I guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a method to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid forgot the login password. I love any tricks you can offer me!
@Kian Fabian I really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I like your van but I went on the company site and learned more about it and found I wasn't as excited when I finished my research. Like you pointed out in this video, I found a number of things I would change to suit my personal needs. I have owned 1 class A 2 5th wheels and now a tow behind travel trailer.. I .bought this rig used. It was a 2016 and I bought it in 2017. I have already made some heavy changes in its setup inside. Nothing that I can't return to origonal function should I decide to sell it. ( I am seriously contemplating a van in 2 years. My wife passed away in early 2000 and 4 yrs later I sold my home and land, got rid of much of my possessions, bought a 5th wheel and headed to Florida. I am now on Social Security and recieve a nice disability check from the VA so steady income each month. I also have all my medical for free through the VA where ever I happen to be. Right now it is Tampa. Your video's are very informative and you present your topics well.. Thank you Bruce
I dream of this life so bad I watch your channel all day and just love seeing your van. My fav is when we get to see the whole thing , it gives me ideas so one day this could be me, all in good time! Love to watch! You make it real and you make it fun 😊❤️💞
Your screen track is recessed so you can spray silicone lube in that area. One quick spray along the recessed track and wipe off any excess that may have gotten on the outer frame if any. It will make a world of difference. Plus dirt doesn't stick to silicone spray like it does to oil based lubes. Hint: Don't by the Liquid Wrench brand silicone spray if you try this. It has a really strong smell that sticks around. You may be able to just spray the nylon guide foot that runs in the track and than running the door open and closed a few times to work the lube in. Than repeat if needed.
@@storychasing Silicone spray will actually repell dirt once it dries and leaves no residue. You'll need to reapply it every so often with a touch up and that will keep it working smoothly. I worked for a home builder for years doing the final punch lists. Silicone spray was used on everything from sticky drawer guides to tight window sashes, sliding doors and screens, ect. It was a life saver.
it will work great i just put some silicone spray on my power window seals or frame and it sped up the window speed by making it glide through the frame better ( smooth as butter )
@@theShamrockShepherdWagon Hi Sue. The GUNK brand silicone spray works fine and the smell doesn't linger anything like the Liquid Wrench brand. Still allow it to air out for a couple of hours after spraying and all that will remain is the slight residue of the actual silicone itself. I haven't tried any of the other brands besides the two but I see some now have Teflon added. That would work really well but I can't speak for the smell they may have. Good Luck!
Finally, an in-depth and honest review of the Akitv. What I appreciate about your review is that it is coming from someone who actually lives in it full time, not someone who just went to the dealership or RV show and jotted down some notes. I hear that Hymer will be coming out with an Aktiv on the MB Sprinter chasse soon, they call it the Grand Canyon in Europe. This will increase the approach and breakover angles of the camper. I believe there are some after market skid plates you can buy for the undermount alternator? Yes, you are right, the drawer fridge is the way to go. I would also like to see it mounted higher, not sure if that's realistic? I wish the Truma Combi ran off of diesel or gas instead of propane. That propane tank under the camper looks hazardously low, looks like its already taken a hit or two? The RUclips vloggers "TheFitRV" have a video on a really great screen they had installed in their Promaster, check it out! The shower head should be replaced for sure, good call. I wonder about how secure the European style polycarbonate Seitz windows are? Most campers over there use them so I guess they can't be that bad? Didn't know about the 12v plugs not working all the time, wonder if there is a way to rewire? Love the shades! I hope the folks at Hymer watch this video! Safe travels!
@Nitram Midnite Thank you kindly for your comments! Yes I saw that too on the new MB coming out in 2019. I've even seen some pics inside. It looks very interesting. There are some smaller differences but it looks the same in some areas. UGH...I hate propane. I'd love to take that thing off. I don't even use my propane stove. Ok so you saw it too, the hit. I didn't do that, which means somebody who drove or off loaded it from the truck hit something. I never even noticed it. When you look at it from above, it doesn't look banged up like that. oh, good to know on the FitRV screen I'll check it out. I love their channel too. So far no issues with the Seitz windows. I really like it actually. Have you had issues with it before? I hope Hymer watches too! lol
This was a great review! Credible because you actually lived in it, and are not a sales person. Love the logical way you explained each item. Thank you for the great insights into generator placement (disaster waiting to happen), and the propane nozzle (major oops for US market). With regard to screen door, similar problem faced by The Fit RV folks. He replaced the screen with a cheap Amazon mosquito screen which you can attach with velcro and magnets. Its a walk thru type flap, and very effective. No more pulling, just walk through and it closes like the Red Sea behind Moses. Spare tire - No, you need to put that back on asap! I took mine off, noting that RV was 100 lbs lighter. On Interstate 5, at 110F heat one rear tire blew out. Because I did not see it immediately, the second one blew out too (dually) on same side!!! I pulled over to shoulder and was 6 inches from freeway trucks and cars in the middle of nowhere. Called for police escort. Called AAA. They had no landau to tow my RV (since rear tires were shot), and I had to call numerous places to find out who had tires my size, and finally got someone to come after 5 hrs of waiting and 100F inside the RV. Cost me $1000. When I got to my destination, I had all 7 tires changed and got my spare back. No more chances. Lost a whole day and was miserably hot with my dog due to missing spare tire. Please keep that tire on! Little things like that can mount up to a perfect storm. Its the little things. Lots of them at the same time.
