  • This lovely textured stitch is reversible and is incredibly easy to do. It gives the effect of the bobble stitch but with much less effort. It is an ideal stitch to use for baby blankets, throws, scarves, jackets, wraps etc. After much thought I have decided to call it the ~Faux Bobble Stitch 😊 I have an updated tutorial for this stitch at • EASY TEXTURED STITCH F... that answers a few questions from my subscribers 😉 Hope you enjoy.

    I love this stitch. I'm always looking for patterns that have texture and look good in one or multiple colors. I did a sample with 2 colors as I was watching, and I love the effect of the different colors. I have a lot of boys and men in my family, and they want blankets. Fancy, lacy stitches/patterns won't do, but this would make very nice blankets for them. Thanks so much for the stitch and the excellent tutorial. God bless.

    • @TiaraLaceCrochet
      @TiaraLaceCrochet  3 года назад

      Glad it's looking good. The edges can look a bit bumpy due to the chain at the end of the row. To get a neater edge omit the turning chain after the last sc, turn your work, don't have the loop too tight on your hook. Insert your hook into the first sc and do a sc. I will put a video on how to do this. Hope this helps. I often omit the ch I have no idea why I didn't this time.🙄😊

    I want to make a wedding gift Afghan using this stitch. Using a 8.00mm hook how do I determine the amount of yarn I’ll need to make a large Afghan? Something between a full size and queen size bed throw.

    • @TiaraLaceCrochet
      @TiaraLaceCrochet  2 года назад +1

      One idea would be to just purchase one skein of the yarn you would like to use for your blanket. Use one complete skein of your chosen yarn to work the blanket then measure the length this gives. If it measures 4" with one skein and your blanket needs to be 80" long you divide 80 by 4 = 20. So you would need 20 skeins.
      Hope this helps😊

    What size hook ? And can you use 4 ply yarn

    • @TiaraLaceCrochet
      @TiaraLaceCrochet  2 года назад

      yes you can use 4 ply yarn, I would go up a half hook size than that recommended for the yarn. it can work up a little rigid if it does go up a full hook size

    How many chain stitches for a baby blanket using 4 worsted weight and 5 mm or 5.5 mm hook.Or do you have any suggestions for me. Thank you.

    • @TiaraLaceCrochet
      @TiaraLaceCrochet  3 года назад

      I tend to work a small swatch of the pattern starting with a length of chs around 6 inches. I then work a couple of rows of the pattern and measure how many chains I have used over. 3 or 4 inches of the swatch. I tried this with a 4 weight Aran yarn that recommended a 5mm hook. I got 10 stiches over 3inches. I like a smaller baby blanket 24 inches by 30".
      To get the number of chs needed for the 24" blanket I did the following calculation:
      3inches = 10chs/sts
      24inches ÷3 = 8
      8 x 10 = 80 chs
      This is all approximmate but I hope it gives you some guidance. I am sure there will be different ways to calculate chs needed 😉
      I
      24 inches÷3=8

    It looks like, in US terms, you are doing extended dc stitches and not dc stitches when you grab the yarn loop/bar from the previous row.

    • @TiaraLaceCrochet
      @TiaraLaceCrochet  3 года назад +1

      It is a regular dc in US terms it just looks extended as it is worked into the bar from the previous row I totally agree it is so similar😊 Thank you for watching.

    I absolutely love this pattern! Is there a way to make the ending of your project match the beginning that you used for the 2nd row? It almost looks as if the bottom (beginnning) has a boarder but the top (ending) does not. I would just like for it to match if possible! Any tips would be great!! Thank you!!

      Hi Lauren I agree I need to work on this and as soon I come up with a solution....other than doing an extra row of sc...I will let you know...I will also post a video..Another subscriber asked about the bumpy edges....to eliminate this just omit the turning chain.....you may already know this😉

    Thankyou so much for this understandable tutorial. Was wondering the brand of wool you are using, please. TIA

      It is a chunky pure wool yarn, I haven't got the label 🙁 so can't tell you the make..sorry.

    This looks like a chunky yarn . I’m pretty new to crochet so could you tell what size hook and the yarn you have used please xx

    • @TiaraLaceCrochet
      @TiaraLaceCrochet  3 года назад +1

      With chunky yarn you can use a 6.5mm hook up to a 9mm . In the tutorial I am using an 8mm and for the sample shown at the beginning of the video I may have used a 6.5mm. Yes it is a chunky yarn but definitely not super chunky. I would recommend checking the yarn label to see which hook size is best if it doesn't say just try a few little swatches with a 6.5mm to 8mm and see which you prefer. Hope this helps 😊

    I have only just subscribed to your channel today and enjoyed watching all your tutorials. Crocheting was always very difficult for me to do until recently I thought if I really try you never know I might be able to at least make a baby blanket.I have been knitting for ages and find it easy to do.You have some lovely crochet stitch patterns which I think I'll be able to follow if I keep watching all your tutorials again and again.Thank you so much for uploading such amazing tutorials.👍👌😗

      That is lovely to hear. I also knit but do far more crochet, my mum is an amazing knitter and we made a knit and crochet blanket ages ago, it is lovely to combine the two.😊
