  • We've received a lot of comments regarding the table we built in our camper van. So, we've finally put together a video which explains how it works, and exactly how we built it. If you have any questions, please let us know!

Thee most UNDERsold thing i have ever seen on YT. You Cannot improve that idea, in terms of functions. Soo well thought through. YOU SIR, KICK ASS!

Nice and simple. Great! One possible improvement: a bicycle seat locking device to adjust height.

Good video and project! The parts are easy, the challenge is locating the leg. A lot of videos show the mistakes (and holes) people make while they experiment and try to figure out the location because of how it moves. People have to do this part slowly, figure where they will sit, if it needs to swing in a circle or not, where it rests, what it hits on the way, etc.

Costs a bit more now for the parts in 2022 ($74) but still way less then a Lagun table. I did end up using 1" pipe as it was the only way to find all parts that would fit together at least at one store. Seems quite sturdy enough but my table top is a little smaller, too. Easy to assemble and works great! Thanks all these years later :)

I am 72 sold land, pond, house and headaches like weedeating, mowing, taxes, water and electric bills. I purchased a used RV and moved to a park where water..electricity are included in monthly rent!! I live alone and removed the built in dining table bed combo and crappy fold out couch. Took out the built in bed and turned that room into closet-laundry. The only problem "WAS" my dining table. But your video has put the finishing touch I needed to complete my retirement home! I looked at all the options, but if RV, camper are mentioned when shopping the cost is increased. Your design is great and cost effective. The options I looked at for manufactured devices would have needed altering to fit my needs..dining and bed side table combo.. Your video is the best I have seen as I use utube for all my info on the projects or repairs I tackle! THANK YOU... If any one is considering full time RV life at a permanent address, I would do what I can to help.

I was thinking of a way to improve your design. Don't get me wrong, it is amazing, but imagine if you could leave the foot in place.
If you drill a horizontal hole in the bottom of the ABS pipe, about 5 inches from the bottom with a diameter of a pin/screw.
This way, if you pull the pin out, the leg would drop lower than the bed height and can stay in place. Lift it up, insert the pin and you can use it as you currently do.

Thanks for this comment. I was trying to figure out how not to allow mine to swivel while I’m traveling or just not wanting it to move. I will just insert a hole through all of it and put like a cotter pin.

Very clever design and thoughtful execution. In the end, simple perfection.
I think that a huge benefit is that you can leave it installed by rotating it over the seat at night and the bed during the day.

Was so happy to find this video. I did this using your youtube video. I took the old table out from my bench seat area which had legs that were a trip hazard, but didn't want to lose the bed platform. So, I made a table top with the pipe function you showed to be my rotating table and then cut another piece to fill in the back side that could be used to make it more of a booth concept (sitting in back and on sides). This back piece also can serve as a place to put like your phone or purse or something if there are only 1-2 people in the camper. The rotating table top can be unscrewed from the pipe and then I can completely remove the pipe and put it under the seat. The table top then slides onto the two supports on the bench seats and then the extra cushion along with a cushion made for the back piece are put in place to still make a bed. Genius. Thanks for sharing your build. In addition, I added a hole all the way through my pipe and the PVC holder at the bottom of the pipe so I could put a cotter type pin through it to stop it from rotating while travelling on road.

Hi again. Ray here. I have finally finished my swing-out table. It works perfectly. The difference with mine is that it is in my little trailer. I had very little room to maneuver. Perhaps less than you have in the van. I had to put it further out as our bed is a Queen size convertible to a smaller bed with seats on each side. The only problem I had is that I had to use PVC for the upright, and I couldn't find screws that fit properly. I had to use #14 X 1" and grind the tip off so it wouldn't go through the formica table top. #16 X 3/4" screws would be perfect. But after all that I have finally finished. I love it. Thank you so much for sharing this for us.