Amazing comprehensive video... It truly has a lot of incredibly valuable information not just about the Hymer but about the subject in general... Great job!!!
We have the same Hymer Aktiv 1.0 , 2018 and have been using it for a year now and my wife and I love it. We also have the extra twin bed for the front for our kids to sleep. It our shower ours came with the faucet that has the on/off button? Not sure why your RV didn’t? Also just a side note I found after driving to our location the LP Gas bleeding port was leaking, and all you have to do is hand tighten it. So now I’m always checking that so I don’t loose any of our LP Gas ect. I have also found that the spare tire on the back is setting off the bumper sensors and we are off and on getting a caution fault on the Dodge dashboard ect. Also I wish Hymer would put a switch to turn off the buzzer on the Dodge to turn it off so, when boon docking and the volt start , starts the engine it won’t wake up the people sleeping in the front , and with all the display lights that come on. Thanks for all your videos and take care.
Philip Tarnaski thank you for your comments they are extremely helpful. I’m very very seriously considering the Hymer Activ 1.0 as early as March 2019. Any further info that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
I like that van. Especially the turning front seats, I consider that your living room. I would prefer a small class C because I want and I think I need the extra living space and want a little bit more creature comforts. I love your class B and wish I was brave enough to do what you do. You go girl! I love it!
Great review from a real user rather than Neil B. (a van reviewer) who does his best but just visits them (doesn’t live in). I really appreciate hearing what you DIDN’T like. Knowing those beforehand is helpful. Thank you and best wishes in your continued safe VanLife.
I know I can't be as stealthy with a class c RV, which I'm getting soon to live in, but it really does come down to personal situation and cost. Sprinter van conversion Van's aren't cheap so it seems the smaller the camper, the more expensive. Mine is 25k and I've seen class A's going for 19k meanwhile. I'm sacrificing stealth for saving money and in a class c, you still can park in urban places as long as it isn't downtown parking. I also have a dog so I need the space and I like being clean so I need a good shower (I did the gym showering when living in a car but it means ALWAYS having to travel for it and using gas to get to it then rushing to work versus having it in the vehicle). I found my middle ground and I'm sure I'll be fine so everyone watching this just needs to find theirs based on needs and location.
Hi there, I’m new here and Yes 😆😆😆 “I like that Van” My hubby and I are thinking to get one and your review of this make and style of van was very very helpful.. Much love ❤️ from pollysworld 🤝🤝🤝
I like that van. Your comments were the same feelings I had after you showed them. I hope you'll send your kudos and concerns to Hymer. Maybe they'll listen. Some of their choices seemed like they had never seen any other van on earth before they built theirs, especially in the bathroom/shower area. Good video.
Phillip Allen Thank you and I appreciate you watching and liking the video! I actually am sending both pros and cons to Hymer here soon. Hymer actually reached out to some of us who own Hymers and requested that info which I think is awesome!
The Hymer looks very comfortable, good review on pros and cons. We had a cassette toilet in a Jayco slide-in popup camper and now a conventional toilet with a black water tank in our Itasca Spirit 25B which we like better because of much more capacity and not having to carry anything but the hose and a pair of gloves to dump.
Another good video. I can fully understand the complaints you have about your van. I think if more women were involved in planning the types of bath sinks and showers to put in a van or camper these problems would take care of themselves. The fridge door....really? I can see why that's a little irritating. It's almost like no one tests out the prototypes before they build tons of them. I've been online looking at all kinds of campers for a while now and I find it amazing how little storage most of them provide. No outlets in the bathroom for a hairdryer. No outlets around the stove and sink area to plug in a coffee pot. No place to store towels or washcloths in the bathroom or soap in a bathroom shower. I completely understand that there's only so much room to work with. I was checking out a 21" pull-behind Ember brand yesterday online. They are made by the granddaughter of the Jayco campers. It was loaded with storage and she even fit a tiny pantry closet in the kitchen area as well as an overhead cabinet (which they all have) and drawers in the base of the sink cabinet. I guess it surprises me that these types of issues are even a problem any longer with soooo many people living full and part-time on the road. Take care. Can't wait for your next video. I know many that I am trying to get caught up on were done long ago. But I'm trying to catch up. Stay safe.
