The two refences you mentioned:
For Devil Zoa's summon effect, it's when Keith "accidently" dropped his Devil Zoa from his "hand" during the duel, and proceeded to summon it, baiting Jounoichi into attacking it only to use Metalmorph and counter.
Copycat was indeed how Jounoichi used Metalmorph to transform Red-Eyes in to Red-Eyes Metal Dragon, making it immune to "magic effects", such as Keith's Revolver Dragon since as per the DND nature of Duelist Kingdom, Machine monsters were immune to magic.
The double take I did when I saw what looked like a new Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon on the thumbnail...
Kinda bummed they didnt keep the "Special Summon from deck" effect.
Joey used Copycat to copy Metalmorph. In the anime/manga, Copycat was *completely busted*: it could replicate any monster spell or trap card the opponent had on their field or grave.
Later on in the same duel he used Grave Robber to steal Time Machine.

Also bystials tribute and are easy dragon bodys to get to the field. Just add some lv4 tuners like white woods or something.
Shame this strategy has like no synergy with the other Keith cards like Heavy Metal Raiders
Also Labyrinth wouldn't mind a possible double pop, it's just they would need to Tribute either of the Ladies, Archfiend, or Butler.

Just by playing any number of red eyes metal dragon and any number of enchanted metalmorph you have an engine that turns any bystial or phantazmay into an Omni negate
Well, they did not straight up replace Metalmorph, but the OG Metal counterparts were.
Also, hope we could somehow get more Metal counterparts, besides Heavy Metal King..
Can it even brick with how the bigger monsters can just return itself to deck to search the metalmorph? This to me sounds like a theoretically better assault mode deck, though with the exception that this has no spell that cheat out the metalmorph the same way assault mode has.
Well, I guess if we draw all the metalmorph trap without anything to use it on...
The spell card can search the Metal Copycat you need for Tribute
Which also searches new Metamorph
@@Hanmacx what I mean by 'spell that cheat out the metalmorph' is a simple in-archetype card that could access the bigger monsters without having to wait on the trap card innate weakness of having to be set and can only be activated the next turn. Assault-mode technically have one spell that summon assault mode monster from the hands.

its actually a sick af egine design. the redeyes and zoa dont brick. you can run any amount of them from 2 to 9 to splash. and you can use a spent interaction to go into the bosses.
Anime reference: Keith summoned Zoa in defense, “accidentally” showing the card to Joey to goad him into summoning a magic-using monster to attack it. At which point he flipped metal morph and reflected the monster’s magic attack.
About time we got good Red Eyes support. Looks like Konami is focusing more on giving Red Eyes a burn strategy. I’m all for it. Justice for Jonouichi Katsuya.

It's not like Red-eyes locks you into Dragons or anything. You can run it in that deck just fine, especially since it's searchable with Black Metal Dragon

@@agungxs9715red-eyes has had a machine card for about 20 years or more... and as for zombie dont think of it as part of the red-eyes theme it is by archetype sure but not theme. It's like saying the zombie felgrand is a dragon support card or zombie summoned skull is summoned skull. It is just monsters that have died or part of the zombie world lore

Yeah, he used Copycat to copy “Magic Metal Force” also known as Metalmorph, basically it and doppelgänger were ‘copy any card your opponent played this duel’ cards.
Also, Red-Eye’s attack being 3400 here is due to it being Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon equipped with Dragon Nails (which is a legal play in the game due to being able to equip to any Dark Monster.)
Yes it copies summon skull too plus grave robber to polymerization (vice versa if I'm wrong) to fuse B skull dragon
Now I have to splash a copy of metalmorph and red-eyes into my tachyon + light and darkness dragon deck.
I legit had to do a double take when I saw it because no way did METALMORPH get a new line of support.

For theming, I’m running this with Red-Eyes. And since I’m playing Vanillas, I can slap in the new Primoredial cards too. This can be really stupid, but it’ll be hella fun.
Unironically, it seems like red-eyes with a small Kash package, primoredial engine and now this looks pretty solid all together

I was among the first to see this announced in the Yu-Gi-Oh subReddit. Seeing Red-eyes Metal Black Dragon seemingly get a retrain got me excited, then I read the effect and saw it's actually usable in Red-eyes. I was real overjoyed
Regardless of anything, it's not an arquetype and it's more of a tiny engine that would mix with any deck that uses high level fiends or dragons, you know what that means?

