrochet for the blanket pls ?
If you have a look at this video it should help as it all depends on the yarn, hook and your tension ruclips.net/video/sj8RCBN_VSc/видео.html hope this helps😊
Could you show a border for a suzzette blanket
Sorry for the late reply. I am working on a border should be ready soon😊
Thank you so much
Here is a link for a border for the Suzette Stitchruclips.net/video/5O-Ne-JT8Ck/видео.html hope you like it. Other than this the crab stitch is also a great border for the Suzette stitch😊
Thank you thank you😊😊😊😊😊😊🎊🌄🎁
I have started this blanket. I wasn't sure I could do it but so far doing good with it. Thanks for sharing and explaining so well.
Thank you ! Your videos have helped me make several cute blankets
Thanks for that video it's an interesting stitch. I have saved that for the future.
Wow
Since lockdown I've learnt how to crochet, (at 63 years young!) and came across your video and love the pattern so much, you have inspired me to have a go. Thank you so much for posting this.
So pleased you are going to have a go. 😊
Same here. I am 65 and am starting crochet. I like this pattern. There are so many out there. Simple will do for me. Keep crochetting :)
I wonder if there's a coincidence in us ladies starting to crochet in our 60's..
Hapoy crocheting.
Take care & stay safe. Xx
Your explanation is crystal clear... I'm gonna try to do this😊
So easy to follow, great explanation and example! Thank you 🙂
But mine doesn't stick out like that.. 🥺
This stitch seems to works best with a chunky yarn and corresponding hook size. Sometimes changing the hook size will help the stitches to stick out better. Hope this helps.
Thank you! 🤗
How many balls of yarn for a baby blanket 34 ins. By 34 ins.?
I would need to know the yarn weight and hook size you plan to use for the blanket. 😊
Your instructions and video are a pleasure! Thanks so very much!
This is a lovely video / tutorial. I'm pleased that you explained both U.S stitches & the English stitches. I don't think I've seen the different ways they are done.
I'm just wondering hiw thick your yarn is & size of hook. Thankyou so much.
Take care & stay safe.
Love from England xx
Thanks so much. The yarn is a chunky pure wool and the hook size is 8mm. I tend to use US terminology more nowadays although I did learn with UK terminology many moons ago😊.
Love and best wishes from Wales🧡
Muito grata pelo maravilhoso trabalho e dedicação ❤
Muito obrigado 😊
Where can I add another color
I will have a go at making a swatch with different colours and post a video, hopefully within the next week.
Ow thank you so much
What size hook ? And can you use 4 ply yarn
yes you can use 4 ply yarn, I would go up a half hook size than that recommended for the yarn. it can work up a little rigid if it does go up a full hook size
Muito lindo! Grata❤
How many chain stitches for a baby blanket using 4 worsted weight and 5 mm or 5.5 mm hook.Or do you have any suggestions for me. Thank you.
I tend to work a small swatch of the pattern starting with a length of chs around 6 inches. I then work a couple of rows of the pattern and measure how many chains I have used over. 3 or 4 inches of the swatch. I tried this with a 4 weight Aran yarn that recommended a 5mm hook. I got 10 stiches over 3inches. I like a smaller baby blanket 24 inches by 30".
To get the number of chs needed for the 24" blanket I did the following calculation:
3inches = 10chs/sts
24inches ÷3 = 8
8 x 10 = 80 chs
This is all approximmate but I hope it gives you some guidance. I am sure there will be different ways to calculate chs needed 😉
I
24 inches÷3=8
It looks like, in US terms, you are doing extended dc stitches and not dc stitches when you grab the yarn loop/bar from the previous row.
It is a regular dc in US terms it just looks extended as it is worked into the bar from the previous row I totally agree it is so similar😊 Thank you for watching.
Thank you another great stitch very easy to follow ☘️☘️
Great teaching, you inspire me to make a blanket like this! Thank you!
I'm so glad I discovered your tutorials!! I love the way you explain and demonstrate the stitches, and you impart a feeling of confidence, which I need! I'm a beginner and will advance my abilities with your videos! Thank you so much!!
That's so nice to hear. Thank you for your lovely comments too😊.
I’m definitely going to use this stitch! Thank you 🥰
Wonderful thanks ❣️. So much better than that boring puff or bobble stitch!
Thank you 😊
I absolutely love this pattern! Is there a way to make the ending of your project match the beginning that you used for the 2nd row? It almost looks as if the bottom (beginnning) has a boarder but the top (ending) does not. I would just like for it to match if possible! Any tips would be great!! Thank you!!
Hi Lauren I agree I need to work on this and as soon I come up with a solution....other than doing an extra row of sc...I will let you know...I will also post a video..Another subscriber asked about the bumpy edges....to eliminate this just omit the turning chain.....you may already know this😉
.
Thankyou so much for this understandable tutorial. Was wondering the brand of wool you are using, please. TIA
It is a chunky pure wool yarn, I haven't got the label 🙁 so can't tell you the make..sorry.
This looks like a chunky yarn . I’m pretty new to crochet so could you tell what size hook and the yarn you have used please xx
With chunky yarn you can use a 6.5mm hook up to a 9mm . In the tutorial I am using an 8mm and for the sample shown at the beginning of the video I may have used a 6.5mm. Yes it is a chunky yarn but definitely not super chunky. I would recommend checking the yarn label to see which hook size is best if it doesn't say just try a few little swatches with a 6.5mm to 8mm and see which you prefer. Hope this helps 😊
I have only just subscribed to your channel today and enjoyed watching all your tutorials. Crocheting was always very difficult for me to do until recently I thought if I really try you never know I might be able to at least make a baby blanket.I have been knitting for ages and find it easy to do.You have some lovely crochet stitch patterns which I think I'll be able to follow if I keep watching all your tutorials again and again.Thank you so much for uploading such amazing tutorials.👍👌😗
That is lovely to hear. I also knit but do far more crochet, my mum is an amazing knitter and we made a knit and crochet blanket ages ago, it is lovely to combine the two.😊