I went to an RV show last year. I found the seats were really comfortable but the table needs to be more stable. I sat there about 2 hours and talked to the dealer people. I like the cassette toilet, not crazy about the shower. Bed area with lots of storage is nice. Agree with you almost all. Don't like the exposed bottom. wish they enclosed them, heated water tank would be nice. That underhood generator location is pretty bad. I like travato 59KL too but hymer aktive definitely has more advantages. Thank you for the video!
pure living Thank you so much and glad you enjoyed my videos. 😌🙏Yeah the table wasn't stable when I drove. I had them fix it before I took possession. Now it's not an issue, but not the best design. Yeah...I hope Hymer is listening and makes some changes.
Excellent video and very informative. I wish RV dealer videos would show the possible cons or inconveniences of their models before you buy (that will never happen). Also, can you remove the propane tank and install more lithium batteries and induction stove in your Hymer? Thanks
Hey girl! What a sweet sweet video! I'm in the early learning time and this is taught me a lot. It's always great to see a review by someone that knows what they're talking about, who is very articulate, very knowledgeable, and as outgoing As You Are! Have a great day and stay safe out there, come to the Greenville South Carolina area sometime! :-)
The makers of Hymer Aktiv would have ZERO problème making the changes you suggested. It's ONLY a matter of willingness. IF they are smart, they will listen to their customer feedback! Again, IF they are smart. Time will tell.
Hi Amber, i enjoyed your video and i agree, some of those points would annoy me too. I don't know if its possible but maybe a remote filler valve for the gas tank? for your screen door you might try rubbing a wax candle along the lower track. Stay safe and keep up the good work.
Hi Amber: I liked your video, especially because I own a Winnebago class B, Trovato 59G. The layout is very similar. Winnebago has eliminated The spare tire entirely (that space is now used by the Onan generator). They have included a emergency kit, and I can't remember exactly what's in it. It basically gives you the ability to pump air and sealant into a tire to get going again, unless of course you have a blowout, but it also has automatic remote tire pressure sensing so a blowout should be a very remote possibility. Regarding your screen door sticking, try a little Johnson's paste wax where any track surfaces rub with the screen traveler. Wipe it on wipe it off. I do woodworking and it's amazing how well a little wax works. You can get a tin of Johnson's paste wax at home depot for less than $10, and it'll last for years. HAPPY CAMPING!
George Kane oh see...I had a Winnebago before too, but a Class C and no spare tire. Did you add one with a swing away arm? Oh interesting on the screen door. I'm going to try that. Thanks for the tip!!
I bought my Class C to live in full time about 3 months ago. I really wanted a Class B, but caved to family who thought the whole idea was bonkers, lol. While my Class C is beautiful, I should have stuck to my guns. Oh well, it just means I'm still hunting for my perfect home, and thats kind of fun too😊 Thanks for your wonderful videos!
Just the slightest spritz of a silicone based lubricant on that screen door track, will have that door sliding effortlessly in a second. Also, changing that shower head to a valved model would be a piece of cake, even if hose replacement is also necessary. That's a sweet rig, those low hanging devices are definitely something they should rethink. That generator is especially vulnerable. Just discovered your channel, really enjoying it so far, obviously there's a bunch of videos for me to catch up on!
Before you modify anything on the outside of your vehicle, you may want to get in touch with the company that you purchased it from and check if it would still be under warranty if you do those things, and then tell them or show them this video of the changes you suggest. Because they can't make any changes to their product if they don't get the feed back from people that drive it! You do have a nice rig though! I hope you have put a replacement fund way in an account you can easily get at a moments notice, just in case you need to replace it in some year in the future. And have a nest egg for you to live of off, then you're set, dang wish it were me, that would be great, but wish you all the best and see this beautiful country. Happy and safe travels.
Story Chasing thank you for your attention to detail. You and those who have shared or commented have been a tremendous help. I’m almost certain that I’m going to get a Hymer Activ 1.0 in March or November 2019 (at the latest). I will be able to use much of this info to negotiate a better price or get the dealer to install things like the swing away for the spare and a modification on the propane tank. Safe travels to you and all of your followers.
I love the van and i believe i could definitely overlook those few cons to live in it just as you do. There is no perfect van until someone invents something that can fold out and be larger like a children’s transformer toy when parked . Maybe someday in the future.there will be low roof van that has hydraulics to make a high top when parked. That way you could drive into all city parking garages
great informative video, thanks for sharing. to gain more ground clearance get a bit bigger tires, 235 or 245 over the 225. AND go to Sumo Springs, though it looks like you have sumo springs listed in the credits. you can gain over an inch more clearance with these. this coach seems cheaply built. And not well thought out. the refrigerator is ridiculous. so is the shower. those windows though are fantastic. vent is great too.