I really like this Metalmorph theme, but I find so strange that Zoa was retrained and REBD wasn't, leaving the Metalmorph theme without a proper Level 5 Dragon monster to summon Fullmetal, especially when we've had retrains of Dark Magician and Blue-Eyes White Dragon in previous sets
Metalmorph retrains LET'S GO! Bizarrely cracked trap for it's time and the metallicized forms were a cool concept even if they were almost objectively worse to summon than just keeping their base vanilla w/ Metalmorph equipped, I always thought it was a shame they barely touched them. We got REDMD and REFMD which are good, and Black metal Dragon was a loose reference that imo should call itself "Metalmorph" while equipped just to enable REBMD, but it was always a bit of a shame it never expanded beyond Red-Eyes support.
It's nice to see and these look pretty cool. Red-Eyes Black Full Metal -Alchemist- Dragon having "Dragon Nails" visible in the art and the stat line to match is a nice touch but if the name changes with the official English release it will be a major blow imo. My old decrepit creature self somewhat would've liked the "legacy support" version that works with the OG metal forms but it's not a terrible loss. It's cool that Enhanced tributes a monster and equips to the metallicized form, that's probably closer to how the anime/mange version worked. I was imagining a retrain that counts as "Metalmorph" on the field and a grave effect which grants the effect protection to monsters that mention "Metalmorph" in their effect text but but I didn't really expect that to happen, this is more than I thought we'd get frankly.
My only complaint of sorts is that it's so "safe" in it's nostalgia and isn't actually fleshing out the Metalmorph concept much (yet), which tbf is pretty standard practise but it's a shame since Metalmorph as an idea has a lot of room to work with. We have some nice retrains of the only two existing metalmorphed monsters, a retrain of the less popular associated vanilla, and some support spell/traps with art that feature those two monsters. Strictly speaking we currently still only have 2 metalmorphed monsters, however the loosening of requirements to "Level 5 or higher [Type]" as tribute rather than a specific named monster paves the may for future support giving us metalmorphed insects/ fish/ beasts etc.
The way the story handled it gave the implication that Metalmorph was a card you could use on any non-machine to make it a machine and give it a power boost, much like how in-story Toon World turned regular monsters into Toons and was not limited to specifically printed Toon monsters, and it's just that we only got to see in in one duel where it was used twice so we only had the two in-story examples. I've been hoping for some years now that some day we'll see it used with other monsters, like a Perfectly Ultimate Metal Moth or Harpie's Pet Metal Dragon, or even something that isn't DM era.
I really liked it and they seem to be minimally balanced, in their own archetype. I'm just worried about how players will use them.

You can still slot this in Red-eyes if you like. It's not like that deck locks you into Dragons or anything. Heck, I recommend it, given it's an Omni-negate that burns

Isn’t ascended of thunder just a better free 7 then the new Zoa? Kashtira doesn’t care about his normal summon effect, since they get that anyway with Birth.

@@casually_lurking oh sorry for making you upset ok it just a random thoughts and besides the kashtira won’t be using this deck if you’re looking for a side deck option I suggest dark hole and the trap that destroys all monsters when a monster is summon because our monster already can’t be destroyed by card effects so it pretty much a board wipe and isn’t there a spell that allows you to special summon level 1 monster i am really bad at remembering names
@giaphucnguyenphan Look, I'm just saying it because it's true. Branded buckled like a dozen strategies and is still going to claim more before it phases out OR gets more support to string it along. Konami won't ban the meta, but they WILL break it's toys; this engine will end up like Ishizu regardless once it's conscripted- more than likely. However, it'd be great if vintage support that helped match newer play/ insulate against it didn't get ganked is all.

The anime reference is that, and paraphrasing here, metalmorph is a special anti magic alloy that is ineffective by time
you’re half right. I’m going by what i remember in the anime dub: Bandit Keith says all (his) machines are resistent to magic-based attacks. He didnt say it was time resistent (thats jinzo later on). In fact time was a vulnerablity as his machines can rust and weaken. Thats why Keith has Time Machine to bring back his monster the way it was one turn prior (no rust and no atk alteration) and Joey will use that against him in the end.

White Woods has access to Fiendsmith combos and an omni negate.
I can think of plenty of characters with decks in desperate need of support/retrains (Cyrus, Leo, Luna, lot of blue hairs, weird coincidence), but since Konami seems set on revisiting every DM character, I'm looking forward to Duke Devlin.
I'm hoping they'll lean into his dice roll gimmick, but use cards that are already good with rolls making them great to excellent. I'm thinking effects that stack, so if you roll a 6 on a D6, you can get all 6 effects.
And don't even pretend like this would be too powerful. We've got so many flavors of hand traps we're making Baskin Robin's jealous. We have boss monsters with near total immunity, omni-negates, and the ability to rizz out local cougars. If I have to rely on a literal roll of the dice for an effect, then even the weakest rolls should still be strong and fun.
If anything they will make support for Barrell Dragon and Slot Machine to be splashable with this.
Honestly, missed Opportunity to give the new Hand Effects the ability to shuffle themselves OR the old "Can be summoned from Deck" Metamorphs. And the Traps not also targetting the old Monsters instead of just the Enhanced version.
If the Former were added it would allow you to unbrick if you drew the old Metal Mons. And the second would make them searchable and targets for the Summon of Enhanced Metalmorph.

So, weirdly in fringe cases the older stuff wins me matches- more often than expected. Thunder Draon (Armed) with like one of each origional sometimes just makes old school level 7 or 10 and board wipes 'til they bust- the interaction was exhausted prior to this.
Maybe the old Metalmorph stuff will do the same; at the very least named targets or fodder interactions are possible.

I think what we are seeing here is Maximus / Alba Zoa, after being defeated and barely surviving, he uses the scraps leftover in the golganda desert to build an armor for himself, becoming Metal Zoa, and Fiendish Beast Zoa is him inside the armor, what his body has become after his many transformations, his attempt to return to his human form is unsuccessful, and he is left as a fiendish monstrosity.
I dont know how red eyes plays into it, maybe it is one of Albaz's forms, or perhaps a dragon Aluber has found in the abyss and outfitted with metal after getting defeated by Sargas and Shuraig and deciding "I should use armor too".
Or maybe an abyss corrupted version of the twin headed baby chair remains?
Its retrains from monsters used by Joey and Bandit keith in the Duelist Kingdom Arc during their Duel in pegasus' Castle. Would have been cool to See Cyber Maximus, or RE linked to the albaz Lore tho.
