    Wow!!! I was considering the same project . . . right down to getting an extra mounting plate so that the table could be used outside. Thanks so much for doing the leg work for the rest of us!

      After some placement testing, the issue I have currently with the outside mount is that if the plate is mounted high enough for the table to clear the countertop, the frame of the screen door hits it. You can push the frame slightly to get past it, but that feels clunky to me. Because the screen follows the contour of the van, at the bottom of the cabinet the space is wider and the plate can go down there - however, because of that overhang on the arm, it limits the table to extending into the door opening. The table can be rotated within the door opening (which is sort of helpful), but can't be positioned outside the van. I'm still noodling on this one. :)

      Would it be possible to place the mount on the front face of the cabinet? Also, Marine Teak (www.marineteak.co.uk) makes teak tables for the Lagun Mount.

    Thanks for another informative video. I think the Lagun mounting system is a great add to a B van, or any RV for that matter. I like the versatility, and it's really helpful to see someone do/use it in their RV.

      Thanks, Ryan. There aren't enough locations in the Aktiv to use it easily anywhere else, but I'm happy with how the lounge replacement turned out.

    Great minds think along the same paths! I have two of those tops, I purchased for the same purpose. I have an off road cargo trailer, I’m going to modify into a Camp / OHV hauler.

    Thank you, you got a good deal! I found them for $39.99 plus $31.99 shipping. Pretty steep for what it is. I may just use some laminated wood I already have.

      I ended up replacing it a couple months ago with a wood top for a Husky toolbox. $20 at Home Depot and it works great!

    Much effort and money for a dual-cup-holder...:-)

      Lol…I ended up swapping that top for just a solid wood top. It worked out much better.

    It would be beneficial to narrate as you do each step instead of the lengthy explanation beforehand. It would all make more sense and be quicker. Thank you for sharing!

      I’ve thought of that, but have chosen to stick more with concepts rather than step by step tutorials for a number of reasons. As a compromise, I provide one on one Q&A or in person assistance. I may revisit this depending on the upgrade though. Thanks! :)

    Great video Morrie! I saw the Lagun mount a few months ago when the 2019 Pleasure Way model changes were first reported, and saw it on a Lexor nearby a few weeks ago. Very nice upgrade so interesting to see how you adapted it to the Aktiv. Still shopping for my first RV and the Aktiv is high on the short list, so would also be interested in your thoughts on the cassette toilet from an every day usage perspective, specifically; where are you dumping and how are you handling the gray tank dumping. Was this a plus or minus from your perspective versus tranditional black tank? Have sub'ed and watched all your videos but don't believe you've commented on this, has your actual experience since purchasing changed your view? Looking forward to future videos!

      Glad you liked it! I'm a fan of the Lagun mount, especially over the stock table. There is a small chance that I'll find a machine shop to shorten the vertical support by about 6 inches, to bring the clamp up closer to the wall mount.
      I think the cassette toilet is a fantastic compromise. What I like about it, is the ability to empty at any rest stop, vault toilet, or porta-john instead of tracking down a dump station and possibly having to pay for the use. I've adopted the policy of the Russo's, in that no solids go in it, but I do know owners who use it for all purposes without any issues. I am not a heavy water user, so I've dumped my gray tank in my own sewer access at home - mainly because I haven't been on the road long enough for it to be an issue.
      As to your last question - my opinion hasn't really changed. I think the Hymer layout, chassis and overall functionality is perfect for how I use it. Sure, there are a number of things that I wish had been done differently or given a little more attention, but I think that would be the case with any van build or RV.

    That looks great! Are all of the handles reversible? Where I want to mount mine, the handle for the mounting plate would need to be reversed.

      The horizontal arm can be installed with the clamp handles on either side, you’d just turn it 180 degrees. I had manually switched sides for one of them, so that one handle is on each side, but it wasn’t really necessary. In my application it was more of an aesthetic decision to do it that way, but you could just turn the bar around and get the same effect, unless you needed the handles to be on opposite sides.

    good video, how secure is the locking mechanism, could you safely drive with the table locked in position or do you have to stow it?

    • @TravelingSolo
      @TravelingSolo  4 года назад +1

      Each point uses a clamping action, so it’s very secure. I’ve had it up since I installed it. :)

    What is the wood for that is on the seat at 8:00 minutes? I ordered the mount and only received that piece, the metal packet, four screws and four nuts and washers, and the two thin wedges. Did you make the thick piece yourself? I expected to receive that with my order of the wood mounting option.

    • @TravelingSolo
      @TravelingSolo  4 года назад +1

      That’s part of the extended base mount kit. You could make one if you wanted to but this one includes the longer bolts to match:

      I went to take a look... just to clarify, the wood near the tape is the one I linked to above. The larger but thinner piece came with the additional mount kit. I did not use this one, it would go behind the wall for additional support.

      TravelingSolo It if you did not use the thicker block of wood, I would be happy to have you send it to me and send you a check. I have an airstream. Lagun has no idea what I am talking about. They sent me their entire parts list and it is not listed on there. I suppose I could just go to Home Depot and make one because I think you actually used the thicker block of wood and then put your extender washers on there.

    • @TravelingSolo
      @TravelingSolo  4 года назад +1

      No, it’s the thinner piece that I didn’t use. Normally it would go behind the wall to give it some extra bracing but it was too difficult to open the wall up... so that’s why I went through it instead.

    Where did you purchase the table? What does a table like that cost approximately? Thank you

    • @TravelingSolo
      @TravelingSolo  5 лет назад

      I bought the top on eBay as a scratch and dent, so I paid $60 after shipping. It was almost perfect though, but I think “new” ones are about twice that. You can search for “marine table top” and find them.

    considering its your only table top you can sit at, that top looks too small to me. not sharing any meals with anyone on that thing.

      The Aktiv came with a larger table, but that was also a questionable decision as it was heavy and clunky to use. A number of owners have gone the way of my replacement table. I didn’t need the extra space but the final version ended up being very functional. Thanks for watching!