Kerry Shrode Thank you so much and glad you enjoyed my videos. 😌🙏 Thanks for the recommendations. I did install the sumo spring bumpstops several months ago so that gave about a 1 inch lift and helped the sway. I switched out the tires but it's still 225 all terrains. The problem with the bigger tires is it's a very tight fit with larger tires and some Hymer owners had to "modify" that area to accommodate larger tires. I'm not sure I want to hack away at my wheel well just yet. :) Most everything is great, but some stuff is definitely cheap.
I like that van! Thank you for the in depth review, both pro and con! This will probably be my birthday present to myself early next year so it’s good to have as much info as possible!
The Calvin Chronicles nice ..."I like that van" and another one who wants to join. That's going to be quite the birthday present to yourself! You're so welcome on the video.
I am still leaning to CLASS C due to space and width but HYMER is nice where lithium battery and keeping cool for pets. Will have to research more and decide once home is sold. As always, very informative....Thanks so much!
Pamela Quesnel Glad you enjoyed Pamela. Oh yes the class c will have much more room and storage, but you have to decide if space is worth what you'll lose - not being as nimble and possibly having a tow car. That's what I was dealing with and decided to go for the Hymer instead.
Do you not feel funny taking your entire home with you to run a quick errand? What about if you were picking someone up for a date? 😊 Still no problem?
That Guy Nope it's actually nice. As soon as I get out of the grocery it goes straight into the van and stowed away in cabinets and fridge. I take a nap where ever I want, I can grab a jacket or something I might have forgotten quickly because my house is with me. As for picking up a date.....welll...I travel full-time. It's kind of hard to date unless it's somebody in the RVing community and if I were to date, I'd meet them somewhere. If you're going to be more stationary and live in your van than you might get the weird, "guy living in a van down by the river" comments, but if you spin it in away that doesn't seem sleezy you'll be find. Or else UBER there. hahahaa
Thanks I considered on buying one of these but that's a real deal breaker for me the propane tank and I'm up front generator under the front bumper who would design something like that I hope they change it
I really appreciate your review on the Activ. I never did care for that bathroom sink either and never thought of so many other things that you mentioned. If the price is right, no deal breakers for me either. Thank you for this video (and all videos) and your honesty. Also loved the one on the cassette toilet. Not affraid to use it now :) As long as the camper/van has a toilet and a sink of some sort (kitchen) I'm happy. I loved your solution to the fridge also. Happy trails. Stay safe
Very nice review. But I would like to comment on your issue with the USB port. In the video it appears that you have plugged you phone charger into the 110 plug which would require the inverter to be turned on. I think you should unplug you cable from the back of the charger and plug it into the USB slot and then you should not need the inverter.
I lived in my Hymer Aktiv 1.0 for a year and a half. Mine is a 2017. BTW I live down the street from the beach you are parked on. I walk on that beach parking lot for my morning walks.
Was searching for information on small travel vans for cross country travel and was directed to your channel from another fan of yours. Watched this video and realized you were parked in the Cannons parking lot in the town I live in, Dana Point, Ca. Thanks for your likes and dislikes of the Hymer.
No matter what RV you buy. They all have some weird glitch. That drives me nuts. But they can't address every possible issue customers find... But that Generator is just waiting to be hammered. It's not even 6" off the ground. And its getting beat to death from FOD on the road. While you drive. If that thing goes out. You better have a backup plan...
good vid. I'm not currently in the market to get a van but if I were the negatives you pointed out are enough to make me not buy this van, especially the things I can't easily modify like the clearance under the van. Hopefully Hymer will implement some of your suggestions. Thanks for the honest review.
Thanks so much for this video, I'm going through a crisis with covid and finances, and really inspired to get an rv to live M in full time cause it's cheaper in my case. I found a dealership that's selling it just need the funds, I like that van! I am ready
Well done, I appreciate owner views, compared to dealers. My issue would be the lack of driver seat travel for a 6’ + person. On long trips I drive with almost a straight leg position, the lack of tilt wheel and limited telescope may add to the problem. Enjoy the desert, your coast videos were incredible.
johnru1 I'm sure there are 6-foot individuals that own a Hymer, I just don't know any right now to ask. Yes, I understand the straight leg position. I'm short and still like to do that. It was odd in the beginning driving the Promaster, but I got used to and actually, it's very comfortable. Even on long days of driving, I don't feel uncomfortable in that position. Glad you liked the coast. Just a few more to finish up the PCH.
Very interesting and very full video on the RV. We are based in Europe (UK) and we have what you guys call a class B. its a Fiat Ducato - ie Promaster van But diesel turbo . This van comes with Wheel under the vehicle at the rear. Great for being out of the way but gets dirty and difficult to drop when its been undr the van for 3 years. A lot of our class Bs come with underslung LPG tank that fills through a fill point on the side of the Van just like another Gas fill point. Nice to see your points for improved design , well made and nice if they got implemented - or you can implement them.
Thank you for your very comprehensive videos, you’re one of my favorites! Have you been in colder climates? If so, how cold, and we’re you able to stay warm? In the warmer weather how do you keep a comfortable temperature. How comfortable is the mattress? I’ve heard some say that they purchased a mattress topper, have you? Do you fold your bed up to get to the lower storage areas? As a solo traveler do you find storage space adequate? If you had to replace your coach would you buy another Hymer? How much solar do you have and it meet your needs? I test drove a Hymer and am seriously considering taking the plunge. There are so many features that I like about the Hymer and I haven’t found any other coach that I feel meets my needs-length, unobtrusive, affordability and most of all the warranty. One last question-have you ever had a mouse in any of your coaches? If so how did you address the problem, and prevent future entry? I apologize for so many questions but I consider you trustworthy. Thanks much. Janice
Janice McKinnie Thank you so much and glad you enjoyed my videos. 😌🙏I tend to stay away from cold climates, especially now in the Hymer van because the pipes are exposed underneath and I don't really care to winterize my van. I'd just prefer to move south. I didn't purchase the mattress topper. I seemed to have become accustomed to the firmness of the mattress that came with the Hymer and quite honestly I really prefer it now. Feels good on my back. I crawl under to get to the lower storage - it's much easier. I certainly had to downsize but yes, I have everything I need. I mean, couId I buy 5 more pairs of pants and some shirts? Sure I'd love to, but I feel like what I have serves me well and I really have plenty. I probably have at least 25 shirts and 6 pants, not including yoga pants....lol Yup would definitely buy another Hymer. I love mine. I have 250 watts of solar but feel I could use a little more 350-450 would be good, but I consume a lot of energy from my batteries since I work all day on computers, charging computer equipment etc. On days when I drive it's not an issue, but if I sit for several days and there's some clouds I start the underhood generator. I have had a mouse in my previous RV and I never want one again. I put lights under my van, sometimes pop the hood and I spray peppermint essential oil spray around my vehicle each night if I'm in a place where I think I there are mice. Hope that helps!! Happy Thanksgiving
They do make. An extension with a 45 degree angle I think for the propane tank fill. Very nice van ! I have the coachman beyond. It comes with the sumo springs already installed. Makes for a better ride and raises the clearance. You can add some sumo springs to your van.
Very informative video. The part about the under-hood generator is good to know. Also good point about the refrigerator. A drawer type is definitely an improvement. It will be interesting to see if these points along with others are considered by the manufacturer and if they are changed for future models if possible. Thank you!
I Like That Van. But, the propane tank placement makes this a hard no for me. I can see you had dinged it a few times. How could you not? What happens if you really bottom out? Big bada boom!
One thing I like about this van is the cassette tiolet. If it was 4 season and had the bathroom bigger (like travato 59gl) it be a great match. Maybe in the future they will.
TravelingSolo - I still use mine all the time and have just figured out the best way to move it back and forth. For the most part it doesn't bother me until somebody else tries to slide it and then I remember how awful the screen slider is. I hope we can too. Are you making a video on that yet???? The solution video that is? Thanks too!
Nice review. Looks like perfect van if they ditched useless bathroom and fixed generator and propane placement. Agree on spare tire and I've not had a flat I couldn't plug myself and just need little 12v compressor.
Love your van. Looks like you are staying in Carlsbad Ca., I lived there for 5 yrs great place. Most of your dislikes are easily fixed, except the bath sink. I noticed that when you bought the van. Very cheap, don’t know why they would go cheap on a very noticeable item. The gas nozzle was placed at an angle to allow the cover to lower and hide the tank. It may be possible to loosen the mount and slightly rotate the tank. The spare tire should be added with a rotating arm attached to the hinges. You can not rely on road side assistance to have a tire and rim for your van or correct tire. Changing a tire is easy and you should learn to do it ASAP. I always carry a spare tire and all the tools to repair a tire when off-road. Reason that the class c had no spare is that it may have had a heavy truck tire which can be harder to change.
Web Browne 😀I removed that sink. Have you seen my latest mods video: ruclips.net/video/batPBn-TqaA/видео.html It will answer a lot of what you've mentioned here. I think you'll like it.
I saw one of the swing away tire rack on a Bob Wells video once. They also have a swing away carrier rack. They are out there. It would take longer for roadside assistance to help you because they do not carry tires. You should check with your roadside assistance to see if you are covered on that one. You have a beautiful rig. Thanks for the video.
Great info Amber. I'm still torn between a van and a small trailer. The Aktiv would definitely be a contender if I went the van route. Glad you brought up that Lost Coast Road adventure. That was one awesome drive!! While you're out there you should do it again in the opposite direction...haha!
I have never filled my motorhome its always done by a attendant, I agree about your shower, you probably could get a plumbing y and a RV shower head put on. the adventure continues. safe travels
The propane and the generator for me are COMPLETE deal breakers. Uh...who in their right mind would put a propane tank under a vehicle where rocks, pebbles and debris could damage it and start a fire from a road spark. That is unbelievable!! Again..a generator or anything protruding below the chassis/axil level is ridiculous!! After seeing that Im concerned for you. The nimbleness and boon docking abilities have vanished with the placement of those 2 things. The bathroom is an easy/cheap modification. I want my showers so that sink would be better suited as a shelf to fold up for a shower. Wet baths can be tricky. Im glad your enjoying your rig. There is something for everyone, right? Thank you for sharing.
Kelly name Thank you for reaching out and commenting! The propane tank under the van is pretty common actually and amongst RVs. It does have a guard around it though to protect it. That said I agree on everything being too low. I've considered getting a lift kit on it, but I'm already thinking of selling and getting a truck camper. It's still a great rig, but you just have to be careful with the low clearance underneath especially on rural lands.
I think that they should make these vans MUCH more stealthy looking on the outside, so that they look like regular high-top cargo vans. THEN you could park ANYWHERE, especially overnight! Trust me, the technology is available to do it!!
If you still have this van you really should put oil or grease on the air filter cap screws I have the same vein and Pro Master 2018 and the four or five screws that hold the air filter cap on seems to hold water and is prone to corrosion and can be easily snap the screws if they are corroded enough, also there is a recall on the Pro Master’s a throttle cable, also my mechanic said the Pro Master‘s are prone to having Axle problems mine started off with a little bit of shimmy as if the tire was out of balance only to find out have the axle replaced.
Raymond Driggers 😀Thanks so much for the tips and sharing your experience. Just want to shake my head sometimes at these things. btw...have you seen my new video on the truck camper I'm looking at? You can watch it here: ruclips.net/video/j5idcy-Ys4k/видео.html

I guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a method to get back into an instagram account??
I was stupid forgot the login password. I love any tricks you can offer me!
@Armani Frank instablaster :)
@Kian Fabian I really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process atm.
I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Kian Fabian it worked and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my ass !
@Armani Frank happy to help =)
I hope the manufacturers listen to the owners who actually live in their creations and share what works in the REAL WORLD... Thank you for sharing.
Bruce, I am a Spaniard living in the US, but just wanted to wish you all the best. Keep up the good work.
Bruce I quite agree. I’m in Florida on East coast.
Ask your RV dealer for a right angle adapter for the propane fill, that will solve the issue quite easily and inexpensive.
Than repeat if needed.
robert cuthill oh that's good to know and thank you for the idea. I'll look into that as well. I was concerned about anything attracting dirt. :)
@@robertcuthill8484 Is there a particular brand you can recommend?
Lass-in Angeles Yikes that sounds scary! Thanks for sharing with me. I'll get it back at some point. Just researching better options. ☺️
Lass-in Angeles so sorry that you had that experience but glad you survived it. Thanks for your cautionary tale. Take care and safe travels.
Great update on your van! The ocean out the back... That upgrade came for FREE! That's priceless. Safe travels and enjoy Full-Time Freedom Week!
Susan F LOL "upgrade came for free"! Thanks Susan!
I like that van!! Recently retired and have been thinking about conversion van living.
Thank you for sharing, you did a great job!
Amazing comprehensive video... It truly has a lot of incredibly valuable information not just about the Hymer but about the subject in general... Great job!!!
😀 Thanks for watching and commenting !
There is a 30 degree raptor made for your propane fill. I installed one on my eurovan. Look around at sites that have eurovan parts.
I'm seriously considering full time van/rv life. I love Your van and You have a beautiful life. Thanks for sharing.
Philip Tarnaski Where do you get the twin bed and can a 175 lb woman sleep up front on it?
I like that van. Especially the turning front seats, I consider that your living room. I would prefer a small class C because I want and I think I need the extra living space and want a little bit more creature comforts. I love your class B and wish I was brave enough to do what you do. You go girl! I love it!
Great review from a real user rather than Neil B. (a van reviewer) who does his best but just visits them (doesn’t live in). I really appreciate hearing what you DIDN’T like. Knowing those beforehand is helpful. Thank you and best wishes in your continued safe VanLife.
Brandon Bakhtiar Awww...thank you so much. 😌🙏 So glad you enjoyed it and appreciate your kind comments.
I love your van. My house just sold, and now I can rv full time. You do a great job on your channel, blog etc. I hope you are having fun in Alaska.
sandy l doughty Thank you!
☺️
I LIKE THIS B VAN the best so far.
Whoa! Thanks for the heads up. I would never risk buying this van due to the parking vulnerabilities. That's just no go.
Hi there, I’m new here and Yes 😆😆😆 “I like that Van” My hubby and I are thinking to get one and your review of this make and style of van was very very helpful.. Much love ❤️ from pollysworld 🤝🤝🤝
Pollys World So sweet! Welcome to Story Chasing! 😊💕
Class C Explorers, it almost sounds like whatever a person had first, the next type is the preferred. hahaha
@@monnaprovost7294 Haha, you're right.
Stay safe.
I just found your channel and I’m so happy I did. Thank you
I went to an RV show last year.
Thanks
Girl "I like that van" thank you for all the info it's helped me quite a bit 😊
Laura Stewart yeah!!!!!!
You should switch out the showerhead for sure.
1bike10 Maybe one day. It's not super important to me because I like taking showers at the gym or elsewhere to conserve water.
That truck stop shower is the BOMB! Man, oh man!!!
The makers of Hymer Aktiv would have ZERO problème making the changes you suggested. It's ONLY a matter of willingness. IF they are smart, they will listen to their customer feedback! Again, IF they are smart. Time will tell.
They would if they didn't close their plant.
Hi Amber, i enjoyed your video and i agree, some of those points would annoy me too. I don't know if its possible but maybe a remote filler valve for the gas tank? for your screen door you might try rubbing a wax candle along the lower track. Stay safe and keep up the good work.
Pedro ElGordo Thank you so much and glad you enjoyed my videos. 😌🙏 I'll have to look up the remote filler valve - thank you for the suggestion.
Story Chasing I am not planning to add a spare tire on a carrier or in any other location.
Love the van's white color and the sweet lounge area. Looks super comfy and Lily seems to like it too!
It is!
Michelle Stratford 😊 I loved my Class C and I do miss the space. Good luck!
Sorry I'm a day late, and a dollar short Amber, I just discovered your channel, so I have some serious catching up to do 🙂
Great video. Love your sidebar working. Totally with you on the acrylic awning-style windows.
Go Small. Live Large! Vanlife in a Travato well thanks for that compliment!
☺️
Story Chasing thank you for your attention to detail. You and those who have shared or commented have been a tremendous help. I’m almost certain that I’m going to get a Hymer Activ 1.0 in March or November 2019 (at the latest). I will be able to use much of this info to negotiate a better price or get the dealer to install things like the swing away for the spare and a modification on the propane tank. Safe travels to you and all of your followers.
Thank you for showing what you don't like. Very helpful
Or else UBER there. hahahaa
Thanks I considered on buying one of these but that's a real deal breaker for me the propane tank and I'm up front generator under the front bumper who would design something like that I hope they change it
To fix the sliding screen door: Buy a can of silicon fluid. Spray on the slides. And that's all! :-)
Every rv should have a video like this, thank u
ptinio2 Thanks so much! ☺️
Awesome, thank you! That's too funny. yeah I love Dana Point. What kind of a van are you looking at? Custom or buy as is?
@@storychasing As is. Definitely looking for a 19 ft for that flexibility to park in a regular parking space.
You do a great job on your videos, especially your narration. I'm hooked....rick
Extremely helpful and truthful video! Thanks a lot
I like your Class B. I had a Pleasureway and it did not have a spare tire. They provide a small kit that you might want to look at.
Roxy ShuShu Thanks so much! ☺️
Great video Amber. I would agree on the things you pointed out, especially the negatives. Not very well thought out I would say.
GrandMarais You're welcome 🙂. Yeah some design changes would be great. I'm hoping Hymer is listening to all of us.
good vid. I'm not currently in the market to get a van but if I were the negatives you pointed out are enough to make me not buy this van, especially the things I can't easily modify like the clearance under the van. Hopefully Hymer will implement some of your suggestions. Thanks for the honest review.
Your review of your van is stiller !! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.
What a great review, wish more people reviewed like you, thank you.
😀 Thanks for watching and commenting !
Thanks so much for this video, I'm going through a crisis with covid and finances, and really inspired to get an rv to live M in full time cause it's cheaper in my case. I found a dealership that's selling it just need the funds, I like that van! I am ready
You can do it! Best of luck and hope you get a good deal. It definitely can be cheaper.
Great tips for sure .hopefully will be joining you in 2 years, plans are in the making. Have a great day. It is a nice van you have.
Trapper 62 😀
I love your van! I am currently in a regular van. I am looking to upgrade. I don't want to live in a sticks and bricks again..I just subbed.
Debi Caron Thank you for the sub and loving the van. There's a lot of cool options there to upgrade. Hope you find the one you really love.
Use a graphite lubricant for the door screen they use it for locks and similar mechanisms.
They do make. An extension with a 45 degree angle I think for the propane tank fill. Very nice van ! I have the coachman beyond. It comes with the sumo springs already installed. Makes for a better ride and raises the clearance. You can add some sumo springs to your van.
Ricky Breaux 😀 I did eventually get the adapter and I do have the Sumo Springs too. Thank you .
Very informative video. The part about the under-hood generator is good to know. Also good point about the refrigerator. A drawer type is definitely an improvement. It will be interesting to see if these points along with others are considered by the manufacturer and if they are changed for future models if possible. Thank you!
tomgreenpine Yes would be interesting to see if they are actually watching and taking notes. :) Thanks!
As long as you like it, that's great.
Very thorough and practical. Hello from Germany.
I Like That Van.
But, the propane tank placement makes this a hard no for me. I can see you had dinged it a few times. How could you not? What happens if you really bottom out? Big bada boom!
Very nice review. I had to jump ahead to see this so now I’ll go back to season 1! Mo in NJ
Beautiful home Amber! Much more spacious then my Citroen Berlingo!
Thanks for the inspiration!
this was a very well done. Like the van for the most part. subscribed, and looking forward to seeing more of your videos!
Beth Kasten thank you so much for liking it enough to sub! Seriously means a lot to me. Glad you enjoyed .
Great video. Very informative and well done. You've definitely helped me in my quest for a class B. 🙂
Bob Allen oh super cool. I'm glad you liked it and it helped you!
One thing I like about this van is the cassette tiolet. If it was 4 season and had the bathroom bigger (like travato 59gl) it be a great match. Maybe in the future they will.
I think I'd use the screen a lot more if it weren't so finicky. Hopefully we can figure out how to make it more cooperative. Great video!
TravelingSolo - I still use mine all the time and have just figured out the best way to move it back and forth. For the most part it doesn't bother me until somebody else tries to slide it and then I remember how awful the screen slider is. I hope we can too. Are you making a video on that yet???? The solution video that is? Thanks too!
It’s on my list to dig into (once I get the van back...sigh).
Nice review. Looks like perfect van if they ditched useless bathroom and fixed generator and propane placement. Agree on spare tire and I've not had a flat I couldn't plug myself and just need little 12v compressor.
Bret B Yeah there's some issues and I've create a mod video on what I've changed if you're interested: ruclips.net/video/batPBn-TqaA/видео.html
Great review on your van. Lovely women and love your little Lilly she is so adorable. Thanks
flpirate45 Thank you so much and glad you enjoyed my videos. 😌🙏
Have you seen my latest mods video: ruclips.net/video/batPBn-TqaA/видео.html
It will answer a lot of what you've mentioned here.
Just Me thank you! Yup I'm covered on my roadside assistance for sure, but I'd still like to have a spare but one that is easy to manuever.
Great info Amber. I'm still torn between a van and a small trailer. The Aktiv would definitely be a contender if I went the van route. Glad you brought up that Lost Coast Road adventure. That was one awesome drive!! While you're out there you should do it again in the opposite direction...haha!
David Hinnant Have you driven a van yet or the trailer to see what you might like better? lol Lost Coast the other way...um...no.
Really enjoyed this ! Great update video 😎
Andrée Marie Thank you so much and glad you enjoyed my videos. 😌🙏
I have never filled my motorhome its always done by a attendant, I agree about your shower, you probably could get a plumbing y and a RV shower head put on. the adventure continues. safe travels
Re: shower problem....
Buy a piece 20" long PVC pipe to (snugly) slide over the faucet handle for a "removable" extension...just a thought : )
😀 Thanks for watching and commenting !
Try armour all in screen track I’ll bet you will be amazed
Hello Amber, I am a new subscriber. I love your van, thank you for the tour
christabell2002 WELCOME and thank you for subscribing!!! Take Care!
I think you could add an extension filler pipe to your gas tank and then fill it from higher up ,nice van
Honestly, one of these camper conversion companies should hire you as part of the design team.
172 likes 0 dislikes.....I see why. Great job,I really want one!!!!!!
Eric Vaughn lol Thanks!!! Yeah!!! When are you getting yours Eric???
Lol....unfortunately not anytime soon....I'll just have to settle following your travels.
I like the Hymer Activ and it is very affordable. I think the two issues you mentioned Propane and Generator are important.
Giovanni Funaro 😀
You have one of the better rv life videos.
Dave Butler - aw thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Some people peel off the stripes on the side
Leslie Murdock Didn’t know they peaked off. I would definitely to that too.
Police and thieves are catching on ANYWHERE on “stealth” vans
I had a nephew that was hymer aktiv. I think they got him some medication for that.
HA, HA, HA!! Good one! Like the pun on the VW Fuckin' Grooving.
LMFAO
LOL! 😁😁😁
Story Chasing thanks
I see your set up. Mine was in the enter hitch. So I can’t open either door😤 have you seen what “whereischrisnow” did with her spare? Love it.
No I haven't seen it. Is there a video on it?
Your videos are interesting when doing a video you should have all your windows shown popped out already would be most helpful. Best to you
The screen door track; spray some WD-40 the length of the track...that’ll work much easier!!
Paul J Sweeney Thanks so much! ☺️
You can have a swing away bike rack, so adapting it for a spare tyre should be ok.
